We very much enjoyed our stay in Amsterdam. Mercedes was very friendly and speaks excellent English. She was responsive and flexible when we were communicating beforehand, and helpful when we arrived - even lending us a detailed street map!
The neighbourhood is a couple of Metro stations away from the heart of the city, but with a bike or transit pass it is very close. We even walked once. But there is no need, since the Metro station and tram lines are nearby. We also enjoyed exploring the area around Mercedes' home - including a sweet little canal and the Oosterpark area. The area felt safe at night too.
The apartment is charming and was plenty of room for the 3 of us. It's not easy to get luggage up narrow stairs, but I imagine that's true everywhere in Amsterdam! The windows open wide to allow plenty of air, and the kitchen/living room was a great spot to plan and decompress. The house is decorated with beautiful objects from the Netherlands, Africa etc. and it's very welcoming.
We would definitely stay here again, and next time I'd bike everywhere instead of getting a transit pass.
We really enjoyed our stay at Mercedes's place. The room and the bathroom were nice, clean, and well equiped. The bed was very comfortable !
Mercedes is really nice and helpfull, she gave us good tips and adresses for our stay at Amsterdam.
Even though we arrived in the evening, Mercedes welcomed us very friendly. She was very helpful, asked us often if everything is alright and gave good advice for the city. There was a small misunderstanding: Breakfast is not included, unless you pay for it additionally.
The two bed rooms, kitchen and bath share a hallway with the other rooms (which are located on different floors though) and each room has to be locked separately. The appartment is 5-10 minutes by foot from the nearest metro station, which is quite near to the city centre. All in all, highly recommendable.
Everything went perfectly well! The accommodation was very nice and clean! Our host was very kind!
Unfortunately we did not get no know Mercedes in person, but her son's girlfriend welcomed us, even though we arrived two hours late. She showed us around and gave us a number where we could rent bikes. She was very friendly and open.
The house was very clean and tidy and we immediately felt like home. Unfortunately, the walls were thin so we could sometimes hear the other guests, but all in all the house was very quiet (area and guests). We were also able to use the terrace which was big and lovely. Another positive fact is, that the house is located close to a metro station.
We would stay at Mercedes' house again any time!
Decently close to the main city centre; about a 45 minute walk to Dam Square. Good price compared to other places. House is clean, but you can hear the neighbors beside and upstairs if they are noisy or playing music.
Très bon séjour à Amsterdam. Petit regret de ne pas avoir pu faire connaissance avec Mercedes. Gentillesse d'Eva qui nous a reçu. Appartement conforme à la description.
We had a lovely stay at the Magnolia. Mercedes gave us a sweet welcome and shared ideas for what to visit in the city. The room had two twins and a hotpot for coffee/tea with a small refrigerator. She had left several types of tea which was nice after a long trip to get there. Also the stairs up to the room are minimal but they are narrow. The bathroom was beautifully done - two sinks, shower and tub. Mercedes was very obliging and gave us an extra key so that one of us could stay out later. It was very easy to get there from the metro but it did involve looking at a map and a walk so if you have luggage be aware of that. We actually walked into the city during our stay- it is a beautiful stroll along the canal and up to the Van Gogh museum. A couple of tips - If you are disturbed easily bring ear plugs b/c guests use the floor above and it can be noisy. Also, you don't have access to kitchen but you do have a small frig to store food. Thanks for a good spot to see Amsterdam.
Really nice accomodation in a troublefree area close to the city center. Mercedes was a fantastic host, very kind, friendly and available.
Very pleasant guest !
Die Begegnung mit Mercedes war sehr sympathisch und sie hat alles perfekt hinterlassen.
