Loads of positive points to talk about but I`ll start with the negatives first:-
Don't expect to whizz up your wifi and be able to get the kids occupied with Netflix, we could only achieve wifi on the landing outside the front door, if we were lucky. As Laura wasn't there to greet us it was a real shame there wasn't any kind of welcome pack detailing local knowledge a little bit about the accommodation, its history, what we could do there (which was lots) best restaurants, sites distances events and she seems to speak good English.
There are I think two holiday apartments with the rest of the buildings split up into several private flats, I don't think this is clear in the listings but does make it more authentic rather than for just tourism. The father and owners of the farm are lovely and real country people, generous and live on site but speak almost no English.
Dogs yap a bit but not too bad.
Spotless apartment big bedrooms, new beds (the hosts separated the twin beds for our kids and gave us an extra pillow without batting an eyelid) Kitchen more than adequate and lovely terrace (note you are on the first and second floors)
Views are to die for, you are in the middle of nowhere but 5min walk from the hamlet with very rustic bar, essential store and restaurant. In a week we got to Siena, the coast and water park are all about 40 mins drive and around is the National Park with great places to visit. This felt like real Tuscany and not the holiday brochure stuff.
Pool is big and clean
Franco and his wife (plus 2 kids) who were our contacts live and work on site grow all manner of veg and were kind enough to give us some of there produce and show me and my kids around the farm which was my kids high light. He even took them for a 2min spin on his tractor. My Italian is non existent and had these possibilities been expressed to us more clearly in some form it would have helped the experience a little (now you know). I`m sure that if there was anything we wanted they would have helped as much as possible.
Overall we loved it.
My highlight was being presented a bottle of wine from Franco made with his grapes.
