Escape civilization to this incredible and peaceful getaway! Reconnect with nature and disconnect from technology on your own private deck surrounded by pristine and untouched nature just a short drive away from LA.
This is the personal Airstream of a nature-loving Malibu designer who built it as his personal getaway from his busy hectic schedule. Stripped down to its bare aluminum studs, the airstream has been redesigned into a large studio with three large frameless glass panels that slide open to a huge cantilevered deck with unrivaled views of the pristine Santa Monica mountains rolling down to the Pacific ocean below. Lounge in our luxury extra thick wool rugs and cotton poufs, drive down to surf one of Malibu's best breaks or go hike Sandstone Peak (Santa Monica's highest mountain). But whatever you do, make sure not to miss the incredible sunsets off our deck. At night, watch the milky way appear and count the constellations above or the moon reflect on the ocean below. And if the wind is right, listen to the sounds of the crashing waves travel up the canyon or even the seals barking down below. And then at dawn, if you're lucky with the morning fog, wake up above the clouds like you are the only person in this planet. VERY IMPORTANT: DO NOT CLICK ON THE AIRBNB LINK FOR DIRECTIONS as it might take you to the wrong location. Only use the accurate directions provided on our itinerary. If you don't you might get lost and we are not responsible if you do not follow our easy and foolproof directions. PLEASE DO NOT BOOK THIS LISTING if you are afraid of nature or its creatures. Understand you are surrounded by thousands of completely untouched nature. You are very likely to hear (or see) coyotes, owls, seals, roadrunners and bunnies. There is a bobcat in the area but these are usually very skittish. There are a mice in the Santa Monica mountains. About once a month, a guest will complain that they saw a mouse. Said mouse might come into the airstream if food is left outside the fridge. We do not offer refunds if a mouse comes into the airstream but we do have 4 traps around the airstream so the odds are heavily stacked against the mice. In three years we have yet to ever see a rattle snake near the airstream so the area is definitely not prone to them. This listing is weather dependent. If there is a high chance of rain scheduled during your stay we reserve the right to cancel the reservation due to potential slippery road conditions and the fact that we have to store all the expensive furniture inside the airstream. The beauty of this experience lies in seeing infinite views and yet no trace of humankind. Sleeping with the doors open, under the milky-way while hearing the ocean waves crashing below and the occasional seal barking in the distance or coyote howling for its pack. Our guests have the most special nights here. Reconnect with nature and disconnect from technology :-)
Circle x ranch, county line beach, matador beach, zuma as well as many other hikes are all less than 10mn away.
  • Wow! Stunning- this was such an amazing, one off experience. The views are insane and the air stream itself is very well kitted out. The most memorable place I’ve stayed, we will be back

  • One of a kind adventure, with amazing view of the ocean ! It was a great stay ...

  • I highly recommend staying at Cassy’s incredible airstream. We watched shooting stars at night and woke up above the clouds. The photos don’t do this amazing place justice. Truly an experience we will never forget.

    Taelor2018-07-14T00:00:00Z
  • Definitely a unique and special experience! Amazing views during the day, sunset, and at night. I would never do it again as I am squeamish of bugs but it’s worth a one time experience :) My suggestion if you’re coming during the summer/warmer weather, bring a small fan with extension chord to plug into the provided solar power unit and a bug net. We unfortunately came during one of the hottest weekends but that’s nature, not Cassy’s fault :) It was nice to be secluded and enjoy Mother Nature, there’s almost no service there but we did get random pockets of cell/data service. Everything was as described and very clean!

    Aileen2018-07-09T00:00:00Z
  • There are no words to describe my experiance with this Airbnb find! It was simply amazing! The pictures are exactly what you get and the views are breathtaking. What I loved the most was the fact that there was almost nothing else around besides a couple of houses in the distance. If your looking for a very private and secluded getaway then this is for you. I have absolutely no complaints but keep in mind that you will have no phone service but they did have a radio and plenty of books to relax and enjoy the views. The dirt road going up was not bad at all and the cold shower was an interesting experiance... All in all Id love to book this listing again and so should you!

The Joshua Tree House is a two bed two bath 1949 hacienda located 10 minutes from the west entrance of Joshua Tree National Park in Joshua Tree, CA. This is a place for dreamers to reset, reflect, and create. Designed with a 'slow' pace in mind, our hope is that you enjoy every part of your stay; from making local coffee by drip in the morning, choosing the perfect record to put on as the sun sets, or by relaxing in the hot tub surrounded by over 100 Joshua Trees and a starry night sky.
Instagram: @thejoshuatreehouse (all photos tagged with #thejoshuatreehouse) This house is very close to downtown Joshua Tree with many shops and restaurants about a 10 minute walk from the house. This also means that some sound from the highway can be heard. If you're looking for a completely silent desert experience, we would recommend our other property: The Joshua Tree Casita (https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/10614974). Please also check that listing if you can't find the dates you're looking for. Welcome to the Joshua Tree House! This hacienda was built in 1949. With over 100 Joshua Trees on the property, the views from the house are magical. If you're up for it, sunrise on the front porch is incredible. We estimate that some of the larger Joshua Trees on the property are as old as our country! *Mattresses and Bedding by Casper* There are two bedrooms and two bathrooms in the house, and works well for a group of friends, two couples, or small families. We can also set up an extra memory foam mattress in the hammock room (has privacy with pocket sliding doors) to accommodate groups of six.
Joshua Tree is a small community made up of musicians, artists, and explorers. In the village you will find locally owned and run restaurants, art galleries, music venues, and vintage shops. There are many wonderful places to visit during your stay at the house including the Joshua Tree National Park, Pappy & Harriet's, the Integratron, Salvation Mountain, the Salton Sea, Noah Purifoy Outdoor Museum, Crossroads, BKB Ceramics, and la Copine (a delicious new french restaurant in the desert).
  • What a lovely place to spend a retreat from the hustle and bustle of life. This beautiful, eclectic house is just minutes from the village and the Joshua Tree National Park. Cynthia the custodian was away whilst we were there so we had the entire place to ourselves. She left tons of great guides/maps for us and delicious tea in the fridge. We spent many happy hours taking pictures of the Joshua Trees at sunrise and sunset on the property and star gazing at night. We totally fell in love with Joshua Tree and can't wait to come back... maybe when it's cooler though!

    Clare2011-08-26T00:00:00Z
  • Such a beautiful home in a beautiful place. The Joshua Tree House is the perfect place to sit back and relax. Sara & Rich did an amazing job inside and out. You will feel at home the second you step in. The instructions and suggestions were clear and helpful, the hot tub and hammock are great and the local coffee we enjoyed in the morning was a nice touch as well. Can't wait to be back. Thank you Sara & Rich! François

    François2016-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Sara replied to my request to book almost immediately - she was very responsive and welcoming. She also sent a beautifully illustrated guide with house rules and recommendations for the area which proved not only to be beautiful, but very thoughtful - just like the home itself. The recommendations were great and we had a wonderful time sampling the local cuisine. As for our stay at the Joshua Tree House, my husband and I only wish we could have stayed longer. The space is a designer's dream, the location is magical, and the hot tub was the icing on the cake. If you are looking to make your vacation to Joshua Tree that much more special, you can't go wrong with The Joshua Tree House!

    Gina2015-10-17T00:00:00Z
  • After eyeing this beautiful spot on (Hidden by Airbnb) for ages, it was absolutely incredible to finally stay here. The house itself is absolute decorating goals, from the carefully selected books to the amazing light fixtures and of course those swinging chairs! We had an amazing time in the High Desert exploring the park (only a 10 minute drive from the house) and checking out the spots on Sara & Rich’s list of recommendations. Joshua Tree sunsets are also hard to beat, and the front porch was a great place to take it all in before hitting the road for the day. We will definitely be back! Thanks for an incredible couple nights guys!

    Mel2018-07-17T00:00:00Z
  • Such a magical place! Wish we could have stayed longer. :)

    Caroline2017-08-23T00:00:00Z
  • Sara & Rich's place is your (Hidden by Airbnb) 's favorite place. every corner holds a new treasure & it is aesthetically absolutely a dreamland. There was no microwave and the kitchen was overall very disappointing, so if you are planning to cook dinner during your stay this is not the right AirBnb. Otherwise, it was great! Very cold, but great.

    Morgan2018-01-08T00:00:00Z
  • This place is magical, and its hosts are second to none. The sunrises from this house are like none I’ve ever witnessed before. The vistas, proximity to the Park, amenities, decor, and incredible hospitality combine to make for a wonderful, cozy, relaxing retreat. One little anecdote about the service — we messaged the hosts because we couldn’t find the tub drain cover to draw a bath. Within 45 minutes, Geneva had arrived with a new one! This is our second stay with Sara and Rich and we will keep coming back. It’s that good.

    Erica2017-12-21T00:00:00Z
  • A magical place to escape! It's spacious, unique, centrally located and secluded at the same time. Amazing Joshua Trees and cacti in the garden, great hot tub and wonderful details in and around the house. We loved Sara and Rich's notebook with some local tips and must sees. Too bad we didn't get to meet them in person though.

