I had a good stay at Olivia's. The room was adequate for us two and the location is beyond perfect. Recommended for those who is travelling on budget because the supermarket is next door, and cooking food saves you lots of euros!
Perfect location, a great apartment if you want to be out and about. Walking distance of everything you need and in a safe gated courtyard. The flat doesn't get much sunlight so can be quite cold. Good shower although the hot water doesn't last all that long.
Olivia's apartment was perfect for us. Our group of 4 turned into a group of 2 so we had more than enough space with 2 full size beds available. The neighborhood was super convenient with lots of cafes, restaurants, and shops nearby and easily walkable to a bunch of landmarks. The only weird thing was the shower, we had to kind of MacGyver the lever to keep it pushed up while taking a shower. Other than that the neighborhood and apartment were very charming! We had a great stay at this place and would recommend to our friends!
This is a review for the St. Paul studio in the Marais (please read carefully as her other properties are grouped in one place and not all apply to the studio). I stayed there for 3 nights in mid-March.
Pros: The location is unparalleled. Perfect. Fantastic and convenient. The equivalent would be like staying on Crosby St. in Soho. Walkable to all the major attractions and also right next to the Metro. Supermarket next door for when you want to stay in. Hip neighborhood full of bars and restaurants and boutiques. The apartment complex has a beautiful courtyard safeguarded by an outside gate. Very easy to navigate. Olivia was good about arranging the key exchange. Studio was small but a comfortable space for one or two; as a New Yorker I am used to small spaces. Bathroom temperature and water pressure very good. Heat came on quickly for cold nights. Location, location, location. Perfect for anyone that just wants a place to lie down at the end of the day while exploring one of the most beautiful cities in the world.
Cons: While the apartment is very clean it needs deeper maintenance work. There is some moisture damage in and around the bathroom walls - paint is peeling off quite a bit. The bed sheets were very worn. Would be fine otherwise but considering that the owner requests a steep 40 EU cleaning fee per stay for such a small space, the simple upkeep (new coat of paint, newer sheets) would have been nice.
Host: While the key exchange was efficient (she had a friend waiting for me at the apartment), Olivia was not very responsive the rest of my trip. At one point I had trouble with the door lock (had a tendency to get stuck) and I did not receive any response and no follow up to see if I resolved the problem. Then, I asked her to recommend a taxi service since I had a very early flight out of CDG (no other options at that hour) and also did not receive a response. It was disappointing because she had been responsive until I was actually already there. Also, I wasn't incessantly bothering her: I sent her two texts when I needed to.
If you're looking for a more hands-on host - the type that will check in with you, is easily accessible, lives close to the rental property etc. then I would recommend another place. But if all you want is just want an efficient, perfectly located shabby-chic, no-frills studio in Paris to put your head down at night, then this is a great place for you. True rating is 3.5 stars but I rounded up to 4.
For us the apartment was in an excellent 7th Arrondissement location. We found the apartment without difficulty using Olivia's directions. We did have some difficulty opening the door to the apartment; after full circle turn to left with key popping out turn key Hard Left (I needed to use both hands) until lock clicks open. Once in apartment we found it to be spacious (by European standards), clean and stocked with everything we needed for a enjoyable stay.! The clothes washer was a real plus because packing light is a must while traveling via trains and subways in Europe. Would recommend future renters bring a small flashlight to use when returning after dark to apartment-the hallways are dark at night. Nice view of Eiffel Tower from window across from door to apartment!!
Olivia got right back to me. It is what I expected. Great neighborhood. The place was small but clean and comfortable bed. My two daughters used pull out couch which was fine. The phone and tv could have been better. I expected more channels and couldn't dial out on phone. Possibly I was dialing incorrectly but used number she left to call can and could not get through. Luckily plenty of cabs at corner. Wifi was great. I would stay here again. She let us check out late because no guests coming. This was BIG!!!
Great location, 1 minute from Saint-Paul metro. Very quiet too, easy to get a good nights sleep. Apartment was straightforward to find, and having a franprix outside it is super convenient :)
Très joli très petit studio, lumineux, pratique, calme, dans un quartier très agréable. Lit pliable, table pliable et cuisine dans un placard, mais tout-à-fait vivable pour une personne.... Salle de bains fonctionnelle. Eau chaude avec pression...
Thank you very much :-)
The reservation was canceled 10 days before arrival. This is an automated posting.
Great location, a perfect space for a one person or a couple to enjoy central Paris. Everything you need in the studio for a few days comfortable stay.
Olivia blamed me about the fact that she didn't have enough space to tidy her clothes up I recognize there s only one closet in my appartment,I should have left coat hangers....but regarding bathroom I have left enough space to put thing for 4days, I am sorry for the fact that this isnt empty but I m not going to move my entire apartment every time someone comes for a few days, and noone never complained about that.. moreover the lack of space and the fact she didn't feel comfortable in someone else space means she should try to book a hotel, not an occupied place.. As she didn't even take the time to email or text to know if her late arrival time was the most convenient for me, ..sorry I think next time she should try NOVOTEL,they have empty rooms , with closet full of space and a reception desk waiting 24/7... regards
It has been a pleasure hosting Olivia and her friend in Olbia. They left the aprtment i perfect conditions.
