Sophie was great! The room was perfect and very clean. Plenty of parking and so many great suggestions on where to eat and what to do. Thank you!
Sophie is a great host! The space is exactly as it was described, it was kept very clean, and it's in walking distance to Portland and close to the airport. My girlfriend and I loved it here!
As ever you have to take some good with the bad, but overall The Nest is a nice place to stay. The street noise wasn't bad as some others thought, the road itself is fairly busy but it didn't affect anything. There was lots of good info around for the area and things to do and we had no issue with the shared bathroom or kitchen. And as the pictures show; the decorating was very nice, it was all cozy and pleasant to stay in. The pictures themselves though are out of date: there is no washer/dryer in the kitchen and the room itself has changed a bit and the pictures do make it look nicer. When we arrived we found it to not be quite the cleanest space as there was a bit of dust on most surfaces and we couldn't tell if the sheets had been changed as there were some hairs found between them.
Our biggest thing, which may sound petty to some, was that the host Sophie rearranged our food in the fridge. The shelves are designated by floor so it didn't affect anyone else and we just felt like it was a step too far in being "helpful".
Overall it was a decent first time experience and we will use Airbnb again but most likely not this unit.
The description of the apartment was accurate, however I managed to completely miss the pictures posted of the actual apartment. I only recall seeing images of the kitchen, so upon arrival I was very taken aback at the decor. Initially I wanted to run for the hills, but by the 2nd day I began to appreciate the antique charm and all the details that were put into decorating the space.
As for the neighborhood, I would have preferred a more metropolitan neighborhood like downtown Portland as I'm a city girl, but overall the location wasn't bad at all as it wasn't more than a 15 minute drive to get to anywhere we were looking to go.
Overall I enjoyed my time at this location and am happy it was my 1st airbnb experience.
We had a lovely stay at Sophie's "nest" it was exactly the eclectic, sweet and cozy room you'd expect from the pictures. Sophie was easy to contact and check-in and out was simple and stress free. Thanks again!
Sophie's apartment is lovely! the decor is super charming and it is very clean! There were many excellent recommendations of places to check out in Portland as well as the surrounding areas. Also, the kitchen is well stocked and a perfect place to prepare food if you want to stay in for breakfast or for dinner one night. There are a couple of incredible beaches only 15 minutes away by car and the city is about a 8 minute drive. Thanks so much Sophie!
The apartment is great, very cute and convenient location in South Portland.
Sophie's place was great. I had read a few reviews before booking and it's true having a shared bathroom and kitchen wasn't a big deal. I went with my girlfriend and our dog and the place was perfect. We had a wedding in Maine, so I was worried about the timing with the shower and other guests but like the other reviews it was no problem. We stayed in the third floor, the bed was super comfy and she was the AC on for us which was pleasant.
I only stayed for one nite but it is a really cute and neat place. I will stay again.
We arrived from Mt. Desert Island with our two daughters and two dogs to Sophie's lovely apartment in South Portland. She showed me around and was very helpful in helping us find a suitable parking spot in her driveway for our UHaul trailer. The apartment was clean and charming and cool - even without central air. Because of the size of our party, we had both floors to ourselves. Our daughters slept in a cozy "attic" with dramatic lighting and a gypsy vibe. My husband and I enjoyed the comfy bed and the comfortable 2nd floor bedroom. Guests who are renting only one floor would share the kitchen and bathroom. Everything was as promised. Close to a greenway walking path which was great for walking the dogs. And a quick ride over the bridge to Portland. The back stairs to access the apartment might present issues for folks with any sort of mobility issues. But for us, it was a perfect spot from which to visit Portland and our family in the area.
Sophie was a stellar guest! Communicated well and left the apartment clean. i would definitely have her come stay again and recommend her as a responsible and reliable visitor
