Why locals recommend it
There are two trails I like to run on from Arguello Gate: the Upper Ecology Lovers’ Trail to the Presidio Promenade and back, which is three miles and pretty moderate. The Lower Ecology Lovers’ Trail to the Batteries to the Bluffs Trail and to the Bay Area Ridge Trail covers the majority of the Presidio and is roughly 6.5 miles. It is a bit more advanced. Along the Mountain Lake Park Trail, which is to the left of the Arguello Gate, there are parcourse stations that include a chin-up bar and a balance beam. Each section comes with instructions on the workout; there are 15 stations total along the Mountain Lake Park Trail.

The Presidio, a 1,500-acre park on a former military post, is a major outdoor recreation hub. It has forested areas, miles of trails, a golf course and scenic overlooks. Other highlights include grassy Crissy Field with Golden Gate Bridge views, Civil War–era Fort Point and sandy Baker Beach…

From the sky high buildings to the small particles of sand, the Presidio had endless adventure for all kinds! Don't forget to visit the Walt Disney Museum!

There are many places in the park where you can stand and overlook the Golden Gate Bridge as well as the Pacific Ocean. The site is also a recognized California Historical Landmark

- Incredible walks, hikes and views!!! Closest entrances are on El Camino and 25th Avenue or Lake and 15th Avenue. However - I usually drive and park. In addition to the walks there are also loads of activities in and around here - such as: The Disneyland Museum, Golden Gate Bridge Visitor Center…

Great for running, walking and forgetting you are in a major city! The 2-mile Andy Goldsworthy art loop is definitely worth checking out.
