I am an interior designer and freelance photographer and my husband is an artist. This is our home and we live there with our little dog Sterling Fox.
My girlfriend and I stayed at Kate and Joel's Paddington house for just over two months, hence meriting a lengthy review of the location, area and property.
We found the location superb. It is very well located for pretty much anything which you'd be interested in. A few of Sydney's best known coffee shops are just around the corner, one of which serves the best organic bread in Sydney. Groceries and other amenities are within a 10 minutes walk, either a large supermarket, or smaller shops along Oxford Rd. Pubs, bars and restaurants are also very close by, with the well known Beresford pub being a five minute walk. The house however is conveniently located off the beaten track, so there is no 'fall out' from any of the night scene around the house. The house is also very close to Sydney's large sports stadiums Allianze and the SCG which host some of Australia's most high profile games of Aussie Rules, rugby, cricket as well as some large concerts. Close to these stadiums is also Centennial Park which is perfect for jogging, cycling or sitting and relaxing next to the lakes. Being on a very convenient intersection, the location has extremely efficient bus links to the centre of Sydney and the harbour, as well as to all the main beaches, Bondi and Bronte included. A walk to the Opera House is a gentle 30 minute walk. All in all, the location really cannot be faulted. There is also a community feel in the street, with neighbours very happy to chat and give plenty of advice or information.
My girlfriend and I found the house a home away from home, which is exactly what we wanted for our time in Sydney. The bedroom had a balcony which was perfect for relaxing on my laptop, and catching some sun during the day, or a glass of wine in the evening. Equally the quaint outside garden is ideal for some outdoor dining, or late evening drinks with friends. I found the kitchen great for cooking, with everything I could possibly need available. We shall miss the house.
Kate and Joel were fantastic hosts. Prior to our arrival, they communicated frequently ensuring any questions were answered, and they very kindly accommodated some of our luggage prior to our arrival which was much appreciated. We were pleasantly surprised to be welcomed at the house with a few drinks, fresh flowers and some food already placed in the fridge. This was also very welcome, and ensured that we could settle quickly into the house. Kate and Joel also communicated during our stay to ensure all was OK, and whilst there was no need in our visit to call on them for any assistance, I am confident they would have gladly assisted in any matter of need.
Many thanks for the stay.

Kate and Joel were excellent hosts. 2 Iris Street is their home and the house is beautifully maintained in a quiet street in Paddington. They were extremely helpful and thoughtful hosts. The house also has a balcony and very attractive little garden and we were able to enjoy living in Sydney to the full. Access to central Sydney from their house is excellent. This is the best property we have ever rented via AirBnB - and the nicest hosts by far.
Persons using this property should note that there is only one bedroom and the house is suitable for two persons only. Also the stairs to the bedroom are rather steep and would not be suitable for elderly guests or those with poor mobility.
Other than this caveat re the steep stairs, we have absolutely no criticism of this property - only praise. Staying in Iris Street as Joel and Kate's guests became a significant element of a really successful holiday in Sydney.

We stayed in Kate & Joel's bohemian house for 10 days and had a wonderful time. Though small, the house is well equipped and comfortable with a lovely balcony and courtyard. Joel and Kate were extremely welcoming and helpful and the house is excellently placed in a quiet street off Oxford Street.
This was our first time in Sydney and we booked Kate's house because it looked as though it would be a quiet and sympathetic home from home while we visited our daughter and explored this vibrant and lively city.
We were not disappointed ! It is a lovely, warm and comfortable home - made more so by the welcome we got from Kate and Joel - with stylish and interesting décor; eclectic and amusing artefacts; a gorgeous patio garden and balcony - perfect for relaxing in the evening with a glass or two; all the little extras and amenities we could have wished for, including a well equipped and up-to-date kitchen; and in a location that surely can't be bettered for accessing local shops (the bread shop is a must!) and the many world renowned attractions of this wonderful city, without the normal hassle of city centre living.
It more than lived up to our expectations, and we loved it ! Neither of us wanted to leave: it felt like home (but warmer !)
