I am a ballet dancer, animal lover and entrepreneur.
Our family of three were happy to stay a month in Carol's place while looking for our longer term housing in the area. Everything worked out very smoothly. She was very helpful and co-operative whatever questions or concerns we had. She was also very flexible in regards our move-out date as we were quite not sure when we would be able to move in our new apartment while staying at her place. As a bonus, we used her attached garage to store furniture we were collecting from couples moving out from the area during our stay.
The location was indeed excellent - we didn't always even need car to go to the grocery store to Draegers, Trader Joe's or Safeway near by. Also, there were good playgrounds just one block away. Stanford is 10 minutes biking distance away. The neighborhood is very quiet and far away enough from the Caltrain bells and horns.
Minor downsides of the apartment were that it is quite old and not in very good condition any more. There are two gas heaters that heat up the place rather quickly, but we had to turn them off when not in the apartment. Finally, if you love cooking and hate doing dishes, this apartment might not be the one for you. For us three it worked very well.
Overall, we were very happy to stay in this apartment when looking for our permanent residence around the area.
Travelling with young children can be difficult enough, and finding the right accommodation for the family doesn't make it easier. Luckily we found Carol's apartment available on airbnb. Carol was very responsive and friendly from the get go; understanding our needs as a family. Her apartment was clean. Being situated near conveniences of Safeway and downtown helped sort out daily needs.
I highly recommend Carol to anyone who is seeking accommodation.
Re-reading over the description, I can see how the wording would have led us astray, but there are not 2 beds. It says 2 bedrooms, accommodates 2, and bed type: "real bed," of which the one is, but the other is a pull-out couch (that my boss couldn't get the hang of). I guess I should have guessed from the pictures, but I just assumed the two beds and bedrooms were similarly designed.
The heating didn't work, and although Carol was very good with returning calls, it looked like she wouldn't be able to make it over to help turn on the heating until 5pm, which was too late, as it was quite cold. There was a weird smell that appeared to be coming from a rug, and the couch had several stains on it, which would have been fine if it weren't one of the sleeping options.
I booked this place for two business professionals in lieu of a two-bed hotel room, and they weren't able to stay there due to the heating issues and the smell. This would be good for a single business traveler for a cheap and centralized location, but unfortunately not a fit for us.
We didn't cancel, though, since it was part of the deal and such a good price, and it seemed unfair as she wouldn't be able to offer it to anyone else on such short notice.
It's probably one of the best location-wise places in the Valley. We stayed there for 3 weeks, no fuss. Carol is a nice host, very communicative and helpful.
Stayed at Carol's place for over a month. Location is great (Caltrain and Safeway nearby, Stanford and Palo Alto a few minutes drive away). The apartment has basic furniture/amenities but is quite cozy and an enjoyable place to stay. Carol was very friendly and helpful despite her obviously busy life. If you find yourself traveling in the Silicon Valley and you don't want to book overpriced hotels or depressing motels, Carol's listing should be your place of choice.
The reservation was canceled the day before arrival. This is an automated posting.
I had a very positive experience; Carol was very attentive and checked in with me everyday. I highly recommend this place if you need to be on or near the Stanford campus - Carol's apartment is a five minute drive to campus and within walking distance to Peet's Coffee, Safeway, and the Stanford Shopping Center.
very nice little room in one of the best little towns in the Valley. If you are a biz traveller on your own dime like me, Carol's place was a very pleasant alternative to crappy mid-Peninsula 2 star hotels for $25 less per nite. And Carol is very friendly but also respectful of her guests' space. Couldnt ask for better!
One thing about Carol is once you meet her, you will never forget because your life is changed forever (for the better). She is dynamic, intelligent, witty, adores animals and has a passion for what she does (dance). One day, I hope to talk her into doing a really long, cool, fun road trip. (hint, hint) Carol ROCKS!
Carol and I have known each other for 5 years. We worked together but quickly became friends. During that time, I found Carol to be extremely reliable and punctual. Carol could be depende d upon for anything and she always was in a cheerful and positive mood.
As a friend, Carol is very much the same. An all around great person to be around in whatever she does.
