Tips from locals
If you want to have a look over Cologne but also see the Dom, that's the place to be. On the other side of the river, next to Messe Deutz, you won't have to climb the stairs and it costs about the same as walking up the Dom. Closed with heavy rain or wind as you're standing outside. If it's you…
Discover Cologne and its surroundings – with a direct view of the neighbouring Cathedral – in a way you've never seen it before! Just 3€, reached by elevator, so you don't have to climb the stairs of the Cologne Cathedral.
Great view over the city. I really enjoy the sunsets in the summer up there. Price is pretty cheap for an adult, just 3 €

“Since its establishment in 1957 as the first European cable car to cross a river - in this case, the Rhine - the Cologne cable car has carried millions of passengers. The views are, of course, the big draw, particularly those of the Old Town and Cologne Cathedral. For more great views, a visit to Cologne Telecommunications Tower is worthwhile. Located northwest of Cologne's Old Town, Colonius, as it's known locally, is 243 meters high with a superb viewing platform and a revolving restaurant. KölnTriangle, a striking contemporary building on Ottoplatz, also has a panoramic viewing platform.”

“At the back of Cologne cathedral, you'll find the footpath across the iconic railway bridge that connects the city centre with "Deutz", the veedel (quarter) at the eastern side of the river Rhine. Once you've reached the Rhineboulevard on the other side, you'll have the perfect skyline view on the old town.”

“This is my favourite park in Cologne. A long time ago this park was build for Germanys biggest exhibition for gardening. Even if the park is not as glamorous as it was when the exhibition was ongoing it is still a beautiful place to spent some time outside. ”
