“One of the most grand standing, majestically designed churches in the Philippines, and perhaps one of the most admired within the Catholic community, the Manila Cathedral has gone through generations and has stood since the Spanish Colonial Era.”

  • Park
“The Paco Park and Cemetery is a beautiful and quiet spot in the suburb of Paco in Manila. It is designed in a circular form -- in a structure of two concentric stone walls with a promenade on top -- with a rotunda church (St Pancratius) and old-fashioned gardens in the center. Built in 1820, the niches in the walls of Paco Cemetery received the bodies of the victims of the cholera epidemic of that year. A former Spanish Governor General of the Philippines, Ramon Solano y Lladeral, and a number of bishops are buried in the cemetery. Three priests, Fathers José A. Burgos, Mariano C. Gomez and Jacinto R. Zamora, who were executed in 1872 for their suspected role in the Cavite mutiny (a 19th century insurrection against Spanish rule), are buried in this Park. The priests (often referred to collectively as Gomburza) were an inspiration for later Filipino independence advocates such as José Rizal and are regarded as martyrs by the Philippine nation”

  • City Hall
“Manila City Hall is located in the historic center of Ermita, Manila bounded by Natividad Almeda López Street to the north, Mayor Antonio Villegas Road to the east, and by Taft Avenue and Padre Burgos Avenue to the west. Originally, it was a part of a new government center envisioned by Daniel Burnham, which is now Rizal Park. Other buildings in this complex are the Old Congress Building, which nowadays is the home of the National Museum Of The Philippines, Museum of the Filipino People, and the Department of Tourism Building. The Complex The building was designed and planned by Antonio Toledo. All the trees inside and around the vicinity of the City Hall were planted by Manila Mayor Ramon Bagatsing during the early seventies. Clock Tower The clock tower has become a trademark for Manila and the city hall. At nighttime, the tower is illuminated with its details highlighted by lighting. Every hour, the bell is rung three times followed by a melody. It is recognized as the largest clock tower in the Philippines. ”
