Nick couldn't have been a better host, greeted us the moment we got to the house, explained everything we needed to know in full detail. Any time we needed anything he was just a phone call away and helped us find the best adventures and arranging transport.
The place itself is exactly like the pictures, if anything it's better in person! RIGHT on the beach and just a 7-10 minute walk from town, it's secluded enough to have privacy from the hustle and bustle of downtown which was a nice escape at times.
If I come to Tamarindo again, which I am sure I will, I would stay at Nicks place in a heartbeat.
We had a fantastic time at Nick's beachfront house!! Nick is highly accommodating and responsive, so that made the stay very smooth. The loft itself is pretty incredible: it overlooks a beautiful beach scenery, with the beach itself being literally 10 seconds away. The loft is also very cute, and is equipped with an A/C (very important :)) and everything needed for cooking/enjoying cocktails. One of the very special things about staying at this loft was having the helper (who was incredibly nice) clean every day. We really enjoyed coming home to a freshly-cleaned place :) Thank you for everything, Nick!!
The house worked perfectly. The location is fantastic. A quiet part of the beach, but close enough to the action to be ideally located. So close to the beach that you could actually stay on the porch and feel like you are on the beach, but have the comfort of the house. Fantastic. Nick arranged a chef for us one night that was a truly great experience, one of the top five meals of my life and I am something of a foodie. The house worked well with great wi-fi. The help was efficient but unobtrusive. Everything worked great, could not have been more pleased.
Class palmas was awesome. House looked exactly like the pictures and beach access was amazing. Having a security guard at night and daily cleaning service was a nice bonus. Nick is a great guy and made sure we were well taken care of.
Look no further- seriously. This place is in the best location in Tamarindo. You can walk to town on the beach but are far enough away from the noise. Sleep with the windows open and you can hear the waves! Perfect experience and excellent host.
My wife and I had an amazing time staying at Casa Palmas - The Beach Studio.
Nick helped us arrange transportation from LIR to the apartment. Our driver met us at the exit from the airport and got us to Tamarindo with no problems. Nick was out of town when we arrived, so he had Dimitri show us around. He explained the basics about locking up and let us know we could call at any time if we needed anything. Good start!
As everyone has said, this apartment is right on the beach, which is amazing. The Pacific Ocean is just beyond your backyard, and at high tide is pretty much in your backyard. Casa Palmas is on the quiet south end of town, which worked perfectly for us. You're about a 15 minute walk from the heart of Tamarindo, so close enough to head into town every night but far enough not to be kept awake by the late-night scene. We never needed to take a cab home at night, but if you're out past midnight it's probably a good idea. The road is pretty well lit, but you will probably encounter a few people along the way, and in one instance, we came across a crazy jungle cat.
We found the apartment to be very comfortable. It seemed larger than it appeared in pictures. The kitchen has a refrigerator, stove/oven and coffeemaker with all the essential utensils and plates/bowls. The bathroom has a nice shower that never ran out of hot water. The bedroom area is set off from the rest of the apartment by a partial wall, and has plenty of closet space for everything you need. We slept very well on the bed, which is pretty firm. The entire western side of the apartment is one big set of windows and they don't have shades, so at first we thought that might be a little weird. The sun comes up very early in Costa Rica in May -- like 5 a.m. early -- so it was actually pretty cool to wake up early with the sun. There's a TV with cable, but the beach is in your backyard, so you shouldn't really need it.
The monkeys seem to confine themselves to the trees out at the front of the property. They were pretty cool. There are lizards and iguanas all over they place. They were definitely cool. This is Costa Rica, so there are bugs, but you'll adjust to this. It's a good idea to keep the windows closed if you're particularly sensitive to this, as it will limit what gets in. We saw a lot of ants our first night, but we had kept windows open all day. There were way fewer once we started to keep them closed. Just clean up and don't leave food out.
We loved this place and would definitely come back. You can't beat the location -- the beach is absolutely amazing. Thanks, Nick!
I meant to give you 5 stars in the last review but it submitted too quick! Here are 5 stars for you! Thanks for a great time!
The reservation was canceled 10 days before arrival. This is an automated posting.
The Beach Studio at Casa Palmas could not have been more perfect for my boyfriend and I. The location and size were exactly what we were looking for. It was much bigger than your typical studio and included a perfect little balcony with a beautiful view. The best part...the beach is right in your backyard! Nick does a wonderful job of maintaining the place including a great housekeeper that comes everyday and will even do your laundry if needed. It is also very safe and secure feeling; including a guy at night that watches over the property. Waking up with the beautiful picturesque view of the beach was amazing and being able to step right outside and onto it was even better. I only wish we could have stayed longer! Pura Vida!
UNBELIEVABLE!!!! My wife and I are about to leave Nick's beautiful home and what a fantastic time we had! Nick is a great guy and was very attentive to anything we needed. The house is in the perfect location and this is an amazing place to vacation. We were just talking yesterday about bringing our kids back for a week in the winter and I would not stay anywhere else. Nick's house has every amenity you could possible want. It is clean, updated and we did not have any bugs at all. You can't beat how easily you can access the beach and then quickly retreat back to the house out of the Tamarindo heat if need be. Tamarindo itself was an awesome town with lots of great food and fun. I would recommend the beach club just 150 yards down the beach from Nicks house and the Falafel Bar just inside town. They both had great food.
Only recommendations for first time travelers. 1. Don't rent a car at the airport. Take Nick up on arranging transfers. We would have been better served to rent cars on a a daily basis from town if needed. 2. Bring lots of sunscreen. Very expensive here and not a great selection.
Other than that. I would highly recommend you stay at Nick's home. It was one of the greatest vacations we have had. Should have stayed longer.
