Tips from locals
Seriously this bar is super cool, and they have a back like garden-open area type deal with lights and corn-hole. + a stage where they usually have some great live music. All-around awesome.
The great thing about Satellite is it has always been a place where all age groups happily mix and enjoy each other. The have a huge selection of beer, their wine is fair and they have hard liquor too. There's a great outdoor "back yard" with seating and corn hole and a Sunday night Bluegrass jam…
Great bar with large beer selection. Large inside and patio with food trucks and live music. We love to go on Sundays (starts at 6pm) for live bluegrass music! it's so fun to see the dancers as well.
Chill bar with loads of beer options. You can bring your dogs here and let them introduce you to strangers! great live music weekly along with outdoor movies if the weather is nice. There is also a great food truck onsite.

“Palate is located in a rapidly growing and gentrifying (oops, sorry, I know that's a bad word nowadays) area downtown, away from the mad crush of the "bar scene". It's an interesting use of space, and has great outdoor areas. Great beer and wine selection. Sometimes they have fun bands, but check their FB page for music and food truck info. Located in the same block as The District restaurant.”

“A lot of guests asked me to put this on the list. I still like Winnie's Tavern for a burger. But if you want to be in the middle of downtown and sit outside, this is a good spot.”

“Disclaimer: I'm not a beer drinker! Another very popular spot, with indoor and outdoor areas. Located almost under the Cape Fear Memorial Bridge, so it's away from the downtown bar scene. They occasionally have live music but honestly, the acoustics ain't great inside. The wine is terrible, so I usually drink a White Claw Seltzer. They typically have a food truck so check their FB page for music and food.”

“Awesome little sandwich shop in the Brooklyn Arts District with a huge variety of options! They've got some of the best sandwiches in town, and you really can't go wrong with their tortas. Closed Sundays”
