Although 30 minutes drive out of PIetermaritzburg, it's a lovely sight to see when the falls are flowing. Give it a miss if there's a drought. There are also shops in the vicinity to browse through, and on occassional Sundays there is a flea market.

The falls can be spectacular as they plummet down off the edge of the cliff of the Umgeni river down into the pools below. Several cafes and shops surround the site, pefect for finding gifts or a bite to eat

“We are about 5km from Piggly Wiggly. A great place for breakfast and shopping! Whether it be art, linen, chocolate, wine, bakery, toys, gifts, wonderful soaps - you will find it there. And it is open for lunch too! You can even do the Piggly Wiggly Park Run on a Saturday morning - do not be taken in by the "dare I say a bit boring start" it ends on a very high note - save your energy - and then enjoy breakfast!”