Aug. 23rd just opened up: next available day is in November. With a geodesic dome loft & a large deck in the trees, you'll feel like you're in a tree house in the woods. Since we book so far in advance, if you would like to stay here, check out our other listing, the Hummingbird Haven: https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/6562632
We have 10 acres next to land without fences so you will get to enjoy nature: just hang out on the deck, take a hike in the woods, watch the hummingbirds, pet the goats, go to the beach or gaze at the stars - as long as the moon isn't full. ; ) During the summer, if there isn't any nightly fog, we can see the Milky Way here. To check our availability, click on the "Request to Book" link. And yes, if it isn't available, it is already booked! If you want to stay here on a weekend, you will usually need to make your reservation request about 9-11 months in advance. (Please read all of this description before making a reservation request.) The cozy and clean semi-rustic cabin has a loft under a geodesic dome (the "mushroom cap"). In the loft is a Queen-sized super popular Casper Mattress which allows for very comfortable sleeping and just hanging out, We provide clean sheets and pillow cases. Plenty of blankets are also provided. The other "bed" is a couch that we can make up into a bed. If there are going to be 2 of you, but you want separate beds, please make the reservation for 3 or let me know ahead of time - there is a $10. charge for using it as a bed. In the loft, we have a 32" HD Flat Screen and a DVD player (no TV) for movies. (We have over 80 movies you can view as well.) On the main floor (a Pentagon) is the couch and a pull-out table. We provide a small refrigerator, a blender, Hot Air Popcorn Popper, French Coffee Press, an Electric Water Kettle, a salad spinner and dishes. Yes, we have a wine opener. We have 2 tables where you can enjoy meals, games, etc.: 1 inside and 1 outside on the large deck that faces the redwoods. We also have a barbecue grill on the deck with an extra gas burner on the side. We provide Organic Coffee, teas, Oatmeal, popcorn, butter, honey, sugar, nutritional yeast (for the popcorn!) spices, oil and vinegar and various snacks. Our well water is treated by an ozonator, a UV light and a soft water filter. If you have a baby and you won't be needing the second bed, make your reservation for 2 and let us know if you will need a small pad for the loft. Again, if there are 2 of you but you want to use the second bed, please make your reservation for 3. The cute bathroom has a Travertine shower, custom tiled sink and a Natures Head self-contained composting toilet. Some guests have had a problem with our bathroom, so I want to make it clear that we have a curtain for the door to the bathroom and we require that you put your used toilet paper in the trash. (it won't smell) If you follow the instructions for how to use the toilet, it won't have any odor. If the thought of using a composting toilet grosses you out, then don't make a reservation here. ; ) We provide towels, soap, shampoo, conditioner, a hair blow-dryer, etc. (a word of caution: the bathroom has a low ceiling. If you are over 6' you may have to do a little ducking here and there.) As Saturdays are very much in demand, (and we like to be free on Saturdays), we require a minimum 2 day stay on the weekends. Keep in mind that Friday and Saturday nights are $155. each. Therefore, to stay here on a weekend will cost $310. plus the $35. cleaning fee, the $41 airbnb fee and the 11% Santa Cruz County Transient Tax of about $42. So for the weekend, it will be a total of about $428. To stay for 1 day mid-week costs a grand total of about $200. On 3 day holidays, we require a 3 day reservation. (This includes Presidents Day, Memorial Day, M.L.King day, and Labor Day.) But to stay here on a weekend, you will usually have to book the cabin 6 - 8 months in advance - unless you are lucky to find a cancellation! Check-in time is between 4 and 10pm. If you want to come sooner or later, this can sometimes be arranged. Check-out time is noon. As we have experienced some damage from guests, we are now requiring a $100. security deposit. Although it feels very isolated here, we are less than 10 minutes to Aptos Village where you will find stores, restaurants, a health food store, Safeway, etc. We are centrally located on the Monterey Bay: 10 minutes from the beach (Rio Del Mar and Seacliff State Beach) as well as the 10,000 acre Nisene Marks State Park for miles of hiking or dirt biking in the Redwoods and along Aptos creek. We are 20 minutes to downtown Santa Cruz, 25 min. to the Beach Boardwalk, 45 minutes to Monterey and the world-famous Monterey Bay Aquarium, 50 min. to Carmel and 1 1/2 hours to Big Sur going south and San Francisco to the North. Yup, we are located in one of the most beautiful areas of California. (these times are not during rush hour(s) ; ) If you love hummingbirds, bring your camera. Our garden is the year-round home to many Anna Hummingbirds. (We usually have about 250-500 year-round) During the summer, we are also called home by many Rufus and Allen Hummers as well. So you have got to see our "Hummingbird Airport" where we feed them about 120 oz. of syrup on a summer day! Please, no smoking in the cabin or on the property. We used to let smokers stay here, but they stink up the cabin and it is a fire hazard outside. Some cell phones don't work here, but since we have free wifi in the cabin, if your phone works with a wifi network, you are good to call. You can sometimes get Verizon service on the swinging seat by the driveway. To learn about things to do in the area, do an internet search for Santa Cruz, CA. Dogs are welcome to stay here but with a few requirements: since we have so many animals, we require that your dogs be kept on a leash when outside (the goats get very nervous with large loose dogs). Also, we don't allow dogs in the loft or on the couch downstairs so please bring a doggie bed. (your doggie can go on the couch if you bring a cover for it) If that is difficult, let us know and we will provide a doggie pillow. We have a gate that we can set up so your dog can be off the leash on the deck. If you are bringing a small child, we can put a folding futon (2/3rds of the futon or a foam pad next to the bed ) Just let us know ahead of time. Keep in mind, though, that a child should not be left in the loft by themselves as the bed is fairly high up against the rail. As we are about 3 miles to the nearest bus stop, it is pretty difficult to stay here without a car. You are invited, if you feel you would be harmonious here. Pet the goats, check out our chickens, cats, miniature dog and enjoy the very fresh air. I might even teach you how to milk a goat. If you come here when there is no moonlight and the sky is clear, you will see lots of stars. Tired of the heat in the summer? Since we are on the edge of the "fog belt", it can be both sunny and cool here. If you want a noisy place, you won't like it here: most of the sound here comes from the birds or crickets chirping, the tree frogs croaking and the breeze blowing through the trees. People do live on the land here though, so don't expect it to be totally devoid of human sounds and the occasional chain saw. : ) (We feed the goats oak branches)
Even though we live only a 8 minute drive to Aptos village and the beaches, it feels very remote and private here. It is usually very quiet at night - sometimes we can hear the ocean waves crashing on the beach. There is lots of land to hike on and explore here as well. We have 11 people living here in a rather loose community.
  • Bonkers! A little about me: hyper, in constant need of conversation, never been fond of small spaces and have been plugged into the grid for more than 15 years, non-stop. Guess what? That all melted away as soon as I got to the cabin. I felt the need to experience true alone time and I found it in Aptos. Total battery recharge and sanity-saver. It was quiet, calm and free of all distractions. Beautiful property, gracious hosts and the absolute freedom to look inward with absolute clarity. This is not roughing-it, this is loving-it. I shall return and recommend it to all who need to clear their heads.

  • Kitty and Michael have a wonderful cabin that's perfect for a getaway - it's close enough to a state park to go hiking (Nisene Marks State Park) and close enough to the coast/Santa Cruz to enjoy the beach - it's also far enough out of town to be secluded, but not isolated. The mushroom cabin has everything for a great vacation :)

    Grace2010-06-11T00:00:00Z
  • Had a lovely stay in this cute little cabin. Was surprised how much like a "real" house it was inside! Kitty was very helpful and welcoming.

    Mike2012-09-17T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful stay at the mushroom dome cabin. It is so peaceful and quiet, and the cabin is perfectly outfitted. Kitty is also a wonderful, kind and generous hosts. We came a little unprepared and did not bring any food to prepare for dinner and were wary to drive up the winding slope up to the cabin in the dark, so despite Kitty's restaurant recommendations we decided to stay in. Kitty generously gave us some fresh eggs from her own chickens so we could make an omelet. Our only advice to travelevers would be to come a little more prepared than we did food-wise. For the rest, this place has anything you could need and more! Highly recommended.

    Linda2013-08-27T00:00:00Z
  • This is such a wonderful little place in a lovely setting. There is something about sleeping under a dome that is really magical, it just feels really good. Kitty & Michael couldn't be better hosts, they made us feel so welcome and they gave us a thorough orientation of how everything works in the place. We also got to experience the hummingbirds - I've never seen anything like it, so many beautiful hummingbirds zooming around the feeders and flowers. We were looking for a place off the grid to escape from the buzz of everyday life, this was the perfect place for that. (The cat, really sweet doggie, and goats are also really fun, too.)

    Sheila2016-03-18T00:00:00Z
  • This is truly a special place!! Not only are the accommodations cool, fun and unique but the hosts really live up to the Airbnb experience. Kitty met us upon arrival and right away it felt like we were chatting with a long time friend. We were also very grateful to get to bring our dog Daisy along. Kitty and Michael we thank you for doing what you do; offering genuine hospitality and a sweet retreat! We hope to be back some day and if you come to Ventura we would love to have you at our Airbnb.

    Claudette And Chris2015-10-09T00:00:00Z
  • The Mushroom Dome is as awesome as it looks. It's secluded enough for privacy but close enough to Kitty's home to enjoy her amazing property, which features goats, hummingbirds, chickens, cats, dogs, hummingbirds, a garden, and much more. Kitty is full of energy, knowledge, and warmth, and getting to know her was a blast. Grilling on our final night was a memorable experience. Overall, I couldn't recommend the Dome any higher! You must see it for yourself.

    Varun2015-10-18T00:00:00Z
  • the Mushroom Hut is the best! Kitty was a wonderful host, and I truly enjoyed my time spent there. Hoping to come back for more!

Enjoy peace, quiet, and beautiful views in Cazadero. For each rental, $50 will be donated to Raphael House, a San Francisco organization whose goal is to help at-risk families achieve stable housing and financial independence.
This little a-frame cabin would make a productive retreat for an artist, writer, or musician, or a romantic getaway. Surrounded by redwoods on a private road in Cazadero, my cabin is an hour and forty-five minutes north of San Francisco: a roughly ten-minute drive to the beautiful Sonoma Coast, and just fifteen minutes to Guerneville and wine country in the other direction. Head west and you’ll hit the charming town of Duncans Mills; go east to Monte Rio, and catch a movie at the historic Rio Theater. The full bed sleeps one or two comfortably. No TV or microwave; yes record player, wood-burning stove, equipped kitchen, and lots of cookbooks. The backyard is sunny and sloping with a view. There’s a table and bench on the deck for al fresco dining. And there’s speedy wireless Internet, too.
  • My boyfriend and I are from Los Angeles, and we are in a music project together called Dstnce. We wanted to find a place in the woods to escape and write new music, and this cabin was such a lovely, quiet retreat for us to hole up in and really get some real writing done without the distractions of the city. Really cute and cozy, well curated with vintage knick knacks, board games, a great book selection, and DUH the record player was such a score. In hind sight we would have brought a bunch of our records to listen to along with Rachel's great selection of Bob Dylan, Fleetwood Mac, Billy Joel, The Beatles...RESPECT for adding this touch. The fireplace is also nice, but you have to keep the fire going the whole time if you want the place to stay warm, which was fine by us! The smell of wood fire is a must when staying in a cabin. Kitchen was well outfitted, and the back deck/view was incredible. I totally recommend this place to anyone trying to truly get away. Thanks for the hospitality, Rachel!

    Melanie2015-12-17T00:00:00Z
  • The host made us feel very welcome. She sent us an email prior to the trip that explained everything. Her directions to the place were easy to follow. She gave us ideas of what to see and where to eat. The cabin description was accurate. It was very clean and neat. We had a little confusion finding the light switches but she was immediately available to straighten things out. The setting was beautiful. There appeared to be recent construction as there was a lot of building material laying in the side yard. This took away from the outside space a bit but overall a wonderful experience. We will return!

