Jonathan was very friendly and accommodating. He also cleaned the room everyday and put out fresh towels.
Jonathan was a great host. His place was clean and inviting. He provided us with fresh linens and towels and made us feel at home. We had a wonderful time. Thanks!
Jonathan has a nice place with a great location. Valencia St is just two blocks away. Pubs and restaurants are awesome there. Do check it out.
Jonathan was a great host. The place was very comfortable and quiet. The room faces an inner courtyard with lots of sunshine. It was great! The location is perfect for those hunting for unique restaurant and cafe experiences. Check out the Cafe Ethiopia on Valencia street a few blocks away.
I spent 1 week in Jonathan's room, it was clear and it worth the price. He's an awesome host and a real local so if you want to leave San Francisco as a local you should really try his place. The BART was very close so it's very simple to go and come from the airport or the city centre.
Also the host was very helpful on what to visit and when.
Great place, great host. Short review only because i left another, i extended my stay in this place, only this says a lot!
Jonathan saved us! He took us in on less than 12h notice and was a charming host. He welcomed us into his home, in the heart of the mission, with plenty of suggestions on how to properly check out the local scene. He greeted us with clean sheets and clean towels fresh from the dryer. Shower has great water pressure and was nice and hot; just what we needed after our long flight. Great spot to feel like a mission local!
First and foremost to other users, read the reviews thoroughly!! I had a very similar experience to previous guests. However, I was extremely busy during my stay so I did not spend much time in the space or get to know Jonathan. We pretty much had opposite schedules which is both good and bad.
The biggest thing to be aware of is that this is indeed Jonathan's bedroom and he will be staying in the living room. This kind of deterred me from spending time in the space. I felt I could not utilize the full space since the living room was transformed into his bedroom. The bedroom itself was pretty clean and cozy.
Jonathan is incredibly nice and easy going. So regarding him as a person, he seems to be a chill, kind, welcoming guy. However the space is not what I was expecting. It was not that clean and could definitely use a thorough cleaning. However I understand that people get busy and cleaning every square inch of a place can be really demanding. The kitchen wasn't accessible due to dishes, full trash cans, and the table had a lot of stuff on it. If I wanted to cook that would have been really difficult.
All in all, this was a meh experience so I ended up staying at a different place a few nights during my stay.
Jon was a very kind host and I found his place convenient for exploring the Mission. However the apartment could use a thorough clean-up.
Jonathan is a very nice, easy going guy and was a pleasure to meet.
His listing is a very different matter.
I very rarely write a review anywhere that speaks negatively of an experience or service, however this time is the exception. I do not wish to harm anyone's ability to operate as they see fit. This is my personal experience, and only reflects how I found this listing to be upon my check-in. I post it here for other AirBnB user's to consider. I will be as matter of fact as possible.
Location: Fine. It's The Mission, so expect gritty.
Apartment: It appears that the place hadn't had a decent cleaning or organizing in some time. The living room appeared to have someone living in it, and was very disheveled. Dirty laundry, blankets, pillows strewn about in a chaotic manner. The entire apartment smelled of both stale and fresh marijuana smoke.
Bedroom: Sheets from previous person still on bed, which was unmade. One single pillow. No top sheet, just a throw which was crumpled on the corner of the bed. Hairs very evident on the bed. Crumbs of food on the floor and desk. Desk also covered with a thick coating of dust. A trash bag with trash in it was hanging from the inside doorknob. No place to put my belongings, had I chose to unpack. Overall, it felt very unclean and disheveled. No effort had been made to accommodate a guest. I believe this is Jonathan's bedroom.
Kitchen: Table was covered with various items, empty boxes, storage containers and the like. One chair. No place to put anything on the table. Sink full of dirty dishes. Stove top had residue of previous meals and spills which were left to dry. Floor was noticeably not swept recently. Unclean.
Bathroom: Full trash can. Significant amount of black mold growing in the shower, around the edges of the tub, and all along the windowsill. Extremely unhygienic. No towels left for guest. After asking, Jonathan brought me towels, after he finished smoking his pipe.
I vacated the property. Jonathan did not respond to my request for a refund. After 8 days, AirBnB issued me a full refund.
Hopefully this was just a bad period of time and Jonathan was just unprepared. However, I will not attempt to book here again, given the condition of this listing.
I ended up having to find a hotel on very short notice, and paid nearly double what this listing would have cost me had it been as advertised.
I worked with Jonathan for over a year and have gotten to know him outside of work as well. He's laidback and fun to hang out with, and also knows what things need to be taken seriously and responds appropriately.
While I have not stayed at his house, Jonathan and I have worked together and I fund him to be a lovely, funny, honest, reliable person. I'm happy to recommend him as a host!
