Honestly I absolutely loved this listing. It's on the Upper West Side, right by Central Park (read: one block) and maybe four blocks from the Cathedral Parkway (A/C/E) train stop. For those younger and/or unfamiliar with New York, this was slightly far from the areas I was frequenting (East Village, Chelsea, Brooklyn Heights), but it was an incredible value for being in a desirable part of Manhattan anyway. I didn't mind climbing four flights of stairs without an elevator because the room was great and the apartment very well kept. I didn't realize there was another guest (presumably also AirBnB) behind the shuttered doors that appeared to be a closet, but I didn't really notice them much and it didn't take away from my visit. Erin made every effort to get me the keys as soon as I arrived in the city (she sent her roommate), and she seemed very sweet. At that price, I would easily book this place again for my next visit to New York, hands down.
Little space for three people (two of us had to share bed). The room has no door, there's a folding screen instead that it is not shown in the photo. Uncomfortable the presence of the three dogs, following us and defecating and peeing twice in the middle of the corridor. Dishes not washed at our arrival. Good location and nice neighbourhood. Michael, Erin's contact who gave us the key, nice person willing to listen and to give information of anything. The dogs stole us a pack of cookies, Michael bought another pack for us. I would stay again but just for few days and being more disposed to consent the company of the dogs.
Michael was nice and let me have my privacy, but the dogs are too much to make it worth it. They just knock the 'divider' down when they want to come in. Sheets were clean upon arrival, but the dogs used them during the day. The bigger dog was very aggressive.
This apartment is in a great location on the Upper West Side with easy access to the 1, B or C trains. The apartment is spacious and very clean. The room itself has a very comfortable day bed and a personal television. I didn't get to meet Erin, but Michael assisted me with checking in and he was very helpful and friendly. The day I was leaving I got to meet two dogs who live in the apartment and they are adorable and very friendly. The only downside to my stay was that I noticed that the apartment has a distinct smell that didn't agree with me. Not sure what you can do to fix that, as I was unsure of its source.
I did not have a chance to meet Erin, I only met Michael.
There were another guy in the apartment, but I did not meet him.
Michael only gave me these keys, and walked me through the apartment.
DOGS, dogs and more dogs... Some of them are big...
The apartment and bedroom smells like "animals".
A lot of dog hair in the room including my bed.
Bathroom is OK.
I stayed only 2 nights, I believe this is maximum, if you are looking for a place only to sleep.
I would not come back, there is a good hostel around the corner (I have been there also), it is better.
Não tive chance de conhecer Erin, conheci apenas Michael. Havia também um outro cara no apto, mas não tive contato.
Michael apenas me mostrou o apto e entregou as chaves, nada mais.
Cachorros, muitos cachorros no apartamento, e alguns grandes...
I didn't meet Erin, but if she is like her roommate [Michael] then she is laid back and easily accessible. There was no problem meeting Michael in the morning of check in - he was flexible considering that he had work that morning. Great location, safe and quick walk to A,B and 1 trains. The kitchen and bathroom are newly renovated and clean towels were provided. The wifi is fast. Overall, worth it! I'd stay again.
I didn't meet Erin. I dealt with her roommate Michael. Michael was friendly and very accessible, and made the logistics very easy. The room was as pictured, however the mattress under the covers was covered in what looked like dog hair (they have two very large dogs who can be very intimidating, though they are trained and only bark). I ended up leaving rather than sleeping in the bed. Definitely not up to the airbnb standard I'd expect for the amount they're asking, though I booked on such short notice I suppose I can't complain.
- her roomate is a very nice and considerate guy,
- they are very flexible with check in and check out times,
- the location is perfect!
- when we arrived, the place was not clean. They organized by the end of the day, but real cleaning was only made in the day that we were leaving, which madeus very upset
- The bathroom is not that clean. The bathroom's curtain have a lot of fungus and a lot of hair in the bath tub, which made it clog all the time.
- We had the bad luck to be there in the same day of the dogs. Yes, plural! We saw three dogs for a 2 room apartment, one of them was almost my size, which made us very scary of entering the apartment unless the dogs was in the bedroom.
- Finally, in the last day we saw a MOUSE. Lucky us it was the last day.
If you are considering stay in the apartment just to sleep, I recommend because it is a good price and location. Otherwise, I do not recommend at all.
The place was nice and clean. I really wasn't there for very long, just to sleep. I was, however, disappointed that no adequate pillows were provided.
Great neighborhood, great place, I look forward in booking with Erin again ;)