    Lynn2015-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • If you like a nice, cozy cabin, way up on Magic Mountain, Michael Jackson and Elvis playing in the background on a record player, and you can't forget Blind Beach and the high cliff ocean views at Goat Rock Beach ten minutes away, THIS IS THE CABIN FOR YOU :) Bring an extra little heater and be prepared for all the windows surrounding the cabin so we wished there were curtains at night (Website hidden by Airbnb) Honeymoon 3

    Jasmine2015-01-25T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely little stay at this cute cabin. We were only there for one night but spent some time roaming around nearby Guerneville, then came back and lit up the wood burning stove and enjoyed cooking dinner in the well-equipped kitchen, while sampling music from Rachel's great record collection. The cabin stayed nice and warm through most of the night, and the extra-thick comforter on the bed kept us toasty until morning. And the sleeping nook was an absolute dream to wake up in! Definitely recommended. Thanks, Rachel!

  • Our experience was so wonderful. The house was charming, unique and welcoming and Rachel was a lovely host. The only bad thing is that you won't want to leave.

    Isabelle2016-01-22T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely, charming cabin. Very clean and thoughtfully put together.

    Amy2017-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • Rachel is a consummate host. From efficient communication to detailed directions to excellent recommendations, we were blown away by her hospitality. She thought of everything! The house is one of a kind. A little piece of heaven in the middle of beautiful Redwoods. We cooked in the kitchen, played a few records and so thoroughly enjoyed our little retreat into nature. Would HIGHLY recommend Rachel and her amazing home.

    Chris2014-08-04T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin was wonderful. My fiancé and I went up to the cabin on a stormy weekend. Rachel was very responsive to all of my questions. We ended up having such a great time even though it was rainy. It was so nice just hanging out in the cabin. We loved the record player, such a nice touch.

This inspired dwelling nestled right into the breathtaking Columbia River Gorge mountainside. Reverently framed by the iconic round doorway, the wondrous views will entrance your imagination and inspire an unforgettable journey. Every nook of this little habitation will warm your sole, every cranny will charm your expedition of repose. Up the pathway, tucked into the earth, an unbelievable adventure awaits!
The majority of your neighbors will be deer, rabbits, birds & grouse. It's 2 miles up the mountain and although there are houses it gets more remote the closer you get to the hobbit hole.
  • We had a great time at the Hobbit Hole. I couldn't have asked for anything more!

    Bryn2017-01-04T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing experience! Loved everything detail! The bed was super comfortable and the place smelled wonderful.

    Heidi2018-07-29T00:00:00Z
  • The Hobbit Inn is a magical experience! Every square inch of the hobbit hole is uniquely crafted and thought out. The fire kept us warm and toasty despite temps of 7-15 degrees outside. We enjoyed the provided reading materials and games. There is a chess table and "question cards" to keep you entertained. We loved being off the grid - we did not have cell phone service or a television! It's nice to check out sometimes. We used our winter getaway to try out our new snowshoes and sleds. The area is simply breathtaking! We would highly reccommend a stay here! Our only negative was frozen pipes (which we were told about in advance- and received a discount as we elected not to re book for a different date). The toilet was not usable despite following the recommended advice for pouring water in the bowl to "flush it"! We were not provided enough water (or information) for the bathroom situation. With that being said - go stay here and get lost in the magical world of the hobbit inn! You won't regret it!

    Rachelle2017-01-06T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing experience. The details put into the building of the hobbit hole is impressive. Perfect getaway for my husband and I. I would recommend an SUV type vehicle to reach the hobbit hole. You could make it with a car but it would be a bit more difficult.

  • Our stay at the Hobbit Inn was AMAZING! It looks JUST like the pictures and the view was beautiful. We can't wait to return someday when the other Hobbit Holes are finished. :)

  • The “Hobbit Hole” is magnificent! We knew we would have a good time regardless but Kristie and her team have done an unbelievable job bringing the Shire to life! Regardless if you’re a fan of the Hobbit or LOTR or not, this is such a great weekend getaway with your family! The attention to detail is unbelievable and the view of the Columbia River is breathtaking! We will for sure be returning someday and we encourage everyone else to do as well! Thanks for an amazing experience!

  • The hobbit inn is a perfect getaway for two and even better if you have a pup! Our corgi loved bounding around the hillside and snuggling up by the fire at night. The little hobbit hole looks as good (if not better) in real life and the amenities are charming and clean. The surrounding Chelan area has lots to do and its only a little over an hour from Leavenworth if you want to add more story book charm to your stay. The drive up is not paved, but a sedan would do fine in my opinion and the walk up with make you breathe hard for a minute or two, but well worth it! We will definitely be back! Very comfortable and charming (download the movie to your laptop ahead of time and watch LOTR to add fun!)

  • This place is so unique! Even if you are not a fan of LOTR, it really doesn't matter. Go to this place! Kristie is an amazing host, communication was prompt and informed us of any changes. The real magic of this place is truly escaping the everyday life and not having a care in the world while looking out at one of the most beautiful views I have ever seen in my life. Tucked away in the snowy mountain hills, it was private with only deers, rabbits and birds to keep us company. Delicious scones and cookies were provided, very comfortable bed, warm fireplace and all the essentials to have a warm cup of coffee/tea/cocoa, and space in front of the hobbit house to cook on a small portable propane stove. It was really hard leaving the next morning, recommend staying more than one night. I can't wait to go back to The Shire!

The Off-grid itHouse brings together raw industrial aesthetics with the tactics of green design to forge a new home in the sunbaked wilds of the California high desert.
The Off-grid itHouse is an architecturally significant house, recently noted by Dwell as one of the 'Best Homes in America' and in the Los Angeles Times as one of the best houses of all time in Southern California. The Off-grid itHouse is one of 10 IT Houses built in California, which have received much acclaim such as the Western Home award sponsored by Sunset magazine. Also noted as one of the top 10 airbnb rentals worldwide. This is the prototype for the pre-engineered system known as the IT House. The house is 100% off-grid, powered by solar panels for energy and hot water, and is located in a pristine remote valley in the beautiful California high desert. The house observes key green principals of smaller footprint, minimal disturbance to the natural beauty of the surrounding landscape, use of renewable resources, and living simply and minimally. The setting of the house is remote and serene, a quiet refuge from everything, free from distractions. Amazing views and vistas in all directions. Perfect for design or green aficionados, writers or those needing a secluded quiet getaway.
Located in Pioneertown, CA, nearby several unique attractions, Joshua Tree National Park, Pappy and Harriets Pioneertown Palace, local museums and art venues such as the Noah Purifoy Outdoor Desert Art Museum, the Integratron, and other seasonal events.
  • WOW! Linda, thank you for being the conduit for a truly rare opportunity to connect face to face with the incredible Californian High desert. After driving 6000 miles from NY to Southern California on an Art & Architecture pilgrimage taking in a total of 16 US States & studying iconic works by such brilliant architects as Frank Lloyd Wright, Mies Van Der Rohe, Phillip Johnson, Rick Joy etc etc, we must say your Off-grid itHouse was without question one of the highlights thanks to its architectural integrity, respect for its environment & its unique ability to act like a viewfinder to the living breathing desert, its animals, reptiles & changing kaleidoscope of light & shade. We very much look forward to returning some day soon. Steven and Maya.

  • Amazing! The house is absolutely georgeous and the surrounding breathtaking. The map was very helpful to find the way to the house. Everything was like described from Linda. We stayed for four nights and it was an unique experience for us. We will come back.

  • This is an amazing house! Go there! Thank you so much : )

    Alex2014-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay at the Off-grid itHouse was wonderful! The setting is stunning and the structure is quite impressive. The capacity of solar panels also impressed us as we had no need to compromise whatsoever. The house is located relatively close to Pioneertown, but certainly far enough from everything and everyone to maintain a piece and quite that every city dweller has forgotten existed. We thoroughly recommend the Off-grid itHouse if you are planning a trip to Joshua Tree. You simply can't go wrong.

    Wesley2015-04-12T00:00:00Z
  • House and views are magnificent! One suggestion we would have is bring a backup cooler if you're bringing perishables. we had heavy cloud cover one of the days (not sure about the preceding one's) that limited power that eventually went out @6pm. There is a generator that can be used with owners permission but she was on travel. ended up going into town for some blocks of ice to make sure food didn't spoil. Other than that no issues. We just happened to be staying @ the time the Perseus meteor shower was going on and it was amazing. Can completely see the milky way and Andromeda at night from the house.

    Hans2017-08-13T00:00:00Z
  • Great location. Fantastic simple and minimalistic architecture. It's all gigantic windows. We loved it.

  • This place was wonderful especially if you want to get away from the city life. Very peaceful and the house it self is amazing.

  • Couldn't have asked for a better home and host than Linda and her fantastic off-grid itHouse. It comes highly recommended especially for those appreciative of amazing design and architecture. Can't wait for a return visit!

Charming and romantic,' Round' Cottage on the Santarella Estate in the Berkshires in Western Massachusetts. Formerly, the cottage was sculptor Henry Hudson Kitson's summer studio on the Santarella Estate. The two-story cottage has a charming bedroom with 35 foot high conical ceiling with canopied bed upstairs with views through massive, multi-paned "mill windows" to the trees and sky and out to the lily pond. The downstairs sitting room looks out on the babbling brook and lovely gardens.
Now open year-round! Charming, One Bedroom Cottage, former sculpting studio on the Santarella Estate in Tyringham, MA. Known as the "Silo Studio" Cottage. There is a bedroom with canopied queen bed upstairs and a sitting room with window bench-seat, coffee table, table and chairs, kitchenette area with wet bar with Micro/Fridge coffeemaker, toaster and bathroom with shower are downstairs. Fall asleep to sounds of the babbling brook and views to pond and forest from the large screened openings upstairs, like living in a "tree-house". Accommodates two only, fully furnished, all linens, towels included. There is Satellite DTV and Wireless Internet on site. The cottage is situated on four acres including lovely gardens, beautiful lily pond, running brooks and 2 acre woods. Absolutely unique, one-of-a-kind experience! Please Note, the cottage has traditionally been a three season rental from approximately March- November, however, due to much interest and demand, we have recently added a larger capacity pellet stove and made winterizing efforts and plan on keeping it open for guests interested in a winter experience in the cottage! Please keep in mind that access to our grounds may be limited with the accumulation of snow in winter months. During predicted extreme weather events, we will gladly work with guests to change reservations as we are always concerned for their comfort! Our lovely grounds are open to our guests. There are garden paths, babbling brook with stone bridges, loveliest of lily ponds, stone bench seating area with 'chiminea' and firewood for guest's use. There are two acres of woods with a loop trail as well. The town has an exceptionally beautiful Swimming Pond about 2 miles away which our guests may use. There are BBQs and picnic tables and it is often deserted. While we do have a pet friendly policy, prior approval and acceptance of our rules and policies is required before a pet may stay with you in our accommodations. There is also a $25.00 additional pet cleaning charge. The cottage is located on the Santarella Estate surrounded by gardens and storybook architecture. Santarella is located in the Tyringham Valley, tucked away 3.5 miles from Mass. I-90, a lovely and magical place where one feels like they have stepped back in time. This is definitely a place to 'get away from it all', enjoy quiet, rural surroundings close to the Appalachian Trail and Tyringham Cobble for hiking and many lovely ponds for swimming or kayaking. Vehicle is necessary. Grocery and other shopping at 3.5 miles.
Tyringham Valley was one of the original settlements in Western Massachusetts. It is mostly agricultural conserved land giving it a very rural, bucolic and idyllic character. The lovely 'Hop Brook' runs through the middle of the valley which is sparsely populated with mostly historic homes, making one feel like they have stepped back in time. An original, beautifully preserved Shaker settlement sits on top of the hillside opposite Santarella, overlooking it. At the far end of the valley, the gracious columns of the burned Ashintully mansion overlook the entire valley and are all that remain of the gilded-age estate which has beautiful preserved formal gardens, great to visit and hike. The Appalachian Trail is 2.25 miles from the cottage.
  • We had an enjoyable, cozy stay on a few cold winter days; the tiny house was comfortable and charming and by far one of the most unique places I have ever stayed.

