Stay just around the corner from the park
A stay at Lyman's Place is an authentic western experience. It is a newly restored century-old cabin situated on our 400 acre ranch, centrally located between Zion National Park, Bryce, and the Grand Canyon. You will have stunning daytime views, and unparallel night skies. You can relax around the campfire or hike in our private canyon. Lyman's Place is close to shopping and resturants, yet off the beaten path. It's our hidden gem, a comfortable, relaxing, and one-of-a-kind experience.
Lyman's Place is an original homesteader's one room cabin. Built in the early 20th century, it has recently been restored and finished. It features the original wood plank floors, rough sawn lumber beams and paneling, as well as hand finished cob walls. It functions as a cute and cozy studio, with the entire living, kitchen, dining, and sleeping quarters in one room. It's ideal for traveling couples or adventurous singles. A NOTE ON OUR CANCELLATION POLICY: We started out on AirBnb using the moderate cancellation policy as we wanted to be flexible with our guests, (even though 60% of all AirBnb hosts use the strict policy), but we started getting a lot of cancellations. We had people cancelling close to their dates just because they changed their mind and even not telling us at all why they canceled. So we decided to switch to the strict policy. Even so, we're flexible, not unreasonable. As a general rule, if a guest lets us know that they want to cancel at least 45 days before their reservation, no matter for what reason, we give a full refund. If it's less than 45 days, and it's a matter that's out of the control of the guest, emergency or weather issues, etc. we will will definitely try our best to work with you. We provide simple breakfast items for you like granola, eggs, fruit, yogurt & juice. We also provide tea, coffee, and essentials like oil, spices, etc. There is a well stocked kitchenette which includes all the necessities for cooking. You will have a mini-fridge, microwave, double ceramic hot plate, toaster oven, coffee maker, blender, and food processor. There is no regular oven for baking. There are plenty of dishes, pots & pans, & cooking tools to help you make that perfect meal. We also offer essentials like soap, paper towels, tin foil, etc. We try to be as thoughtful as possible in preparing the space to accommodate you. You will have clean, comfortable linens, extra blankets, towels, washcloths, etc. Lyman's Place has a full bathroom, however, only showering is recommended. The current hot water heater is not sufficient to fill the bathtub. You will have enough hot water for about an 8-10 minute shower or longer, depending which shower head setting you are using. You will also need to wait about 30 minutes in between showers for the tank to heat up again, so you may want to plan accordingly. Your privacy is respected on our ranch. You have your own private cabin, bath, porch, and reserved parking area. You will have access to a shared yard, firepit area, adjacent treehouse, and garden when in season. . You will also have access to hike around our private canyon, but please follow all host rules and recommendations before doing so. AN IMPORTANT NOTE TO OUR GUESTS: The North Rim of the Grand Canyon is closed from December 1st-May 15. The only ways to visit the GC during this time is through the "Desert View" or South Rim. Both of these locations are approximately 4 hours from from the cabin. During the open season from May 15 to December 1st we are 2 hours from the north rim. We are available for assistance, questions, directions, etc. We are happy to visit and say hello. We may build a campfire in the shared firepit area and invite you to an impromptu concert from our host or to roast marshmallows. (We generally use the fire pit from March through November) We love to visit but of course respect your privacy and space as well.
NOTE: The cabin is in "Cane Beds, AZ", 30 minutes away from "Fredonia, AZ". AirBnb automatically sets the location as "Fredonia" because we share the same zip code. We live in a safe and respectful rural neighborhood. Neighbors here watch out for each other and we will do the same for you. We have lived here for 20 years and cannot remember a single crime being committed in the neighborhood. Emergency responders are here within minutes of being called if necessary. There are cows, horses, and mini-farms and ranches all over. We hope you love the beauty of our rural area. Some places you might want to visit: ~Coral Pink Sand Dunes- 9 miles ~Gooseberry Mesa-15 miles ~Grand Canyon North Rim- 89 miles ~Water Canyon- 10 miles ~Pipe Springs- 15 miles ~Kanab, Utah- 43 miles ~Kolob Reservoir via Kolob Terrace (Heavenly Valley)- 63 miles ~Hurricane, Utah- 30 miles ~Sand Hollow State Park- 40 miles ~Zion National Park- via Smithsonian Butte 28 miles ~St. George, UT- 48.4 miles ~Zion National Park- via highway 50 miles ~Bryce Canyon- 90 miles ~Lake Powell- 105 miles ~Page- 110 Miles ~Antelope Canyon- 120 miles ~Las Vegas- 168 miles No public transportation, but the roads are paved up until our driveway, which is dirt and gravel. We live in a rural area on a ranch and farm and have many animals and pets. Some are penned in and some free-range like our chickens and dogs. You may hear our dogs barking in the middle of the night or a rooster crow. You may hear coyotes laughing and yelping. Our home is located about 100 feet from the cabin and our children often place outside. There is a potential for noise if you are sitting outside but we encourage our children to be quiet and respectful of guests that are outside. We also have a few vehicles outside in the shared parking areas. Please be aware of this. There is also another Airbnb cabin located about 100 feet away from the cabin, although guests have their own firepits and private outdoor spaces We welcome you as our guests and try to be as accommodating as possible. However, farm life happens...:) Please try to be patient if unexpected issues arise during your stay. We are always open for recommendations and comments/suggestions and strive to offer our guests a wonderful experience here.

