Martz Farm is amazing - Miriam and Joe are incredible hosts. We loved every minute of our stay. The place is pretty far out of Benque but this adds to the experience. Be sure to stay for dinner- they cook up some of the best meals you'll have in Belize. Can't say enough positive things about our stay.
My husband and I spent 3 nights in the treehouse at the Martz's farm and can truly say it was one of the best experiences we have ever had while traveling. Miriam and Joe are wonderful host with a beautiful farm and 3 lovely children. Joe took us on horseback riding through the jungle on a private cave tour and then we spent the next day on their boat exploring different waterfalls and swimming holes. The food is incredible, and the treehouse is lit with candles and very romantic. We cannot wait to come back and stay longer on the Martz farm. We highly recommend staying here.
Very fun and beautiful location. Super friendly family. Felt very welcomed and accepted. A really cool experience. Tree house is better than described. Make sure to bring flashlight and or a battery powered lantern .
Boat trip was great. Waterfall hiking so much fun!
Would highly recommend.
This was one of the best experiences I have had. The Martinez's were tremendous hosts, making us feel right at home, with excellent meals and accommodations. The excursions we did were very exciting and refreshing. It felt very personal, not like your typical guided tours.
I would highly recommend staying with them and getting to know each member of the family. They are wonderful, interesting, people and I have no doubt that one day we will be back there.
The Martz Farm is a wonderful experience .. We stayed in the treehouse for 2 nights and it was so tranquil. Miriam and Joe are very welcoming to their farm and make you feel very comfortable. The food was also amazing ! I will definitely be coming back next year to stay here .
We stayed at the treehouse for a week over New Year 2014/2015 and had an incredible time. It is impossible to put the tranquil atmosphere into words but imagine the perfect jungle hideaway, hand-built by the hosts with traditional materials, combined with the hospitality and invaluable local knowledge of the hosts. When we didn't lounge in the hammocks listening to the waterfall or watching howler monkeys from our bed we went on daytrips, all of which were stunning. Horsetracking through the dense jungle and cave-exploring with Joe and his gentle, happy horses and the river-tour with his brother Laz who taught us to climb up waterfalls were equally exhilarating and soul soothing experiences. We were also lucky to visit the nearby Xunantunich when it was almost deserted, taking in the magical atmosphere of this Mayan sites. The wildlife all around us, the home-cooked food and enjoyable company of the Martinez family made this an unforgettable stay. Thank you!
We passed a great time on Miriam's Farm in Belize! This hosting is just out of daily travelling, it's one of this highlights you are looking for when you are travelling. Embedded in the jungle of the Mountain Pine Ridge Nationalforest you can enjoy pure nature and a great hospitality. Miriam and her family made our stay unforgettable and - whenever we come back - we will not hesitate to come back to stay there again. The room was very spacious and clean, the bathroom was nicely decorated with enough towels and space. We took the daily tour on the nearby lake, including the visit of 3 different waterfalls - a perfect trip with some unforgettable surprises - perfectly guided by some family members of Miriam. Thank you all for this great experience in the jungle of Belize!
Miriam & Joe were the perfect hosts at Martz Farm, a jungle oasis they've carefully crafted over years of hard work. If you're looking to unplug from technology and plugin to a beautiful jungle ecosystem of monkeys, iguana, and toucan this is the place to do it. We cannot say enough good things about the people, the food, and the beauty of this amazing place.

Staying with Miriam and her family was one of the most unique and memorable experiences we've ever had. We truly embraced the adventure of staying in the middle of the jungle, with no electricity or hot water. The treehouse was so serene and romantic. We slept extremely well, thanks to the soothing sound of the waterfall below. Miriam cooked us delicious meals. It sort of felt like we were on a wellness retreat - getting quality sleep, eating nourishing food, embracing the outdoors, and connecting with people. Miriam also provided us with some options for excursions during the day. We decided to take a pontoon boat out with her brother-in-law. It was a full day outing, where we hiked down to the river, stopped at a few waterfalls, waded in several swimming holes, and saw iguanas, crocodiles, snakes, and birds along the way. Being from a big city, we embraced this break from the hustle and bustle. We hope to return to the farm for a longer stay in the future!
I stayed in the Jungle hideaway treehouse at the Martz farm and can honestly say it's an unforgettable experience. Miriam, Joe and family are wonderful hosts and their property is magical. If you're looking to experience the real Belize, learn about Mayan culture, explore the jungle, this is the place. I will definitely be back!
