We hit it off with Melinda right away, especially since we found that we knew a lot of people in common. We loved staying in her attic and taking advantage of her kitchen, backyard garden, front porch, and closeness to the heart of the Alberta art and eating area. Everything is easy walk or bike distance and the bus literally is right out the front door and a major bike trail one door away. Even easy to use public trans to and from the airport. I'm tall, so I did a considerable amount of ducking at the edges, but the space is roomy, light, and comfy, including plenty tall through the main part. Melinda is welcoming and warm and fun and her home is inspiringly well appointed and tidy but completely comfortable. A great Portland experience. Oh, and maybe you'll get a chance, as we did, to try her home-grown raspberry liqueur.
Our stay with Melinda was great! She is the perfect host. The room was very private, clean and tidy, and the bed very comfy. The location was great too, with the busy Alberta street right down the road and the city a pleasant bike ride away. If your not up to riding, there's also a bus stop close by. Thanks Melinda, we had a great stay :) Highly recommended!!!
Had a fantastic stay in the Alberta Attic, it's a beautiful space, airy and bright with a lovely cozy nook to sleep in and an immaculate bath/sink combo too.
The place is perfectly situated to explore the local Neigbourhood which is one of the best in Portland and it's easy to get downtown by bus.
Didn't get to meet the host sadly but she was very helpful and communicative over email.
Melinda is a warm and accommodating host. Her space is private and cozy, the street is quiet, the neighborhood is lively, and it was just an all-around great experience. Thank you, Melinda!
Melinda was amazing and extremely helpful towards me getting my bearings. Had a great time in Oregon, the neighborhood (Alberta) was tranquil and eclectic & the location was convenient to food, caffeine and more. The loft was spacious and warm. It was a perfect jumping off point to explore the rest of Portland and Northern Oregon. I highly recommend Alberta Arts Attic.
We had a wonderful stay at Melinda's! The attic space is really great, big and bright and comfortable. Melinda was very sweet and easy going. We loved the neighborhood as well.
Melinda is a gracious host. Her home is located just a few blocks off the the Alberta restaurant/art district. It's a lovely attic loft in a quiet and comfortable part of Portland. I would recommend it to anyone.
Melinda's is a nice place. Conveniently located a short two-block from cafes, restaurants, breweries and art & craft shops of NE Alberta, it is a very good place if you want to stroll along in the evening in the neighborhood. It is also convenient that no. 17 to city center stops literally around the corner of the block. For the place itself, it is nice that you have your own tub and toilet in the attic. Melinda also provides towels, soaps, etc. which makes things easier if you want to travel light. Overall, definitely a positive experience.
Melinda and her guest, Ed, were great guests and are already invited back for a return stay. They were here for 2 weeks, during which time we were able to get to know each other a bit. Their warm, friendly personalities make them easy to get along with; I am looking forward to seeing them again.
They took good care of my flat and were easy to communicate with prior to and after booking. I give them my whole-hearted recommendation.
