About this place
MTN is an izakaya driven by California seasonality. The restaurant sources from local farmers, sustainable purveyors, and family-run operations. The menu offers house made organic ramen, gyoza, hand-rolls and small plates. We have a selection of rare sake, shōchū cocktails, natural wines, hard to find beers and many house made non-alcoholic drinks.
Tips from locals
$$$ Travis Lett (Gjelina/Gjusta) brings his hip California approach to Japanese gastropub fare. It's a scene, but worth the wait.
Take a quick trip to Abbot Kinney in Venice for Japanese dishes with LA’s farm to table signature. *The veggie ramen is one of the most hearty, delicious, and interesting dishes in LA. To quote the late Jonathan Gold “…the coziness can be almost magical.” Eating at MTN is a sensory experience…
Authentic Japanese from a star chef - can come off a bit pretentious - definitely a culinary experience.
