Amazing Cape Town in a day
You'll be exploring the best of Cape Town in a jam-packed day. Relax in privacy and comfort while I show you some of the best of what my city has to offer. Eat & explore like a local, with a local! We start off exploring the Western slope of Table Mountain National Park along the Atlantic Seaboard heading towards Cape of Good Hope. Passing through Hout Bay, Chapmans Peak and more. You'll have an opportunity to take in the breath taking views while hiking down to the Cape of Good Hope or ride the fernicular up to the Cape Point light house. We then depart to Boulders Beach for PENGUIN SPOTTING! You'll have the opportunity to visit the sanctuary and the beach while exploring at your leisure. After saying goodbye to the penguins, we make our way to our lunch venue at one of THE BEST locations in the Constantia wine district. The oldest wine producing region in the country where you'll enjoy great food, wine, views and conversation. This experience is more that just the landscape and natural beauty of Cape Town. I'll discuss the rich history of the city from personal life experience having grown up here. From the dark past, post apartheid legacies and challenges, to the endless potential for this beautiful city and country. **NB** Entry fees (Cape of Good Hope and Boulders Beach), lunch and the wine tasting will be for your own expense Other things to note PRIVATE tours & BIGGER groups can be accommodated. (DM for enquiries) Entry fees at point of interest (Cape of Good Hope, Boulders Beach) & food are for your own account. Pickup & drop off can be arranged if close by.
⭐ Lion's Head Sunrise/Sunset Hike
We will be hiking up Lions Head, Cape Town's most Instragram'able hike. We plan to either catch the sunset over the Atlantic Ocean or sunrise from the Hottentots Holland mountains. We enjoy some amazing photo opportunities before our descent. During a sunset hike, we descend in the dark using our flashlights (provided). During a sunrise hike, we may hike the first part in the dark using our flashlights (provided). This hike has been an age old tradition for locals especially during the full moon and on clear/windless nights/mornings where the lights of the city below dazzle and the moon and stars show off its beauty in the night sky. Other things to note Wear clothing you are comfortable hiking in. Ensure you wear descent pair of hiking/walking shoes. A fair level of fitness is required. You need to be comfortable with heights. Start times vary based on Sunset and Sunrise and it is critical that we start on time in order to witness Sunrise/Sunset

Hike Table Mountain with a Guide
We will hike to the summit of the iconic Table Mountain and experience why it's one of the New7Wonders of Nature. We will take our favorite more easily missed paths to the top. There are many routes that go up and together we will find one that suits your skill and confidence level. The trails all include a combination of hiking, varied levels scrambling and exposure to heights that will allow us to reach incredible viewpoints of Lion's Head, Twelve Apostles, Camps Bay, Back Table, and the Mother City. If you have a specific route in mind we can help you determine if it is suitable for you. The trails we do include India venster, Kasteelspoort, Skeleton gorge, and platteklip gorge but if possible and you are able we can do some more wild options. En route, we will take you into the world of the breathtaking Fynbos Floral Kingdom and the very first occupants of Southern Africa who named the mountain 'Hoerikwaggo' or Mountain in the sea. Once we reach the summit we will go to one of the awesome viewpoints to take some summit photos or just enjoy the view from the top. If the Cable Car Station is open then the hike will finish there, where you can then spend some more time at the top and soak in some more views or go and enjoy a well-deserved treat from the restaurant, my recommendations being their coffee, cold beer, appletiser, and milk tart. Other things to note Experience duration is dependent on the route and guests fitness and should take between 3-5 hours. The experience ends at cable car, if its closed then please add another 1-2 hours for the hike down.
Explore the Cape of Good Hope on foot
The Cape of Good Hope evokes immense drama as massive waves carve away at the base of 700 foot high cliffs. It’s a corner of the globe steeped in cultural & maritime history, but even more so it is famous for its raw natural beauty: both terrestrial as well as marine. Our journey will begin at my favourite bakery in Kalk Bay for a coffee & pastry before we drive to Simon's Town for encountering our precious, endangered African Penguins. By mid-morning we’ll arrive at the Cape of Good Hope section of the Table Mountain National Park where our trail shoes can be of use. We’ll hike a mix of rugged mountain trail & stretches of white sand beach. During our hike I will share my knowledge of our botanically rich & diverse Fynbos biome, looking out for wildlife, insects, birds & reptiles along the way too. We will do a 2.5-3 hour circular hike of an easy to moderate difficulty covering 6 km / 4 miles as well as a 2 km / 1.3 mile exploration of the Cape Point & Dias Beach area on a linear or out-and-back trail of a moderate nature. We end the day back in Kalk Bay where you can get a drink, grab an early dinner or just head home after ordering an Uber. Join me for a memorable day exploring the Cape of Good Hope on foot :) Private Bookings: - Please get in touch if you are 4+ people to confirm availability. - Direct pick up/drop off is possible. - Flexibility on itinerary.

African Food and Storytelling Tour
The experience includes about around 5 to 7 stops, where we visit, celebrate and get to listen to African (mainly) food entrepreneurs. We’ll listen to their stories about how they managed to create unique and meaningful community spaces despite harsh and challenging economic and social conditions in a rapidly gentrifying city with little affordable trading spaces available. This is your invitation to an off-the-beaten-path tour through downtown Cape Town to discover its hidden African food gems — a window, which allows you to explore our diverse Mother City from a unique perspective. This tour focuses on community kitchens and restaurants, which showcase the role of food in different African communities across the diaspora. What we'll do. In roughly 3 hours, we showcase how food has the power to hold communities together as we guide you through Cape Town's best hidden African kitchens and restaurants. Let us take you on a culinary journey all the way from South Africa up to Mali, sho't left to Ethiopia and the Horn of Africa, and share insights about the incredibly diverse and complex traditions of Somali food culture and the fragrant spices used in African countries that border the Red Sea. Share some fresh Injera, steaming soft pap, and floral cafe touba with us, while listening to stories about food and community from East-, West, and South Africa.