    Maureen2016-12-27T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed at the silo studio over a weekend in April. The location was idyllic; surrounded by nature and a chattering stream that wound its way through the property. The silo home itself was out of a fairy tale! Inside, the home was well maintained and functional. The highlight, other than the fact that this home is fabulously unique from the outside, was the bedroom. Comfortable and homely, large windows to let in light, and the distinct, calming sound of the stream. Our hosts - Denise and Dennis - were very hospitable. Denise greeted us when we checked-in. She welcomed us into the warm home, heated by an efficient wood pellet stove and we immediately felt at ease. Dennis gave us a tour of the entire property on our last day and told us about the history of the place. They are both caring and attentive. We had our golden retriever with us, and while she wasn't allowed off-leash on the property, the Tyringham Cobble - a vast space with open fields and trails - was less than a 5 minute drive. Our dog loved it! Would definitely recommend this place to a couple looking to get away for a weekend in one of the most unique homes I have ever seen.

    Jihan2017-04-23T00:00:00Z
  • The silo studio was magical and the area is right out of a storybook. Denise is super helpful and knowledgeable and easy to get ahold of when needed. I would definitely recommend this place for a romantic getaway.

    Shawn2017-03-24T00:00:00Z
  • Denise was beyond inviting. Supplying a free bottle of wine and a free pitcher of beer every day we spent there. She was kind and personable and very informative. My only complaints are in little things; the place didn't seem to have been thoroughly cleaned in a bit based on the prevalence of bugs around light sources. Also a high pitched sonicator to keep bugs away was left on and made for very difficult sleeping our first night. However, Denise was such a good host it pains to me to say anything negative.

    Alexander2014-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • From the moment we arrived, we felt safe, welcomed, and had all the privacy we could ask for. Denise and Dennis gave us a great tour of the grounds, the Silo Cottage and the gardens surrounding the estate. This was such a unique and magical place to stay from the amazing attention to detail with the landscaping to the amenities in the cottage. I would recommend everyone consider staying here at least once in their life. Denise gave numerous facts and advice about where to go eat in the area and left printed recommendations in our cottage so we could look into all the area has to offer. Thank you for a great weekend!

    Gregory2016-05-09T00:00:00Z
  • Denise was an incredible host! We arrived a bit late to toe cottage and she had the wood pellet stove running and the electric heating pad on the bed which was so helpful as it was pretty cold out! She left us a really nice bottle of red wine and pointed us in the right direction to get another one the next evening. The cottage is gorgeous and its an incredible unique experience I highly recommend the Silo Studio. Denise also gave us a tour of all of her property and it would be great place for a large group to stay! I will be back again when the weather warms up!

    Brianna2015-04-27T00:00:00Z
  • Believe it or not, the photos do not do this place justice. We had never planned to spend a weekend in the Berkshires, but after perusing AirBnb one day, we stumbled upon the Silo Studio and had to make a plan. Denise and Dennis are the sweetest, easy to communicate with, and you can tell they truly love hosting guests. They also have an adorable cat who we are now obsessed with. Don't worry - if you don't like cats he won't bother you, but we love cats and couldn't get enough. The Silo is on the same property as a few other rentals that Denise and Dennis own as well as their own home. (Hidden by Airbnb) Santarella Gingerbread House and you'll see what I mean. It felt extremely private and secluded which was amazing. The property is insane. There is a lily pond, a babbling brook, beautiful gardens. It just feels so peaceful, and was the exact type of relaxing environment we wanted coming from NYC. The Silo Studio in and of itself was incredible. You feel like you're literally living in a fairytale. The first floor has a pellet stove which heats the whole studio and really sets the mood. Denise provided a bottle of champagne, coffee and some snacks which was so nice and thoughtful. The bathroom is beautifully done and the shower has awesome water pressure. Upstairs is where it's AT. The huge windows are amazing, there was classical music playing and a gorgeous canopy bed with beautiful bedding. When we woke up each morning it literally felt like we were in the trees. It was cold and raining our weekend so we slept with the windows closed, but I definitely recommend keeping them open if the weather permits. Cozy is an understatement, we loved it. Denise has a lot of great recommendations for things to do, restaurants, etc. We went into Lee, Lenox and Great Barrington. Fave places: Nudel (nicer dinner) Prairie Whale (for brunch) Starving Artist Cafe (casual - yummy crepes) SoCo creamery (yum ice cream) Allium (great cocktails and small plates) We were recommended Dream Away Lodge for dinner but the Yelp reviews looked rough so we skipped. Overall we had an amazing time and it will be a weekend we talk about and remember for a long time. Book it! You won't regret it. We will be back one day for sure.

Red cinder leads you through the dense jungle to your secluded bamboo treehouse. Nestled on top of stilts 15' up in the canopy of the local flora, ascend to your retreat via the trapdoor or begin your adventure in Volcano National Park 10 miles away.
Upon arrival, let the red cinder path be your yellow brick road as you are lead through the jungle to your personal paradise. At ground level you will encounter a hanging bed, suspended beneath the floor of your new living quarters. Stop and relax or continue up the staircase to the trapdoor. It is through this trapdoor that you are allowed access to the lanai amongst the canopy of trees. A beautiful wrap around lanai allows for a 360 degree view of the lush jungle, while two sliding glass doors grant access to the bedroom. Upon entering, you will notice that the generous windows and doors allow for natural sunlight to flood into the house, complementing the bamboo fixtures and vintage 1970s wallpaper that backs the bed. The white bed linens reflect the light giving a dreamy, cloud-like aura to the space. There is counter stocked with a local coffee and snacks nestled into a corner of the house and overlooked by the handcrafted porthole windows. Bamboo backed cubby holes and hangers furnish the wall behind you and create an elegant, minimalist closet space for you to store your personal items for the duration of your stay. Just past the closet is a sliding door that accesses one of the most fun areas of the house: the bathroom. The bathroom jalousie windows stretch from the floor to the ceiling and the horizontal glass plates open up, creating an indoor-outdoor effect. Naturally caught rainwater cascades from the large shower head above before disappearing into the floor boards below. You'll notice that the natural theme spills over into the bathroom with sustainable cork board backing the shower and air plants intermittently growing throughout. The toilet and hand-made rock sink in the corner make use of grey water eco-principles by allowing you to wash your hands with fresh water before it goes on to fill the bowl. One of the most fun aspects of this property is that it allows you the opportunity to experience true off-grid living without sacrificing any of the comforts of normal life. Natural lighting, solar power and rain water catchment are the three principles that have been integrated into this tree top design, making it almost like a living organism itself. The beauty of this high flying haven is in the details. I spent the better part of three months personally constructing the building as well as the accessories inside. My goal was to create a customized and secluded space for your occasion. The chandelier, hanging lights, port-hole windows, rock sink and platform bed were all DIY projects that I specifically created to enhance your experience. The bamboo pillars that 'support' the lanai and the moss carpet under the hanging bed were harvested from local areas on the Big Island. IMPORTANT CONSIDERATIONS BEFORE MAKING A RESERVATION Don't worry, the capital letters are just to emphasize importance. I'm not mad at you. But please read this entire section before making a reservation. As lush and inviting as the Dreamy Tropical Treehouse is, there are inevitable 'challenges' that come with staying in an off-grid treehouse in the Hawaiian jungle. My goal is give you an experience that combines adventure and luxury so I want to make sure that you are aware of the following things: 1. The treehouse is about 15-feet off the ground and is only accessible by the 'ladder-stairs'. 'Ladder-stairs' is just another way of saying 'very steep' stairs. There is a hand railing and none of my visitors have ever had a problem going up and down. There is a pulley system for hoisting up your bags. Only those who believe they are physically capable should book a stay. Just remember to go up and down facing them... like a ladder! 2. The running water comes from the rain falling on the roof and is not treated; therefore, the water is not potable. I will provide several bottles of drinking water. 3. The electricity you use is generated by sunlight and is stored in a battery. Once the battery runs out of power it has to recharge. This shouldn’t happen but just be mindful not to leave lights or power hungry items running for extended periods of time (No hairdryers). The windows allow for plenty of light during the day. 4. This is the rainy side of the Big Island so expect some showers! Realize that the pitter-patter on the roof is the rain's first stop on its journey to the water tanks and then to your shower. Also notice how warm it is. Don't think of rain as a trip ruiner but instead an asset to be enjoyed! 5. There are bugs but this isn't the Amazon. For such a tropical climate you will be surprised at how few bugs there are. The main things you will see are moths, fruit flies (due to fruit falling off of the trees) and mosquitoes. Bug repellent is provided but it never hurts to bring your own. They really don't get that bad but their presence increases after a hard rain and during the twilight hours. Luckily, the hanging bed has mosquito netting that drapes down to encompass it. 6. Noises. Living off-grid in the jungle also brings about its own set of noises. The water pump and solar inverter will make soft noises throughout the day as they are used. The falling fruit from the vivie trees can also be alarming if you don't know what it is, and at night you are going to be serenaded by the sweet chirping of coqui frogs. Rustling branches, grunts and squeals typically means that the cute family of wild pigs is nearby. They are harmless and will runoff as soon as they sense your presence. Quietly grab the binoculars and, if you are lucky, may catch a glimpse of them! All of these aspects are what makes this place so unique and, with the right mindset, only enhance your overall experience. Guests have free range to fully utilize every aspect of the house. The hanging bed, wrap-around porch, indoor-outdoor shower and closet are at your full disposal. I have recently installed a kitchenette that has a sink, cooler for storing food/drinks, and a coffee maker (also capable of heating up water). Any and all goodies stocked in the house are there for your enjoyment. Here is a more comprehensive list of amenities and features that will be available to you: •Indoor/Outdoor Shower •Toilet with Overlaid Sink •Organic Shampoo/Conditioner •Towels •Ample Parking •Tiki Torch ‘Flashlights’ •Hanging Bed •Table and Chairs for Lanai •Binoculars •Several Books •Outlets (3-prong and USB) •Kitchen Sink •Coffee Maker •Clean Linens •Gramophone Music Player for iPhones •Cooler for Food/Drink •Card Game Guest interaction can be tailored to your needs. My goal is to make sure your stay is unforgettable so you can always contact me via phone or email. Because I do not live on the island year round, a local neighbor can assist you if you have any problems that need tending to. Upon your arrival I can arrange to have someone greet you and show you the property or simply stow away the key for your convenience. The choice, of course, is yours. Even though I am not on site, I can always be reached. Feel free to call/text/email me at any time during your stay should the unlikely event that a problem arises. I will immediately contact the proper authority to have the problem remedied. The treehouse is located at the end of a neighborhood street making it very private. It is set about 50 yards off the street behind a windy, jungle path further adding to your privacy. There are only about five full time neighbors scattered throughout the neighborhood so don't expect to see a lot of people. The treehouse is about 20 miles from Hilo, 23 miles from Pahoa, 12 miles from Keaau and 8 miles from Volcano. Volcano is the closest place for laundry, good restaurants and groceries, though you will pay a little more for the groceries than in Hilo or Keaau. I recommend you stop on your way in from Hilo. When you book I will include a guidebook that has the locations, hours and prices of local restaurants and grocery stores. There is quick access to highway 11 and it is 10 miles from Volcanoes National Park. Numerous opportunities for sightseeing and adventures are within a 40 minute drive of this treehouse paradise and they will be included in my guest guidebook as well. This is the ultimate spot for couples seeking romantic seclusion in the middle of a tropical jungle or individuals who want to escape the world. Unless you feel like hitchhiking, you will definitely need a rental car to comfortably explore the surrounding areas and access the treehouse. While nothing is 'far' on the big island, everything is just a bit out of reach by foot... except of course for those lovely, yet dense, jungle strolls. Guests have free range to fully utilize every aspect of the house. The hanging bed, wrap-around porch, indoor-outdoor shower and closet are at your full disposal. • Perfect way to spend our last few nights after our 6 week holiday! Nice to be taken away from technology and get in touch with nature. beautifully designed with lots of thoughtful touches such a chocolate brownies and books to read etc. Very comfortable bed! Will be recommending the tree house to anyone visiting the big Island!

