The hike through the Oak and Hickory forest to the falls is so pretty. Little Switzerland is about ten minutes away if you want to check it out and grab some food and drink.

Crabtree Falls is located at Milepost 339.5 on the Blue Ridge Parkway (about 45 miles north of Asheville) and is accessed by a woodland hiking trail with two options: an easier 3-mile hike to and from on the same trail, with a steady descent and return climb; or a more strenuous 3.5-mile loop trail that climbs a ridge above the 70-ft. waterfall.

This trail is wonderful, and is a giant loop, closer to 3 miles, with many rock stairs to climb up and down. The falls are gigantic! It's a good hike when you'd like to do a little more work, but it's also bigger kid friendly (depends on the kids!).
