The Hot Harlem Hamlet: Gregarious, quirky wife & mother to two adorable, well trained & unobtrusive cats, Jelly Roll Morton II (3 yrs old) & Penelope (4 months old). In love w/ NYC & especially Harlem (specifically SoHa aka South Harlem). Love Bikram yoga & CrossFit. My husband is a chef & therefore keeps late hours. You will likely not see him (nor the scaredy cat, Jelly Roll), or if you do he will be quietly watching int'l soccer (aka foot or futball) games in the living room. He is West African & can speak fluent French, several African dialects & some Spanish. I, a native Jersey girl who has lived in the much more culturally diverse & welcoming NYC (& Brooklyn) since college (Barnard/Columbia), am a passably average French speaker w/ some knowledge of Spanish. Traveling is the best thing in the world: I have traveled to Africa twice (Senegal, then Burkina Faso), Spain, Poland, Israel & many cities nationally, including New Orleans & San Fransisco. I love to explore the nooks & crannies of a new destination, appreciate the local sights & smells, & then make it a point to see the occasional "must see" tourist spot: watching my chapstick melt in the 114 degree sun against the backdrop of the Alhambra (Spain); hiking the Masada @ dawn (Israel); eating a beignet at Cafe du Monde (New Orleans) - these memories are priceless. And that is what I want for you when I welcome you to my home, both the cozy, yet spacious apartment & my larger home, NYC itself. Before you even arrive, I can suggest ample places to visit, imbibe & dine in the neighborhood & beyond.
