Hey, I'm Niamh And Florencia!
San Cristóbal de Las Casas, Chiapas, Mexico · Member since December 2013

We are Florencia and Niamh (pronounced Neev).

Niamh: I am Irish but lived in the UK for most of my life. I moved to San Cristobal a year and a half ago and absolutely love it. My friend Lucy also lives here that is also from England! Over summer 2014 I will be going back to England/Ireland to visit family and friends for a couple of months so the house will be slightly different but Florencia and Lucy are amazing girls and I trust them completely to look after you and the animals!

Florencia: I am Argentinian and have been living here for a year. I am looking after the house for this summer as Niamh had to go back to visit her family in Europe. I make and sell jewellery here. San Cris is glorious and I love the culture very much as I studied Anthropology at University. This is also the line of work I am trying to get involved with here.

The house has a glorious garden that is full of life, the dogs, chickens, hummingbirds, butterflies, flowers and a lawn for picnics! The house is simple but has everything you need to cook, wash and relax. We try to be as conscious as possible and therefore have compost, hens for fresh eggs, dogs for scraps etc. Most of the furniture in the living room and kitchen we made ourselves using old pallets etc. We clean daily and ask that all guests are respectful and do their own dishes etc and basically leave the place as they find it, switch off lights when not in use etc. We love to welcome people into our house and make the most of the simple but beautiful facilities. We are very proud of our home and the tranquility we can share with others here. We are in the center of town but the garden is enormous and we love spending time in it. We spend most evenings with guests, love cooking communally and having a glass of wine and sharing stories.

San Cristobal is beautiful and we love going for walks around the city, reserves and villages. There is tonnes to do here in terms of culture and a great mix of restaurants from all over the world, as well as great Mexican food. We love meeting people that travel so we thought this to be the best way to utilize our lovely house whilst meeting new interesting people! We have two lovely dogs, one was a street dog and is still very nervous but becoming a lot more friendly and the other is a lovely collie puppy with lots of love to give. Liking dogs here is kinda important as they are not kept out of the way... :)
