Why locals recommend it
There’s a swimming pool really close to Santa Monica for those people that don’t really want to be in the sand and in the ocean. It’s a great family spot for finding some parental headspace. This is a great place to spend the afternoon and watch the sunset. As the sun falls away, we're normally left with a greater sense of ease and peace of mind. You can turn up with nothing: they dish out sunscreen and towels, and there are chairs and umbrellas. Sometimes it’s nice to go somewhere and know that you don’t have to think about anything.
Tips from locals
Heated pool right on Santa Monica Beach that is only $10! Get there early to park and get tickets (around 8am), then grab breakfast at the beach cafe until the pool opens. Great little playground next to the cafe as well
This is the best-kept secret in Santa Monica. It looks like a private club, but is open to the public. They have a pool, volleyball courts, splash pad for little ones, restaurant and a boardwalk that goes all the way down to the water's edge. All the grounds are well-maintained throughout the day,…
A great place to take the kids to the beach, spend some time in the pool, play in the playground, and splash in the splash pad. This is very popular spot, especially on the weekends.
A public pool at the beach... the best of both worlds... what more can we say?
