I won't bother mentioning what I do for a living or what my life goals are or my background or whatever, as if anyone wants to know, that person could just look at my Linked In page or just search me on the interwebs. ( Airbnb actually redacted the common verb for this activity [gooo-guh-le]) So, about travel related stuff:
I like staying with people who love, or in some rare cases, truly hate where they live. I think there are remarkably wonderful and equally vile things to see and do no matter where you are, and I like getting to know people who are invested enough to have strong opinions on which are which in their own backyards. I like people who make cocktails or coffee or whatever it is they really like at home; and people who know where to find the best of those things in their neighborhoods. I like people who shamelessly launch into more or less unprovoked tirades about things in their neighborhoods and cities that piss them off, provided that they are reasonable and actually know what they are talking about.
I like animals of most kinds and don't mind waking up to find a cat or dog laying on me.
I like purposeful loudness, like good music or slightly drunken interesting stories, told a bit too loud; I hate unnecessary or pointless loudness-- in the absence of pleasing sounds, silence is best.
Gross bathrooms or kitchens are no good. I like to keep my things confined to a small and unobtrusive space when I travel, and I expect the same of my guests, should I ever have any.
I dislike life mottos, as a rule.
