The room was as described - it is indeed the laundry room. However, it was incredibly cozy and both my boyfriend and I slowly grew to love it. The bed was queen-sized and very comfortable, and the little shelves behind it were really convenient. There was even a little reading light over the bed. There was also closet space and a mini-fridge, and a microwave is located on the first floor. Parking can be difficult in this area (street parking only) but it's literally only two blocks away from the Haight-Ashbury neighborhood, which has restaurants, bars, coffee shops and stores. Whole Foods is relatively close by too. The only problems I had are that on the third night, my dust allergies started going crazy (thank god for Claritin) and our neighbors in the other room started yelling at each other. But for the most part the room was very clean and we had clean towels as well. There was no shampoo though, only body wash.
If you are looking for a bed, a shower and a safe place to stay you are right at Josh¨s Place. The public transportation is nearby and very well connected. I enjoyed my stay at Room 5.
Josh's incredibly house is a great option to stay in SF!!!... The room is spacious, full of light and very comfortable!... The neighborhood is awesome too!!! We extremely recommend this place without any doubt!
Room 2 is larger than we were anticipating, there was a breakfast nook in addition to the large bedroom (with a huge bay window!) and the door lock/bolt system was very secure. There's a new radiator in the room which was great to help drown out the street noise and keep the room at a very comfortable temperature. We never had any issues with the shared bathroom/shower, it was always open when needed.
The neighborhood is really walkable, felt safe, and there's a MUNI stop about 10 minutes (walking) away which was really convenient. The house is a block off Haight St and I never felt unsafe walking around, even at night.
I would definitely recommend staying in Josh's house :)
Move to this room after 2 nights stay in room #4. This room is pretty small. Only one single bed and some space for your baggages. I've seen some comments that if you have big baggages dont take this room. No, that is not true, i was there with a 32 inch (very big baggage), a carry on bag and a backpack. But i had NO PROBLEM at all. With the price i've paid, i think that's very reasonable. If you are low in budget, and you wanna stay somewhere safe and convenient, i think this is the room. And Josh is a good airbnb host, well managed and organized.
My room at Josh's place was absolutely perfect for my stay! The house is set up like a more traditional Bed & Breakfast with a main door and hallways that lead to the rooms, which was perfect for me as I needed to come and go often, both early and late. The access to the house and room was keyless and incredibly convenient.
The room itself was beautiful! It was clean, bright, and had everything I needed. There is a big bay window that over looks the street, and you can see Haight St and Golden Gate Park from there. There was even a small area with a table, sink and counters that was perfect for breakfast or a microwaved meal (shared microwave/fridge were in the entryway). Parking here was great because in front of the house was free, but also free all along the park, which was right there.
The location was awesome, a few minutes from Haight Street, and close to everything I needed.
Although I never met Josh, he has a great spot, and it is obvious he has this whole host thing down! :)
If you are looking for the type of experience where you spend time drinking wine in the kitchen and getting to know your host, I'm not sure this would be the place, but for what I was looking for it was perfect!
Josh lives in a great location! Plenty to do only a few blocks away - the distance to Golden Gate Park was one left turn out of the house! The space itself is small, with minimal lighting. It is the laundry room as described in the pictures, and the washer/dryer were used by staff during our stay so that's something that you will have to adapt to if you decide to stay in Room "L"aundry. The shared bathroom is right outside of the room and features an old-school tub with shower. There was a mini-fridge in the room, so you could store things if needed. There is a community microwave on the ground floor as well. Overall, the location and price makes this room a great find!
We had a wonderful time staying with Josh! The room was great and a nice size for two people, the neighborhood was amazing, and we had easy access to the bus to get around the city.
Josh provided tips for getting to and from the airport and how to get around the city which were very helpful!
I would definitely stay there again!
Josh was there upon my arrival, he offered me help to carry my huge 32 inch baggage all the way up to 3rd floor. The size of the room was beyond my expectation. It was clean, comfy bed, clean bed sheet and cleaned towels were provided. Bath room located next to the room (shared). Very Victorian style bathroom, shampoo and body bath were provided too. Location wise, lots of shops just one block away, plenty of good cafe and restaurants too. Bus stop is few steps away. Overall i would recommend this to whoever that is looking for reasonable, spacious and Victorian style room. Thank you Josh for being part of airbnb.
Friendly, communicative and clean guest!
