I am a young professional in the non-profit food/garden education field and live in Brooklyn, New York. Originally from Seattle, I enjoy rainy days, cups of warm tea, and spending time outdoors when it's not too hot or too cold.
I feel lucky to have had the opportunity to travel to many countries within South American, and speak Spanish conversationally. I love to explore new places on foot, taking in the sites and sounds, and through food, experiencing a place and culture through its tastes and flavors. I love traveling alone for the opportunity to meet new and interesting people, and with friends for the opportunity to create memorable shared experiences.
When I have the time, I like to cook up a storm. When I don't, I like to explore the never-ending foodscape of New York City. I'm also an ice cream fanatic, and am fortunate to live within walking distance of three of the best local cream makers in Brooklyn (Manhattan has some pretty good ones as well).
Some other things I like to do in my spare time are garden, bike to the park with friends or a good book, enjoy live music in an intimate setting, buy cheap tickets to amazing dance performances, discover new pockets of the city, escape the city, and share meals with friends, especially picnics and potlucks.
As a host, I'm happy to share recommendations for your stay in New York, especially if you'd like to discover some of the city's hidden gems.
