AIRBNB'S #1 "MOST WISHED-FOR LISTING WORLDWIDE!" *Remaining 2018 dates are available exclusively for folks that have the treehouse on their WISH LIST... Suite of three beautifully furnished rooms set among the trees. Just minutes from downtown, this secluded property is an urban retreat like no other. The treehouse provides an intimate, simple and restful retreat for 2 people. The treehouse is the subject of innumerable articles, blogs, Treehouse Masters and Today Show.
We are honored to have been named Airbnb's "#1 most wish-listed property in the world"!!! Thank you! The treehouse has a Southern nature - gracious, calming, and comfortable. Centrally located within the heart of intown Atlanta, the treehouses are a hidden gem. The subject of TV and magazine features including the Today Show, "Treehouse Masters: Ultimate Treehouse IV", Architectural Digest, Travel + Leisure, Harper's Bazaar, and numerous others, they are often described as being the most relaxing, romantic, dreamy and unique place you'll ever stay. What could be better than falling asleep in the trees and waking up to birds singing around you--all within the city limits? The treehouse consists of 3 separate areas - Mind, Body and Spirit - each connected by rope-bridges. Descriptions of the 3 rooms are below. Mind - The Sitting Room: Antique furnishings and artifacts including 80 year old windows of pressed butterfly wings, a plaster cast of a Siberian Tiger paw, fossils, a couch and chairs, its a great place to read or talk and has a balcony overlooking an acre of lush woods... Body - The Bedroom: Sleeps 2. What could be better than a great bed up in the trees? The super comfortable double bed is outfitted with the world's best bedding: Parachute. These cozy linens are made of 100% long-staple Egyptian cotton and pure Linen. They're Oeko-Tex certified, meaning no harmful chemicals or softening synthetics have been used. You'll have your best night's sleep ever here at the Treehouse! The bed is equipped with wheels so it can either be inside the room or rolled out onto a platform that overlooks the stream below. The mattress has a warmer for cool nights and the tin roof makes rain storms something to be enjoyed. Spirit - The Hammock Deck: Open to the elements and immersed in thick greenery, the deck surrounds the spirited "Old Man", a 165 year old Southern Short-Leaf Pine tree--the largest of the 7 trees that support the treehouse suite and watch over its guests. BATHROOM IS LOCATED IN THE BASEMENT/LOWER LEVEL OF OUR PRIVATE HOME. GUESTS WILL HAVE EXCLUSIVE ACCESS TO IT DURING THEIR STAY. The treehouses and main house share a lot and are within a 30 second walk to one another.
The neighborhood is a quiet, residential place. While our lot is located in a particularly peaceful, private and lush part of the area, it is important to remember that it is in the middle of intown Atlanta. And while very private, you can see other residential buildings from the treehouses.. While you may hear the occasional siren, normal neighborhood noise, the devil's hair dryer (leaf blower) or train whistle during your stay, the most common sound is that of silence broken only by birds, frogs and the wind in the trees.
  • If you love the outdoors and an adventure, then this place is for you! Peter was a wonderful host and the trees with the lights and view of the creek below was beautiful.

    Katie2016-09-04T00:00:00Z
  • Had a lovely stay! Peter is a gracious, funny host. Treehouses are quirky, arty and most certainly unique, as well as comfortable, relaxing, and soothing. Wine and snacks were a welcome surprise. Small bubbly creek that winds below is a lovely touch of nature. Do yourself a favor, and check it out for yourself.

    Judith2014-10-18T00:00:00Z
  • The treehouse was absolutely amazing! So romantic, magical and special! Peter was a great host!

    Meredith2014-10-29T00:00:00Z
  • The treehouse was everything we could have hoped for. Peter was an exceptional host. The bed which rolls out so you can sleep under the stars was awesome!!! And for being in the woods there was no mosquitos! I highly recommend this location.

  • This was probably one of the most unique experiences my wife and I have ever had. The treehouse itself was amazing, as well as the warm welcome and experience provided by Peter and Katie. From the personal tour that Peter gave us to the wine and snacks provided upon arrival, they really welcomed us to their little slice of tree paradise.

    Matthew2015-11-07T00:00:00Z
  • Magical. That is the only way to describe our stay at the Atlanta Tree House. It was private, quiet, relaxing, and peaceful. You could feel the stress of our daily lives melt away as soon as we stepped foot amongst the trees...

    Joe2016-05-25T00:00:00Z
  • Katie and Peter took very good care of my nephew and his wife after I surprised them with a night at the tree house as a wedding gift, the day after their wedding. I knew they had a wonderful time after they posted their stay on Instagram. Thank You Katie and Peter for sharing your little secret oasis with us.

  • My teenage daughter and I came to Atlanta for the night to visit my niece at Oglethorpe. What an amazing place! Katie and Peter responded quickly when we contacted them, provided excellent directions and information, ensured our comfort and provided a lovely breakfast before our departure. Needless to say it was a magical and impressive place to let cousins visit! We hope to be back again soon.

The Joshua Tree House is a two bed two bath 1949 hacienda located 10 minutes from the west entrance of Joshua Tree National Park in Joshua Tree, CA. This is a place for dreamers to reset, reflect, and create. Designed with a 'slow' pace in mind, our hope is that you enjoy every part of your stay; from making local coffee by drip in the morning, choosing the perfect record to put on as the sun sets, or by relaxing in the hot tub surrounded by over 100 Joshua Trees and a starry night sky.
Instagram: @thejoshuatreehouse (all photos tagged with #thejoshuatreehouse) This house is very close to downtown Joshua Tree with many shops and restaurants about a 10 minute walk from the house. This also means that some sound from the highway can be heard. If you're looking for a completely silent desert experience, we would recommend our other property: The Joshua Tree Casita (https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/10614974). Please also check that listing if you can't find the dates you're looking for. Welcome to the Joshua Tree House! This hacienda was built in (Phone number hidden by Airbnb) With over 100 Joshua Trees on the property, the views from the house are magical. If you're up for it, sunrise on the front porch is incredible. We estimate that some of the larger Joshua Trees on the property are as old as our country! *Mattresses and Bedding by Casper* There are two bedrooms and two bathrooms in the house, and works well for a group of friends, two couples, or small families. We can also set up an extra memory foam mattress in the hammock room (has privacy with pocket sliding doors) to accommodate groups of six.
Joshua Tree is a small community made up of musicians, artists, and explorers. In the village you will find locally owned and run restaurants, art galleries, music venues, and vintage shops. There are many wonderful places to visit during your stay at the house including the Joshua Tree National Park, Pappy & Harriet's, the Integratron, Salvation Mountain, the Salton Sea, Noah Purifoy Outdoor Museum, Crossroads, BKB Ceramics, and la Copine (a delicious new french restaurant in the desert).
  • Loved it so very much - amazing, beautiful, magic x

    Rebecca2016-07-26T00:00:00Z
  • A beautiful space with well thought out design elements. They did a great job making an otherwise old home more modern and hip. Overall a beautiful and spacious home. There are a LOT of windows throughout the house which makes great lighting, but makes sleeping in difficult since it gets very bright. The other room is also disconnected, so you have to walk across the cement floor outside to get inside the main home where the bathrooms are. The kitchen is also very small, cooking was a bit difficult since it was cramped and the kitchenware was dirty/old.

    Christine2018-09-23T00:00:00Z
  • Totally beautiful!!

    Erika2019-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • Truly lovely, relaxing and inspiring. It’s difficult to compete with the amazing setting, but we loved every minute of our time at this special house. Although relatively close to town and neighbors, felt like we were completely on our own. The interior was so thoughtful and stylish, without seeming in anyway like it was trying to be (if that makes sense). Very comfortable and homey with lovely touches like blankets, record player, games, TV that looks like a painting, etc. The fireplace was essential for cool nights, but the heating overall was more than adequate to stay warm. The setting was the true scene stealer though, magical to wonder around at beginning and end of day with coffee or wine, or sit in hot tub and watch the stars. And having the park so close nearby was all the inspiration we needed to explore. Feel lucky to have stayed @ this very special place!

  • Of course, our experience at The JT House was a dream. From the beautifully illustrated guidebook to the impeccably styled decor to the friendliest of hosts (who are now my friends whether they like it or not, RIGHT GUYS? RIGHT?)... We had been looking forward to this weekend for months and it did not disappoint! Though it's not as isolated as you'd think (highway is visible as are neighboring properties), the house felt private and cozy and served as a perfect home base for exploring the park and surprisingly delicious restaurants. Have I mentioned the comfiest beds yet? We slept better here than we had in months -- king-sized clouds and the perfect nap hammock! Highly recommended to everyone, and can't wait to come back!

    Lauren2016-04-12T00:00:00Z
  • The Joshua Tree House was amazing. It had fantastic energy, and was even better than the pictures, which is sometimes a rarity. Sara and Rich have painstakingly thought through every design detail, and created a space that is inviting and uncluttered, allowing its guests to have a very clean desert experience. I'm not sure how else to describe it. The property was also incredibly beautiful, and had a lot more trees and vegetation than most others we saw in the area. And as the setting for our elopement, it was absolutely perfect! We did not want to leave, and will definitely be returning. Thanks Sara and Rich!

    Nathaniel2016-03-26T00:00:00Z
  • This was by far one of our favorite AirBnB experiences. We went to Joshua Tree for a family getaway, and this home with it's charm and aesthetic, fit what we needed perfectly. I can't say enough good things about our stay. It was very close to Natural Sisters Cafe and Crossroads Cafe, and right down the street from the entrance to Joshua Tree. I would highly highly recommend staying here for anyone who wants a unique and great experience.

The Off-grid itHouse brings together raw industrial aesthetics with the tactics of green design to forge a new home in the sunbaked wilds of the California high desert.
The Off-grid itHouse is an architecturally significant house, recently noted by Dwell as one of the 'Best Homes in America' and in the Los Angeles Times as one of the best houses of all time in Southern California. The Off-grid itHouse is one of 10 IT Houses built in California, which have received much acclaim such as the Western Home award sponsored by Sunset magazine. Also noted as one of the top 10 airbnb rentals worldwide. This is the prototype for the pre-engineered system known as the IT House. The house is 100% off-grid, powered by solar panels for energy and hot water, and is located in a pristine remote valley in the beautiful California high desert. The house observes key green principals of smaller footprint, minimal disturbance to the natural beauty of the surrounding landscape, use of renewable resources, and living simply and minimally. The setting of the house is remote and serene, a quiet refuge from everything, free from distractions. Amazing views and vistas in all directions. Perfect for design or green aficionados, writers or those needing a secluded quiet getaway.
Located in Pioneertown, CA, nearby several unique attractions, Joshua Tree National Park, Pappy and Harriets Pioneertown Palace, local museums and art venues such as the Noah Purifoy Outdoor Desert Art Museum, the Integratron, and other seasonal events.
  • What a fantastic place! I think it is fantastic that Linda makes her place available through Airbnb -- it gives us a chance to really try on and experience great architecture and a beautiful setting.

    Jd2015-10-15T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay at the Off-grid itHouse was wonderful! The setting is stunning and the structure is quite impressive. The capacity of solar panels also impressed us as we had no need to compromise whatsoever. The house is located relatively close to Pioneertown, but certainly far enough from everything and everyone to maintain a piece and quite that every city dweller has forgotten existed. We thoroughly recommend the Off-grid itHouse if you are planning a trip to Joshua Tree. You simply can't go wrong.

  • Wonderful place, excellent hiking, loved it!

    Phyllis2019-01-08T00:00:00Z
  • Linda's home was textbook unique and relaxing. I stayed here for a quaint bachelor party and the listing description was accurate. The neighborhood is best for those looking to get away and seriously off the grid. The home was surprisingly equipped with plentiful kitchenware, flashlights if needed, and other items. I would and already have recommended Linda's home to friends who are looking to reset and unwind for a few days. Would LOVE to stay here again. Thanks Linda!

    Patrick2016-05-06T00:00:00Z
  • What a magical and breathtaking place! Stunning, spotless, serene. I feel privileged to have been able to stay in Linda's impeccably designed house. My stay was fantastic and I hope I can return again in the near future.

    Celeste2014-01-14T00:00:00Z
  • This house is perfection! The views are amazing (sunsets and sunrises are spectacular). The lay out of the house and decor are absolutely perfect, i would not change a thing. We definitely had enough power and hot water. There is cell phone reception on the hill just outside of the house. Its one of those rare places where you do want to come back. Thank you, Linda!

Charming and romantic,' Round' Cottage on the Santarella Estate in the Berkshires in Western Massachusetts. Formerly, the cottage was sculptor Henry Hudson Kitson's summer studio on the Santarella Estate. The two-story cottage has a charming bedroom with 35 foot high conical ceiling with canopied bed upstairs with views through massive, multi-paned "mill windows" to the trees and sky and out to the lily pond. The downstairs sitting room looks out on the babbling brook and lovely gardens.
Now open year-round! Charming, One Bedroom Cottage, former sculpting studio on the Santarella Estate in Tyringham, MA. Known as the "Silo Studio" Cottage. There is a bedroom with canopied queen bed upstairs and a sitting room with window bench-seat, coffee table, table and chairs, kitchenette area with wet bar with Micro/Fridge coffeemaker, toaster and bathroom with shower are downstairs. Fall asleep to sounds of the babbling brook and views to pond and forest from the large screened openings upstairs, like living in a "tree-house". Accommodates two only, fully furnished, all linens, towels included. There is Satellite DTV and Wireless Internet on site. The cottage is situated on four acres including lovely gardens, beautiful lily pond, running brooks and 2 acre woods. Absolutely unique, one-of-a-kind experience! Please Note, the cottage has traditionally been a three season rental from approximately March- November, however, due to much interest and demand, we have recently added a larger capacity pellet stove and made winterizing efforts and plan on keeping it open for guests interested in a winter experience in the cottage! Please keep in mind that access to our grounds may be limited with the accumulation of snow in winter months. During predicted extreme weather events, we will gladly work with guests to change reservations as we are always concerned for their comfort! Our lovely grounds are open to our guests. There are garden paths, babbling brook with stone bridges, loveliest of lily ponds, stone bench seating area with 'chiminea' and firewood for guest's use. There are two acres of woods with a loop trail as well. The town has an exceptionally beautiful Swimming Pond about 2 miles away which our guests may use. There are BBQs and picnic tables and it is often deserted. While we do have a pet friendly policy, prior approval and acceptance of our rules and policies is required before a pet may stay with you in our accommodations. There is also a $25.00 additional pet cleaning charge. The cottage is located on the Santarella Estate surrounded by gardens and storybook architecture. Santarella is located in the Tyringham Valley, tucked away 3.5 miles from Mass. I-90, a lovely and magical place where one feels like they have stepped back in time. This is definitely a place to 'get away from it all', enjoy quiet, rural surroundings close to the Appalachian Trail and Tyringham Cobble for hiking and many lovely ponds for swimming or kayaking. Vehicle is necessary. Grocery and other shopping at 3.5 miles.
Tyringham Valley was one of the original settlements in Western Massachusetts. It is mostly agricultural conserved land giving it a very rural, bucolic and idyllic character. The lovely 'Hop Brook' runs through the middle of the valley which is sparsely populated with mostly historic homes, making one feel like they have stepped back in time. An original, beautifully preserved Shaker settlement sits on top of the hillside opposite Santarella, overlooking it. At the far end of the valley, the gracious columns of the burned Ashintully mansion overlook the entire valley and are all that remain of the gilded-age estate which has beautiful preserved formal gardens, great to visit and hike. The Appalachian Trail is 2.25 miles from the cottage.
  • Denise and her husband were absolutely fantastic hosts! My girlfriend and I felt welcomed and taken care off since the moment I made the reservations. From the complimentary wine to fantastic recommendations of restaurants and museums, Denise was wonderful. The Silo Studio cottage was a very romantic getaway for Valentine's Day weekend, and my girlfriend and I enjoyed it thoroughly: would definitely come back again! A personal suggestion for future visitors to the Silo Cottage: if you stay there during the winter months and get cold easily, bring some extra warm clothing (long socks and thermals worked great), as the bedroom area stays colder than the downstairs area, where the wood pellet stove is. The temperature didn't affect our enjoyment of the weekend one bit as we came prepared! However, for people that get cold really easily, that's something to consider.

    nikita2016-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay at the silo studio was a wonderful experience. It's like taking a step into a storybook. The giant windows in the bedroom are absolutely amazing, you can actually stargaze from the bed on a clear night. The view onto the property is also beautiful and very peaceful. The property itself is very well maintained. Denise and Dennis were wonderful and caring hosts with great attention to detail. We hope to be back for a stay at the silo studio!

    Dennis2014-08-26T00:00:00Z
  • My husband and I stayed here for our four year wedding anniversary. The Silo Studio was absolutely stunning! As soon as we stepped foot on the property Denise greeted us with a very warm welcome and as she showed us the property/Silo I instantly felt like I was in a fairy tale. Not only was Denise very kind, she was extremely helpful when we asked about places to eat (listen to her recommendations if you want absolutely amazing food). I highly suggest staying in this amazing fairy tale land and meeting it's wonderful owner! Thank you for everything!

    Chelsea2015-08-08T00:00:00Z
  • The Silo Studio cottage is a perfect retreat location -- you will feel very close to nature here, and on the beautiful grounds. Lots to do in the area too. The hosts were very friendly, accommodating and helpful. I would return. Note there is no A/C, though it cools down a lot in the evenings.

    Amy2014-07-25T00:00:00Z
  • Denise was very nice and the cottage and grounds were beautiful. This was a great place for a weekend getaway.