Tiny House Cozy Cabin by Zion, Grand Canyon, Bryce
$ 72
Our home is located on Zion Ponderosa Resort property, just 8 miles from the east entrance of Zion National Park. Come enjoy the peaceful serenity of our 3 acre property filled with Ponderosa Pines. Hikes like Observation Point (favorite), Cable mountain and others are just minutes from our home. Our home is perfect for accommodating a family or two out on summer vacation, but cozy enough for a couples weekend. Come enjoy seclusion while still being close to Zion, Bryce, and resort amenities!
Our beautiful 3 bedroom 2 bathroom home is set back on a 3 acre wooded lot. It is 1.7 miles inside the Zion Ponderosa Resort property, which is bordering the east boundary of Zion National Park. We are 8 miles from the east entrance of Zion. The lot is peaceful and quiet, the only usual noise is the swaying of the towering Ponderosa Pines. The home is perfect for a cozy get away for a couple, or a larger family looking to experience Zion, Bryce, and Zion Ponderosa Resort. Bedroom 1 is upstairs and has a queen bed with an on suite bathroom and walk in closet, sleeps 2. The closet is actually quite large and is usual where my wife and I set up a pack and play for our little ones, we provide a pack and play stored in this closet. Bedroom 2 is downstairs and has a queen bed with a closet, sleeps 2. Bedroom 3 is downstairs and has two bunk beds, both twin over full, also with a regular closet, sleeps up to 6. Bathroom 1 is located in the upstairs bedroom. Bathroom 2 is shared by the two downstairs bedrooms. Extra pillows and blankets are in each of the closets for the pull out couches. The kitchen is fully equipped with all cooking needs including fridge, stove, oven, water dispenser, pots, pans, cups, plates, utensils, crock pot, coffee maker, toaster, griddle, outside grill. The living room downstairs has a large sectional which has a pull out couch in it. There is a ottoman that has extra blankets, a 42" tv, dvd player, and a real wood burning fire place. The upstairs loft has two sofas, the sofa against the wood wall is a pull out couch. There is also a second 42" tv, and dvd player. Outside there is a full length front porch and back porch. Two large pick nick tables are out on the back deck for you to enjoy meals outside. There is a propane grill out on the back porch for your use. An outside fire pit is located on the west end of the house where you can roast smore's and and enjoy the beautiful night sky. The large surrounding Ponderosa pines provide shadowing for most of the property and house throughout majority of the day. Because of the shade provided, 6500 ft elevation, as well as fans all throughout the house the house stays nice and cool even in the summer. If cooler temperatures are desired in the house we have provided three A/C units that can be turned on. There is one in each of bedrooms 1 and 2 and also one for the common areas of the house. Also cracking a window and turning on the fans will cool it quickly in the evening. . In addition to the wood burning fire place there is also a furnace that will warm through the whole house. We have stayed in our cabin during both cold seasons and hot and have never had a problem with being too cold or hot. There is also a washer, but no dryer, just a clothes line to hang dry in the back yard. There are coin operated washer and dryer facilities available at Zion Ponderosa if needed. Everything is fully furnished for the house! The whole property is yours to fall in love with! The house is on 3 acres plus lot, but is surrounded by thousands of quiet wilderness. Popular Zion hikes such as Observation Point (favorite), Cable Mountain, and Deer Trap, are just minutes from the house. We have also provided access to Zion Ponderosa Resorts 2 tier pools and hot tubs. Just check in with the front desk and let them know where you are staying and they will charge our account for you to swim. It will take just about 5 minutes to drive the 1.7 mile dirt road to and from the resort. We live close by and work at Zion Ponderosa Resort. Please feel free to let us know of any needs you have. We are also available to answer questions and give suggestions for your trip here to Zion with your family. We are locals here and just love sharing Zion Ponderosa and the national park with all of our guests.
