I am Niamh (pronounced Neev) or Nieves in Spanish.
I am Irish but lived in south London (England) for most of my life. I moved to San Cristobal two and a half years ago and absolutely love it. My home generally has more animals than humans living here. The house is not for everyone but those that like it seem to love it. The cabana is just round the corner but whoever stays there is more than welcome to spend time with us in the house.
The house is my home and when im away it does get confused for a hostel as some of my friends just take care of it and the crazy animals. I assure you its actually a home but i do rent 4-5 rooms! I think im pretty relaxed in the house. We all spend a lot of time together and i love sharing a bottle and getting to know guests. The house has always been super friendly but i believe its because everybody comes from AirBnB and sees photos of the house, knowing more or less what to expect....! Its like a kids house for adults.
We have two dogs (this can double depending on adoptions), two cats (that dont come into the house) and seven chickens (yes, proper eggs). The two dogs do come inside the house and are very lovely; one is an ex street dog that is very timid and the other, Pozol, is the complete opposite and just wants cuddles and love.
I work a couple of blocks away in a language school and am trying to set up a social enterprise here in town. I adore this part of the world, the beauty and diversity in culture and the environment. There is always somewhere new to explore and new people to meet in Chiapas as well as the enormous country! I love painting and nearly anything creative, culture and food! Chocolate cakes are a weekly deal here...!
