Here one can get a dramatic feeling of the great battle of Cullodon. This was the changing point for the Scots, where they were forbidden to speak the "Gallic" & wear tartans. Great museum there, which gives a good description. This place is also known from the series "Outlander"
Powerfully moving moor where the 1745 Jacobite Rising came to its tragic end. Last battle site on UK soil. Bonnie Prince Charlie led and lost his fight for the British Crown.
Battle of Culloden took place here in 1716, well worth a walk around the site. Also Culloden woods is a popular woods for walking or running.