  • The listing was just as described and more. Fantastic place to stay on BI.

  • The treehouse is absolutely as described , picturesque and beautifully decorated. The small touches at every turn really made us feel pampered, even in a treehouse in the wild! I loved waking up and drinking coffee in one of the robes she provided, as the sun came up on the chirping Forest around you. You definitely need a jeep for the road there, but I'm realizing that about most of the island back roads anyways. A great place to stay if you plan on doing hikes in the nearby volcano national park as we did. Amazing accommodations, and communication, highly recommend!

  • Kristie was very responsive to anything we needed. Our first night there we had to switch propane tanks and the next morning Kristie messaged us to check in on us. She knew the rainfall was less than normal and advised she would send her handyman out to fill the water and propane tank. This was done in the same afternoon so we were good to go for the remaining week. The shower is tricky to operate and that is my only issue. She did give instructions on how to use it, however, I couldn't get the hang of it. The guidebook she left with all the places to see and eat at was very useful as well. We visited most of the places she had listed as well as some of our own. Kristie was very accommodating!

  • The Treehouse was a very unique and relaxing experience. The only reason we didn't give it a full 5 stars was I thought the price was a little steep for what you get. But still worth checking out if you want a unique stay conveniently close to Kilauea. Thanks again!

  • What an amazing spot to spend the night! At the end of a gravel road, nestled in the jungle not far from Volcano Park, it was an incredible experience spending a day up amongst the trees. A small yet brilliantly laid out and beautifully designed house. We especially enjoyed the pulley to bring our luggage up. A very peaceful retreat! And my first experience off the grid. Something I'm sure to do again now.

  • Thank you Kristie, I could not have asked for a better experience on the Big Island. The dreamy tropical treehouse is truly unique and the natural beauty of the surrounding area was exactly what I hoped for.I definitely plan on visiting again soon and will recommend it to friends in the future. *This cabin was featured in the New York Times in January, 2017. * A magical homesteader cabin embedded in 5 acres of unfenced Joshua Tree desert wilderness, 12 minutes from downtown Joshua Tree. Experience peace, quiet, wildlife and STARS—on the grid but off the pavement.
If this cabin is booked on your dates, check out our other two cabins nearby ("Homestead Camp Cabin in Joshua Tree" and "Midcentury Prefab Homesteader Cabin") *** If you would like to use our cabin as a shooting location please get in touch to discuss our rates, otherwise we do not allow commercial or professional shooting of any kind (photo, video, film) during your stay. Thank you in advance! *** The restored cabin, which has been featured in the New York Times 'T' travel magazine, Wilder Quarterly, The Weekender and the book 'Jackrabbit Homestead,' was constructed in 1955 and still has its original green paint. Joshua Tree National Park is a 15 minute drive from the cabin. The Integratron and Giant Rock are also 15 minutes away. The cabin is less than two miles from artist Noah Purifoy's famous sculpture garden site. Two miles in the other direction is Dhamma Dena, teacher Ruth Denison's Vipassana Buddhist center. The always swinging Pappy & Harriet's BBQ and music roadhouse in beautiful Pioneertown is a 30-minute drive. The Lou Harrison House, which hosts occasional devotional, folk and avant garde music events in an intimate setting is less than 10 minutes away. We will be happy to give you directions to each of these unique places (and many others) that we frequent ourselves. The cabin sits on 5 acres, and feels remote, but it's just 12 minutes from downtown Joshua Tree. You will travel a few miles on a secure, hard dirt road to get here. Enjoy the spectacular panoramic sunset and sunrise—as well as a blanket of stars. In the wintertime, you can build a fire too. Sleep comfortably in a queen-sized bed. The renovated interior has a cookware-outfitted kitchen and dining area. There is an outhouse with a dry toilet and roofless shower a few yards from the cabin. Wireless internet is available if you require a connection to the digital world. The cabin is equipped with air conditioning. The cabin is located next to BLM land and a wildlife corridor, which means you will witness these wild animals in their native habitat. The cottontail rabbits, cactus wrens, lizards, desert tortoises, jackrabbits, coyotes, owls and roadrunners (and more!) that make the desert their home make a visit to this serene cabin all the more special. Guests may have freshly prepared organic juices made by local juice cleanse guru Angela de la Agua delivered to the cabin. A menu/pricelist is available upon request. Please note that we have a TW0-NIGHT MINIMUM stay, and a THREE-NIGHT MINIMUM FOR HOLIDAY WEEKENDS. This requirement allows us to keep our rates low, so that the greatest number of folks get a chance to experience being here in the unfenced desert, under the Milky Way. We donate 2.5% of our proceeds to the Mojave Desert Land Trust, an excellent local non-profit organization devoted to protecting the Mojave Desert ecosystem and its scenic and cultural resource values.
  • We had an amazing trip and very much enjoyed our stay. The cabin was beautiful and amazingly quiet and peaceful. Jay was attentive to our needs and was a great host.

  • The cabin was in an amazing location, isolated with neighbors few and far in between and the surrounding area was a great place to explore. The cabin was clean and well-maintained and everything needed was there. Would definitely stay again if ever went to Joshua tree again and Jay was a great host as well!

    Mani2012-10-01T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed the cabin. A simple place with nice attention to details. We most enjoyed sitting on the porch in the morning sun and watching the desert wildlife. Jackrabbit, quail, cactus wren, antelope ground squirrels among others. Definitely feels isolated, but surprisingly just a few minutes from town if needed.

    Sean2013-05-05T00:00:00Z
  • It was a superb experience to enjoy the desert here. Amazing sky the night ! The place is very well thinked, very interesting approach !

    Marlene2013-09-14T00:00:00Z
  • Jay was very friendly and the cabin was exactly as pictured. It was very hot during our stay, but we still had a wonderful, unique experience. The AC made the heat bearable and the night sky was absolutely amazing!

  • Two nights at Stephanie & Jay's cabin was like one continuous dreamy day. The furniture in the cabin felt well placed and thoughtful, while the colors- white, blue, grey- seemed to flow through the many windows into the color palette of the desert. The room is kept cool with a swamp cooler, which seemed to balance the dry desert climate. We slept with blankets in perfect cool. The outside shower was incredible at night, enclosed with an open roof and a billion stars. Also has hot water. The outhouse too was cleaner than most indoor bathrooms...appropriate for even the most city guests. Sleeping in the comfortable bed with sweeping views of mountains was a wondrous display of distant lightning storms, the late arrival of the moon, and constellations. Getting to Joshua Tree National Park was easy, took about 20 min. Everything was just lovely- conversation with Jay, the quiet of nature, lizards and long eared rabbits and do e nests. I left with a newfound respect for fence- less living, and for using everything for something else- nothing went to waste. I'll never forget this sweet experience. Thanks, Stephanie & Jay!

  • we were 3 for 2 nights. Jay was very welcoming and showed us around. I enjoyed the morning sunrise and evening sunsets the best. sitting on the pretty porch enjoying the beautiful calm desert. we loved the location far but close to all restaurants, shops and national park. I liked the simple decor. many windows give a great light inside. there is everything you need. i was not crazy about walking to the toilet at night but beside that it was a wonderful experience (off the grid). thank you to Jay and Stephanie for making an inspiring place available :)

  • Home is cozy, photos really make the home appear bigger. Living room and dinning table are a little crowded. Home needed some spring cleaning and TLC.

  • Awesome place. Very cozy. About a 20 minute drive to most places in south Tahoe.

