I recommend seeing the Lincoln Memorial and the other monuments at night. It's cooler and the view are beautiful.

One of the best views in DC. You can see the entire national mall all the way to the Capitol building when you stand on the stairs of the Lincoln. We would sit here at night when I was a teenager. Long, long, long ago.

Built in 1915, this is a beautiful, columned memorial dedicated to Abraham Lincoln. It’s situated at the end of a large reflecting pool that overlooks the WWII Memorial and the Washington Monument.

“(4.5 miles) We have probably spent more hours here than any other place in DC. There is something for everyone including hands-on demonstrations, 3-D IMAX movies ( these cost), and a McDonalds that sometimes has aircraft from the museum in their Happy Meals. Even if you’re an adult, it may be worth it to order a couple of Happy Meals.”