You will see very few people when at the house, which you will LOVE after spending a day in the busy park. Close by is Zion Ponderosa Resort that provides you with options of resort amenities, while still being able to retreat to privacy and serenity. Those you do see are likely traveling to explore the hidden gems of Observation Point (top out rather than bottom up), and Cable Mountain hikes. Either of these hikes will allow you to spend your day hiking seeing very few people, while providing an ending of what some consider the most spectacular view of Zion. It will take about 13 minutes to travel the 8 miles to the east entrance of the park. Depending on time of year and traffic, it will take about 35 minutes to get to the west end of Zion where the visitor center is. Bryce Canyon is about 1.5 hr drive, Grand Canyon 2.5 hr drive, Lake Powell 1.5 hr drive, Coral Pink Sand Dunes 45 min drive. There is year round access to our cabin depending on snowfall. To get there you will need to drive 1.7 miles on a gravel road. This road is maintained and fine for all cars. If there is heavy snow fall it can make the roads impassible. We can help make arrangements for lodging at Zion Ponderosa in the case of unexpected snow fall during any winter bookings. Zion Ponderosa provides activities great for all ages as well as dining options if desired. Swimming in their pool is provided by us, as well as some other free activities like tennis courts, basketball courts, play ground, volley ball court, ping pong, and billiards. Many other guided activities are offered for additional cost, check out their website www.zionponderosa.com for more details. I can't give a higher recommendation than getting a dutch apple fried ice-cream at Ray's, their onsite restaurant, after a long day of hiking. Due to the remoteness of the cabin, water is delivered from the Ponderosa Resort to the water holding tanks at the house. Water for the house is pressurized and safe to use. Since it is held in our tanks we suggest drinking from the 5 gallon filtered water jugs we provide. Water from the tap is usable for cooking, showering and everything else. We will provide all drinking water desired during your stay. Phone service is dependent on provider. I have Verizon and it works great, even has 3G most of the time, although it is a bit spotty. Other providers may not work well. Zion Ponderosa is the closest place to go and get free wifi if needed. There are places like their coffee bar, restaurant, pool or other common areas you could go sit and connect to the internet if needed.

Therefore, we designed the bedrooms to be small yet beautiful with the emphasis is on the community space. We have had guests from as small as one person, to honeymoon couples, to family reunions, corporate team building gatherings to weddings. As a result of being located actually inside the park, it was necessary to design and build a fairly sophisticated and comprehensive off the grid facility with tracking solar panels, automatic computerized generator back-up, well and water filtrations systems, satellite internet and TV, etc.. Our A-Frame is a labor of our love and was built as such. A getaway to relax, hike and enjoy. Our place is quiet, rustic, rural and completely off the grid in nature. It borders Zion National Park and is only 140 feet from the East Rim Trailhead. Stargazing is stellar! You’ll love our place because of the location, the views, the ambiance, and the true outdoors space and memories. We bring the outdoors in and the indoors outside. Our place is good for couples, solo adventurers, and friends.
The Space Upon arrival, you will park your car along the dirt road in one of the pull-offs and you will follow a wood chip and solar lit (at night) trail down a small ravine across a bridge with a seasonal stream and up another small ravine (about 150 feet in total) that is lined with beautiful Ponderosa Pines. On your left are the wildflower meadow and two lounge chairs for stargazing with no trees blocking the view. The view is 180 degree of stars at night. You can watch shooting stars and the International Space Station pass overhead when in view as well as explore the stars with the telescope. As you follow the trail and come to the top of the hill you will see the hammock to the left and the closed A-frame. Past the hammock is a bench and a small trail to an open area where there are Horseshoes and a small storage shed with Giant Jenga and cornhole boards/bags. There is an Adirondack loveseat adjacent to the A-frame. Proceed to the right and you will put in your code to the keyless door lock. From there you can open the A-frame and have an inside/outside room. Upon entering, you will notice that the natural sunlight is reflecting from the convertible wall and four other windows. Natural sunlight is everywhere. On the white storage cubes, you will find two binders: one is an A-frame manual with information about everything related to the A-frame, the bathroom, the BBQ area, and our property; the second binder has descriptions of different hikes you can take from the Stave Springs/East Rim Trailhead and other popular hikes as well as info on the surrounding area. Each one of the hikes has a map and a copy you can take with you in a sleeve within the book. There are games, coloring books, and cards located in a white cube and there is minimalist storage for your items as well as a luggage rack to keep the area clutter free for you. If you open up the A-frame wall or go out the front door and walk across the deck to the BBQ bar to look