    Jonathan2014-11-10T00:00:00Z
  • The Silo Cottage is absolutely breath-taking. Although it is in closer proximity than one would like to the neighboring homes, it is quiet and relaxing. The surrounding grounds are beautiful and unique, we took several walks around the woods/simply sat by the pond enjoying the fall colors. It is perfectly located in the heart of the Berkshires at just a 25 minute radius to countless historic towns, iconic trails, delicious restaurants and great shopping outlets! We could not be more happy with the place we chose to spend our honeymoon. To top it all off, Dennis and Denise were very kind and welcoming - they had set-up the cottage with snacks, wine and coffee (huge win for us!). Our favorite spots were the Tyringham Cobble Trail, downtown Lee, and downtown Great Barrington. - Lauren & Gabriel

    Gabriel2018-10-10T00:00:00Z
  • It is a really lovely cottage!!! A very wonderful experience and the hosts are very helpful. Would definitely go there again.

    Hanying2017-01-06T00:00:00Z
  • Property is beautiful and very clean! The Silo is very unique and intimate. If you're wanting to eat at unique restaurants, hosts leave a great list of places, or if you want to eat-in, just make sure to bring ways to cook. We used an electric grill and electric cooker that worked great. Small, intimate touches such as tissues, bed warming mattress pad, and coffee maker were all great additions that made stay much warmer and homey. Owners are very nice and very accommodating, check-in process easy and very unobtrusive. Nearby towns have lots to do for all activity types and interests!!

Red cinder leads you through the dense jungle to your secluded bamboo treehouse. Nestled on top of stilts 15' up in the canopy of the local flora, ascend to your retreat via the trapdoor or begin your adventure in Volcano National Park 10 miles away.
Upon arrival, let the red cinder path be your yellow brick road as you are lead through the jungle to your personal paradise. At ground level you will encounter a hanging bed, suspended beneath the floor of your new living quarters. Stop and relax or continue up the staircase to the trapdoor. It is through this trapdoor that you are allowed access to the lanai amongst the canopy of trees. A beautiful wrap around lanai allows for a 360 degree view of the lush jungle, while two sliding glass doors grant access to the bedroom. Upon entering, you will notice that the generous windows and doors allow for natural sunlight to flood into the house, complementing the bamboo fixtures and vintage 1970s wallpaper that backs the bed. The white bed linens reflect the light giving a dreamy, cloud-like aura to the space. There is counter stocked with a local coffee and snacks nestled into a corner of the house and overlooked by the handcrafted porthole windows. Bamboo backed cubby holes and hangers furnish the wall behind you and create an elegant, minimalist closet space for you to store your personal items for the duration of your stay. Just past the closet is a sliding door that accesses one of the most fun areas of the house: the bathroom. The bathroom jalousie windows stretch from the floor to the ceiling and the horizontal glass plates open up, creating an indoor-outdoor effect. Naturally caught rainwater cascades from the large shower head above before disappearing into the floor boards below. You'll notice that the natural theme spills over into the bathroom with sustainable cork board backing the shower and air plants intermittently growing throughout. The toilet and hand-made rock sink in the corner make use of grey water eco-principles by allowing you to wash your hands with fresh water before it goes on to fill the bowl. One of the most fun aspects of this property is that it allows you the opportunity to experience true off-grid living without sacrificing any of the comforts of normal life. Natural lighting, solar power and rain water catchment are the three principles that have been integrated into this tree top design, making it almost like a living organism itself. The beauty of this high flying haven is in the details. I spent the better part of three months personally constructing the building as well as the accessories inside. My goal was to create a customized and secluded space for your occasion. The chandelier, hanging lights, port-hole windows, rock sink and platform bed were all DIY projects that I specifically created to enhance your experience. The bamboo pillars that 'support' the lanai and the moss carpet under the hanging bed were harvested from local areas on the Big Island. IMPORTANT CONSIDERATIONS BEFORE MAKING A RESERVATION Don't worry, the capital letters are just to emphasize importance. I'm not mad at you. But please read this entire section before making a reservation. As lush and inviting as the Dreamy Tropical Treehouse is, there are inevitable 'challenges' that come with staying in an off-grid treehouse in the Hawaiian jungle. My goal is to give you an experience that combines adventure and luxury so I want to make sure that you are aware of the following things: 1. The treehouse is about 15-feet off the ground and is only accessible by the 'ladder-stairs'. 'Ladder-stairs' is just another way of saying 'very steep' stairs. There is a hand railing and none of my visitors have ever had a problem going up and down. There is a pulley system for hoisting up your bags. Only those who believe they are physically capable should book a stay. Just remember to go up and down the stairs facing them... like a ladder! 2. The running water comes from the rain falling on the roof and is not treated; therefore, the water is not potable. I will provide several bottles of drinking water. 3. The electricity you use is generated by sunlight and is stored in a battery. Once the battery runs out of power it has to recharge. This shouldn’t happen but just be mindful not to leave lights or power hungry items running for extended periods of time (No hairdryers). The windows allow for plenty of light during the day. 4. This is the rainy side of the Big Island so expect some showers! Realize that the pitter-patter on the roof is the rain's first stop on its journey to the water tanks and then to your shower. Also notice how warm it is. Don't think of rain as a trip ruiner but instead an asset to be enjoyed! 5. There are bugs but this isn't the Amazon. For such a tropical climate you will be surprised at how few bugs there are. The main things you will see are moths, fruit flies (due to fruit falling off of the trees) and mosquitoes. Bug repellent is provided but it never hurts to bring your own. They really don't get that bad but their presence increases after a hard rain and during the twilight hours. Luckily, the hanging bed has mosquito netting that drapes down to encompass it. 6. Noises. Living off-grid in the jungle also brings about its own set of noises. The water pump and solar inverter will make soft noises throughout the day as they are used. The falling fruit from the vivie trees can also be alarming if you don't know what it is, and at night you are going to be serenaded by the sweet chirping of coqui frogs. Rustling branches, grunts and squeals typically means that the cute family of wild pigs is nearby. They are harmless and will runoff as soon as they sense your presence. Quietly grab the binoculars and, if you are lucky, you may catch a glimpse of them! All of these aspects are what makes this place so unique and, with the right mindset, they’ll only enhance your overall experience. Guests have free range to fully utilize every aspect of the house. The hanging bed, wrap-around porch, indoor-outdoor shower and closet are at your full disposal. I have recently installed a kitchenette that has a sink, cooler for storing food/drinks, and a coffee maker (also capable of heating up water). Any and all goodies stocked in the house are there for your enjoyment. Here is a more comprehensive list of amenities and features that will be available to you: •Indoor/Outdoor Shower •Toilet with Overlaid Sink •Organic Shampoo/Conditioner •Towels •Ample Parking •Tiki Torch ‘Flashlights’ •Hanging Bed •Table and Chairs for Lanai •Binoculars •Several Books •Outlets (3-prong and USB) •Kitchen Sink •Coffee Maker •Clean Linens •Gramophone Music Player for iPhones •Cooler for Food/Drink •Card Game Guest interaction can be tailored to your needs. My goal is to make sure your stay is unforgettable so you can always contact me via phone or email. Because I do not live on the island year round, a local neighbor can assist you if you have any problems that need tending to. Upon your arrival I can arrange to have someone greet you and show you the property or simply stow away the key for your convenience. The choice, of course, is yours. Even though I am not on site, I can always be reached. Feel free to call/text/email me at any time during your stay should the unlikely event that a problem arises. I will immediately contact the proper authority to have the problem remedied. The treehouse is located at the end of a neighborhood street making it very private. It is set about 50 yards off the street behind a windy, jungle path further adding to your privacy. There are only about five full time neighbors scattered throughout the neighborhood so don't expect to see a lot of people. The treehouse is about 20 miles from Hilo, 23 miles from Pahoa, 12 miles from Keaau and 8 miles from Volcano. Volcano is the closest place for laundry, good restaurants and groceries, though you will pay a little more for the groceries than in Hilo or Keaau. I recommend you stop on your way in from Hilo. When you book I will include a guidebook that has the locations, hours and prices of local restaurants and grocery stores. There is quick access to highway 11 and it is 10 miles from Volcanoes National Park. Numerous opportunities for sightseeing and adventures are within a 40 minute drive of this treehouse paradise and they will be included in my guest guidebook as well. This is the ultimate spot for couples seeking romantic seclusion in the middle of a tropical jungle or individuals who want to escape the world. Unless you feel like hitchhiking, you will definitely need a rental car with high ground clearance to comfortably explore the surrounding areas and access the treehouse. While nothing is 'far' on the big island, everything is just a bit out of reach by foot... except of course for those lovely, yet dense, jungle strolls.
  • We had a great time in the treehouse! It's super romantic and original. Kristie has decorated it beautifully. It's cozy, and actually quite luxurious for a treehouse. It was clean, and communication with Kristie was smooth. It's a bit remote, but easy to reach. The gravel road to the treehouse had parts slightly flooded and I had some concerns with the sports car we had rented, but everything went well. I would recommend a Jeep for the future (actually for the entire island). We definitely highly recommend a stay in Kristies treehouse! It makes for some special memories!

  • The treehouse was one of the most magical places I’ve ever been. My husband and I enjoyed every moment we got to share up among the trees. Thank you for a magical start to our honeymoon! Be sure to get a four wheel drive car to get there. We loved hearing all the frogs as we went to sleep and waking up to the roosters! Kristie has thought of everything to make the treehouse one of the most amazing places you will ever go. We hope to return again!

  • Are you kidding me? This was the most enchanting and delicious airBNB experience we have ever had. The attention to detail, the amenities, the beautiful adventure we experienced was over-the-top amazing. We were literally in the jungle, off the grid, but fully pampered—with every whim fulfilled effortlessly by Kristie's attention to detail. We had the most wonderful experience possible. Thank you, Kristie, for creating such a magical experience for us. It was too scrumptious to describe. We highly recommend it to all who seek to create their own Adam and Eve experience.

    Merrill2015-04-02T00:00:00Z
  • That was the most beautiful house, I've ever seen :) we had a wonderful time in Kristies treehouse. Everything was really clean and you can see how much love she put in details (nice decoration, snacks, shampoo etc.) We got a lot of information regarding directions, activities and restaurants. Coming at night is a bit spooky, but that's the adventure :)

  • Adventurous place to stay; extremely unique and fun!

    Eric2015-07-29T00:00:00Z
  • Never been somewhere so magical. Worth any amount of money. Perfect in every way, just book now.

    Katrina2018-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • Kristie’s treehouse is an unparalleled experience that noone can anticipate and pictures cannot depict the real feeling of staying in this house. It gives you the unique opportunity to be in the jungle and sleep under the stars with the utmost safety. From the first moment Kristie and her partners made us feel welcomed and at ease. They communicated with us every time there was even a minor update and kept us updated of the island’s news. From the moment you see the house until you leave (so difficult to let go) you wish you are awake every moment to take in every memory you can of living in this amazing creation. I wish words could explain what we lived. Well done and hopefully we can make this long trip again and stay again!! Mahalo, Peri and Laura

*This cabin was featured in the New York Times in January, 2017. * A magical homesteader cabin embedded in 5 acres of unfenced Joshua Tree desert wilderness, 12 minutes from downtown Joshua Tree. Experience peace, quiet, wildlife and STARS—on the grid but off the pavement. Important to note before you book: NOT APPROPRIATE FOR CHILDREN 2-12 NO EXTRA GUESTS NO PARTIES (including dinner parties) NO DRONES NO COMMERCIAL/PROFESSIONAL SHOOTING (photo, video, film) NO GRILLING NO PETS Thank you!
If this cabin is booked on your dates, check out our nearby "Midcentury Prefab Homesteader Cabin." *** If you would like to use our cabin as a shooting location please get in touch to discuss our rates, otherwise we do not allow commercial or professional shooting of any kind (photo, video, film) during your stay. Thank you in advance! *** The restored cabin, which has been featured in the New York Times 'T' travel magazine, Wilder Quarterly, The Weekender and the book 'Jackrabbit Homestead,' was constructed in 1955 and still has its original green paint. The renovated interior has a cookware-outfitted kitchen and dining area. There is an outhouse with a dry toilet and roofless shower a few yards from the cabin. Wireless internet is available if you require a connection to the digital world. The cabin is equipped with air conditioning. Joshua Tree National Park is a 15 minute drive from the cabin. The Integratron and Giant Rock are also 15 minutes away. The cabin is less than two miles from artist Noah Purifoy's famous sculpture garden site. Two miles in the other direction is Dhamma Dena, a Vipassana Buddhist retreat center. The always swinging Pappy & Harriet's BBQ and music roadhouse in beautiful Pioneertown is a 30-minute drive. The Lou Harrison House, which hosts occasional devotional, folk and avant garde music events in an intimate setting is less than 10 minutes away. We will be happy to give you directions to each of these unique places (and many others) that we frequent ourselves. The cabin sits on 5 acres, and feels remote, but it's just 12 minutes from downtown Joshua Tree. You will travel a few miles on a secure, hard dirt road to get here. Enjoy the spectacular panoramic sunset and sunrise—as well as a blanket of stars. Sleep comfortably in a queen-sized bed. The cabin is located next to BLM land and a wildlife corridor, which means you will witness these wild animals in their native habitat. The cottontail rabbits, cactus wrens, lizards, desert tortoises, jackrabbits, coyotes, owls and roadrunners (and more!) that make the desert their home make a visit to this serene cabin all the more special.
  • Beautiful and secluded. This was a simple, peaceful place. The exterior of the cabin is rustic and preserved, while the interior is new, clean and comfortable. We were visited by a little cottontail rabbit, spotted jack rabbits in the desert, saw some stunning sunsets and starred at the stars.

    Amy2014-01-30T00:00:00Z
  • We had a hard time leaving Stephanie and Jay's cabin. It is just as it appears in the photos: rustic with amazing views, peace and solitude. The sunsets were amazing, front and side porches facing vast desert landscapes and spectacular stars at night. The kitchen is well equipped with basics for cooking, the bed is firm and comfy. We loved the outdoor shower and toilet, and the garden and composting efforts. Stephanie and Jay were professional, very responsive and communicative before and during our stay. We couldn't have been more pleased with our experience and hope to return.

    Emily2013-04-16T00:00:00Z
  • I would definitely recommend everybody who is looking for peace and quiet and stunning sun sets to stay at Jay's cabin. We had a great experience and the cabin was comfortable, felt very mucht like home and at the same time we felt like we were on an adventure. 3 city girls in the resert :-) One of the most beautiful places I have ever been, thank you Jay!

    Nicole2013-10-03T00:00:00Z
  • Stephanie and Jay's homesteader cabin is really amazing. Simple, convenient, beautiful. It's far enough off the beaten path to feel isolated, but you are really only 10-15 minutes from the park and everything else. Highly recommend!

    Tom2013-10-25T00:00:00Z
  • This place is magical. We loved every minute of staying here. Jay came and met us to check in right on time and gave us the lay of the land including directions for the outdoor shower, composting toilet, hammock, fire pit, space heater, and also where we could go walk in the chaparral. Stephanie and Jay are prompt and friendly with communication and the house is full of great energy and beautiful found object arrangements from the field. We spent a lot of time reading, looking at stars, sitting by the campfire, cooking, laying in the sun and taking walks. A February dream for someone escaping the grip of Chicago winter.

    Julia2015-02-26T00:00:00Z
  • This cabin is nothing short of magical. The location is very convenient to Joshua Tree National Park and everything the downtown has to offer! We look forward to returning to this incredibly serene place. Thank you Stephanie and Jay!

    Elise2018-10-22T00:00:00Z
  • We absolutely loved our stay here it was so peaceful and relaxing. Jay was a very helpful host and made sure we had everything we needed. I hope to come stay again in the future!

    Kelsey2011-09-26T00:00:00Z
  • The Homesteader Cabin is THE PLACE if you're looking for a stunning desert vista replete with distant dusky mountain ranges and a shimmering, unadulterated night sky. The cabin itself is tastefully decorated- windows on all sides bring in a lot of light and it makes for a simple, comfortable and tidy space when you're not laying in the hammock on the porch enjoying the view. All practical stuff (taps, fridge, wifi, etc) in good working order. Jay's a good host- just lives up the road, and was quick to respond to a few questions we had about local spots and to give directions when we were in a pinch. We appreciated that. If you're considering visiting this space, DO IT!

Be surrounded by nature and yet have all the comforts of home. Be our guest in this cozy log cabin surrounded by tall pines and mountains, and yet still a short drive to Lake Tahoe and the casinos.
Cozy cabin nestled in South Lake Tahoe perfect for the relaxing or adventure filled getaway. The Lake Tahoe Chalet is about six miles from Stateline and the Lake, or a short 10 minute drive. It's located in a quiet neighborhood with no one across the street, with views of mountains and tall trees. There's a large meadow and the Truckee River just a short walk away. The cabin is located in a quiet family neighborhood so PLEASE respect our neighbors' peace and quiet and keep the noise down after 10PM. Also, no parties or groups exceeding 8 are allowed and may even result in immediate eviction and/or loss of deposit.
  • We had a great time! We enjoyed the open kitchen and living room concept. The large table for the whole family to sit around was a big plus. Updated appliances and fully stoked kitchen were great. We had a hiccup with the cleaners, but Ryan was more than accommodating and quickly made up for it. We would definitely come back!

    Kiley2014-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • Home is cozy, photos really make the home appear bigger. Living room and dinning table are a little crowded. Home needed some spring cleaning and TLC.

    Yvonne2017-03-16T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin is as beautiful as it looks in the pictures, but I thought pictures make it seem a little bigger than it is – don't expect to fit more than eight people in the main room comfortably. We had no problems at all with our stay itself. The cabin was cleaned and in good condition when we got there. There's a ton of cast iron cookware to cover all of your sautéing and frying needs. You may have to purchase/bring some kitchen staples (e.g. aluminium foil and flour) but I don't necessarily expect to have Airbnbs stock that for their guests. We had no problems using the grill even in the cold. Check-in and check-out was a breeze. We didn't meet Ryan in the flesh, but he provided the entrance code and was very responsive even though he was away traveling. There're grocery stores and liquor shops fewer than ten minutes away by car. Heavenly is ten minutes away and Kirkwood is forty-five. T-Mobile reception was a bit spotty, but Verizon worked great. The WiFi also worked without a hitch.

