Sourabh Sharma, CEO & Co-Founder, Milaap Social Ventures
Sourabh is a young technopreneur turned social entrepreneur. Sourabh started MicroAppli, a mobile applications company back in 2004 much before the arrival of apps & app stores. After running MicroAppli for two years, Sourabh successfully sold his media sharing mobile application
to OnMobile Global (BSE: 532944) where he defined product strategy for multiple mobile products & services. After working at OnMobile for almost three years, Sourabh embraced social entrepreneurship looking to do something more meaningful in people's lives and started out Milaap Social Ventures - a crowdsourcing online lending portal which enables everyone around the world to make loans to India's working poor. As opposed to traditional microfinance, Milaap enables loans for interventions which create long term impact in people's lives such as quality education, clean drinking water, eco-friendly sanitation, skill-based training & access to fair market prices. Sourabh is avid long-distance runner and has ran a bunch of full marathons.
Sourabh holds an honors degree in Computer Science from National University of Singapore and is a member of TiE Bangalore. He was most recently
featured on CNBC-TV18 Young Turks program.
