Yes, the description was accurate. This is our second time staying here and we really had a great stay again. We love the view out the sitting room window. :-)
The house was quaint and it's rural setting allowed us to relax. I would have loved to enjoy the fire pit more, but the weather didn't work out. Check in was easy. While I would have enjoyed streaming videos via my iPad or Apple TV at night I didn't want to break the house rules. A few spiders and bugs but hey it's the woods! Great place, lots of room, quiet and a good choice overall for peace and relaxation.
A lovely, quiet farmhouse and a great stay. I'd definitely come back again.
Loved the chance to use Peter's farmhouse while we explored and viewed the changing of the seasons in Maine. We had all that we needed, a bedroom for each of us, 2 bathrooms (a must when traveling with all women) a washer and dryer, and a beautiful setting. Each night as we came back we felt like we were home. Close enough but not too close to Bar Harbor and Acadia. Loved the peace and quiet.
My wife and I loved the farm house. It's charm is enveloped by the soft hillside and the water in the front view. Everything was clean and comfortable. Great food down the street at Millbrook Company. Would love to stay again!
House with a character : This house took us to our great grand old days. The house, instruments, books, movies all complemented each other. The location was perfect overseeing a fantastic lake with great view. We enjoyed the magnificent drives, lobster grill, burn fires & morning tea on patio overlooking the (website hidden) and my family had a great time.
The house was wonderful -- spotlessly clean and well equipped, a quintessential Maine farm house, with beautiful views of Walker Pond. With three bedrooms, two bathrooms and plenty of hot water, it was perfect for the five of us. The Brookville area is charming with a nearby market offering homemade bread, excellent cheeses and other great ingredients for meals. We'd love to return!
Wow. What a great place! My family loved the rustic farmhouse just north of fantastic Deer Isle Maine. It's location is perfect, with a lovely view of a quiet pond, and the sounds of loons in the early morning! We visited the farmers market in nearby South Brooksville and bought some delicious local pork sausage. Stonington is not far, and has many activities including a terrific beach (on sand road), and a mail boat to Isle Au Haut. We did the round trip for a special deal.
White Maine farm houses are so charming. I liked the value, as it was priced right for what you get. The kitchen is good sized to make fun meals to serve in the dining room. The sheets on the beds were comfy. Peter was very helpful with setting us up for success. Make sure you leave yourself plenty of time to do the laundry before you leave so you don't feel rushed getting out of there. I will be back for sure!
What a wonderful place to slow down time in this hectic world. The view from the deck of the pond beyond the fields was a calming stimulus to the senses, and the open shower was as fresh as the breeze. There was ample room for two families to merge and enjoy what the surroundings had to offer. The stove/oven alone provided a wonderful photo op for the nostalgic years past. A bottle of Sow's Ear Wine from the vintner across the street is well worth the visit to meet the local color and enjoy on the porch while watching the day disappear as the sun goes down. I so hope we have another opportunity to visit one day. Thank you Peter and family.
We just returned from a wonderful week at peters house. We couldn't fault the house- clean, perfect location, very well equipped, comfortable beds and lovely stove that worked really well. Garden is great- We made fires in the fire pit, felt very magical! Great place for families. Recommend Sandys in Brooklin for breaksfast. We had a lovely morning trip on zander & Kate's boat - the Guildive- in castine. Our 5 year old loved it & they were a very sweet couple. Amazing food from local farms & markets. We can't wait to return to herrick road.