    Jason2015-02-08T00:00:00Z
  • We had a very comfortable stay at Ryan & Darnie's cabin in Lake Tahoe! The kitchen was well-stocked for cooking and grilling and the bedrooms were comfortable. Great location in South Tahoe with easy access to all of the sights.

    Meng2015-09-21T00:00:00Z
  • It was great! Ryan and Darnie were great and very responsive. I will definitely stay here again!

Comfort, cleanliness and modernity coexist seamlessly, creating an environment unlike no other. The vistas on offer have to be experienced. Mere words will not suffice. The feeling of seclusion and safety, from entering the gate and parking in your private space, remains throughout your stay, such is the ideal isolation on offer. Dennis and Alex, your thoughtful and generous hosts, ensure excellent communication and guest satisfaction, achieved without impinging on your privacy or space. We were blessed to have found such a hideaway. This is Airbnb at its very best

  • This AirBnB place was absolutely amazing! We had the best time and ended our road trip round USA perfectly here. Everything was just great. The view was amazing, the pool house was really clean and private and Alex and Dennis was so helpful. We really enjoyed the possibility to just relax in such a vibrant city as L.A. Hands down - best AirBnB experience ever. We will recommend this to anybody going to L.A.

  • The house is clean and beautiful! We had a great stay here, the actual place is even nicer than in the pictures! If you like a quiet neighborhood, fresh air, nice mountain view and don't mind going up the hill, this is the place to stay. DnA are very friendly and accommodating, great people!

    Junting2016-01-07T00:00:00Z
  • DnA's place has scenic views, it is very clean and well-equipped. The stay was wonderful. Highly recommended!!!! Excellent space, awesome hosts.

  • This location was perfect! The view was amazing! Just what I needed for my spring break getaway. The host we're very polite and there to answer any question I had.

    TaLaya2016-03-19T00:00:00Z
  • We just traveled to Los Angeles and stayed in DnA's beautiful pool house!! We traveled to California for my birthday and this was the perfect place to stay! DnA made us feel very welcomed and provided us with some wine and chocolate! It was a great welcome. Their place was just as it was described and we had a wonderful time. It is centrally located to all the places we wanted to visit, with easy access to all highways and there is plenty around the area to shop, etc.

    Gabrielle2016-02-28T00:00:00Z
  • My husband and I stayed at Dennis and Alex’s pool house for 5 nights. There was a bottle of wine and chocolates waiting for us when we arrived. We were greeted, got a tour of the place and any questions were answered before we were left to do what we wish. The pool house is a cozy little place. The backyard with the string lights was by far our favorite area. Every day we were out exploring LA and it was wonderful coming back to a nice quiet house to wind down and relax. Unfortunately, because of our busy days out and about, we only used the pool and hot tub once. Hot tub is a good size and the pool is large and deep. We highly recommend anyone visiting the LA area to come stay at the pool house. Dennis and Alex were great, friendly hosts and responded to messages very quickly. They deserve more than 5 stars.

    Ka2017-10-22T00:00:00Z
  • It's not very often that an airbnb is even better than the photographs, but this place is! The pool house was beautifully kept, private, had amazing views, is very quiet and relaxing, and Dennis and Alex couldn't have been more friendly or helpful. Things were very clean and my husband and I enjoyed using the spa as well. Overall a great place and we would definitely stay here again!

  • Brenda was a fantastic host. Communication was easy and clear from the start. Her apartment is beautiful and centrally located so using public transport is simple. There are lots of great places to eat and shop nearby and Brenda provided recommendations, information, flyers and directions as required. Her apartment is a great base from which to explore San Francisco and a comfortable, clean and welcoming environment to come back to at the end of the day. Good conversation and two cute pets (a cat and a dog) help make this place feel like home from home.

  • Brenda's Place was an amazing Airbnb experience!! She was so accommodating and welcoming and her place is amazing, exactly where you want to stay in San Francisco! It is so close to both the F tram and the Muni stations, Market street is less than 2 blocks away and there is a Safeway, Walgreens, great Japanese and a fabulous bookstore all within a 5 minute walk. The cats are gorgeous and if you're a cat person, you will enjoy their company! I had a great time getting to know Brenda, I had been working non-stop for the previous 10 days before going to SF for a break and it was the perfect place to relax and chill out, can't wait to come back here again someday :)

  • I really enjoyed staying with Brenda, she is a wonderful host. She was friendly and extremely helpful, giving me great direction on how to get around and places to eat in San Francisco, a city that she obviously loves! I would recommend staying with her to anyone who wants a safe, clean, beautiful place in a wonderful neighborhood. Thanks for making my first visit to San Francisco so memorable, Brenda!

  • Brenda is a most gracious hostess. She went out of her way to make sure I was comfortable both in her home, which is lovely, and in her city, which as we all know is sublime. Many thanks, Brenda. I much look forward to staying with you again. Elizabeth H. from Miami

  • Honestly, I can really say I was NERVOUS at first. But when I first met Brenda and boo(my new bff) the transition from stranger out of the cab into house-guest was quite seamless. Her house is clean and you wouldn't even be able to tell she had 2 cats if you didn't see them or their litter box(which is also clean and strategically placed)! Brenda made me feel like we had always been friends and that I was just staying over for the weekend, perfect host and FULL of energy and life. Gave me maps and listings to explore the city, and made me feel comfortable enough to venture all about. I'm definitely coming back to San Francisco and staying at Brenda's because this was one of the nicest EXPERIENCES OF MY LIFE.

  • This was out second time staying at the pond (Website hidden by Airbnb) was wonderful, as it was last fall. We love the quiet during the daytime, and the crickets and frogs at night. Our second night a gigantic thunderstorm blew through...very exciting, and we were completely dry. Gayle and Peter are warm and welcoming as is Charlie the dog. Gayle shared some local blueberries which we scarfed up immediately. Ashfield is a lovely place...we had dinner and breakfasts at Elmer's and one dinner in Shelburne Falls at Hearty Eats. All great. THANK YOU.

  • This was the most magical place! It was exactly as it is depicted here, was very calm and relaxing, and Charlie was an amazing addition and great companion! Gayle and Peter are the kindest hosts I've had the pleasure of meeting, and I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a peaceful getaway. =)

  • We can not say enough wonderful things about the Pond House. It is so beautiful and magical. The bed was comfy and warm. Loved falling asleep to the sounds of nature. Gayle was very warm and welcoming. There are many cute places to eat nearby. We did not want to leave. It was exactly what we needed to escape from the busy city life. We are already hoping to visit again we enjoyed it so much.

    Sara2015-09-14T00:00:00Z
  • Pictures looked just like the real thing! Even more magical in person!

    Brittany2015-08-26T00:00:00Z
  • Gayle and Peter’s pondhouse was nothing short of amazing. We had to leave a night early due to an emergency but Gayle was so nice about accommodating us again in the future. You can tell that Gayle and Peter put so much effort into making the experience one that you’ll never forget. It’s the perfect way to get away and unplug. My husband and I will definitely be back! I will be recommending the pondhouse over and over again go friends and family!

    Gabrielle2018-05-13T00:00:00Z
  • Even though we arrived in the rain the pondhouse was still wonderful - bone dry, warm and romantic. Everything we possibly could need was on hand - nice toiletries, torches, lots of extra candles, etc. Over ate twice at Elmers. All in all a great stay.

    Philippa2015-07-29T00:00:00Z
  • I didn't want to leave and will definitely go back. Loved them and their space. It was perfect timing and the hiking was ridiculous. I loved every minute

    Becca2017-05-18T00:00:00Z
  • Bathed in the nature. Completely unplugged. Unforgettable.

Welcome aboard Pirate's Life! 1 of 6 houseboat & stay-aboard rentals we offer in Downtown Charleston. Featured on Tiny House Hunters, but far from tiny & dubbed “Charleston’s Best Airbnb Experience”. Pirate's Life was gutted & rebuilt using reclaimed materials, sweat, & love. You'll find her spacious, tranquil, & comfortable. Enjoy morning coffee with dolphins & evening cocktails on the deck overlooking Downtown Charleston’s harbor. Most questions can be answered in our FAQ found below.
Featured on FYI Network's Tiny House Hunters! Very spacious houseboat with vaulted 12' ceiling in the main cabin (living room). Sleeps 3 comfortably. Lots of room to move around with a queen size bed in the Captain's Quarters (Bedroom) and a twin bed in the living room that's a day bed. FAQ: Q: Location? A: Mid-Peninsula Downtown Charleston which is roughly 1.5 - 2 miles to the heart of the historic district. A five minute / $6 Uber away or take the bikes! The boats are located downtown in a private marina where our 5-6 boats are slipped & only shared with a large mega-yacht that rents the outside slippage 6 months out of the year. We rent this slippage from Seabreeze Dry Stack Marina (49 Immigration Street, (Phone number hidden by Airbnb) This accommodation is for people looking for peace and tranquility as the setting of the marina is quiet and secluded. You'll have a stunning view of Charleston Harbor and the Ravenel Bridge. Q: How can I see all of your boats for rent? A: Click on our Airbnb profile (the round photo) & scroll all the way to the bottom below the aggregated reviews (on Mobile) or look to the left (on Desktop). You’ll see all of our listings - or check them out by clicking the link below: Listing Page: https://www.airbnb.com/users/1918595/listings Q: 1 Night Reservations? A: You can instant book a 1 night rental if it’s the same day as your reservation OR if you see on our calendar that your date fills a 1 night gap. We kindly ask do not instant book for 1 night reservations if your desired date doesn’t fit that criteria - especially on the weekend. We handle 1 night reservations on a case-by-case basis depending on availability but can almost always make it work. We will respond to an inquiry within minutes most times, most of the time immediately. Q: Is it comfortable? A: VERY! Our boats are designed with live-aboard / stay-aboard in mind with all the creature comforts of home. Fully stocked kitchens, premium furnishings, updated HVAC, TV, Keurig coffee makers… etc. Q: Any restaurants close by? A: TONS! Some of Charleston’s best are within a mile of the marina. Q: How to book: A: If you don’t have any questions after reading over the FAQ below then simple instant book. If you send an inquiry we’ll respond promptly, if not immediately. Q: Why is the price so different for my dates? A: Airbnb automatically sets our prices based on demand & seasonality. If you don’t search with exact dates Airbnb shows the lowest price throughout the season. Prices range from $99 per night for weekday day-of bookings in January all the way to $499 per night for weekends during peak season summer and everywhere in-between. Q: Bathroom… explain! A: The boat is equipped with an apartment sized (12 gallon) water heater ensuring you get hot water throughout the boat. You'll always have enough hot water to enjoy a 10 - 15 minute shower. The boat has a full sized marine toilet that is easy to use as long as you follow our simple instructions. Q: Heat? Air Conditioning? A: Our boats are equipped with BOTH ample Heat & Air Conditioning. No matter the time of year you can be assured that you will be staying in a climate controlled & comfortable environment. Q: Can we take the boats out & drive them? A: No. We don’t carry any insurance for bareboat charters but we do offer captained Charters on specific boats which are really fun! Charters include sightseeing in Downtown harbor, sunset cruises, full hay & ½ day cruises, special moments like engagements, or anything else you can think of. All charter requests are handled via inquiry & paid through Airbnb as part of your stay. Q: Can I check-in earlier than 4 or Checkout later than 10? A: We will do our best. Most days there’s someone checking in the same day there’s a checkout but we try & go above and beyond if this is requested. Q: Can we fish from the dock or boats? A: Absolutely! We ask that you fish either from the side or front of the vessel & stay clear of the props so your line doesn’t get prop/shaft wrapped. Fishing from the dock is also allowed as long as you mind the props of the vessels. You can easily get a fishing license from the DNR online. We operate on the honor system & don’t check for licenses but ask that you support the local DNR & pay the small fee to make it legal. We don’t supply fishing equipment & keep in mind there are no tackle shops in Downtown Charleston. Shrimp from the local Q: What to expect that's different than a hotel? A: It's a boat, it is a unique FUN experience. There may be noises and smells that you'd expect from a boat. Pumps, motors, ocean water, etc. Every boat is broken the day it hits the water, especially salt water. We take great care of our fleet but we expect guests to tell us if anything isn’t working properly & we will PROMPTLY respond & repair. Q: Waves? A: The marina has a sea wall which dilutes any waves. We are also lucky enough to be tucked behind Drum Island at the base of the Ravenel Bridge. which dilutes almost all the waves from the harbor. There is still a small amount of wave action and you'll feel a slight rock from time-to-time, mostly from boats passing by who don’t respect the no wake zone (feel free to yell at them & shake your first while doing so). If there's a bad storm or the wave action gets to a point that your stay is no longer enjoyable, we will do our best (no guarantees) to work out alternative accommodations for you as we have multiple condos Downtown for landlubbers. Your comfort is our top priority. 99% of the time the marina is almost totally flat and calm. We also keep dramamine on the dock incase anyone experiences sea sickness. Q: Will you reduce your price? A: No(ISH)... Maybe, but unlikely. Don’t expect a price reduction unless it’s the slow season & you’re messaging about days within 1-4 days of check-in or you’re looking for a long-term stay in the off season (see next “Q”). If you message us with a booking that somewhat fits the criteria above & tell us a budget we can try & work with you on one of our 6 boats. “Will you reduce the price of a weekend booking a month away” will always be a “no”. Q: Do you do long-term or monthly rentals? A: We have done long term rentals in the past. From March 1 - October 30 the boats are rented at a 90% occupancy rate so the monthly rate is only slightly reduced compared to the daily rate (around 20%). From November through February we’re much more flexible depending on length of stay & which vessel you’re interested in. It helps us to know your budget and we can tell you if we have anything that could work. Q: Smoking? A: On the outside only & please be responsible. Kindly don’t light the boat on fire. Q: Do you allow pets? A: You bet! We ask that dogs not be puppies, don’t scratch at doors, and don’t bark incessantly while you’re away. The boats are close together & a non-stop barking dog isn’t appreciated. We DEEP clean the boats after pets stay aboard due to future guests’ possible allergies so a $75 pet fee is applied for those who travel with pets. If you have a service dog & try to circumvent the pet fee be prepared to present FULL documentation. Q: Can we hold events or parties? A: No. This is a place to relax. We ask that there be no events or parties on the boats so the other guests can enjoy their stay. Q: You charge extra for more than 2 adults, do my kids count? A: Any child over the age of 13 is considered an adult & needs to be represented in the booking inquiry as an additional guest. Q: Is the marina safe? A: VERY. We have 24/7 surveillance & in the 3 years we’ve been here we’ve never had any sort of issue. We share an entrance with the port authority which has a 24/7 guarded gate. You turn into the marina before the guarded gate but it scares off any would-be pests. The parking lot & dock is well lit & the marina is right off East Bay which is one of the main roads in Downtown Charleston. All boats lock from inside & you can padlock the door when you leave if you wish to lock up your belongings. The marina is only us & we’re here daily looking over the fleet. Q: Handicap accessible? A: No. You'll need to get on the boat which requires a 1-2' step and there are steps on the boat. The deck stairs are steep and you'll need to be sure footed. Q: Parking? A: Yes, you can park your car. Since it’s a small private marina the walk to the parking lot from the boat is only roughly (Phone number hidden by Airbnb) yards. Q: Can I trailer my small boat & side-tie it to the boat I rented? A: You can bring your boat but it must be arranged with the marina & there’s nowhere to park a trailer. There’s also nowhere close by to slip the boat so do your research on boat landings. The marina will charge you small fee (roughly $40 - $60 nightly) to wet-slip the boat. Q: Space & Comfort? A: You'll find the layout of the boat extremely spacious and comfortable. The bed is a Queen (ish) size. Queen with slight modifications to fit the space. The shower is tall and comfortable for anyone 6’4” & under. Q: I have a non-profit, will you donate a free stay to my gala? A: I’m sure your cause is worthy, but we get this request far too often so we must decline. Q: I’m a blogger / photographer / ninja trainer… will you barter? A: No. Please don’t ask. We don’t pay our slip rent with your blog posts. Q: Will you partner with my local company or buy my advertising? A: We get penalized through Airbnb if we don’t respond to all inquiries which means we must respond to your spam. You won’t like our message so don’t send it. Q: Will this be the best vacation I’ve ever had and should I book now? A: Without a doubt.
Extremely safe and private marina in downtown Charleston. The entrance to the marina is shared with the Port Authority which has a 24/7 guard. There is a train which blocks the road to the marina leading into the port authority but it only comes 1-2X per day. Sometimes it can block the roadway for up to 20 minutes but that is infrequent.
  • We enjoyed our stay on the boat. The view of the bridge is pretty. The boat is exactly as pictured however the wifi didn't work and the marina was a bit isolated. Overall, we appreciated the experience.

  • The Pirates Life is Me boat was everything i expected and more. The inside is amazing, the views are stunning, and the location is perfect. I brought my girlfriend to Charleston to propose to her and she loved the houseboat. It is so unique and such a great experience. It really added to our weekend to make it special. I highly recommend staying here if you are looking for a new experience or a romantic getaway.

  • My boyfriend and I had the most relaxing staycation on this house boat! I did not want to leave when Sunday rolled around. The house boat is spacious enough for two people, very tastefully decorated, and the bed was comfortable with a beautiful view of the bridge from the bedroom window. We enjoyed meals and drinks on the rooftop patio each day/night. Although there were plenty of restaurants close by, we decided to order delivery both nights because we were too comfortable on the boat! Be ready to dress warm if you are visiting in the winter. The houseboat has several space heaters, but you would be cold if you didn't dress warmly. The TV channels are very limited and there is no wifi, but we opted for watching the pretty views around us! I highly recommend Justin's house boat! We cannot wait to go back for a second visit.

