Tips from locals
Great atmosphere with English fare, except...fish and chips (no fryer)! Grab a pint and enjoy exploring the rest that downtown has to offer.
Six Pence may seem touristy with its red telephone box out front, but it's the closest thing to an honest English pub you'll likely find in the southeast. It's frequented by Savannah's British expats, and you’re bound to encounter some colorful characters at the bar.

“A strange place, you'll see Spudnik's giant projection sign on the Broughton St. parking garage when they're open. Famous for serving potatoes and nothing but potatoes, it somehow really works! Especially with great ingredients and when you're trying to sober up at 3:30AM… ”

“Now in the old Primary Art Supply building (everything in Savannah used to be something else), Civvie's is an awesome little used, vintage and consignment clothing shop with a smattering of other interesting things. The downstairs is even an antique store! ”

“The Book Lady is probably the nicest bookstore in the whole southeast and a perfect place to stop for book lovers or anyone else. Specializing in used and antiquarian books, it's nestled in a step down on Liberty St. and is as cozy and eclectic as you'd hope a used bookstore to be. Stop in and say hello to Joni (The Book Lady)! ”
