Very touristy but still an absolute favorite place with lots of history. Sit at the bar for one of the best martinis in the city, enjoy oysters on the half shell, and stroll across the street to take in the sights of the White House. Easily accessible by bus.

“Le Diplomate pays homage to French café culture by providing a comfortable place for enjoying classics such as Onion Soup Gratinée, Steak Frites, and Escargots. Towering plateaus of oysters, clams, shrimp cocktail and lobster are the perfect start to a meal, and the crusty made-in-house baguettes are the ideal accompaniment to a selection of regional French cheeses.”

“From ZAGAT: These “phenomenal” Indian destinations take a centuries-old cuisine to a “whole new level” with “innovative” interpretations like crispy spinach “unlike anything you’ve ever had” served in “beautiful”, “modern” settings that rank among DC’s “swankiest”; “friendly, unobtrusive” servers put novices at ease, while an “accessible” price point (for high-end dining) means one must “plan ahead” for prime-time reservations. Our favorite "must have" dish is the Palak Chaat.”

“I literally cannot say how excellent this joint is! Hanks will not disappoint! Start off with an oyster shooter. Try the the seafood plateau, lobster deviled eggs (to DIE for), lobster bisque (so decadent with huge chunks of lobster), sea scallops, and a lobster roll. It is ALL wonderful! Service is excellent. Eat here! Great place for dinner. FYI they change their menu all the time.”