  • This was my first experience with airBnb and it definitely set the standards high for my next trip! There's no better way to get the full experience of this beautiful port city than staying on a boat. The houseboat itself is impeccably done, clean, and comfortable. The expansive bedroom windows give an unhindered view of the sunrise over the water, where we also saw dolphins jumping everyday. Justin went out of his way to make this a great stay for us! This is definitely a must if you're coming to charleston. The hotel amenities and free trolley to downtown are definitely a great bonus!

  • Karen and Ron went out of their way to make us feel welcome while also giving us privacy and space for our honeymoon visit. They provided everything we could have needed and offered a breath-taking space. As other reviews mention, the cottage can get buggy at night so make sure to pack bug spray and take advantage of the mosquito netting in the bedroom. If you come prepared you'll have a wonderful time.

    Julie2015-06-17T00:00:00Z
  • The Bali cottage was a great experience. We stayed here for three nights after a few nights in downtown Kailua kona, so I was ready for something more relaxing, outdoorsy, and home like. Having our own fully outfitted kitchen was a joy and there is plenty of indoor or outdoor spots to sit and relax. I think the things I likes the most were the very comfy bed and the lush, cool landscaping. The kona side is hot at sea level during the day, but in the shady cool Bali garden it feels just right. The hosts were great too: welcoming and informative but not intrusive at all. They have snorkeling gear, in case you forget yours. The area is really nice too. For sunbathing or taking a dip manini beach is nice and kid friendly. For a bit more adventure I recommend renting a kayak and going to the captain crook monument. 30 minutes of paddling each way and very good water visibility and reef. We saw dolphins and a manta ray! For a more secluded beach take a 15 minute walk to Ke'ei beach (and go back in time 15+ years). We also ran to city of refuge (Hinayana) and back, 8+ miles, but get an early start for that, it's a HOT road. I guess the only thing to warn about is that if you want to take a 20 minute hot shower you'll probably drain the tank. But come on, you in Hawaii, just rinse the salt off and relax!

    Quinn2016-01-31T00:00:00Z
  • Hands down our best airbnb stay yet!! We loved our vacation in Karen and Ron's cottage! We fell asleep to the sound of the waves and woke up to birdsong every day. The rooms are lovely and the outdoor shower and lanterns set a perfect mood. Plus, it's like a home away from home--we had everything we could need and then some: boogie boards, snorkeling gear, local hiking and travel guides, a stereo and Hawaiian CD collection, sunscreen, bug spray, a little fiction library for light reading, beach chairs, coolers, and a full kitchen with pots, pans, and spices. The only downside was that it had to end. We'll definitely be back the next chance we get!!

    Alex2014-02-10T00:00:00Z
  • This is a magical place and we had a wonderful stay in Karen and Ron's open-air treehouse. We loved hearing the branches rustling and the waves crashing from the house. The location is just perfect (only a block from the water and snorkeling), and Karen and Ron were wonderful hosts.

    Samuel2015-01-09T00:00:00Z
  • My husband and I spent a week in this wonderful treehouse. We both felt that we had finally experienced the Hawaii we had been looking for. The open air concept made it possible to hear the waves crashing, the birds singing, and occasionally the donkey nearby. The kitchen, although small was definitely adequate. The outdoor shower was unique and fun. The teak furnishings beautiful and unusual. We discovered something new everyday. Can't beat the location with a small grassy park and a kayak rental about 1/2 block away. Some of the best snorkeling just a short drive. The description was spot on and Karen and Ron were excellent hosts providing information and a gift of champagne. With our encouragement we had periodic visits from their kitty.

    Cheryl2015-01-18T00:00:00Z
  • Karen was a great host, making sure to reach out to me ahead of time to make sure we had directions and if we had any questions about the trip. The cottage was unlike any other experience I've had before. As many of the other reviews have stated, it's not for those who don't want a uniquely-Hawaiian experience. The cottage is very much like glamping (glorified camping). We had geckos everywhere, a gigantic spider that hung out with us, and mongoose that tried to break into our bedroom and fought during the evening. The cottage is a minute walk away from a beautiful little beach where you can see dolphins jumping if you're lucky. If any of these things make you uncomfortable, this is not the place for you. If any of these things make you smile and love the beauty that is Hawaii, this is the place of your dreams. We got to enjoy an earthquake during our stay, which caused the roofing to move and we sprung a leak in the cottage, but Karen was quick to reach out the next morning to check in and see how they could help remedy the situation. She and her husband were great and were already working on the roof repair and adding some reinforcements for the mongoose as we were heading out. I recommend this place for anyone who wants a travel experience like no other. :)

    Sheena2015-07-01T00:00:00Z
  • We enjoyed Karen's place as an early Valentine's Day getaway. It was just our style - eclectic and unpredictable, while cozy and comfortable. Access to the cove was easy and the water was incredibly beautiful.

Romantic hideaway! This property has the lush beauty and privacy of Hana, without the drive! Only 15-20 minutes to the airport, 10 minutes to beaches, 2 minutes to restaurants and shops...on a private gated property with organic nursery. BEAUTIFUL!
This place is a gem! SO CUTE! A remodeled 1930's cottage....that Jimi Hendrix stayed in when he was on Maui in 1970 to film Rainbow Bridge. Beautiful, quiet...REAL Maui! Recently remodeled, very cute! It is lined with cedar on the inside so it smells delightful when you walk in.... The Gingerbread House is a studio cottage with a kitchenette (toaster oven, microwave, coffee maker, counter-top burners, full sized fridge) and spacious bathroom with a large custom-built, tiled shower.. It has high cathedral ceilings with a huge window that looks out on beautiful lush greenery. It is on a gated property. There is recently IMPROVED wireless Internet in the cottage, as well as wireless available to you in several other locations on the property. We have gotten the internet FIXED since the reviews were written so it is WORKING WELL IN THE GINGERBREAD HOUSE! As of 2018, we also added a Television with Netflix access and put in a larger hot water heater, so you should have ample hot water. It has a queen sized bed, and an outdoor patio under the spectacular tree canopy. The property is on 4.5 acres of lush beauty with a seasonal stream, an organic veggie start farm, fruit trees galore (help yourself when in season....) papaya, banana, lilikoi (passion fruit), coffee, plantains, oranges, mac nuts, avocado, lychee, mango, guava, grapefruit, tangerines, lemons, coconuts, noni....and you also have access to an additional 4 acres on the adjacent property—which is home of The Sacred Garden—beautiful!. WE HAVE NOT INCLUDED the 14.41% Hawaii Transient Accommodations Tax because you would have to pay the airbnb fee on that so to save you their fee WE WILL SEND YOU A SEPARATE INVOICE as a resolution request through Airbnb for the additional fee. (They do not add extra fees to the resolution requests.) PLEASE NOTE THAT IT IS STATE LAW THAT WE ADD THE TAX...Sorry! We have a 3 night minimum however we will book for 1-2 nights if the nights are available between other bookings so feel free to check with us. We have a 5 night minimum during Holiday periods like Christmas. We are in an awesome location just 20 minutes from the airport and Costco, and only 2 miles to Makawao town restaurants and shops, 7 minutes to Paia, 5 minutes to Haiku town. 50 Minutes to Haleakala National Park entrance. We also have a house on the property that is a vacation rental as well so if you need more space for a larger gathering let me know! I offer retreat services—relationship coaching, personal and spiritual growth, guided labyrinth walks and work with Maui's best practitioners so if you want more than a vacation, let me know! We can help you with everything from Massage, to intuitive readings! I also perform weddings so if you are thinking of getting married while you are on Maui....I can also help you with that! This rental is on the property adjacent to The Sacred Garden which has two walking labyrinths, water lily ponds, meditation gardens, and more ...and is free and open to the public daily. We have caterers and babysitters available if needed. The elevation is about 1000 feet which is PERFECT on Maui! We are about 10 degrees cooler than sea level which makes for absolutely comfortable days (70-80 degrees) and GREAT temps for sleeping (usually in the 60's). This is the MAXIMUM elevation you can stay and still go scuba diving on Maui. Speaking of diving...we are avid divers and can assist you booking Scuba Diving with the best dive operation on Maui. You will definitely want a rental car....there is a bus stop a mile or two away but not ideal....and bikes are a little hazardous as these are hilly, windy, narrow roads. We have a loving and enthusiastic Golden Retriever and a few cats on the property but no animals are inside the cottage. There are wild chickens and roosters and cows on the property across the stream. Please keep in mind that this is a jungle environment. We have the houses treated for pests quarterly so you should have minimal issues with insects, however, If you are phobic of insects, the jungle will not be your best bet. Gecko lizards are also common inside the houses here.
This area is a magical well kept secret on Maui. We are located at the dividing line between the wet side and the dry side, which means we get enough rain to stay green, and enough sun to stay sane! We get rainbows almost daily and are the perfect temperature (60's at night, 70's-80's in the day).
  • The Gingerbread House did not disappoint. Clean, simple and cozy. Located in a peaceful and quiet area, it was a joy to stay there away – from the hustle and bustle of the major resort areas. It was great to listen to rain at night on the roof of the cottage and to wake to the sounds of the local wildlife in the morning. Staying here added to the experience of visiting Maui. Recommended.

  • Nice and quiet, we love the up country.

    Greg2018-02-10T00:00:00Z
  • Staying at the Garden Gingerbread House was the best decision of our trip. This beautiful oasis in the center of the gulch is where to find tranquility and peace. Eve was a phenomenal host who met us upon arrival to explain the ins and outs of this spectacular property. The smell of cedar permeated throughout and it had every amenity we could ever need. As we walked the grounds, we were able to benefit from the sounds of water running through the creek, birds chirping, Bodhi on his latest adventure and explore The Sacred Garden next door. The labyrinth is a must! Mahalo to Eve for all of her recommendations. We found healing in a very special place and will never forget this glorious experience. Hope to be back again!

    Amanda2014-07-28T00:00:00Z
  • The Gingerbread House was the best place our wife and I have ever stayed, anywhere. Eve greeted us in the driveway to take us in the house and show us around. Moments later Steve popped in to introduce himself as well. The place was INCREDIBLE. A beautiful, upscale little cottage that looks like it was just built. It had a faint, refreshing smell of fresh cedar from the walls and was spotlessly clean. It was cozy and felt like we were staying in our own little home. Everything we needed was provided from extra towels, to bath products (in an awesome bathroom), to coffee and cookies to start our stay off deliciously. The grounds of the property were epic and because of a recent rain the stream was in full force. We watched it flow over coffee every morning and picked a few tangerines from their tree for breakfast. In the afternoon we sat stream side and read for hours in what might be the most peaceful setting we've ever encountered. We also wandered their adjacent property, The Sacred Garden to take in the labyrinth and nursery as well as the organic farm. It's a huge property that feels like you're secluded from the world yet it's only a few minutes drive to the quaint historic Makawao town with plenty of restaurants, or Paia, the coolest beach town on Maui with shops and some of the best dining on the island. It's also the beginning of the famed Road to Hana which is a must-drive while you're there. We only saw Eve a few times during our 5 day stay but she checked in regularly via text to make sure we were happy. She stopped by just before we left to say goodbye and give us hugs. As much as we loved the other places we stayed this is easily the best of the bunch. We plan to return again next year and hopefully make it an annual holiday trip to Maui. Highly recommend a stay here!

  • This was a wonderful experience! It was also our first time using Airbnb and visiting a Hawaiian Island and we would definitely do it all over again. Early in our planning we intentionally made the decision to avoid the big resorts and seek out something that felt a little more like the "real" Hawaii. Eve's rustic cabin provided just that. The cabin was clean and comfy, with a great amount of lighting and windows. One of my favorite parts of the cabin was the large window high above the kitchen that looks into the jungle across the stream. It almost looks like a framed painting every morning when you wakeup. The chirping birds in the jungle made it that much better. The property is close to Makawao and Pa'ia, both of which have great dinning and shopping and a great small town feel. We still visited the big resort towns for the beaches which weren't too far away. A baby beach protected by a reef is also just 10 min away! We found the cabin to be a great central location to see just about everything on the island. Tip: We bought the book "Maui Revealed" before we made this trip and used it religiously the entire time we were there. Kula Bistro is a must, Makawao fresh morning doughnuts in the white building with green trim and usually a line (it's quick I promise!) 808 Cafe has great food and is across the street from our favorite beaches. Drive to Hana takes all day if you go all the way around, but is so very worth it. Get out and see everything! Bring food! The Gingerbread Cottage is a perfect central location to everything on the island, but far enough from the hustle of the towns. Be sure to do the labyrinth walks on the property, it's a great way to prepare your mind to enjoy your vacation, also go sit by the river and read a bit, it's very relaxing. We will be back next year!!!

  • This was a beautiful, secluded, quiet, and lush cottage. It was well appointed as well. Eve was responsive and friendly. We didn't use the kitchen much but it would have been suitable to simple meal prep. The bathroom was well appointed though the shower seemed to run out of hot water at odd times.. Maybe it's hooked up to the same supplies as the other structures on the property or just has limited capacity. The wifi was dead, which was a letdown since the property has poor cell reception. In some regards that could be considered a good thing. Aside free on those minor grievances, the experience was wonderful. I hope to stay here again and would recommend to friends.

    Aaron2016-07-19T00:00:00Z
  • We enjoyed our time at the gingerbread house and in Maui. Steve connected with us and was helpful with additional information that we needed. Bodhi greeted us within minutes. The location was perfect for us to branch out and explore the island. We also enjoyed our visit to the sacred garden

Prepare to be charmed by the exposed brickwork and quirky decor of this lovely historic home that once sheltered horses in the late 1800s. It's been featured in Architectural Digest online as Colorado's most unique and beautiful Airbnb property.

Walking distance to local craft breweries and restaurants on Welton and Larimer. Street parking. Denver's oldest neighborhood is picture-perfect. It's nestled between Welton Street and hip RiNo, with its craft breweries and restaurants. It's about one mile to Denver's 16th Street Mall and one block from Curtis Park with its public outdoor pool.
  • Beautiful place. Exactly as described. Mick was very nice and accomodating. Highly recommended, we would definitely stay here again.

  • Mick and his 1880s remodeled house is really incredible. I love the heated floors, jacuzzi, and other amenities not to mention a secret cross fit studio that he allowed us to use. He was a really great host and his apartment is a great option for visiting Denver. The location is great too and only a 5 minute walk to great restaurants and shopping in LoDo

    Aaron2016-02-04T00:00:00Z
  • Mick was a great host, so friendly, helpful, and genuinely wanted us to have a great time at his place and Denver. The neighborhood great, walking distance to many new and exciting small businesses. It was easy to walk to these places, a little longer walk to downtown, but doable.

    Kristen2016-07-25T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely gorgeous space, well decorated and comfortable. There were snacks and drinks when we arrive. The location is fantastic, too. Walking to a ton of breweries and restaurants in the Five Points neighborhood.

  • The carriage house looks gorgeous in the photos, and it's even more beautiful in real life! My husband and I were blown away by the accommodations-- we arrived to fresh flowers, a bottle of wine, and a fridge stocked with a variety of drinks and snacks. Every little detail surpassed our already high expectations, and we had no problem making this place our home for two days. Mick was available at any time to answer questions. As with many (all?) of the people that have had the privilege of staying here, we didn't want to leave! I would recommend this house to anyone!

    Taylor2016-09-14T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely wonderful place. Very clean, fully stocked, abd beautiful. Great location and appreciated the bind of Denver info! Couldn't be happier with it!

    Graylin2015-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • My husband and I stayed at Mick and Patrick ' s carriage house and it greatly exceeded our expectations. The space was designed with extreme care and detailed with an artistic eye. It was so comfortable and cool, that we spent more time inside than we typically do on trips. Mick was quick to respond with any questions and the snacks waiting for us were very appreciated. We would definitely stay there again. The very best that AirB&B has to offer. If your staying in Denver, look no further this is the place!

This a rural desert location. The Tile House is a magical place. A vortex in the desert of love and space. This is the place to retreat and unwind, find yourself, breathe and explore. Not available or appropriate for parties or large gatherings. A spot to meditate, cook, and watch the sky, the clouds and stars at night. A healing, colorful environment for rejuvenating your spirit and soul.
A two bedroom house with outdoor hot tub and gorgeous views, and gated courtyard with firepit. Queen-sized beds, picture windows, cotton linens, and towels. Fabulous and reliable WiFi. iPod dock with speakers. Full Kitchen, refrigerator, coffee maker, mixing bowls, wood-burning stove, swamp cooler. Laundry facility on site. Fireplace and pellet stove. Dog-door for your pet to access a fenced and secure yard. Great for large get togethers or a romantic getaway. Sleeps 4 comfortably but also has a sofa sleeper for a kid. Cradled inside and outside by a mosaic made of Mexican tile, smalti, handmade Perry Hoffman ceramics, tile and fused glass, found desert tiles, found objects, stained glass and ceramic bric-brac, THERE you find yourself situated in complete silence, watching the desert light crawl across the fast and intricate landscape which is ALL around you. 7 miles from the town of 29 Palms and the east entrance to Joshua Tree National Park. 360 degree views amid the peace and quiet, beauty and wonder, where indoor and outdoor osmosis expands your exposure to the desert. Touches of luxury, whimsy, and function make the visitor feel safe but also adventurous. Perry has been working on his roadside attraction / museum / gallery / magic spot / mosaic house since it began in 2000. 11 years later, 800 sqft were added, and approximately 2500 sqft of mosaic applied and grouted. Glass fused baubles, hand made ceramics and a magical desert. This desert homestead turned beacon of love vision is waiting to reach the stars. The Tile House sits in the middle of the vast and open desert. You need not walk two feet to be a part of the wilderness, now it is up to you to look around both macro and micro and see what you can see here. Jack rabbits, cottontails, ravens, scorpions, desert iguana, snakes, Gambel's quail, lesser night hawks, owls, coyotes, roadrunners, sphinx moths, and kangaroo rats, flash floods, dust devils, lightning storms, sunsets, summer rains, empty roads, wildflowers, and cacti are some of the things you might happen to see. Walk gently in nature. At night, absorb the clear starry skids, and August and November meteor showers. Remember, there are rusty bits and broken tiles in the sand. This is a work in progress. Be careful and don't walk about barefoot. You have been warned. Not recommended for children, unless prior arrangements and agreements are made. You are ironically completely alone in the middle of nowhere and the center of the universe.
  • Such an Amazing and Magical place! Drove from LA with my best friend for the night and it was everything we expected and more! Such a magical place. You really feel so at peace and the calmness of nature. It truly allows you to reground yourself and then go back to your normal every day life re-energized and ready to go! Highly recommend this place. Perry was an amazing host as well! She’s so sweet and responsive. Thanks again!

