The description of the house was just perfect! there was plenty of room for our family of five. our teen aged boys loved the "vintage" Nintendo gaming system! The house was very comfortable, the area was quiet and beautiful. We enjoyed a few of the local restaurants, explored Camden and Acadia National Park. The fire pit was really great for boiling lobsters and toasting marshmallows! Our whole family felt like we had a completely restful vacation! We can't wait to return to charming Brooksville, Maine!
My family enjoyed a wonderful week in Peter's classic Maine farmhouse. The nuts and bolts that people want to know: The house was very clean, the beds were comfortable, we had extra blankets, plenty of towels, the kitchen was well stocked with pots and pans and cooking supplies, the vintage stove was intimidating at first glance but couldn't be easier to use. The stove might be my favorite part of the house; I want it for my house... Or maybe the outdoor shower with a lake view? There is something about feeling sunshine on your face, a gentle breeze, and birds flitting around when you're showering. Pretty magical. Because the shower got a lot of sunshine it wasn't scary, moldy, or spidery like these spaces can be. The yard was fun to play on, and a nice lawn to go barefoot. The field area was lit every night with hundreds of fireflies- natures fireworks! More magic!
Plenty of parking. We had bikes, kayaks, canoes, etc. and used a covered parking spot to store all of this stuff. The porch was a great place to hang out in the shade and the deck was the place to be for morning coffee. We saw a fox, deer, and a skunk from our safe perch on the deck.
The house is not on the pond but you do have a lovely view. We found the long access road and made our way to the sweet beach area. The pond was clean, clear, sandy bottomed and a GREAT place for little kids to adults to swim and splace. A super gradual slope, no drop off. Clean outhouse and a place to put in your kayak or motor boat. This abuts conservation land with a huge field of wild blueberries you can pick.
We were able to run, walk and bike on the road the house is on. It's a bit hilly but a good workout. Not a lot of traffic but cars go fast. It all worked out as drivers were considerate of people not in cars.
We have stayed in the area before but found Brooksville, and to house to be our favorite location. We were about 2 miles from the Deer Isle bridge that takes you to the lovely Stonington, and close to Brooklin, Blue Hill, Cape Rossier, an hour to Acadia and Bar Harbour, Sedgwick, etc. so many nooks and crannies to explore and enjoy. We tried several local restaurants and were so happy we did. Try Tinder Hearth for pizza and El El Frijoles for Mexican. Both were excellent.
My only caveat is I wish the house had better more bandwidth. Even though vacation should be unplugged I did need to connect in a bigger way than just email. I, of course, just went to town so not a crisis but just a FYI.
We will return to this house. It was perfect for our vacation in every way.
We loved this house! It was very cozy and friendly with lots of things to do in the area. The house is very charming and we loved the old stove in the kitchen. Such a fun place to stay on vacation.
Amazing house in a very calm area. Checkin was easy and internet worked quite ok given the remote-ness of the area. If you plan on spending some time at Peter's farmhouse, I'd highly recommend sitting outside when it's dark and watching the night sky: Very beautiful and relaxing. Also, the Acadia National Park is well-worth a visit, although it's a bit far away: 1-1.5hr depending on traffic).
Great views of the water from the porch, really nice house great for a few days stay with a small group. Takes about an hour to get to Bar Harbor and Acadia and nicely tucked away. Let's not forget that there's an N64 either.
The house was exactly as advertised. A wonderful property and location that more than satisfied what my friends and I needed for the weekend. If you are looking for a place to stay in the area this is it.
We arrived at Peter & family's charming farmhouse and found it to be just that! A beautiful view of Walker's pond, and wonderful lay of the land. The house was cozy and felt like going home each day after exploring the Blue Hill peninsula. The kitchen was nicely equipped, easy to cook in. Stove was beautiful and fun to cook on. And a Webber outside to boot, made for great grilling. The house was very comfortable, lots of rooms to choose to relax in. Beds were very comfortable as well, supplying a great nights sleep!
All in all a wonderful stay at the charming farmhouse

Yes, the description was accurate. This is our second time staying here and we really had a great stay again. We love the view out the sitting room window. :-)
The house was quaint and it's rural setting allowed us to relax. I would have loved to enjoy the fire pit more, but the weather didn't work out. Check in was easy. While I would have enjoyed streaming videos via my iPad or Apple TV at night I didn't want to break the house rules. A few spiders and bugs but hey it's the woods! Great place, lots of room, quiet and a good choice overall for peace and relaxation.
A lovely, quiet farmhouse and a great stay. I'd definitely come back again.
