Je suis le gérant de Chez Khadija. Et je vous souhait bien venue à Fes!
This was not a good experience at all. The Riad has great potential as it is in a really great location, but there are some major problems. The main one is that it is all open onto a courtyard and the manager and his wife sleep downstairs with no partition, no door, so they can be heard breathing and moving all the time, so evidently they can hear you. Not great for honeymoon couples certainly.
You do not have a key to the house so you have to knock when you come back, after dinner out to be greeted by the manager in his pyjamas is quite strange.
Then he wakes at 5am to start preparing breakfast. Remember everything is open so you will hear all of this.
The bathroom is dirty and the toilet runs water constantly.
There is a lovely roof terrace with views across Fez, but there is no furniture and so it is not welcoming, as this is really the only nice place to be it is such a shame not to make use of it.
We left a night early, tired after little sleep.
Petit dar 'les chambres sont très agréables , l accueil sympathique , merci à said pour ses
This is a wonderful Riad to find safety and comfort in the Medina of Fes. Just like the city it is old and worn in with Moroccan charm that feels real. You really feel like you are in someone's home, making it a really warm and hosipitable place to stay. Khadija is more than available, and accomodating when it comes to your needs and Said, the house attendent, is very kind and attentive.
I would definitely stay there again,
Thank you for making our stay really beautiful.
Chez Khadija is located in the old house in the middle of Fes medina, yet is easily to find and it is very comfortable. The breakfast is good too.
The location of the riad is great, right in the heart of the medina, and obviously the price is great. However, a number of other things left a lot to be desired. The riad was extremely cold day and night and was badly lit. I know it is not the high season yet but it was much warmer outside than inside which meant we did not want to spend much time at the riad!
The main bedroom only has a curtain seperating it off from the central courtyard area and as a result we cold and were woken up by the cockerill next door crowing all night! There is also a mosque next door which gets going very early. The bathroom is not very nice at all.
The second bedroom is very small and has bunk beds; even with the light on it is very dark. The bed I slept in seemed to have sand in it too. The second bathroom was horrible. It was tiny and it smelt, as well as having a leak and a soaking wet mat on the floor outside it.
Saaid the caretaker was great, such a sweet man, although he speaks no english at all. Khadija came round on 2 of the mornings although she didn't seem to understand too much of what we said either. We arrived at night and although Saaid brought us to the riad it would have ben helpful if Khadija had come too so that we could get our bearings a bit.
I don't want to sound too negative as actually for the most part the riad was very clean and spacious, however, I felt that with a little more care and attention it could have been an AMAZING place to stay.
The accomodation was well located in the middle of Fés medina and clean, but quite cold and thus not so cosy and appealing (we were there in December). The host Khadija was friendly, breakfast was typical Maroccain.
Chez Khadija was beautifully appointed with local crafts and (email hidden). It felt very authentic and we had cozy comforters, which is always a plus. During the winter, while it has heating, can be a little chilly because the central courtyard doesn't close off. It's very reasonably priced, and our caretaker met us at the entrance to the Medina. In the winter, the Medina closes up around 7pm and if you're a group of women, you probably won't feel comfortable roaming around by yourself, so we stayed in and watched movies about Northern Africa. The caregiver of the place was very attentive and the owner stopped by every day to see if we wanted to sign up for tours.`````
Chez Khadija is a fantastic Riad in the heart of the Medina, its very authentic and the room is huge! Saaid, the housekeeper will take good care of you and make you a great breakfast and Khadija, who owns the house speaks good english and can help you organise your stay. I recommend this room 100%