    Kylie2018-08-29T00:00:00Z
  • There are no words to explain the desert silence, you just need to go and experience it. Perry provided a beautiful and comfortable, out of this world place, for us to do so. It was out firs Airbnb experience and it did not disappoint. Communication was great and the house had everything necessary for an awesome stay. Can’t wait to be back!

    Korana2018-09-08T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great stay at the tile house! It was so quiet and peaceful out in the desert! We had a fire pit and enjoyed sitting out watching the stars. The view of the stars is incredible from this location!

    Chris2016-09-05T00:00:00Z
  • Perry's tile house is incredible! There were interesting things to look at everywhere. It was clean, comfortable, and had a great view of the desert. There was also an amazing little platform for stargazing. Perry was also a responsible and accomodating host.

    Lucinda2015-11-25T00:00:00Z
  • Another magical experience at the Tile House.

    Conner2015-12-03T00:00:00Z
  • This place is amazing and it's huge. Such a fantastic experience. Thank you Perry!

    Megan2016-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • Tile House is incredible. The amount of effort and care that went into this place is just incredible. You keep noticing new things that you didn't notice before even days after being there. I also loved how subtle and non intrusive the notes in the house we're. I've stayed in lots of Airbnb's where there are lots of jarring notes, don't do this, do that, but this was gentle and very relaxing. One example was the note in the bathroom about it being on a septic; such a well dont way of communicating. It was also so convenient and easy to find, yet incredible solitude. It's really really just amazing the amount of beauty and care and originality that went into this place.

    Mark2016-05-02T00:00:00Z
  • This place is a feast for the eyes and the soul. We only stayed one night and it was not enough! The sunset and sunrise are not to be missed here. Absolutely magical!

  • This was such a wonderful experience, I stayed only one night in the yurt after 10 days on the road driving cross country and it was the perfect respite for a weary traveller before heading back to the big city. Whitt was the perfect host, came out to greet us when we rolled in late and showed us around the property, so we could enjoy a late night hot tub and dip in the pool....a wonderful welcome platter was such a nice surprise in the fridge and breakfast was awesome ! It was raining so we had to forego hiking for just enjoying the yurt itself, a really relaxing space to listen to the rainfall, read and nap in the loft while the fresh mountain breeze came in. I definitely plan to go back as soon as I can to spend more time !!! Loved it.

    Kate2013-08-14T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful stay! My boyfriend and I went out to Whitt's yurt for just a night getaway from DC. Exactly what we were looking for. Whitt and his family made us feel at home on their lovely property. The yurt is great - spacious yet cozy. Fireplace, hot tub & pool right outside. After a delicious huevos rancheros was brought right to our yurt - we were given a tour around the farm. Beautiful place! Had a wonderful stay - would highly recommend this special place! Will definitely be staying again.

    Deirdre2013-10-19T00:00:00Z
  • When we first arrived, it was a foggy spring evening. Whitt had lit up the yurt with twinkling lights. There was a tray of fresh cheeses from the farm, crackers and fruit awaiting us in the fridge. The yurt is beyond charming and perfectly equipped for a getaway. We took advantage of the pool and hot tub every day. Whitt's breakfasts were delicious. Don't sleep on his handmade pasta shells either. All in all, the yurt was a very magical escape.

    Beena2014-06-03T00:00:00Z
  • The yurt is amazing, the food was great, and Whitt and his family were very friendly.

    Jerry2014-04-14T00:00:00Z
  • Whitt and Martha have a beautiful home and made us feel very welcome. We enjoyed the food, the cozy yurt, and a lovely tour of the farm at the end. We couldn't have asked for a better weekend!

    Niamh2014-12-21T00:00:00Z
  • Whitt is an amazing and gracious host. Him and Martha are both wonderful and very responsive. He was kind and patient with helping my parents find the place and settling them in. The Yurt was beautiful and everything we hoped it would be. My family and I had a very relaxing weekend. Whitt's breakfast were delicious. The quiche was by far one of the best I've ever had. I would most definitely stay at Whitt's again! Thanks Whitt for being such a kind and helpful host!

    Victoria2014-10-19T00:00:00Z
  • The place is gorgeous! The Yurt was perfectly well kept and comfy. I love the deck around the yurt and we enjoyed sitting out on it as we enjoyed the wonderful nature around us. Whitt was also very helpful even though we were very late for our reservation due to unforeseen plans. We were definitely sad to leave after only a short while but will be back for sure.

    Sara2015-06-01T00:00:00Z
  • We had a fantastic time "Yurting It" at Cair Paravel. The tour our the barn with all the animals was great. Whitt and Martha were very friendly and accommodating of all our needs. The scenery on the farm is amazing; running on the Woods Trail and reading on the private pavilion overlooking the valley were highlights. If we are able to return without kids again, we may try the Airstream. The Yurt was very cozy and clean, with all the comforts of home.

  • This space was so beautiful and peaceful. A sweet location in proximity to Acadia National Park (you can see the highest peak from the cabin) and a quiet location for a secluded getaway. We visited in January and the cabin was perfectly warm and the bed very cozy. Alan was very accommodating. Although there is no kitchen (there is a microwave/toaster/kettle), Alan let us use his kitchen one night, which was really nice. Alan also provided us with maps of the area and had some good suggestions of where to visit during our stay.

    Erika2015-01-17T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our stay at Alan's cottage. He was a very welcoming host and made us feel right at home. It's a beautiful area, perfect for a weekend get away!

  • What an amazing place and great host! Peaceful location, bay and trails nearby. 10 minutes away from Bar Harbor. Cute cozy cabin with great views. Alan, the owner a talented musician and warm person provided a site tour of the premises. Ideal for couples and families to relax! Highly recommended

    Maria (Holly)2013-10-15T00:00:00Z
  • Alan welcomed us into his delightfully secluded cottage in which we stayed for 2 nights. We spent most of our stay out exploring Acadia National Park, and this property was the perfect place to stay - location, facilities, comfort - everything was brilliant!

    Hannah2015-07-02T00:00:00Z
  • I had another great stay at Alan's cottage. Its musical feng shui along with the fragrance of fresh pine inspired a creative and productive weekend. It's always a pleasure to be able to unwind for a bit while retaining access to modern comforts (including stable Wi-Fi, cable TV, and modern appliances). An added bonus: Step outside the back door on a clear night, and one can view the Milky Way across the sky!

    Maria2015-05-17T00:00:00Z
  • This past weekend my girlfriend and I had the pleasure of staying at Alan's cottage. It was everything we could have asked for. Unfortunately, we didn't get to see much of Alan's property because we were pressed with time for our own plans but from what we did see, it was very beautiful and gave you the sense of seclusion and privacy we were looking for. Alan was very kind and helpful. The cottage had everything you need for a comfortable weekend get away. Something to note is that the bed does not have a normal mattress but more like a futon pad. That's the only thing that one might not be expecting. I personally didn't mind it. We took trips to both Bangor and Bar Harbor/Acadia, both were in reasonable driving distance from the cottage. This was our first Airbnb experience and it was a huge success. I would definitely recommend this place to others! Thanks Alan and I hope to be back soon!

The owners really go out of their way to add those special touches to make your trip complete, such as leaving fresh eggs in the fridge (as long as the chickens keep up) and local organic coffee. They also strive to make this property as green as possible by using environmentally friendly dish soap and laundry detergent, providing recycled paper products and full recycling, using low-wattage light bulbs, and more. Pets must be declared to the owners in advance, preferably at the time of booking. We ask that if dogs are left unattended that they be crated and that they remain on leash when wandering the property if they might be inclined to chase a child, cat, or chicken or wander off. Thanks for understanding! Single night bookings: We have a two night minimum, but when there is a single night gap in the schedule we are happy to accept a single night booking for an additional $25. Just shoot us a message with your date and we'll go from there.
Wimberley is a lovely little town full of unique shops, swimming holes, and friendly folks. We think you'll love your visit here!
  • Loved our stay at the Dixie Daisy! Having a tough time deciding what my favorite part was; the outdoor shower? The hammock? Their carefully curated cassette tape collection? The worst part of our stay was when we had to leave... I haven't felt this well rested and mentally restored in a loooong time. Thanks, Jennifer and Gregory!

    Allyson2013-06-13T00:00:00Z
  • The trailer was exactly as it was presented on the listing page:) Very clean and loved the complimentary fresh eggs and coffee. Next time I will come when it is not so hot though. But it was very nice having an outdoor shower to jump in several times a day when it's 100+ degrees outside.

    Cynthia2014-08-20T00:00:00Z
  • This place is perfect for a couple's get away. Close enough to town for a quick trip to the store, but when you're sitting on the porch or walking the trails on the property you feel like you're a million miles away from civilization. The hot tub, outdoor shower, fire pit and grill make it easy to be outside enjoying the scenery. Loved having the fresh-from-the-coup eggs in the fridge as a nice surprise! We'll definitely be back together. And I'm also making plans for a solo stay to catch up on some reading and writing.

    Robin2017-05-09T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay at the DIxie Daisy was my boyfriend & I's favorite getaway to date - and we've been on a lot of them. I will probably repeat a lot of what has already been said, but this was the perfect "escape from it all" - just remote enough to feel at peace, but close enough to civilization that even after a night of watching the ID channel, we still slept safely & soundly, nightmare free :) Jennifer & Gregory have equipped this place with everything (& more) that I could have ever asked for, and my boyfriend & I will be back to visit very soon. Definitely make sure to use the outdoor shower after a dip in the hot tub - it was so great (& they even provide you with shampoo & conditioner!) - and if you can, take a little picnic up to the treehouse - you won't regret it! P.S. Chloe (our dog) also had the best time ever chasing the squirrels & exploring the property with us - definitely a dog friendly vacation spot!

  • As my first airbnb experience, this is a truly delightful hill country retreat. I chose this place as a birthday weekend getaway for my boyfriend, and we were so thrilled when we arrived. Between the farm-fresh chicken eggs and the ruta maya coffee, our mornings couldn't have started off brighter. From there things just got better as we explored the nearby creek, dipped into town for shopping and fine eats, visited swimming holes, then came back to relax in the hammock, cook some dinner on the grill, and lounge in the hot tub. No detail was overlooked, the hosts were responsive, and my boyfriend had one of the best, most relaxing birthdays he can remember. Perfection. We're already looking forward to finding an excuse to return!

  • On the one hand I want to shout from the rooftops and gift every person in the universe the miraculous secret that this place exists. On the other hand, I want to keep it all to myself so I can find a way to live here permanently. What a gorgeous happy place. Such a short drive from Austin and yet worlds apart. I feel like someone plugged in my battery and I can now run marathons. Every single thing was perfect. Thank you thank you thank you.

  • I surprised my husband with staying at the Dixie Daisy for our 2nd anniversary, and it was everything I hoped it would be! He absolutely loved the surprise. We couldn't get enough of the little details of the airstream-from the authentic decorations to the CD choices (I now love Patty Griffin more than ever!), to the farm fresh eggs and coffee...we LOVED our stay here!! There were so many opportunities to just relax and enjoy our time together. The property was beautiful, and the Wimberley shoppes were so fun to explore! Thanks so much for creating this quaint space. It was perfect in every way, and we had a wonderful anniversary getaway!!

    Chelsey2014-11-17T00:00:00Z
  • We had 5 fantastic days at the Dixie Daisy. It was such a treat exploring all around the area itself but the surrounding sights as well. I highly recommend staying here. Read the logs written by others as well- we saw and did SOOO much while staying in wimberley. We enjoyed every bit of it- campfires, bbqs, the hot tub, hammock & the outdoor shower. The fresh eggs & the delicious coffee we're very welcomed. The lack of snow & the warm temperatures, flowers & green grass were entirely due to us Maine-folk! Stay here . I promise you you'll be glad you did.

We are a real treehouse at the summit of Kilauea. We are less than five minutes from the main gates to Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. The park is open once again, and visitors are in awe of the changes wrought by the recent eruption. This is a wonderful time to plan a visit to a place not heavily touristed and central to adventures to be had on this part of the island. #weaccept
This is a custom designed treehouse, built by the same crew you see in Treehouse Masters on TV. The Jurassic attitude of the rainforest is preserved on the grounds. We also have a wedding venue nearby you may view in the photos. Hawai’i Volcanoes National Park borders the end of the street but can be accessed only through the main gate about two miles away. *** 2019 notes: There is no surface lava at this time. Our air quality is now some of the best anywhere. There are scant emissions from the volcano. Steam comes out of the ground, signs of the hot magma below. The steam is not VOG. There is currently no eruption. There are no signs an eruption is coming, or restarting. Volcanoes are unpredictable but they do give signs before going into action. Those signs typically are increased seismicity over a period of weeks and months, and sometimes years. No signs currently. The changes in the park due to the last eruption cannot be shown other than in imax format- they are that enormous. This is an excellent time to visit. Notes regarding cancellation and changes: please read the policy as published. Airbnb writes the policies and all of us must adhere to them. If you are feeling a need to cancel, you may wish to reconsider and change dates instead or discuss all options with us directly before deleting your reservation. Mahinui Na Lani hangs in ohia trees growing over a lava tube in the rainforest that extends into Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. The treehouse was conceived as a companion to our rainforest pavilion, a Bali style structure a couple of blocks away, intended as an intimate wedding venue. Both may be reserved, and there are a couple of photos of the pavilion included in this series. The treehouse is accessed via a path that is about 100 meandering feet in the forest, lava boulders set into the side of the lava tube, and ladders. The ascent is somewhat steep once you reach the lava rocks. For your safety and comfort, we provide day packs to transfer whatever clothing is needed for your stay from your luggage into the abode. There is a special recessed corner dedicated to your stuff, with hooks for clothes, and a couple of night stands with drawers that can hold less bulky items. It's Hawaii, and the climate is mild, the atmosphere everywhere very casual. We also provide bathrobes. The treehouse itself is built on two levels, connected via a ship's ladder. The main level includes the living room, with two chairs and an ottoman, flat screen for viewing films & playing CDs, built in indoor window table & stools, small kitchen, outdoor shower, and composting toilet & vanity. The indoor fireplace is a Jotul propane stove vented to the outside. Outdoors on the lanai there is a cedar hot tub, and a teak table and chairs for al fresco dining in the trees. The upper level is also upper canopy, with birds actually flying around beneath you sometimes. There is a queen sized bed with a memory foam mattress, the tiny "closet corner" and another lanai. The windows other than the french doors onto the lanai are stained glass, made by a local artist. There is no kitchen. There are plates and utensils so you can bring in take out and enjoy your meal either indoors or outdoors in solitude. There is a sink so your plates and utensils may be cleaned. You can make hot beverages. There is a French press and a tea pot. We encourage you to enjoy the nearby restaurants and recognize the treehouse experience is not a cooking experience. This is not by our choice but a change we are forced to make to comply with anti-vacation rental legislation on our island. The house was built primarily of recycled materials. The fir floors and redwood and cedar siding were once a church. This particular area is adjacent to Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, where Kilauea has been active for decades. There are hiking trails in and around the park through rainforest, desert, volcanic devastation, even a path with footprints preserved from an eruption over a hundred years ago. There are petroglyphs. Less than a mile from the treehouse there is Volcano Village, with restaurants and art galleries, a couple of places to buy gas. The entrance park itself is about two miles away. The neighborhood is rainforest, with many unbuilt upon lots. The reason there is no view of the treehouse through the forest is because the rainforest is very dense. There is the floor, very jungly with ginger, native ferns, and trees. Mid canopy are the tree ferns, some twenty feet tall, and over a hundred years old. The upper canopy is a mixture of ohia trees with red lehua flowers, Hawaiian holly, and others. We are asked from time to time if more than two people can stay in the treehouse. We can especially understand that families would like to bring their children to share this experience. The treehouse is a two person space. Everything is designed to be a honeymoon experience. While it is possible for more than two people to sit together and chat, only two can sleep over. There is no rollaway bed, nor is there room for one or for any other furniture beyond what is there already. Hall of Fame: The treehouse has been featured in Extreme Cribs, on episode 13. The Ellen Show: Kim Douglas's Tropical Vacation Ke Ola Magazine Volcano Tree House story in July - August 2011 edition Trip Advisor: One of the Ten Most Romantic Places to Stay (global selections) PureWow feature Treehouses of the World, Travel Channel European segment, by Treehouse Masters series Buzzfeed blogs and news articles published globally You will have access to the entire property, including the small structure below the treehouse near where you park your car. You may safely lock your luggage inside that room and use the day packs inside during your stay. If you use a CPAP machine, please contact us prior to making a reservation. There is only one treehouse on the property. We live nearby and come by regularly to maintain the treehouse. It is likely we will meet you on arrival. Otherwise, we are available by cell phone, text, email. When we are away, someone else who lives locally will be available to greet you and take care of your needs. The treehouse requires daily attention because it is off grid. This is generally done between 11 am and 4 pm, and most guests are away for that portion of the day. We do ask that if you are staying all day at the treehouse, that you communicate with us to let us know when one of us can come up and take care of the place. The neighborhood is mostly old growth rainforest with a few houses here and there. When you drive up, you will notice there are neighbors across the street and next door. You will forget about them once you walk through the moongate and enter the world of the treehouse. Sometimes of a late afternoon and evening you may hear a local hula halau practicing. We hope you find the sounds of laughter and Hawaiian language and music adds to the ambience. A rental car is a necessity. While there is public transportation, it is a long slow trip up the mountain. Uber and Lyft are available here, but the distances are such that renting a car tends to be more efficient. The park is a couple of miles down the road, and so large you will want to drive and not attempt to walk. Volcano Village is about a mile up the road. You might like to stroll up and back. If walking into the village for dinner, a flashlight for your return is an absolute must. We provide - please take it with you! If you are planning a first trip to our island, we suggest that you stay 2 or 3 nights at the treehouse. Please contact us for for discussion before you reserve if you wish. The island is truly big, and most people would rather spend the night on the west side of the island rather than return to Volcano after a day of play over there. Although we show rates for long term stays, we would like to discuss plans with you before completion of a stay of 5 days or longer. When you decide you want to stay at the treehouse, you are coming to a place unlike any other. There are other treehouses, but each is unique. This treehouse is off grid. This means it requires hands on service, every day. For most people, this is a seamless thing that happens while they are off adventuring. Every once in awhile, people come and do not want to leave, at all. We understand, but we do want to let you know that we must enter the treehouse on a daily basis to service the composting toilet. The hot tub also requires attention. The treehouse is in the forest. It is inside the trees, and this means easy critter access. To keep them outside, we carry your rubbish away and make sure your food is stored adequately. It is not a good idea to leave unwashed dishes for these same reasons. This is the tropics. There are insects. They are not as prolific here as at lower elevations, but they do exist, and will visit you especially at dusk with lights on. Spiders are residents of the forest. They are food for the birds. If you love the birds, please tolerate their food supply. We empty the house of spiders daily but we do not poison. The spiders come back at will. They are small, and stay in the corners. They leave evidence of their visit in the form of webs. We do our best to be inhospitable to them, but they persist. When there is weather, like hard rains and winds, from your perch in the trees you will experience the sound and feel in ways you may have not before. The house is tight - the weather does not enter if the doors and windows are closed. But the sounds can be formidable. You will feel close to nature.
The neighborhood is part undeveloped rainforest and part lots with houses. There are no tract homes - every house is individually designed and built. There are no street lights so at night it is very dark. The forest tends to obscure moonlight. There is a hula halau that practices nearby some afternoons, and you can hear their Hawaiian music and chants late in the day.
  • The treehouse was a great place to stay, and Mahinui was very welcoming. I loved the outdoor shower and upstairs sleeping loft. Nice neighborhood. Highly recommend!