  • Thank you R&D. Your house is an absolutely dream cabin! So beautiful! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Ryan & Darnie's Lake Tahoe Chalet is an inviting and warm home. It's the little touches like the space heaters in the rooms and the little soaps that really show they care. Thanks again for a wonderful place to stay in a wonderful place to vacation!

  • What a great place to stay. They were super responsive the few times I reached out with questions. The house is clearly set up in such a way that they want the people that stay there to have a wonderful time. Beautiful views just around the corner. The house is on a nice quiet road.

    Conor2016-04-07T00:00:00Z
  • Everything was great! House was lovely. Ryan was very responsive and accommodating. Thank you!

    Annie2014-05-19T00:00:00Z
  • The Lake Tahoe Chalet was perfect for us, two older active ladies looking to get away for a few days, staying in a safe location convenient to the Lake, hiking, birding, exploring the area, searching for Fall colors (Hope Valley nearby.) The home is very comfortable, with a well-equipped kitchen; we loved having 2 full bathrooms; beds were comfortable; nothing that we couldn't figure out or needed that wasn't supplied. We would happily stay here again.

    Carolyn2016-10-16T00:00:00Z
  • Ryan and Darnie were fantastic hosts. They were very responsive and accommodating. Their home is gorgeous and right across from stunning views of beautiful snowy mountains. It was certainly the perfect place to call home-base during our trip up to South Lake Tahoe!

  • The experience at DnA's pool house was fantastic. The place is exactly as the pictures show, and the hosts are exceptionally welcoming and responsive. Upon arrival, there were several refreshments available and a helpful sheet of information that included how to operate various features (such as the spa/hot tub!). They also provided suggestions for local attractions and places to eat which weren't necessarily on our initial itinerary but were excellent recommendations. We would definitely stay with DnA again!

    Adam2015-07-20T00:00:00Z
  • Place was great! View was beautiful and the hosts were great. Not to far from anything you will want to do. Great to be able to do laundry and felt very safe. If I ever need a place to stay in Cali, this will be the spot. You will not regret purchasing this place.

  • This was a wonderful experience! Alex was there to greet us and show us the ropes. If we had a need the response was immediate and yet we never felt smothered. The accommodations were beautiful as was the pool and views. Very nicely located and yet a sense of privacy. We will definitely turn to DnA whenever we need accommodations in LA!

  • An enjoyable place to spend time in Los Angeles. Clean and comfortable. DnA where always helpful when we need information or anything else. We would come back.

  • It's not very often that an airbnb is even better than the photographs, but this place is! The pool house was beautifully kept, private, had amazing views, is very quiet and relaxing, and Dennis and Alex couldn't have been more friendly or helpful. Things were very clean and my husband and I enjoyed using the spa as well. Overall a great place and we would definitely stay here again!

  • Private Pool House with Amazing Views is a perfect way to describe this setting! The pool house was clean, a good size for a travelling couple, quiet, and peaceful. The private patio was perfect for some alone time or for dinner outside. Access from the freeway is easy, and the location is perfect for exploring downtown LA, Hollywood, Burbank, Glendale, Pasadena, Los Feliz, Griffith Park, and other east side locations. Our hosts were great to visit with, but also gave us plenty of privacy for coming and going. We loved our stay and hope to return soon!

  • A home away from home This is my first-time experience with airbnb and from Day One, it has been great. Brenda is such a good host. She is thoughtful, warm, kind, and very easy going. I really appreciate her restaurant tips and as a result, I had some great food : ) Her apartment is beautiful and artistic, which reflects her taste. Her two kitties are adorable and Boo is very friendly. The location is unbeatable - a quiet neighborhood in the heart of Castro. All in all, I really enjoyed staying with Brenda and I will definitely go back when I visit San Francisco again.

    Justin2011-05-17T00:00:00Z
  • I felt immediately 100% comfortable in the house, and Brenda is very open, kind and welcoming. It's a small room with a little bed, but I was at ease using the kitchen, lounge, etc, and Brenda is good company :)

    Ryan2013-07-08T00:00:00Z
  • Brenda made me feel so welcome to her beautiful home. She offer me a glass of water first thing which was so needed during an unseasonably hot day. The room and bed was comfortable and close to public transportation. Brenda was also very generous in offering to drive me to my car rental of my final morning. i would recommend staying at her place.

    Debbie2015-08-16T00:00:00Z
  • I LOVED staying with Brenda. I was there three weeks for a yoga course and I felt totally at home. The apartment is gorgeous and spacious, so while the room is compact (but more than adequate for one), the roomy lounge, kitchen and dining area are wonderful. In a great location, minutes walk to Castro or Mission and in a stones throw of amazing bars and restaurants. Brenda is friendly, helpful and great company. Her pets are adorable too! Highly recommend staying here, I will next time I'm back in SF!

    Keren2012-07-31T00:00:00Z
  • Brenda is a very friendly, accommodating host. The room had everything I needed, was clean and I could come and go as I pleased. Very good location close to the metro lines and close to downtown. A great place to stay.

    Brian2015-04-04T00:00:00Z
  • Brendas place is the best place to stay in San Francisco! Just a block away in either direction is all you want in San Francisco and more, but the place is still in a really quiet street. Brenda is a great host and a good friend, and has a lot of suggestions on where to go and what´s what. Super!

    Josefin2010-01-18T00:00:00Z
  • I loved staying at Brenda's place! The location is awesome, being 3 MUNI stops to Powell (Union Square); the house is very well-decorated; the bedroom is cozy and the bed is super comfortable! Towels were provided and the entire place was nice and clean. Her pets were nice to have around too. Overall, you get a comfy, homey place to stay but you have privacy when you want it. My best Airbnb experience to date!

    Kimberly2011-05-20T00:00:00Z
  • Brenda is super fun, accommodating and easy to get along with and I loved her place. It's very conveniently located, close to the muni and the house itself is gorgeously decorated and very comfy. Would definitely recommend it!

  • Gayle and Peter were phenomenal and awesome hosts. My boyfriend and I stayed at the Pond House as a mini vacation get away right before the weather got cold. The Pond House has the comfort of your home with being right in the middle of the woods. It was perfect. We went hiking and fishing at Chapel falls (about 10 minutes away) and at Bear Swamp (maybe 5 minutes away). The Pond House was beautiful and super clean. Gayle was so understanding, we got stuck in traffic on our way up from NY. We stayed in contact with her and she was great. Get there before dark because you want to take it all in. It was a little chilly at night because it was the last weekend of September but we were cozy and warm underneath the blankets that Gayle provided us. We felt so refreshed and relaxed just from two nights there, we would love to go back!

    Zoey2015-09-27T00:00:00Z
  • We are repeat visitors of the pond house, we love it so much! It's truly magical.

    Laurence2017-07-24T00:00:00Z
  • The Pondhouse was my girlfriend and I's first experience using Airbnb, and it went above and beyond what we imagined! We were looking for someplace unique and memorable to spend our anniversary, and Gayle was quick to respond and was wonderfully accommodating. Just as the name suggests, the Pondhouse truly felt like a country escape. Coming up the driveway of the property, we were greeted by Charlie (the friendliest dog... ever!), and Gayle gave us a tour of the Pondhouse and the rest of the property. Luckily we packed some food to bring with us, because once we got there we didn't want to leave! The Pondhouse itself was even more stunning in person than it was in the pictures, and it felt nice and secluded so you really got the sense that you had your own space to enjoy in privacy. We got a fire going with the wood that was provided, where we grilled some food as the sun went down. The Pondhouse was stocked with all of the essentials that you would need for the night, and all of the furniture was super comfortable! We couldn't believe how relaxing the Pondhouse was, we felt like we were in another world. As sad as we were to have to leave, we were already planning when we would make it back! It was the perfect couple's getaway for a romantic retreat, but it could also be a great place to stay with others who share a passion for nature and camping, but would like to do it in a unique way! It feels like we haven't been able to stop talking about it since we came back, so we'll certainly have to make a trip back sometime in the near future! The Pondhouse is a place that we'll never forget, and it was the perfect place that made our anniversary even more of a day to remember. We highly recommend visiting the Pondhouse, its the kind of place that makes Airbnb such a great resource, to find hidden gems like this!

  • You couldn't ask for more congenial and attentive hosts. The pond house is an imaginative blend of luxury and rustic simplicity. Thanks to all of the wildflowers growing around the pond, our visit was especially beautiful. The reality is every bit as good as the pictures suggest. I hope to return.

    Lexie2015-06-25T00:00:00Z
  • The Pond house was even more peaceful than the photos! I cant wait to book again in the fall!

    Rayelle2016-07-27T00:00:00Z
  • I can't imagine a more magical place to stay than Gayle and Peter's Pondhouse. I will long remember the chorus of frogs and the thousands of fireflies, the owls hooting, and the deep and restful sleep in the luxuriously comfortable bed. I've traveled the world and hospitality doesn't get better than this. Thank you, G&P&C.

    Kate2014-06-29T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely time. Peter was extremely accommodating and friendly. Everything was clean and comfortable. We had a great weekend of relaxing, beer by the camp fire and hiking. We would stay again without question. A great break from the city.

    Liam2017-04-30T00:00:00Z
  • What an amazing escape from reality. The pond house exceeded our expectations by a long shot. Gayle and Peter couldn't have been better hosts but the real rockstar of our stay was Charlie, a truly amazing and unique dog who really made it hard for us to leave. Would definitely stay again.