Yoga and Climbing in Rocklands
Breathe In Experienes hosts multiday yoga and climbing retreats in Rocklands, South Africa. Our certified mountain guides pick our climbing areas based on the needs and skills of our participants, giving us the space to learn, explore and play safely and confidently. There are enough boulders in Rocklands to climb for a lifetime and never get bored, so rest assured, there is a boulder out there just for you! Depending on the weather and the climbing abilities of the group we will decide on which sector to visit by group consensus in our discussion on Friday night. Some of our favorite spots are Roadside, Riverside, Plateau and Sassies - so we will likely head to one of those climbing sectors. There is a beautiful patch of rock overlooking a valley for morning yoga at camp, otherwise we do yoga around the boulders getting warmed up for and stretching out after climbing. If it rains we’ll probably do yoga in the rain, so bring a raincoat you can move in (and a sense of adventure!). Our yoga teachers who are climbers themselves facilitate yoga classes that are friendly to all levels of experience, even if it's your first time getting on a yoga mat. Our yoga practice allows opportunity to dive deep and explore out internal landscapes as well as connect to our super power - the breath! We find syngery between the practices of yoga and climbing whilst immersed in the mountains!
Revel in the Cape Peninsula and African Penguins
We get an early start to avoid the big tour buses as we head to one of only 2 places on the continent where you can experience the African Penguin. These friendly little guys have been kind enough to share their spectacular beach with us. We'll make our way through a secret passage among the boulders and vegetation to get close to these gentle and curious birds without being intrusive. Our next stop is the historic Cape Point National Park in search of Ostriches, Eland and the illusive Cape Mountain Zebra, you'll also have the chance to experience two must have moments: The visit to the Cape of Good Hope Corner and the Lighthouses of Cape Point. A tram trip to the top lighthouse costs 85 ZAR extra if you'd prefer not to walk. We then head to one of the world's most beautiful coastal roads; Chapmans Peak Drive where we'll prepare a craft gin tasting of our very own award winning Pesky Hobbit Gin born during the global hardships of 2020. Our final stop is at a destination synonymous with Capetonian foodie culture. The local fisherman of Hout Bay have long been regarded as the best in the business when it comes to delivering the tastiest Fish and Chips in SA. This is a real winner and a must do for lunch during your time here. Our last stretch after a memorable day is along the coastal road via Llandudno Beach and Camps Bay back to your accommodation or drop-off point.

Sail False Bay or learn how to sail or visit Seal Island
Come sail False Bay in Cape Town in a very safe steel yacht. As we generally have small groups, you the guests can suggest what you would like to do. We can anchor off a beach whilst you swim and snorkel or do basic sail training. Seal Island is a popular destination where you can see a large seal colony and if you're lucky perhaps a stealthy great white shark. I am a seasoned local skipper who can show you some of the natural wonders including, Seal Island and Cape Point. Feedback from our guests is that this is a true sailing experience, not a booze cruise or sun-downer type experience. We sail in almost any weather. If you want to experience strong wind sailing we can offer that with utmost safety. I am happy to also show you the ropes with some basic sailing tuition. My son Tor and I are accomplished watermen and can also assist with surfing, windsurfing, snorkeling. Please check availability by messaging me before booking.
Josef's Birding Saunter
We start the day off with a pleasant meet and greet, and also with the do's and don'ts of the walk. Afterwards we start our guided walk through a bit of residential area up towards the otherwise hidden start to the path through the nature reserve. The popular reserve is situated within the leafy suburb of Steilites in the far South-Eastern corner of the city. It centers on two enormous granite whalebacks and a forested stream and deciduous woodland below them. We enter though the upper entrance (the entrance is not signposted and can be tricky to find) of the Reserve and scramble to the area on top of the high granite outcrops, which affords wonderful views over the Shandon Valley to the South, and can be enjoyed with a cup of filter coffee and delicious home made rusks (biscuits). Next is the decent into the forest, where you will be met with a gentle stream and some great birding potential. Birding will be the main focus of the walk. Some of the top spots include the Narina Trogon, Eastern Nicator, Crowned Eagle, Gorgeous Bushshrike, Trumpeter Hornbill and Black-Bellied Starling to name a few. The bird count on the walk has been recorded at 60 plus. Please note: Booking a night stay with us at the ARTIST'S ATTIC will include a 1-hour morning or evening walk up with Josef. Other things to note The walk is moderately strenuous, 4.5 km in distance, and depending on the fitness of the guests and their pace, can take up to 2.5 hours.

Boulders Beach - African Penguins home
I will take you to Boulders Beach the most remarkable viewing point of the African Penguins. These African Penguins have colonies from Southern Namibia and all the way around the South African coast. I will will make your experience rewarding as this is the only place where you will be able to swim with the Penguins in close proximity. Penguins are living in the wild and therefore although you get to see them up close and personal there will be no direct contact as I am committed to protecting the welfare of these little guys. The Penguin numbers are fast declining because of over fishing and marine pollution and my goal is teach tourists about our Penguin population, as they are now classified as an endangered species. As this is a private tour, there is flexibility in photo opportunities along the way, and including stopping to take pictures with the seals. Other things to note Bring your camera to take lots of pictures.