  • Amazing place! Felt like a home away from home. Photos can't describe how awesome the treehouse is. Gail was very helpful and did a great job performing our wedding ceremony!

  • Everything about the treehouse was as expected. We loved every minute of our stay. We didn't fully understand how close it was to Hawaii Volcanoes National Park until we arrived. It was so convenient we could come back to relax and eat lunch or dinner before going back to the park. The kitchen items were more than adequate, especially for our needs. Our hosts were beyond helpful, answering all our questions in a timely manner. Given the chance we would definitely return.

  • It couldn't get more perfect than this little gem in the rain forest on the beautiful tropical island of Hawaii. The Big Island is quietly splendid in her array of beauty for the traveler. From the beaches on the Kona coast to the wetlands of the Eastern side of the island, this is the Hawaiian islands at their best. Nestled in the heart of the island, near to the active volcano of Kilauea, in the town of Volcano, is an unforgettable hideaway. High in the Ohia trees is a treehouse that takes you away to a land of your own imagining--a combination of Swiss Family Robinson, Shangri-La and Hobbiton. The host will meet you and walk you through the intricacies of this eco-friendly, off-the-grid beauty. Then go into town for an unbelievably delicious meal, come "home" to a hot tub and a night in the jungle. The decor is impeccable. Be prepared to commune peacefully with nature. For a truly unique experience, in a truly wonderful environment, this is the spot.

  • Wow, wow, and wow. This was the most amazing location and lived up to the hype. We loved it so much that we had Gail take our engagement pictures the day after I proposed on top of Mauna Kea. The treehouse is so cozy and unique. We loved the outdoor shower! Gail was more than accommodating. She had a bottle of champagne for us in the fridge with other breakfast goodies and very clutch recommendations. You are literally five minutes away from the volcano and in the middle of a rainforest! No regrets with this one. Best and most romantic experience of our life! Thanks for making our engagement special!!!

  • We felt very welcome. Our hosts met us promptly (we might have even been a little late), and showed us around. The treehouse is exceptional, the hot tub is excellent, and they gave us a few good dinner recommendations nearby.

  • It was our 34th wedding anniversary and we always like to come to the City (San Fran). I checked out AirBNB and found this lovely studio. The pictures they posted were the exact look of this beautiful studio in Bernal Heights. We absolutely loved our time. The place is walking distance to Martha and Bros coffee shop in the am and we walked to an Italian restaurant later that night. We would recommend this place to everyone. Mike and Nic are very gracious hosts. We were treated so well. They made sure we were comfortable and then left us alone.

    Laurie2012-08-22T00:00:00Z
  • In doing my research of the area, this neighborhood was rated high and the best view in the city (better than twin peaks) can be found at the park. The apartment is cozy and well located. We had all we needed. This vicinity is beautiful.

    Ariel2018-06-30T00:00:00Z
  • We visited San Francisco with our 8 year old daughter. Mike and Nic were very helpful and courteous, and the studio was well appointed. We slept in the bed, our daughter on the futon, and both were very comfortable. We used public transportation, and there were bus stops located nearby. There were snacks and beverages there for us when we arrived, and there are some grocery stores and some wonderful restaurants nearby, some that there were menus already provided for us so we could order in. We had a wonderful time, and we so appreciate having this wonderful little studio to come home to while we were there.

    Candace2012-06-02T00:00:00Z
  • Mike and Nic were great. Easy to communicate with and very nice. Their place was just as beautiful as the pictures. The neighborhood was cute and had many shops and dining options within walking distance. We really enjoyed our stay.

  • A great stay in a nice area

    Magnus2018-11-03T00:00:00Z
  • This place is simply wonderful. So much authentic style you’ll feel like ordering in just to hang out. Great location away from it all, with views, but nice area walking distance and down the hill to be into it.

    Jeff2018-12-19T00:00:00Z
  • I enjoyed my stay

    Jo2018-09-14T00:00:00Z
  • We had a nice stay at Mike and Nic Marrelli and Griffin's Studio. The facilities in the studio were good. Bernal Heights is also a nice, authentic, quiet, and safe neighbourhood. This was especially good for our family. Access to central SFO was not a problem using the two bus lines whose stops are just a few minutes away from the studio.

One bedroom sanctuary with a beautiful garden view and cozy fireplace. Comes with it's own entrance just steps from bus lines, train and all that Haight Street has to offer. Complete privacy with a separate bedroom, bathroom, and breakfast bar.
If you want to be within walking distance to Golden Gate Park, Haight St, Buena Vista Park, and Cole Valley, this is the spot. Full size bed in the bedroom with 400 thread count sheets and a pull-out twin in the living room. Just installed fireplace and large screen tv makes hanging out fun in the comfortable living room. Bathroom has a shower within the tub and white fluffy towels.
You will hear from many that this is the best neighborhood in SF. I chose this area for the many Victorian homes, the ease of mass transit, the walkability, and the abundance of parks, restaurants, and nightlife nearby. As a recent transplant to this area I can tell you that the stores, coffee shops, restaurants, and pubs are great here. I forget I have a car most of the time! Street parking is easy except for Wednesday 8-10 due to street cleaning.
  • Sara is a wonderful Host. She is friendly, accommodating and available and yet totally respected my privacy during my entire stay. The place is exactly as listed; private, quiet, clean, well-lit and charming. I did not need a kitchen so the kitchenette was perfect for my needs, and the bed is super comfortable. Best of all, however, is the location which can't be beat! The famous Haight is right there with access to all kinds of shops, restaurants and public transport, so you don't really need a car. Parking, like anywhere else in SF is a bit of a challenge, but here at least it's free. I will definitely stay here again and cannot recommend it highly enough.

  • Sara's place is cosy, comfortable & very quiet.. She was very helpful giving me informations when I had an issue with my rental car. Haight St which is close by is very lively & full of surprises. Try the Magnolia's burger & beers!!

    Raphael2015-08-01T00:00:00Z
  • We had a awesome stay at Sara's Garden Retreat! She was so hospitable and friendly and left us with espresso, milk and a couple of beers. The house was clean and perfectly located to all the Haight has to offer. We hope to return in the near future...

    Meredith, Wallace & Ashby2014-08-08T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay at Sara's place was just perfect. She gave us a warm welcome and a bottle of chilled wine when we arrived. We found everything as shown in the pictures, even more cosy. The small bench in the garden was an ideal spot to enjoy the morning coffee ( which was given to us as Delicious nespresso capsules from our generous host). The apartment is just around the corner from Haight and its vivid neighborhood, so we really enjoyed coming home to our nice, safe and clean retreat.

    Heike2014-06-21T00:00:00Z
  • A really great and pretty apartment, very close to town, within a walking distance from the center. Very clean, comfortable beds and Sara as a host was very helpful. Could recommend to anyone.

    Ulla2017-06-11T00:00:00Z
  • Such a great place to stay. Sara was very welcoming and went out if her way to make our stay comfortable. The location was superb and Bo the dog was the icing on the cake. So much easier to park then we feared too.

  • I had a wonderful time in San Francisco and in Sara's apartment. Sara was a wonderful host. She welcomed me on arrival and on departure she even took me down to the car rental. Sara's place is very well located - Bus to Downtown, Castro in walking distance. The place is exactly as on the image, very nice and clean and as a single traveler I have always felt safe. I recommend Sara’s place highly.

    Nathalie2014-11-26T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great stay at Sara's beautiful place! First of all she was lovely, very nice when we met. So was her dog! We immediately felt at home. We stayed for 3 nights and in turned out to be a perfect base to explore the city. Public transport close by and lots of great places to eat at walking distance, just a couple of blocks away. The surrounding area is great + felt very safe. The place was beautifully decorated and the bed was great. We would definitely recommend Sara's place to anyone traveling to San Francisco!

  • David was very communicative and welcoming, both on email and in person, and very accommodating of our wishes. The setting of their home is just as dramatic and unique as it looks in the photos, unlike any hotel experience you could have. We literally said "wow" as we drove in. We stayed in both units over the course of our stay, so we got to know the building well. I believe they just purchased it in the last six months, and have renovations planned. It's been pretty untouched since when it was built in the 70s, I think, so it has a bit of a funky beat-up vibe in places. (I wasn't totally expecting that given the scenery and the modern furniture in the photos. Gardens are overgrown, in an elegant way, certain features of the space are inconvenient in an almost self-designed manner, etc. The bathrooms felt modernized, though.) All this to say that the place feels like it hasn't been invested in or updated in a while but David and Ling strike me as fastidious new owners who will only make it better. We had never stayed in Malibu before and didn't realize quite how remote this would feel -- something for first time visitors to LA to consider. The roads are quite narrow and windy so we didn't feel super comfortable strolling our infant around and it would have been hard to make it work without a rental car though previous renters seem to have used Uber. Bear in mind that your cell service may be spotty; in the downstairs unit there was no landline, but there is wifi in both units that works pretty well.

    Juliet2015-05-20T00:00:00Z
  • "Incredible" is the best word I can think of to describe both the location and the views from this house. You choose to stay here because you want a unique experience: You want to drive up those long, winding canyon roads that are so much different from what you drive on everyday; you want to know what it feels like to live in a home with a one-of-a-kind view that has you waking up in a cloud. It's true that the Hideaway has some functional issues, such as the curtain for a bathroom door and a wall that doesn't go all the way up. My husband and I stayed here with our teenage daughter. The futon my daughter slept on could have been more comfortable, that is also true. You are going to have to wash a dish or two (no dishwasher). Although we cooked a few meals here, it is not a gourmet chef's dream kitchen (thankfully we are not gourmet chefs; Malibu has plenty of those to choose from). Yes, you can hear people moving around upstairs, like you would with any multilevel apartment. But for us anyway, all of that was pretty minor compared to the experience of coming to Malibu and staying in a special space. We hiked in Tuna Canyon, we explored almost all of the sites that David and Ling recommended in their local guide, we drove to Santa Barbara, hung out in LA/Santa Monica, and we did paragliding off of a nearby canyon side (highly recommend!). These are memories we will not soon forget...the other minor stuff, we will.

  • Amazing location, view, cozy setup. Can't get any better if you are looking for a place to spend time with your loved ones. Did I mention the view is breathtaking?

    Thinh2019-01-16T00:00:00Z
  • David and Ling greeted us upon arrival and made us feel extremely welcome. The space is incredible. We instantly felt at home. There was no talk about "going back to the room", it was always "when we get back home." Yes, there is a drive up the canyon that will feel intimidating the first time you do it. Don't worry about this though, you get used to it very quickly (I've since come to miss this drive). The neighborhood is extremely quiet and extremely dark. The view of the stars was outstanding. The place is listed perfectly and described accurately. There was a slight bit of noise that bled down from our upstairs neighbors but it was not an issue at all. If you're a light sleeper just turn on the fan and that will be enough to silence normal levels of upstairs noise. I can't rate David and Ling's place high enough. This is a truly outstanding property that we feel extremely lucky to have been able to share for a short period of time. If you have any doubts at all about the experience, don't. The house is perfect. The owners are perfect. The location is perfect.

  • What an amazing view… I run out the words to describe how spectacular this place is ! it’s one of the most stunning places I have ever been. If you are looking for a place to unplug and forget the world, then stop searching and book this cottage. Ling and David were very helpful, thank you guys for sharing your house. Great experience, Definitely will go back again.

    Omar2017-07-23T00:00:00Z
  • This was our second time staying at Ling and David's beautiful home. The views from the apartment are stunning, and accurately depicted in the photos; however, you have to be there to fully experience the beauty of this magical home. While we were there, the air was continually filled with heavenly fragrances from the tangerine, orange, and lemon trees. The apartment was clean and well appointed with all the necessities to cook and feel at home. The bed and furnishes were comfortable. The apartment is usually hot during the day, so we made sure to open the windows in the morning as well as the front door to allow the gentle breeze from the Pacific and the canyon, along with the fragrance from the beautiful gardens fill the apartment. The apartment is located close to the beaches, hiking trails, and restaurants. It is a lovely place to escape from the Midwest Winters. Ling and David were perfect hosts! Any questions or concerns we had were answered immediately. They also have a very helpful guide of things to do in Malibu. As before, it was hard to leave this beautiful home. We are looking forward to returning again.

  • Great view! interior gets 4 out of 5. With the global warming, this place definitely needs AC . Other than a couple of sleepless nights due to heat and humidity it was a good experience. Thank you!

  • The listing is extremely accurate and it’s truly a beautiful home. Incredible views, all the greenery and flowers on the property were great and the view is unmatched. The patio space is also very private.

The Urban Farmhouse circa 1886 - meticulously converted in 2013. Situated adjacent to community garden. The updates afford you all the modern convenience you could ask for and charm you can only get from a building built in 1886. A true Charmer.
Privately tucked next door to a community garden in Denver's oldest neighborhood. 1/2 block to light-rail and near to B-Cycle (public bikes). Walking distance to local craft breweries and restaurants on Welton and Larimer. Street parking. 2 Bedrooms/2 Bathrooms perfectly sleeps two couples (additional charge for additional guests). We have a pack-n-play and baby gates available upon request. It is my home, but i will lock my personal items away and with the exception of a small portion of the closet the whole place is yours during your stay.
Denver's oldest neighborhood, Curtis Park nestled between gritty RINO with craft breweries, restaurants and Welton Street - all in walking distance (minimum 3 blocks away). About one mile to Denver's 16th Street Mall. One block from Curtis Park with public outdoor pool open Jun-Aug
  • Awesome place. Super clean, hip, modern. Situated near downtown. Lots of cool bars, breweries, eateries nearby. Keyless entry system was amazing. The shower was both relaxing and invigorating. Overall, just a great stay.

  • Loved this place. Very spacious.

  • The Urban Farmhouse is absolutely gorgeous! It’s in a perfect location, close to downtown but quiet and cozy at night.

  • We had an excellent trip! The house is perfect and had everything we needed for a fun long weekend. There are so many great restaurants nearby and we had so much fun exploring the city. We hope to be back in the future!

    Greta2017-12-04T00:00:00Z
  • Great renovations and clean, lovely home. The only thing we had an issue with was the location, which wasn't in a very safe, quiet part of town. Overall, was a good stay since we weren't home often anyway.

    Joe2017-03-10T00:00:00Z
  • Loved this place! Patrick was so accommodating and takes excellent care of the house. Felt very rustic and quaint, yet had every amenity available that you’d need for a short or long stay. Highly recommended!

    Justin2018-07-19T00:00:00Z
  • My husband and I wanted to have a short and sweet honeymoon in Denver. Patrick’s place was perfect for us! The house was spacious, clean, cozy, and in a perfect location. The decor gives you an amazing feel for Denver, and feels like a home away from home. Would definitely stay here again!

