Hi! My name is Ex. I know it's a weird name, but it means "first" in Thai, and I am the first-born child of my family. I currently work as the Head Climbing Instructor at the nation's largest rock climbing gym (located in Rockville, MD). The one thing I love more than meeting new people is exposing more people to the awesome world of climbing.

Why do I love teaching climbing so much? Because it's the only sport where on your very first day, you can experience the same excitement, adrenaline-infused fear from being high, and the overflowing sense of accomplishment that seasoned climbers feel every time they rope up. If I can provide that sort of happiness and joy for just one person every day, I feel like my entire day is fulfilled.

As far as an AirBnB guest, I'm easy to talk to and empathetic in regards to people's living spaces. As the oldest of four siblings and an instructor by trade, I've always had to be the person who can sense when a person is feeling uncomfortable, whether I've offended someone, or if a person is in need of help.

Otherwise, I'm naturally an introvert - no not the shy/quiet stereotype that people seem to have. I like being thoughtful and connecting with people in conversation. While people say that I'm a good listener, it's most because I love hearing stories of how people got to where they are - simply because it's been a crazy journey to get to the place I am right now in my life. I was a chemical engineer, pre-med student in college, worked in a stem cell research lab for 4 years of my life, worked with the government to develop action plans for bioterrorist attacks, worked for a non-profit in Brooklyn that served the healthcare needs of not just people but pets too, and am also a nationally certified tennis coach. Not the easiest path to become a rock climbing instructor, but it's been a fun journey to experience and to share with other people.

My favorite motto is "I wish not for a lighter burden, but for broader shoulders." For me, working hard and fueling my ambition towards people and passions is what keeps me alive in life, and I my only quip is that I am capable of adding more hours in a day.

To whoever got to the bottom of this profile page, I'm looking forward to meeting you soon. I eat anything and everything. I love sangrias and beer. And I love being active.
