...had a great stay. Darren was an excellent host and provided great tips on how to best see the island and where to get good food. The cabin was very comfortable and the boat itself was a great place to hang out, sit in the sun and read a couple of books. The dockyard has some good restaurants and pubs and easy access to buses and ferries. All in all, a great place to kick back for a few days...
Darren was amazing... met us at the dock, showed us around and made sure we understood our lodgings. He was always quick with good suggestions for things to see or do and answered my questions quickly. would most definitely do this again!
We had an amazing time staying on Darren's boat! Darren is very hospitable and knows a ton about Bermuda. He gave us great tips on where to go and places to see while we were visiting. Staying on a boat is obviously very different than a regular hotel, but Darren's description and pictures are very accurate and so it was exactly what we expected. Thanks for the great vacation!
My son and I stayed aboard the M/V 'Wine Down' for a full week, and found it to be spacious and comfortable; as a professional mariner I was more than satisfied with the vessel's arrangements.
The historic Dockyard location was convenient to ferry and bus connections, and was an attraction in itself.
We shared the boat with other guests for several nights and with the owner himself on other nights. All were very pleasant company, and Darren was singularly welcoming and helpful, providing many insights into Bermuda's history and culture, as well as suggestions for the best sights and eating spots.
Our entire stay was delightful and relaxing, and our accommodations contributed greatly to that.
I was not the easiest of guests to host, particularly on a boat, as I fractured my ankle a few days before my arrival. Although we had some communication problems, prior to my visit, Darren was reassuring about my ability to manage on the boat, despite my temporary disability. He met me on the evening of arrival and explained some of the boaty stuff, as well as giving suggestions for seeing parts of the island. There are definitely idiosyncrasies on a boat that you don’t find in your standard hotel but this was part of the charm of this accommodation. The small guestroom was just as it looks in the photo and most of the time I was left alone to hobble around the deck. Sunbathing one afternoon and sipping wine on the aft deck (or something like that) at sundown was wonderful. Most of the time the boat was so still that I forgot that we were afloat but on my last night, there was a gentle rocking and creaking of ropes which I found soothing. Darren was a great host -unobtrusive and yet accessible. Two other guests joined on my last night, they were charming and there was plenty of room for us all. The Dockyard is an interesting location, catching the speedy Hamilton ferry is a doddle and I really enjoyed the long bus rides; during the day you can see the beautiful beaches and enjoy the company of some local characters. Darren’s boat offers great value and is a perfect base from which to enjoy the beautiful island of Bermuda.
We loved staying on Darren's boat. He was such a wonderful host!
Darren was a very kind host who took considerable time out of his day to give us a tour of the boat and chat about what Bermuda has to offer on the off-season. He is down to earth and genuine in his interactions. The boat space is super unique and quite a fun option that was out of the ordinary for us. A really great experience!
This experience was MUCH better than staying in a hotel. Darren made us feel very welcome and provided lots of very useful tourist information. The boat was beautiful, comfortable, and in a great location.
I had a great time on the boat! Very welcoming! Great place to stay on the island would recommend it!
Darren was a wonderful host and an expert guide of his home country of Bermuda. The neighborhood was extremely safe and comfortable. The bus station is a 1 - 3 minute walk from the boat which brought us into town and various pink sand beaches easily!
We started our stay off as guests but have left as friends. Darren's boat is a must for any traveler who wants the opportunity to experience the local charm of Bermuda!
Reasons we loved our stay with Darren:
- Easy access to the public transportation system (ferry & bus)
- Comfortable lodging and nice kitchen to make meals
- Breakfast on the back of the boat on the water
- Access to hidden Bermuda gems thanks to Darren
- Nicest host we have encountered so far on Airbnb
John is a friend from high school in Bermuda. When he found out I was bringing my husband to Bermuda for his first visit, John graciously invited us to what was the best vacation accommodation I have ever visited. Waking up every morning to sea views in this gorgeous yacht was such a special and unique treat, and the clean, cozy, and romantic stateroom was perfect. John was a laid back and friendly host who provided us with great information about the location and the yacht while also giving us space and privacy. Very highly recommended!
I have known him for about 10 years, and was able to stay in the master stateroom with my girlfriend this past summer. He was a great host and took the time to show us "locals only" restaurants and bars. Hoping to return in the near future.