    Aylin2017-12-16T00:00:00Z
  • This was one of the BEST Airbnb stays!! The house is amazing and fully set up for anyone working away from home or visiting Denver. I was very impressed with everything and Patrick was an amazing host. Both him and his partner were super helpful with suggestions and checking in with me, not to mention all of the lovely treats they left for me when I checked in (thanks boys)!! They even allowed me to check in early. The house and the hosts made my first visit to Denver incredible and I will be staying there again when I come back. I would recommend this place to any and everyone!! AH-MAZ-ING!!!

A cozy & clean renovated cottage in South Inglewood with private entrance. One bedroom, one bathroom cottage w/ a nice patio and backyard. Plenty of street parking. We'd love to help make your Nashville trip perfect!
Our cottage, which was renovated last year, is spacious (384 sq ft) with plenty of privacy. Included is a big patio and large backyard. Inside the cottage you'll find a full size bed, couch, dining table with chairs, shower/bathtub, and washer & dryer. Soap, shampoo, detergent, hair dryer, noise machine and filtered water are all provided.
Located in South Inglewood, we are very close to all the great East Nashville spots and only 4 miles to downtown. Our street is an upcoming residential area that is improving everyday. We are walking distance from a great YMCA and our neighborhood Mexican restaurant called Las Maracas. There's no shortage of good food, bars, shops and nightlife just minutes away. Most importantly, in the four years we've lived here, we've always felt safe.
  • I'm so happy we found this place on Airbnb because it has been by far our best experience yet. Fantastic little place and even better hosts. The place is clean, cozy and has everything you could need, including a turn table which was great because we had done a lot of vinyl shopping. I was concerned from past reviews about the train noise, but honestly after about two times we didn't even notice it. The hosts were so helpful and friendly. Checking up on us to make sure that we were enjoying ourselves but still gave us privacy. And they even supplied us with a few things that we needed with no hesitation. Best Airbnb experience we have had. If you are looking for somewhere to stay in Nashville, look no further.

    Amy2015-12-10T00:00:00Z
  • This place was perfect! My girlfriend and I stopped in Nashville on our way down to New Orleans and this place couldn't have been better. Julian greeted us right when we pulled up and showed us around. You have the cottage to yourself, which is filled with little goodies such as coffee, water, snacks, and toiletries. Their backyard is adorable and they even have chickens! The train didn't bother us at all but they leave you with earplugs just in case you may be a light sleeper. Loved it here!

    Alyssa2015-04-27T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay was as good as we'd hoped and expected based on all of the other great reviews. Getting checked in was simple, Julian had everything all set up for us to settle in. He made sure we had everything we needed once we got there. The place is spacious and comfortable. You can tell the area is getting nicer and growing. We would definitely stay again!

    Kelsie2016-05-29T00:00:00Z
  • Julian and his wife have created a lovely, and welcoming place to stay. My husband and I found our time very enjoyable and loved waking up to the silly chickens peeking in the front door saying hello. The space was very clean and had every accomadtion we were looking for. The space was easy to get to, and was a short drive to just about everywhere we wanted to go! We took advantage of the record player provided, and the cozy space to kick back after a long day of exploring the city. The trains can be a bit abrasive, but honestly after the first night they didn't bother me, plus ear plugs are provided if you're a light sleeper! Great space, and we'll definitely be visiting again.

    Courtney2016-01-15T00:00:00Z
  • Julian was very welcoming and happened to be at home when my fiance and I arrived to the cottage. He gave us a quick run down of the property and lots of wonderful restaurant suggestions. This location is perfect if you plan on dining out a lot or have plans in place throughout your stay in Nashville to where you just need a clean, stylish, and relaxing place to lay your head after a day of adventuring!

    Devan2016-10-24T00:00:00Z
  • Such a fantastic stay. It was just what we needed. So easy to get to places from and so much in the area. Julian also had great recommendations. If ever in Nashville, would for sure try to stay at Julian's again.

    Marie2015-07-20T00:00:00Z
  • I'm not sure our trip to Nashville could have been much better, and a lot of that has to do with Julian and Emily. The cottage was sparkling clean and a lot more spacious than we anticipated. Julian graciously let us check in a little early since we were coming straight from photographing and had all of our equipment we wanted to unload from our car. The house is only a short car ride away from lots of things to do, and Julian even provided a list of his and Emily's favorite spaces and restaurants in Nashville. My husband and I pretty much base our vacations on where we will eat our next meal, so this list was super helpful!

    Kelsey2016-04-26T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed staying in the cottage! It's well-decorated, has a cozy bed, and we loved listening to their great records! The Keurig machine is a nice touch and the cottage gets great afternoon and morning light.

Dab rig, pipes, papers, grinder, etc *** The space doesn’t have a consistent smell of cannabis. It’s aired out between every group of guests. * If this place is booked for the dates of your trip, check out our other listing: https://abnb.me/fvZssMVlJT It’s our totally separate private basement. Super nice! Check in is at 2p, but is definitely flexible depending on your needs and the guests prior to you. You can at least drop your bags off if your travel plans have you arriving early in the day. Lauren is a very open-minded queer woman that wants you to have a great time in Denver. She can help you find what you want to do and where you should go to do it. You’ll be communicating with Lauren consistently. Natalie loves to build community and speaks Spanish fluently. The condo is easy to find with lots of street parking. Please park on Arizona Ave. We’re close to the airport in terms of Denver standards -about 25 minutes. The bus system is relatively easy to use but gets limited late at night. You have to climb one flight of stairs to get to the condo. Make yourself at home! We travel a lot for work, so you may need to change your own sheets though it is not likely. Lauren is a sound healer and offers discounted treatments if you stay with us. Lauren’s work is to bring the body from a place of imbalance to a place of balance using the vibrations of ancient instruments. It's like a full cellular body massage! We don't have cable - We have internet, plenty of DVDs and a little projector for a fun entertainment center extraordinaire. If you bring a laptop or gaming system you can connect it via HDMI to the projector. There's a grocery and liquor store within walking distance if you have any needs that I don't have stocked. Feel free to do laundry with my personal machines and supplies.
Very close to I-25, yet quiet and clean. I have very nice neighbors.
  • Home was comfortable and clean. Lauren was great with communication, we felt so welcome and cared for by her and squash, the cat is the real host. :) so grateful to have shared her space.

    Zoe2018-02-11T00:00:00Z
  • Loved staying with Lauren. She gave me all the info to get in easily while she was out of the house, her cat is my new BFF and we had some great late night chats. I'd definitely stay with her again!

  • Lair of Love is the absolute best place my husband and I have ever stayed at. Lauren is very accommodating and thoughtful. She was very quick to respond to any questions we had! The condo is set up exactly how she had described it. We loved the 420 "bar", the warm and inviting decor, and the neighborhood! FIVE STARS for Lauren!!

  • Lauren and Natalie's home was by far the coolest home I've ever stayed in. The interior decor was everything I loved and was only a 15min drive to downtown Denver. Lauren and Natalie were very helpful on giving tips for around the area, as well as being super helpful whenever we had questions :)

5 Points is Denver's historic African American downtown. Once upon a time, Welton Street was home to some of the greatest jazz clubs in the country. The famous Rossonian is in the process of being restored to it's former glory and many music venues have sprung up around the neighborhood. Though the gentrification of 5 Points is well underway, it's residents are hoping to preserve it's diversity and sense of community. This part of Denver is growing and changing rapidly! There are tons of galleries, street art, breweries, restaurants and bars nearby. We are close to Downtown but still quiet and neighborhood-y. please checkout our guide book to see our recommendations. *This is an Urban environment. If you are uncomfortable being around folks of different cultures, classes or colors, please find a different neighborhood to stay in.

  • Eliza was a great host! Everything was exactly how the description of the place said and she responds very quickly. I arrived pretty late on the first day and had no problems for the entire trip! She had a bottle of wine and tequila waiting for me which was awesome! I can't think of how the place could have been better. Renting from Eliza is worth every penny.

Location, location, location! Large, classy, timeless, comfortable, entire top floor with private entrance in our private house out of a 1890's novel in Williamsburg, Brooklyn one block from the East River. So easy to get to Manhattan by subway, ferry, cab or even foot, and all the best places in the "Burg" Wifi/cableTV/air/heat. (We stay in our separate floor below you never compromising your privacy!)
Perfect location on the Northside Williamsburg, Brooklyn Waterfront scene, my place is a wood beamed classic, with hard wood floors and restored original brick wall. It is the top floor of a 1894 restored house on a very nice semi residential street block. The nicely outfitted place, "the country in the sky" as I refer to it, has a beautiful totally functional "Peerless" antique prewar stove for cooking, generous amounts of pots, a wood burning fire place and a full size refrigerator in the kitchen. The feelings are cozy, warm, cabin like yet elegant. The kitchen and living room are in the same open area. There is a dining room table that seats 4, a beautiful brand new couch that folds down to become a very comfortable queen size bed that sleeps 2. Beyond the living area is the large master bedroom with a queen size bed that sleeps 2 with a large antique dresser and 2 riverside windows. Off the master bedroom is a large tiled classic bathroom with an antique skylight and large tub with shower, and a small bedroom with a twin size bed and riverside window that is nice as a separate rest area, a great place for a child to sleep, or an out of sight room to put your luggage and things. My location is beyond great and safe. 10 minutes maximum in a cab or car service over the Williamsburg Bridge and you are in Manhattan. It is a short walk (3 min) to the North 6th Street East River Ferry ( the scenic quick river route to Midtown Manhattan or lower Manhattan, please check schedules). Subways: L train ( gray line): First stop in Brooklyn, only one stop to Manhattan and a neat 10 minute walk from my place going by shops, restaurants and street vendors to the very frequent Northside L train subway stop at Bedford Ave and North 7 St, (Everything you want to pick up to take back to my place is on Bedford Ave or Kent Avenue which are the walking routes to the subway. (Among the small shops, restaurants and bars, there is now a "Whole Foods" supermarket and a Iphone store on Bedford!) The JM subway that goes over the Williamsburg Bridge with wonderful views of the river and NYC skyline to lower Manhattan (Chinatown etc), is a little further (13 min walk ) through the South Side. After a night out in the neighborhood, you will find this quiet, comfortable, timeless place to come home to that is the top floor of a restored Williamsburg house. All East River parks are a short walk away with their spectacular river and skyline views. During the warm months the weekend flea/food markets down Kent Avenue/North 8 on weekends are fun and back dropped by the river and Manhattan skyline. Grand Street River Park is only a block and a half away. I love going there in the mornings with a cup of tea and taking in the NYC view. The quaint restaurants and music clubs are amazing and abundant, the "Williamsburg Foodtown" Market has all the groceries you need and frankly the only reason I would leave the "Burg" would be to go to a museum, St. Patrick's, Grand Central's Oyster Bar or ice skating at Rockerfeller Center. Indoor Flea Market on North 7th right off Kent Ave, "Mast Brothers Chocolate" on North 3rd off Berry, "Beer Garden" restaurant lunch, dinner, brunch with live music on Friday nights on North 3rd and Berry, "Sea" restaurant (Thai) on North 6, "Sweet Water" (Bistro) restaurant on North 6, "Dumont Burger" for awesome burgers on Bedford between South 2-3, "Aurora" (Northern Italian) with great brunches, lunches and dinners is right around the corner as is "Coxley's" sport bar with 40 beers on tap and great chicken wings on Grand St. "Teddy's" rest and bar (American Bistro) on North 8, a landmark that serves brunch, lunch and dinner and also has music sometimes at night, and the "Knitting Factory" music performance space and bar is 6 blocks away on Metropolitan. The best NY steak house, "Peter Luger's" reservations only, is in the vicinity. The floor is divided in 4 areas: upon entering you are in the kitchen and living, dining room with a wall and door that separates this space from the large bedroom in the front, the large tiled bathroom and the smaller front bedroom. The living area can easily convert to a sleeping area for 2. The place is adorable and sleeps four comfortably. Much quieter than most places in the area. Heat, air conditioning, wifi, fine linens/towels and kitchen utensils are provided for my guest. Full laundry drop off service and dry cleaners is available a couple of blocks up the street at "Berry Cleaners" or 302 Bedford Ave. My personal assistant/butler and I will check with you on your arrival time, hand over keys and be close at hand for anything you need during your stay. I and my husband are on our private lower floor of the house.
The neighborhood feels like a small village. It is very safe and has such a mixture of different foods, cultures, and restaurants. The Manhattan skyline views along Kent Ave can get no better and the wonderful Pier off North 5 on a Sunday afternoon is full of families, tourist and the occasional fisherman. During the warmer months there are outdoor flea markets and food markets of North 8 on the East River side. Bedford Avenue (3 blocks away) on the North and South side is filled with non chain restaurants, bars and shops.
  • A wonderful, rustic apartment, very close to the waterfront and amenities, and walkable to all of Williamsburg's bars and restaurants. Great service from our host Azul who was very helpful and communicative throughout. We were able to leave our baggage in the room and pick up later as we had an evening flight. We've already recommended this large, charming and convenient apartment to friends. Thank you Maria and Azul!

    Neil2015-07-09T00:00:00Z
  • Wow. We could not have been treated better by both Maria and Azul. Spot-on recommendations for amazing ethnic restaurants in the area (all were so elegant casual and super gracious with our 4-yr old twins). They stayed in touch with us during our stay, and could not be more friendly, kind, caring and fun. The apartment is perfectly appointed with warmth and history and personality (AND... I have to note that the sheets were ironed! Yes, you read that right. Hospitality at its finest!!!) Its location is in the hub of everything, but still the area is quiet and very neighborhood safe. We took the ferry to Manhattan one day, the subway another and each had its own upside. Without hesitation, my family will stay here again. And again.

    Kristina2016-06-11T00:00:00Z
  • The place was great! Descriptions was exactly as posted! Azul greeted us and showed us around the space with great welcoming energy :)

    Eva2014-10-31T00:00:00Z
  • My stay in Maria's lovely apartment was wonderful from booking through check-out. Her assistant, Azul, met me at check-in and was really helpful with my luggage and showing me around the apartment. It was well air-conditioned, which was a welcome surprise as A/C in NYC apartments can be spotty. The bed was also really comfortable. I highly recommend Maria's apartment. It is located centrally to all the best spots in Williamsburg -- easy walking to coffee shops and there is even a wine store across the street.

    Abigail2015-07-14T00:00:00Z
  • Our time in Brooklyn was fantastic! What a great location for an Airbnb!! The place was so clean and it was easy to get in contact with our host! Thank you so much for such a positive experience!

    Kerrie2016-05-01T00:00:00Z
  • We were greeted by Azul who was very welcoming and took us through everything we needed to know. The property is a very warm and accomodating space. Very Stylish and it feels really homely. This is in a great local neighbourhood with loads and loads of independant shops and places to eat and hear music. Great transport links with a 10 min walk to the Subway J and Z at Marcey Ave and L at Bedford. Superb East River Ferry is five minutes away for direct links to Manhattan and Brooklyn Bridge DUMBO.

    Rob 2016-04-22T00:00:00Z
  • In a fantastic location in Williamsburg, Maria's place is perfect for trips out to Brooklyn and downtown/midtown Manhattan. Prior to check in Maria was available via email and was always quick to respond. Maria had suggested early that she would not be available to meet us, so we met with Gregory who was great. He showed us the whole apartment and gave some local hints and tips. Overall we had a nice stay without issue. Air con units provided were great in the unusually warm week! Best access to transport is with the East River ferry, a few moments walk with excellent connections to Manhattan. The only comment is if you are a larger party there are no curtains in the living area, so using the sofa bed - which was very comfy- may have you waking pretty early in the summer.... Although perhaps not the worse thing in NY. Williamsburg is a great area of Brooklyn and Maria's quirky apartment fits in wonderfully.

    Sam2015-06-12T00:00:00Z
  • Maria and Azu are wonderful hosts. The vintage furnished apartment is beautiful, especially the old stove. The neighborhood (Williamsburg) is great; many lovely restaurants where you can have delicious breakfast/brunche. This apartment is perfect for 3 persons. One small comment: the apartment could use one or two more blankets. All in all, I will definitely recommend friends and family to stay in this apartment when visiting New York city.

