The place was great, in a perfect location. Pretty cool layout, excellent for lounging around with a big, open kitchen.
We were 2 couples traveling with toddlers. Laura was very helpful leading up to our stay and was happy to answer questions about the area. She was very accommodating by removing the cat (one of us has a cat allergy). The apartment was child friendly once we did our own bit of baby-proofing (as expected). The location was excellent -- can't be beat. Our only issues with the apartment were that it wasn't as clean as we would've expected, and many of the main overhead lights were burnt out, so it was quite a bit darker than we would've liked. Overall, we had a good stay.
A few college friends and I were visiting Montreal for the weekend, we had a wonderful time staying at Laura's place and she was nothing short of an amazing host! The apartment has an excellent location right off of St. Laurent and is but a 15-20min walk to the old port! I'd highly recommend this place for any small group of friends looking for great location and a comfortable stay.
Great location and comforable place. It's possible to park for free nearby (Got to move the car at 8AM though). We were 5 people and fit perfectly in the apartment.
Driving to Montreal from NYC meant that we couldn't be sure of exactly when we would arrive; traffic, customs, etc. Laura made herself available by phone and e-mail. She kept assuring us that we should not worry about our arrival time, she would be there...and she was! She greeted us warmly, familiarized us with the apartment and introduced us to our weekend roomate, Sarah The Cat.
The apartment was perfect for our needs. Two big beds and a big couch. A comfortable, wide open kitchen. Washer/dryer, you name it. Laura told us to feel free to help ourselves to what was available in the kitchen...we did.
Within 15 minutes we'd settled in and were right at home. Sarah is not a demanding cat but does appreciate a good rub behind the ears; she was one of the gang within minutes.
The apartment is located in a great spot. It's an easy walk to McGill and a short block to "The Main" (Boulevard Saint-Laurent). The world of the Plateau begins here.
I try to visit Montreal a couple of times a year. The next time I do Laura's place will be at the top of my list.
Thank you, Laura!
i really did love the apartment, Laura was very helpful and did enjoy a lot my stay in her place.
Laura has a nice place in a convenient neighbourhood. She was very supportive throughout our long stay.
This was my first time using AirBnb and I have to say that there was mixed feelings about it. Laura was great in responding to my questions and she was welcoming the first time i met her. She was kind enough to accommodate my request to check in earlier and she provided us with helpful tips on the local hotspots as we were unfamiliar with the area.
When we first walked in to the unit I sensed the place had not been cleaned for quite sometime. The place had a pet odor, the floors looked like it hasn't been treated/mopped and the main kitchen table was dirty. The beds were not prepared, the bathroom was not cleaned and the towels were dirty. We ended up buying cleaning supplies and cleaned the bathroom and kitchen ourselves. The A/C was broken and this made the stay very uncomfortable at night specially for my pregnant wife. The TV didn't work but wifi was provided. We did spend the majority of the time exploring the city so cable was not a 'must have'. The location of the unit was quite convenient and very close to downtown Montreal. There was convenience store close by which was nice and numerous restaurants in short walking distance. There was a small public parking close by and was accessible to public transit.
If the location is the most important factor of your trip then I would highly recommend this unit. Laura's apartment did not meet our expectations however to be fair, we did arrive a few hours before check in time. It was an experience to say the least and regardless of our outlook of the apartment, we had a great long weekend in Montreal.
Laura is a great host and her apartment was very spacious and accommodating. We just needed a space to sleep as we spent most of the time exploring Montreal so TV or other amenities were not a priority. Location was perfect, WiFi worked, beds were comfortable and apartment was clean and quiet. Laura did mention the place came with a cat and we enjoyed feeding and petting her. The shower was a little hot but that's something which could easily be fixed. Would not mind staying there again.
Perfect place if you want to be in the heart of Montreal and experience the nightlife without spending $$$ on gas/cab. Many interesting attractions are very close. This is a cozy place in a very cool old building, with lots of restaurants and shops nearby. The apartment itself is quite big, and the host is very accommodating. We felt at home here and would stay again next time we visit beautiful Montreal!
Laura was incredibly clean, tidy and treated the apartment as if it were her own. I came home to find the apartment just as I had left it. I really enjoyed renting the apartment to her.
Laura and I met through work. I know for a fact that she's awesome. Yes, that is definitely a fact. She's also a seriously hard worker and has a great apartment. You'd be nuts not to stay there and equally nuts not to host her. Oh, and she's a red head, so what can possibly go wrong.