inside the Yukon ice chest there you will see see a block of ice, drinking water, and condiments in the wet cooler. The dry cooler on the opposite side of the bar contains some Smore’s fixings as well as candy/snacks in the basket for you. If you are Vegan or Vegetarian and do not eat marshmallows, let us know in advance and we will provide Vegan Marshmallows or leave a banana to roast. If you explore the lower cabinet of the BBQ Bar you will find plates, cups, utensils, cookware, and everything you may need to fix any meal. One of the greatest elements of this property is that it allows you to experience what off –grid living can be like with only minimal sacrifice. It has a solar system in place for the A-frame with an electrical outlet and a separate solar unit for the bathroom toilet. The natural light and convertible wall allows light to pour in and out and you can sleep with the wall open or shut. The water is from the local well and all water used is integrated to water the plants and trees. The special composting toilet allows for water conservation with no smell or mess common with a regular composting toilet. We spent 5 months designing and building this A-frame to make it a home away from home and a small piece of paradise away from our busy lives. Our goal was to make a place of peace, relaxation, and bliss where our memories could harvest new experiences. We wanted a place to be in nature as much as possible and where hiking was outside our door; and now we are sharing it with you. Now, stop and relax and breathe because this is what memories and vacations are about, not about the hustle and bustle of normal life. Sit in an Adirondack chair or patio chair that overlooks the ravine and wildflower meadow. If it tickles your fancy, relax and unwind in the hammock. Listen to the birds and wind rustle the trees. What you do on your vacation next is up to you. PLEASE READ ALL ITEMS BEFORE BOOKING! Read the entire section before making the reservation. So there are no surprises. You are in the Alpine wilderness and therefore you must have respect for it and be aware of a few items. *Ravine: You park on the graveled pullout along the dirt road or at the National Park parking and walk 150 feet or so down and back up a ravine. So if you have a lot of heavy items it will give you a workout. Trust me, we had to lug everything from wood beams to towels and it is tiring after a lot of trips. *Altitude/weather: you are at around 6,500 feet in elevation. If you have any heart problems and/or coming from sea level, you will notice a difference. The weather is also 9 to 13 degrees cooler than Zion National Park. Utah and Zion weather are unpredictable so bring warm and cool clothes. Layering is a must here if hiking. In the late summer/fall, there may be intermittent afternoon showers that last an hour or so. I love the afternoon showers because it gives me time to relax and enjoy the rainfall under the canopy of the converti...
Our nearest neighbors are 500 feet away through the woods. The East Rim Trailhead is 140 feet away from the property and the East Rim Trail is 10 miles in total length. Depending on which trail you take, these hikes can be mild to strenuous with durations of 1/2 hour to 6 hours plus. East Rim Trail links with Weeping Rock , Cable Mountain, Deertrap Mountain, Hidden Canyon and Observation Point. Elevation change down into the canyon is roughly 2,150 feet. The plateau we are on is over 6,500 feet vs 4,000 feet on the park floor, which means while Springdale is 98 F/36 C degrees, you are at 85 F/29 C degrees at the A-frame (9-13 degree difference). It can be cool in the evening and during the summer warm to hot usually during the daytime hours of 1200-1600. The upper areas of the park are part of large plateaus and are less shielded from breezes so wind-chill is something to take into consideration. Late summer/early fall (July to October) has afternoon showers that last an hour or so. Zion

Utah’s first national park, Zion offers hiking, camping, backpacking, climbing, and more, making it a popular summer vacation spot for families and adventurers. Situated in the southwestern corner of Utah near the Nevada and Arizona borders, Zion National Park is a convenient stop for those visiting Salt Lake City, Las Vegas or Grand Canyon National Park. Zion offers visitors a variety of activities across several geographic regions.

It started out as Mukuntuweap National Monument in 1909, but was granted national park status by the U.S. Congress in 1919. The highlight of Zion National Park is its expansive canyon. Averaging 2,000 feet deep, Zion Canyon offers hiking opportunities along its floor in the 20 to 30 foot wide area known as The Narrows and the more challenging area known as The Subway. Swimming is also permitted in this section of the Virgin River.

Other spectacular features of Zion include natural rock arches. Two of the most prominent are the Crawford and Kolob. Rising one thousand feet above the canyon floor, Crawford Arch can be seen from the patio of the park's Human History Museum. Kolob Arch is visible by those hiking within the area of the park's Kolob Canyon. Other stone arches at Zion include Double Pine, Jughandle, Chinle Trail, and Hidden Arch.

In Zion, the Virgin River cuts through the sandstone on her journey home, taking with her rocks and pebbles, widening and reshaping the canyons that define Zion. The intensity of the colors—the vivid ruby of the rocks, the clear sapphire of the sky, the emerald of the grass—make Zion National Park a treasure of the West.