Downtown, the best bit of Manhattan. One of, if not the, LARGEST space on Airbnb in NYC. Your Own PRIVATE Bathroom & PRIVATE Bedroom, a Terrace off the bedroom, near to subways/buses, restaurants, bars, real luxury right in the middle of things. Just read our 400+ 5-STAR REVIEWS and you will see why we are SUPER-HOSTS and why you will just love this place, like other guests, I promise. Si, hablo bien espanol, Français parlé assez bien.
Downtown Manhattan, .. just like you see it in the films. Only so much better in real life !! All the details are below so that will see all that you will experience on your trip to the Big Apple - there are lots of things you will love when you stay here, but PLEASE PLEASE (did I say please?) try to read all the way to the end of the description, including sleeping arrangements, information on the area, getting around and the frequently asked questions. I know it is a bit of a novel, but it is well worth it and, from experience, it makes sure you understand everything in detail and ensures you will have the best stay that you can. Anything at all that you are not sure about, if you are new to Airbnb for example, just ask and I will get back asap and clarify. • Very spacious loft apartment ( about 2000 sq feet, 188 sq m, at last measure - so very BIG for New York) in the center of arguably the coolest area of the city (please do not argue ), modern, minimalist furniture , very open, very clean, I take great pride in having a spotless living environment (that goes for the host too). A Massive space that gets flooded with light via a wall of windows. Just take a look at the pictures. High security. Walking distance to subways & museums. Friendly building and very safe neighborhood. • Your own PRIVATE bathroom - Large, spacious, with Jacuzzi Bath, Shower, Hairdryer, Kohler fixtures. Fresh towels etc. Fully-stocked. All the shampoo and things you will ever need. Just for you. • Your own PRIVATE bedroom - Queen Bed for 2, firm and soft pillows for every type of sleeper, linens, towels, Large Flat Screen TV, Netflix, Amazon TV etc, Wardrobe. Again only for you. • Large kitchen - Open concept with an area to eat and with everything you need to design a gourmet feast, top of the line GE appliances, Microwave, Toaster, Kettle , Dishwasher, stainless steel counter top etc. Make any food you want - if it is really good, give me some. Make coffee there in the morning - always available -- you have your very own little coffee bar. • Very large living area, Real Fireplace, WiFi, Surround sound HDTV with HDMI hook-up and Roku TV, Bose sound system with iPhone/iPod hook-up, the best choice in music (in my opinion, most not consulted). Sit.... Enjoy • Large dining area - seats lots, great views over the city and over the Williamsburg Bridge. Eat foods mentioned above (probably while seated, although one can never be sure). • Natural brick walls (as opposed to unnatural I suppose) and a lovely Merbeau wooden floor, both of which look good (but don't say much). • Floor to ceiling windows throughout - bathed in sun (when the sun is out, mainly, of course) • Outside secluded seating area and balcony - you access directly from your room - very secluded (sometimes I cannot find it) • Full air conditioning / heating in the room and in rest of loft - be hot, be cool (most likely one at a time) • Bosch Washer and Dryer - for you to use - we like to reserve that for guests who stay for 3 nights or longer - being kind to the world too, we try to use cold water as well where possible. • Keyed Private elevator entrance directly into Loft - of course you have your own key (or stairs if u have the energy - does not seem so popular, strangely) • Printer / Scanner available. Pens and paper too, if you are a traditionalist.(although we draw the line at camel hair brushes, I'm sure you understand). And there is a universal power adapter for you to use to charge your gadgets too. • The building is a very smart development, a recently renovated 7-story apartment block with original brick facade, great views of the city skyline. Quiet, lovely, village feel, with parks and pedestrian areas just outside, but close enough to get anywhere very easily. I think I am allowed to say it is authentic. • This is a very large and comfortable space that you will be free to enjoy as you wish (this is your vacation after all). You will have lots of privacy and as well as the city, you have Books, Music (great as mentioned above), Roku TV with lots of channels and an online DVR and more .... or just relax and chat. Up to you. We provide the following publications too New York Times New York Magazine so you can feel a bit like a New Yorker • Located in the heart of Downtown - food (some of the best in the city), drink, fun, shopping all very, very close. A very cool residential neighborhood just a short trip to all the action. Perfect location for exploring both sides of the river too, as very close to Brooklyn and Williamsburg. One of the most historic neighborhoods in the U.S. (perhaps the most). We are only a few minutes away from the walkway along the East River, it has a great view of the Brooklyn bridge and Manhattan Bridge. Nearly opposite the Tenement Museum (which is really great). TV, Film and general interest media all the time (become a star - or an extra anyway) ,music clubs and comedy left right and center and Alphabet City, Ludlow Street , East Village, Chinatown and Soho all in spitting distance - and I can not spit far. Direct Access to cabs just outside building. • Food shopping wise, it is 3 blocks from a Whole Foods and a couple of blocks from the Essex Street Market. Great food shopping if you want. I hope everything is covered - email if you need more information. I hope to see you soon and I hope I can be part of your visit to this unique place.
Best neighborhood in Manhattan for independent coffee shops, cozy wine bars, up-and-coming restaurants (the area has 4 out of the top 10 best places to eat in this years NY magazine list) , intimate music venues, and interesting owner-operated shops. Like no other area in the city. A very peaceful cool neighborhood, yet just a short trip to all the action. Check out the "Guidebook" with my listing -- I send a much longer one that I have written directly to guests that do decide to stay before they get here - and they love it, mention it often in their reviews and keep asking for extra copies!!
  • We absolutely adore Carol and Marc. This was our 2nd stay with these outstanding hosts. The pictures are exactly what you get. This place is close to everything. We stayed 7 days and wished we could have stayed much longer. Carol and Marc are very friendly and easy to talk to. They are very knowledgeable and will give you fantastic recommendations. Do yourself a favor and stay here. We will always stay with them on all of our trips. There are not enough words to express how happy we are to have spent the week with them. Go England! It’s coming home!!

  • Carol and Marc were perfect hosts! Both are very kind and helpful. We could ask everything. The apartment is awesome and located exciting area of New York. It almost felt like home! Thank you so much for this great experience!

  • My husband and I stayed with Marc and Carol for 5 nights and had a very comfortable and enjoyable stay. Marc was always available but never intrusive and provided us with all the information we needed. The apartment is well located with an overwhelming amount of choices (a happy problem!) when it came to bars and restaurants. The bedroom and bathroom was extremely clean and we woke up well rested and ready to take on Manhattan each morning. We will not hesitate to stay with Carol and Marc again and we highly recommend their lovely L.E.S loft.

    Kate2014-03-14T00:00:00Z
  • Marc and Carol were fabulous hosts and we loved their place. The common kitchen/living area was spacious and inviting with tons of windows, and the proximity to the subway was great. Loved the patio off our bedroom, and we slept great! Entire unit was very clean, decorated nicely, and we were provided frig/cabinet space, luxurious bath towels/sheets, and convenient toiletries. We felt completely safe in the unit and in the area. Marc and Carol were wonderful to chat with, very accommodating for our arrival and holding our luggage, and they knew the area well, suggesting options that fit our agenda perfectly. Fantastic stay, would highly recommend!

    Sarah2016-09-21T00:00:00Z
  • My friend Jo and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay with Carol and Marc in New York. After arriving a little harassed from the subway and carrying a bit bag I was immediately put at ease on meeting Marc, who was lovely and helped me to arrange meeting my friend as my phone wasn't working! We used Carol and Marc's insider tips and found great places to go out, eat and drink. The apartment is amazing, the Lower East Side a fantastic place to stay, we felt at home, comfortable and had all the amenities we needed. I don't hesitate in recommending Carol and Marc as hosts to anyone, the apartment is fantastic as is the area. We spent a fabulous time in New York and when I return it will be to stay here! Thanks again the pair of you!

    Hannah2014-11-25T00:00:00Z
  • Carol and Marc were perfect hosts! Their apartment is beautiful and well located near subway stops and many attractions! Our room and bathroom were spacious and clean. The hosts were open and friendly with just the right amount of involvement. Our first Airbnb was a hit ! Thank you Marc and Carol for making our stay such a pleasant One! Come to Texas, Y'all !!

    Cheryl2015-09-17T00:00:00Z
  • The appartement is great and has everything you need. Carol and Marc are very friendly, and they made us feel at home. We were even invited to celebrate thanksgiving with the family!

    Jasper2014-11-30T00:00:00Z
  • Carol and Marc were very nice and helpful hosts. They provided a long lists of things to do, printed our Broadway tickets (which was a slight ordeal) and made sure we had everything we needed. The apartment is clean, beautiful and "New Yorky". The room was well lit and roomy with private AC and private deck. Fluorescent lights stay on all night outside over deck but the heavy curtains can block them out. If you are sensitive to heat and traveling in the summer, let them know in advance and they will turn on the AC in the living area. It was very warm when we were there and we only had AC in the living area on the last day. If you are sensitive to your space know that your room is right next to theirs so you may pass on the way to your bathroom.

A cozy cottage behind a lovely Victorian house. It has a 3/4 bath (shower). The cottage has a brick patio and a large trellis covered with roses and grape vines set in an English Garden. Also, see our equally nice "Victorian in the Heart of Ballard" rental: https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/20928
A cozy cottage behind a lovely Victorian house with separate access and a 3/4 (meaning shower but no bathtub) bathroom. The cottage has a brick patio and a large trellis on the south side covered with roses, grape vines, and wisteria and is surrounded by an English Garden. The pictures posted should give you the right idea. (Alternative accommodation: We also have a really lovely rental space in the main house. See: https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/20928 ) The cottage: there is a microwave, a small fridge, and an electric kettle for making coffee or tea. It offers considerable privacy if that is desired. The bed is queen-sized. Extra high-speed WiFi is also provided along with cable TV, including all of the premium channels. It is also possible to close some giant wood-paneled pocket doors if you want to divide the studio into a bedroom and sitting room, if case someone wants to sleep and someone else does not. The cottage is used as a studio by Liz (who is the English gardener) when it is not being used as a guest house. So there is a lot of (really excellent) art, mostly studies in the human form, on the walls and shelves. (If you would like a cast of one of the statues, talk to Liz.) The Ballard Neighborhood is a great place to visit: *10 minute walk to downtown Ballard with fabulous bars and restaurants, great Sunday farmers market, nice three-screen cinema, and much more. *5 minute walk to the Ballard Locks, where ships enter and exit Puget Sound from Seattle waterways. *10 minute drive to downtown Seattle. Buses also run regularly downtown from close by - either to downtown Seattle or to the University District and elsewhere. Evenings are very quiet here and the air quality is unusually good for a city. We get a fresh sea breeze off of Puget Sound in the early evening. Guests find the cottage a calming and refreshing refuge from the bustle of the city.
Ballard is a fantastic destination neighborhood for restaurants and bars and music. We are an easy walk (5-10 minutes) from downtown Ballard. Great breakfast places even closer.
  • A unique and refreshing stay- I did a mini writer's retreat in their nicely crafted cottage art studio in Ballard. Surrounded by sculptures and work in progress, this was just the place for tuning in with my Muse. Nearby cafes and the Golden Garden Beach were nice walking breaks too. Their two curious cats added an amusing note.

    Carol2013-02-11T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful stay at The Cottage. Brad and Liz were welcoming and hospitable while making the place feel like it was our own. The cottage is clean and comfortable, far enough away from the Ballard scene that it is quiet, but close enough that it is walkable without problem. We tired ourselves out eating, walking, and seeing much of Seattle, and it was lovely to know that we'd have a tranquil place to rest when we were done.

    Erica2015-05-31T00:00:00Z
  • Brad and Liz were very welcoming and kind. The studio is a really beautiful, amazing space. I love Liz's paintings and sculpture., and the atmosphere in the studio is phenomenal. UNfortunately, I have chemical sensitivities and had a reaction to the fabric softener they use in their laundry, which caused me to cut my visit short. Most people would probably not have this issue at all, but anyone with chemical sensitivities might want to let the Severtson's know ahead of time, and be aware of this.

    Diane2011-12-12T00:00:00Z
  • Brad and Liz's backyard art studio & cottage is a wonderful place to stay in Ballard. They were very welcoming and full of suggestions for great restaurants. The cottage is within easy walking distance of many options for food and entertainment, as well as bus routes, so we could have left our car parked for the weekend and not even worried about driving. It was clean and cozy and had a very comfortable futon. A bonus for us was getting to hang out with their lovely cat, Jasper. What a sweetheart! We'd definitely love to stay here again.

    Melanie And Kyle2014-11-03T00:00:00Z
  • We enjoyed our stay & thought the cottage was a great value! The location was quiet and cozy, while still walkable to the heart of Ballard. Bed was really comfortable, and once we had the space heaters going it stayed pretty warm in the cottage. Brad was very nice & helpful, and they had a bunch of city maps & info available.

    Afton2015-11-04T00:00:00Z
  • If you are planning to visit Seattle and this AirBNB is available, don't read another review and just book it. The apartment is located in the best part of town within walking distance of amazing restaurants, great shops, and even a farmer's market. All the neighbors are really friendly but they don't come close to the kindness you will be offered to by Brad & Liz. Great people who made sure our stay was as perfect as can be. We will be back.

    Fred2015-10-19T00:00:00Z
  • It is a great space to relax in. The space is quiet peaceful and relaxing. It is close to local bars and coffee shops. It was a great place to stay.

  • Brad and Liz’s place has a great location to explore Ballard and the surrounding areas including Fremont. It is a very unique suite with lots of interesting art! The hosts were very kind and helpful. We loved the Sunday Market in Fremont and it was great to be only a 5 min walk to NW Market street in Ballard!

  • Lance's house is so cool! Unbeatable views, incredibly clean, beautiful furniture. Lance had a lot of great recommendations for places to go and things to see. We loved falling asleep with a view of Portland lit up below. And Bukowski the cat is sweet and stayed out of our way except to purr hello in the morning. All around great stay.

  • Lance was both welcoming and accommodating. He is very laid back and a great host. Great views from our room - it was somewhat foggy the weekend we stayed but it did clear up long enough for us to experience the great view.

Unique hand built cob cottage next to lg. pond w water feature. Lg. fenced and gated yard. Gentle, curving space-made from sand, straw, water and earth . Featured in multiple international publications. The floor is also earthen clay with added radiant heat. Beautiful natural light. It's truly a magical place.
It's a curvilinear earthen structure hand sculpted from water, sand, straw, and clay earth. It features a radial roof with a central pagoda-like skylight. When building the Cob, we used reclaimed and natural materials when ever possible. The insulation in the ceiling is made from pulverized reclaimed blue jeans and the floor is made from the same earthen clay. It has a Dutch door, so you can open the top part for additional ventilation. It also has air conditioning available in the warmer months and a radiant heat floor. The bed is a very comfortable double with a memory foam mattress topper. The bathroom for the cottage is in the main house, about 40 steps to the back door. Inside you’ll find a large sitting room and full kitchen as well as your bath with claw foot tub and shower. These spaces are shared with 2 Airbnb rooms in the house. If you find the bath busy, our full bath is available upstairs on the second floor.
We are located in a sweet older neighborhood in inner SE Portland, built around the turn of the century. The neighborhood is extremely walkable/bikeable, and just two blocks from one of Portland's great restaurant rows, filled with unique locally owned restaurants, coffeehouses, bars, food carts, pot shops, ice cream vendors, pizza joints, clothing retailers, yoga studios and yes, even an old-school hardware store.
  • Fantastic location, 5 minute walk from some great restaurants and bars

    Kalie2017-04-05T00:00:00Z
  • MAGICAL. I imagine many children were conceived here it's so magical. I loved the unique cob room, it was warm, welcoming, and tastefully decorated. The bed was comfortable, the fountain relaxing, and the cats friendly. I simply cannot wait to book this place again but I will have to plan well ahead because it books so quickly. My friend and I were visiting Portland and Mt. St. Helens and the AirBNB was a nice stroll to PokPok and Salt & Straw, two of my favorite eateries I always hit up when I'm in the area.

    Deanna2016-09-14T00:00:00Z
  • Really cool little place to stay that's truly unique. Didn't see the other guests often and they were really friendly, as were the cats! Close to everything and easy to find with a lovely garden in a neighborhood bursting with flowers. Only thing I'd wish for is consistent hand towels in the bathroom. ;)

  • If you’re a fan of Division - this is your place. We weren’t at home much but it’s amazing walking distance to bars, wine bars, breweries, coffee shops, and a pot shop!

  • The cob house at Jack and Cris' place is really nicely built and unique. It was cozy with a comfy bed, quiet, and the location is wonderful. We had a fantastic time in Portland, including walking a few blocks from 'home' to a wonderful cafe and a waffle restaurant for breakfast. It's walking distance to some of Portland's best, including Blue Star donuts and Bollywood restaurant. With the car everything else is very accessible. Overall a wonderful visit and a lovely little home base! Thank you Jack and Cris.

    Lynn2018-06-23T00:00:00Z
  • This place is beautiful! It is within walking distance to great restaurants and bars nearby. The cottage came with several resting areas outside which is perfect with sunny weather. We didn't reach out to Jack and Cris for much, but they were helpful when we arrived. I would definitely stay here again.

    Selina2017-05-28T00:00:00Z

Intact, late Victorian neighborhood with beautiful architecture - walkable, friendly, diverse and community oriented. A truly unique neighborhood in the heart of DC.
  • Paul is an amazing host, he was flexible in meeting us for check in times and even met us at 7am so we could check out early. This home is secluded and romantic -highly recommended for couples.

    Laura2017-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • Paul's place was absolutely beautiful and Paul himself was very accommodating when it came to checking in and out. He met us at check-in and introduced us to all of the local shops the neighborhood had to offer, which was super helpful. We had a wonderful time and ended up eating at some of his recommendations. We'd definitely stay here again next time we visit DC!

    Kathy2017-04-14T00:00:00Z
  • Paul's garden suite gave me a snug base camp from which to depart for an interview the next day. It has been very tastefully designed and decorated. Also, it is accessibly situated in the midst of a fun and relaxed part of town. I found the garden to be a green and inviting refuge from the urban drear that normally plagues DC in the winter.

    Andrew2014-11-22T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great experience in D.C. Paul was at work when we arrived, and Zach welcomed us, he is very friendly and helpful. We even got a map made by them with all the informations that we need. The room was very cozy and well decorated, the neighborhood was beautiful and safe. We enjoyed so much. Read that article about Zach and the house, HE IS AMAZING!!!!

    Qinxue2015-07-17T00:00:00Z
  • Paul and Zach thank you for having us! Your place is lovely and the rain did not dampen our experience. Thank you. The map was perfect, the location amazing and everything was exactly how we pictured it. The hot chocolate was a bonus!

  • Paul was an amazing host. He met me out front when I arrived and filled me in on the best things to do nearby, including restaurants, pubs, coffee shops, and a good place to go for a run in the morning. The space was very clean with plenty of towels, water, coffee, and snacks. Private entrance with a cozy garden right outside the door. Bus stops and bike share are right around the corner.

    Warren2018-10-18T00:00:00Z
  • This was by far the best choice I have ever made on this app. Paul and his partner created the most beautiful, wonderful space and took extra care to make sure I knew all about the area. He took the time to draw a map of the area with his favorite spots listed. I will be coming back for sure.

    Jd2018-07-06T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful time staying at Paul's Airbnb. He is such a gracious host and incredibly kind person. we really appreciated the neighborhood map that he made for us with highlights of restaurants and coffee spots in walking distance. Metro stop easy walking distance through a charmingly restored neighborhood. The apartment was adorable and comfortable and the garden was so beautiful ! Highly recommend!