Q: How can I see all of your boats for rent? A: Click on our Airbnb profile (the round photo) & scroll all the way to the bottom below the aggregated reviews (on Mobile) or look to the left (on Desktop). You’ll see all of our listings - or check them out by clicking the link below: Listing Page: https://www.airbnb.com/users/1918595/listings Q: 1 Night Reservations? A: You can instant book a 1 night rental if it’s the same day as your reservation OR if you see on our calendar that your date fills a 1 night gap. We kindly ask do not instant book for 1 night reservations if your desired date doesn’t fit that criteria - especially on the weekend. We handle 1 night reservations on a case-by-case basis depending on availability but can almost always make it work. We will respond to an inquiry within minutes most times, most of the time immediately. Q: Is it comfortable? A: VERY! Our boats are designed with live-aboard / stay-aboard in mind with all the creature comforts of home. Fully stocked kitchens, premium furnishings, updated HVAC, TV, Keurig coffee makers… etc. Q: Any restaurants close by? A: TONS! Some of Charleston’s best are within a mile of the marina. Q: How to book: A: If you don’t have any questions after reading over the FAQ below then simple instant book. If you send an inquiry we’ll respond promptly, if not immediately. Q: Why is the price so different for my dates? A: Airbnb automatically sets our prices based on demand & seasonality. If you don’t search with exact dates Airbnb shows the lowest price throughout the season. Prices range from $99 per night for weekday day-of bookings in January all the way to $499 per night for weekends during peak season summer and everywhere in-between. Q: Bathroom… explain! A: The boat is equipped with an apartment sized (12 gallon) water heater ensuring you get hot water throughout the boat. You'll always have enough hot water to enjoy a 10 - 15 minute shower. The boat has a full sized marine toilet that is easy to use as long as you follow our simple instructions. Q: Heat? Air Conditioning? A: Our boats are equipped with BOTH ample Heat & Air Conditioning. No matter the time of year you can be assured that you will be staying in a climate controlled & comfortable environment. Q: Can we take the boats out & drive them? A: No. We don’t carry any insurance for bareboat charters but we do offer captained Charters on specific boats which are really fun! Charters include sightseeing in Downtown harbor, sunset cruises, full hay & ½ day cruises, special moments like engagements, or anything else you can think of. All charter requests are handled via inquiry & paid through Airbnb as part of your stay. Q: Can I check-in earlier than 4 or Checkout later than 10? A: We will do our best. Most days there’s someone checking in the same day there’s a checkout but we try & go above and beyond if this is requested. Q: Can we fish from the dock or boats? A: Absolutely! We ask that you fish either from the side or front of the vessel & stay clear of the props so your line doesn’t get prop/shaft wrapped. Fishing from the dock is also allowed as long as you mind the props of the vessels. You can easily get a fishing license from the DNR online. We operate on the honor system & don’t check for licenses but ask that you support the local DNR & pay the small fee to make it legal. We don’t supply fishing equipment & keep in mind there are no tackle shops in Downtown Charleston. Shrimp from the local Q: What to expect that's different than a hotel? A: It's a boat, it is a unique FUN experience. There may be noises and smells that you'd expect from a boat. Pumps, motors, ocean water, etc. Every boat is broken the day it hits the water, especially salt water. We take great care of our fleet but we expect guests to tell us if anything isn’t working properly & we will PROMPTLY respond & repair. Q: Waves? A: The marina has a sea wall which dilutes any waves. We are also lucky enough to be tucked behind Drum Island at the base of the Ravenel Bridge. which dilutes almost all the waves from the harbor. There is still a small amount of wave action and you'll feel a slight rock from time-to-time, mostly from boats passing by who don’t respect the no wake zone (feel free to yell at them & shake your first while doing so). If there's a bad storm or the wave action gets to a point that your stay is no longer enjoyable, we will do our best (no guarantees) to work out alternative accommodations for you as we have multiple condos Downtown for landlubbers. Your comfort is our top priority. 99% of the time the marina is almost totally flat and calm. We also keep dramamine on the dock incase anyone experiences sea sickness. Q: Will you reduce your price? A: No(ISH)... Maybe, but unlikely. Don’t expect a price reduction unless it’s the slow season & you’re messaging about days within 1-4 days of check-in or you’re looking for a long-term stay in the off season (see next “Q”). If you message us with a booking that somewhat fits the criteria above & tell us a budget we can try & work with you on one of our 6 boats. “Will you reduce the price of a weekend booking a month away” will always be a “no”. Q: Do you do long-term or monthly rentals? A: We have done long term rentals in the past. From March 1 - October 30 the boats are rented at a 90% occupancy rate so the monthly rate is only slightly reduced compared to the daily rate (around 20%). From November through February we’re much more flexible depending on length of stay & which vessel you’re interested in. It helps us to know your budget and we can tell you if we have anything that could work. Q: Smoking? A: On the outside only & please be responsible. Kindly don’t light the boat on fire. Q: Do you allow pets? A: You bet! We ask that dogs not be puppies, don’t scratch at doors, and don’t bark incessantly while you’re away. The boats are close together & a non-stop barking dog isn’t appreciated. We DEEP clean the boats after pets stay aboard due to future guests’ possible allergies so a $75 pet fee is applied for those who travel with pets. If you have a service dog & try to circumvent the pet fee be prepared to present FULL documentation. Q: Can we hold events or parties? A: No. This is a place to relax. We ask that there be no events or parties on the boats so the other guests can enjoy their stay. Q: You charge extra for more than 2 adults, do my kids count? A: Any child over the age of 13 is considered an adult & needs to be represented in the booking inquiry as an additional guest. Q: Is the marina safe? A: VERY. We have 24/7 surveillance & in the 3 years we’ve been here we’ve never had any sort of issue. We share an entrance with the port authority which has a 24/7 guarded gate. You turn into the marina before the guarded gate but it scares off any would-be pests. The parking lot & dock is well lit & the marina is right off East Bay which is one of the main roads in Downtown Charleston. All boats lock from inside & you can padlock the door when you leave if you wish to lock up your belongings. The marina is only us & we’re here daily looking over the fleet. Q: Handicap accessible? A: No. You'll need to get on the boat which requires a 1-2' step and there are steps on the boat. The deck stairs are steep and you'll need to be sure footed. Q: Parking? A: Yes, you can park your car. Since it’s a small private marina the walk to the parking lot from the boat is only roughly 50-70 yards. Q: Can I trailer my small boat & side-tie it to the boat I rented? A: You can bring your boat but it must be arranged with the marina & there’s nowhere to park a trailer. There’s also nowhere close by to slip the boat so do your research on boat landings. The marina will charge you small fee (roughly $40 - $60 nightly) to wet-slip the boat. Q: Space & Comfort? A: You'll find the layout of the boat extremely spacious and comfortable. The bed is a Queen (ish) size. Queen with slight modifications to fit the space. The shower is tall and comfortable for anyone 6’4” & under. Q: I have a non-profit, will you donate a free stay to my gala? A: I’m sure your cause is worthy, but we get this request far too often so we must decline. Q: I’m a blogger / photographer / ninja trainer… will you barter? A: No. Please don’t ask. We don’t pay our slip rent with your blog posts. Q: Will you partner with my local company or buy my advertising? A: We get penalized through Airbnb if we don’t respond to all inquiries which means we must respond to your spam. You won’t like our message so don’t send it. Q: Will this be the best vacation I’ve ever had and should I book now? A: Without a doubt.
Extremely safe and private marina in downtown Charleston. The entrance to the marina is shared with the Port Authority which has a 24/7 guard. There is a train which blocks the road to the marina leading into the port authority but it only comes 1-2X per day. Sometimes it can block the roadway for up to 20 minutes but that is infrequent.
  • We loved spending a night on the houseboat! It was clean, comfortable and so charming. The bikes were an added bonus! Recommended for anyone spending time in Charleston.

  • This boat was the most picture perfect weekend vacation we could have expected. Very clean, all the amenities we needed. Uber was only a $5 ride to downtown. Loved sitting outside and enjoying the sun. We had packed glasses, cork screw etc and really didn't need to. The bed is very comfortable and the ac works great. We were first time aribnb'ers and couldn't have asked for a more unique better experience. Will definitely look to stay here again!!

    Stacy2016-03-27T00:00:00Z
  • The stay was comfortable and the boat was as described, however, the check in instructions that were sent to us were outdated, so that we had to contact the host late at night in order to access the boat.

    Tal2016-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • The houseboat was AMAZING! What a perfect way to stay in Charleston, so much more memorable than a hotel. It was bigger than we expected, and comfortable for someone who had never slept on a boat before! Had everything we needed, even bikes available which we took advantage of one day! Very happy I chose to stay in Chuck's boat!

    Jessica2016-03-25T00:00:00Z
  • WE LOVED OUR STAY. This boat is not just a boat. it's an adorable little cottage on the water! :) We loved the area, the resort was great. Even under construction! We used the free shuttle to get into town and used the free bikes to ride to shem creek for the day. The beds were so comfortable. Everything we needed! We were nervous about the rocking of the boat during a bad storm one night, but it wasn't bad at all. Would definitely stay here again!

    Shea2015-04-26T00:00:00Z
  • Justin was an excellent host and if you are looking for adventure; this is it! Beautiful views, privacy, close to downtown shops and get all the exercise you want on the bridge nearby.

  • Definitely a great spot and a wonderful long weekend. For us the weather was such that we couldn't spend time on the deck, but the space heaters made for cozy spaces below.

    Joseph2015-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • The houseboat was absolutely perfect for what we wanted. The marina is nice and private but still so very close to all the fun stuff downtown. The area was very peaceful and it was a joy to sit on the deck and soak in the afternoon sunshine. The bikes that were available for us to use were a great bonus. We were downtown in less than 10 minutes and didn't have to worry about parking which was a huge bonus. The pictures do a good job of capturing what the boat looks like. The whole place is super adorable and has pretty much all of the amenities you would need. There is a very gentle rocking at times but that just made it easier to go to sleep! Justin was a great host. Knowing we would arrive after dark, he left the lights on for us. We did run into an issue with the AC after a few days (the breaker had tripped during the storm while we were away) but Justin was quick to respond and we had our cool air back in no time. The charm of the place made it so much more memorable than any hotel room. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again on another trip.

  • What an amazing experience! After a breath taking drive to the location we pulled in to be greeted by two beautiful old dogs and a chicken coop! The yurt was awesome- clean and spacious and exactly like the pictures make it out to be. We spent the afternoon at El Matador Beach and dined at Neptunes Net. Both fantastic. Bibi gave us great recommendations for hikes in the morning that were a quick and easy drive from the yurt. In the morning we enjoyed a delicious breakfast with another family- money and time well spent. Highly recommend and can't wait to return!

  • We had such a wonderful time at the yurt with Bibi and Bruce. They were both so good to us. Bibi made the most delicious meals both for dinner and breakfast - all organic and filled with flavor! The truffle oil potatoes were my favorite - absolutely delicious. They also gave us wonderful recommendations both for LA and our careers. We really really enjoyed them, and our time at their place. The yurt was beautiful - such a unique design and immaculate! It was also so peaceful. We had such a great time and only wish we could have stayed longer!

    Tucker2014-07-16T00:00:00Z
  • We were greeted by Bruce who gave us brilliant advice on where to eat out and helped us plan our 'beach day' before travelling north up the coast. The yurt is in a beautiful setting, with a spectacular drive to it up the canyon. The yurt is well equipped, but we felt the bathroom could have been cleaner.

    Fiona2014-09-05T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay was great, and Bibi was a great host. Few details that weren't mentioned until we arrived, but was a non-issue: 1. Wi-fi was turned off after 11pm, turned back on in the morning 2. MA rated shows and Fox News were blocked on the TV & they didn't have the password to unlock (couldn't watch Robot Chicken at night on Cartoon Network) Other than the that, our stay was perfect. The yurt and Bibi's ranch were exactly as pictured/described. Thanks Bibi! Would definitely recommend and stay again.

