I have lived in Durham and Chapel HIll since 1981. I enjoy good food, good books, riding horses and working in/for my community.

Ann is a wonderful host, and we very much enjoyed our one week stay in her downtown loft. The apartment is accurately depicted in her listing and is a perfect location if you want to stay in downtown Durham. There is plenty of room in the apartment and the access to parking is a big plus. There is some foot noise from the apartment above and some noise from the parking lot in the rear, but not to such a degree as to be a problem. Highly recommend staying here!
Staying in downtown Durham in a loft was ideal for our Christmas visit to our family nearby. The location is near restaurants, the Marriott where others stayed, the DPAC (Durham Performing Arts Center). We were there six days and were comfortable in the city and in the loft. All appliances seemed updated, roomy updated bathroom, a washer/dryer. Seating for two in front of the TV and added seating if you use the long window seat. Nice oversized bedroom with comfortable bed. Quality linens and towels. Open kitchen. It may be important to note that there are stairs to negotiate. One flight from the street entrance, two flights from the parking lot entrance behind the building. The temperature in the loft was nice and warm in chilly weather.
Thank you, Ann, for a nice experience in Durham.
Ann was a great host- very welcoming, helpful, and willing to answer any and all questions about Durham! The apartment is great, as advertised, very clean and in a perfect location for walking to many of the things downtown Durham has to offer. We would highly recommend staying at Ann's place if you're visiting the area!
This place is in a great location! It’s clean and big, with a nice kitchen, laundry room, and bathroom (the shower is powerful), and comfortable furniture (especially the bed). The parking is convenient and a pass is included. It’s a perfect place too stay for a few nights to explore Durham and the surroundings. And Ann is a wonderful host! Nominally, the only thing I missed was a toaster.
However, though I hate to mention this, it should be made clear that there are some downsides that could matter, depending on the purpose of your trip. Bottom line: those sensitive to noise and cigarette smoke should beware. Fortunately, it all goes away around midnight.
Details: I was in town to take a class and needed to study. The problem was, the place is noisy! In the kitchen/front room, you will hear the residents above when they are home. I don’t think they are especially loud people, but the way the place is constructed, their footsteps are quite loud. Voices, laughter, and music also carry through the ceiling and walls to the stairs, and, I think, at least one unit other than that directly above. Additionally, with the windows open in front, you will hear a lot of street noise, day and night, from construction, skateboarders, and people yelling and others cruising main street with very loud car stereos. (It isn’t like cacophonous big-city street noise that is part of the background, such as in much of New York.) To escape this, you might retreat to the very large bedroom in the back—for some reason no one seemed to walk above that area when I visited, so it gave relief from the footsteps, but the rear windows open over a parking lot that is the rear entrance to a restaurant. The staff hang out back there and yuk it up, often while smoking. The smoke will be a part of your air if you open a rear window. You will also hear a lot of noise from people coming and going in the parking lot: it’s a large municipal lot (the same lot you get a pass to park in).
Ann's loft is bright, clean and very spacious. It was perfect for a weekend getaway and within walking distance to many great restaurants & DPAC. We had a lovely stay! Thanks again Ann!
We had a great time staying at this loft. It's very spacious, clean and close to everything that downtown Durham has to offer. Ann gave great instructions and was available to answer any questions.
I loved staying in Ann's loft! It was bright and big and right in the middle of everything going on. Ann was extremely helpful, she had several excellent recommendations for things to do and places to eat and was flexible both with our move-in time and with helping us get back in when we left a few things in the loft. Would definitely recommend for anyone interested in checking out Durham!
The loft was bright and welcoming, and Ann left plenty of information for enjoying the local eateries and sights. Right on the Bull City Connector line, and easy to find. The place is plenty spacious and there was minimal 'neighbor' noise.
Just what we had hoped for and only good surprises. Durham has tons to offer and this location is central to everything just by stepping out the door and walking. Food, entertainment and drink abound. We're coming back!
Ann was an incredible host! She was very flexible in working with us and our schedule and was extremely friendly with advice on a plethora of spots for eating and drinking. My boyfriend and I felt right at home in her loft- it was clean, spacious and comfortable. The location also can not be beat! It's located right next to some of the best food in Durham, and is within walking distance to most attractions (including the Bull's stadium!). We truly enjoyed our stay at Ann's loft, and plan to visit again if we find ourselves in the area again.