  • This was our first time staying at a yurt.We had a wonderful two night stay. A perfect little escape/mini honeymoon. Bibi responded quickly to my inquiries and worked around our schedule :)

    Princess2014-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • We never heard from the host other than to confirm our booking which was highly disappointing after reading the reviews.

    Katie2016-10-05T00:00:00Z
  • This was a fantastic staycation! The yurt was perfect for my son and me. We took full advantage of the wonderful pool and view and enjoyed the serenity all around us. Bibi's cooking is phenomenal, and her family's company is welcoming and engaging. We had a wonderful evening with them, and I look forward to making this an annual - if not more often - event! There are more hikes to be hiked and meals to be eaten! What wonderful things to look forward to! Thank you, Bibi!!!

  • My wife and I love to stay at new and unique places. Places that are a bit off the beaten path or a bit out of the ordinary from the typical hotel. Call it a way to add a bit more adventure in an already adventurous trip. Greeted by Karen, we were led into this quaint open air cottage that sat on a beautiful and quiet property within seeing distance of Kealakekua Bay. The first night it rained heavily most of the night. We stayed warm and dry listening to the rain fall on the metal roof. The next night, I fed one of the many geckos that help with the mosquitoes and moths. We named him Reynaldo. :D The next morning, as we were getting ready to leave, we counted probably twenty geckos that came out to say goodbye, including three little babies! It was the cherry on top of a wonderful stay, in a beautiful place. One word of caution, if you don't like the outdoors or sleeping among nature, this is not for you. Otherwise- it is a perfect little gem all the way down to the outdoor shower!

    Chris2012-04-28T00:00:00Z
  • Karen is a wondeful host, and a very sweet woman. The location is amazing, walking distance to the bay and beach with unparalled snorkling. We are both outdoorsy camping types, and we knew that it was an open air cottage, but the mosquitos, and mongoose were a bit more than we bargined for. For the price of the rental we didn't want to feel like we were camping minus our tent. The bed is comfortable and we were grateful for the netting. However we weren't fully able to enjoy the rest of the space, inside or the gazebo because of the mosquitos. Our thoughts are that a substantial yard trim would help limit the bugs and critters without loosing any of the charm!

    Sara And Sam2014-06-23T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage is the perfect combination of rustic and luxurious, funky and tasteful. Karen and Ron are delightful, generous hosts, full of helpful tips about the island. They were quick to offer us anything we might need, from snorkeling equipment to coffee, and they always respected our privacy. The bay is just steps away from the cottage, and heavenly. We can't wait to return.

  • My wife and I made our reservation months and months ago, planning to "get away from it all" over the Christmas holiday. Being from Seattle, we were looking forward to some sunshine during what is typically a very cold December. It was wonderful to spend several days under the Kona sunshine! The Bali Cottage, while rustic was just as pictured. It was such a treat to shower and cook meals out of doors. It was like camping but with a real bed! I'm a mosquito magnet and even with repellent on I was definitely under attack but it was all part of the experience. The netting helped at night, however the creaking of the roof against the tree (which is literally IN the cottage) kept me awake most nights. When the wind blows, it definitely sounds like you're on a sailboat (but without the seasickness). Light sleepers: bring earplugs or use ear buds. I used mine along with a meditation app and it helped a lot. Karen and Ron weren't around much as they were with family up the coast (it was Christmas, after all!) but we weren't in need of anything. We were shown where the market was, given tips on where to get a great massage and where to eat. We never lacked anything. There was even a lovely decorated and lit Christmas tree on the porch for us to enjoy every evening! The cat, Purry, was very sweet and friendly and a welcome visitor. We even had our first snorkeling experience and didn't have to rent gear or boogie boards as they had extra stuff there for our use! (Bring your own tropical water shoes, though; you'll need 'em for exploring the beaches!) We really enjoyed our stay at the Bali Cottage! We knew we were in for a rustic experience and it didn't disappoint. If you require maid service with fresh towels and sheets every day, you might want to stay at one of the resorts. If you're down for a real "local" experience complete with neighborhood dogs, a braying donkey and a sweet little gecko, stay at the cottage. The Big Island really came to life for us and we credit it to the fact that we were in Kealakekua Bay living like the locals. We had a simply awesome time.

    Sevana2014-12-27T00:00:00Z
  • Karen is a wonderful host She is very generous with her time ,information and toys bikes. paddle board and kayaks The Bali cottage was perfect for us since we had Had 3 weeks biking in Europe and just needed Rand R cooking reading and peace The bay is a treasure with snorkelling and Swimming with dolphins a highlight Thank you Karen

    Lynda2014-06-20T00:00:00Z
  • We arrived in the late afternoon and were met by Karen who is very friendly and welcoming. We enjoyed asn informative tour of the cottage. She then took us on a short walk to the Kahalakekua Bay. You can see the bay from their property. There's a small, very well maintained park and a small sandy beach to enter the bay. We stayed for 4 nights enjoyed ourselves. These are our observations and comments: 1. The unit is quite large with plenty of space. 2. The bed has a complete mosquito net, which came in very handy. The bed was very comfortable. 3. The cottage is not entirely enclosed and there will be some minor wildlife. 4. There is a resident Gecko, in the kitchen, which is actually outdoors. He was cute and not a bother. We definately recommend this place and the location, as it's private and very "local"

  • Karen and Ron were fantastic hosts. When we arrived at Bali cottage we were taken aback by just how pretty it was. Lots of artefacts from around the world, nice lighting, just a really nice atmosphere. There were some great little finishing touches that made the stay really special. The snorkelling beach is about 30 seconds walk away. When you wake up in the morning to birds and the sound of the sea you know you've made the right choice. Thoroughly recommended!

Romantic hideaway! This property has the lush beauty and privacy of Hana, without the drive! Only 15-20 minutes to the airport, 10 minutes to beaches, 2 minutes to restaurants and shops...on a private gated property with organic nursery. BEAUTIFUL!
This place is a gem! SO CUTE! A recently remodeled 1930's cottage....that Jimi Hendrix stayed in when he was on Maui in 1970 to film Rainbow Bridge. Beautiful, quiet...REAL Maui! Recently remodeled, very cute! It is lined with cedar on the inside so it smells delightful when you walk in.... The Gingerbread House is a studio cottage with a kitchenette (toaster oven, microwave, coffee maker, counter-top burners, full sized fridge) and spacious bathroom with a large custom-built, tiled shower.. It has high cathedral ceilings with a huge window that looks out on beautiful lush greenery. It is on a gated property. There is wireless Internet in the cottage, but in the event it isn't working, there is wireless available to you in other locations on the property. We have gotten the internet FIXED since the reviews were written so it is WORKING IN THE GINGERBREAD HOUSE AGAIN! (as of 1/16/17) It has a queen sized bed, and an outdoor patio under the spectacular tree canopy. The property is on 4.5 acres of lush beauty with a seasonal stream, an organic veggie start farm, fruit trees galore (help yourself when in season....) papaya, banana, lilikoi (passion fruit), coffee, plantains, oranges, mac nuts, avocado, lychee, mango, guava, grapefruit, tangerines, lemons, coconuts, noni....and you also have access to an additional 4 acres on the adjacent property—which is home of The Sacred Garden—beautiful!. WE HAVE NOT INCLUDED the 14.41% Hawaii Transient Accommodations Tax because you would have to pay the airbnb fee on that so to save you their fee WE WILL SEND YOU A SEPARATE INVOICE as a resolution request through Airbnb for the additional fee. (They do not add extra fees to the resolution requests.) PLEASE NOTE THAT IT IS STATE LAW THAT WE ADD THE TAX...Sorry! We have a 3 night minimum however we will book for 1-2 nights if the nights are available between other bookings so feel free to check with us. We have a 5 night minimum during Holiday periods like Christmas. We are in an awesome location just 20 minutes from the airport and Costco, and only 2 miles to Makawao town restaurants and shops, 7 minutes to Paia, 5 minutes to Haiku town. 50 Minutes to Haleakala National Park entrance. We also have a house on the property that is a vacation rental as well so if you need more space for a larger gathering let me know! I offer retreat services—relationship coaching, personal and spiritual growth, guided labyrinth walks and work with Maui's best practitioners so if you want more than a vacation, let me know! We can help you with everything from Massage, to intuitive readings! I also perform weddings so if you are thinking of getting married while you are on Maui....I can also help you with that! This rental is on the property adjacent to The Sacred Garden which has two walking labyrinths, water lily ponds, meditation gardens, and more ...and is free and open to the public daily. We have caterers available in needed. The elevation is about 1000 feet which is PERFECT on Maui! We are about 10 degrees cooler than sea level which makes for absolutely comfortable days (70-80 degrees) and GREAT temps for sleeping (usually in the 60's). This is the MAXIMUM elevation you can stay and still go scuba diving on Maui. Speaking of diving...we are avid divers and can assist you booking Scuba Diving with the best dive operation on Maui. You will definitely want a rental car....there is a bus stop a mile or two away but not ideal....and bikes are a little hazardous as these are hilly, windy, narrow roads. We have a HUGE friendly dog on the property... he is great...but be forewarned he is BIG! (180 pounds)...not a barker, super sweet. We also have 4 cats on the property but no animals are inside the cottage. There are wild chickens and roosters and cows on the property across the stream. Please keep in mind that this is a jungle environment and it is nearly impossible to keep all insects out of any accommodation in Hawaii unless we poison the place. If you are phobic of insects, the jungle will not be your best bet. Gecko lizards are also common inside the houses here.
This area is a magical well kept secret on Maui. We are located at the dividing line between the wet side and the dry side, which means we get enough rain to stay green, and enough sun to stay sane! We get rainbows almost daily and are the perfect temperature (60's at night, 70's-80's in the day).
  • We really enjoyed our stay at the cottage. It is very central for getting around. It is located just inside the jungle so it is wetter than the coast but that's not really a problem. The place is very charming with great bathroom and eating facilities. Eve was away on our trip but Steve was also very helpful.

  • What a unique place to stay! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Gingerbread House. One of our favorite activities from the trip was exploring the grounds and all the exotic fruit trees!

    Katie2015-11-05T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay at the Gingerbread House was amazing. eve met us at the property and was very thorough on explaining everything. The cottage and bed were so cozy and comfortable and we had everything we needed. Well almost...we had failed to bring any warm clothing (bc it was Hawaii!!) and we were due to have a mtn bike ride at 9,000 ft (brrrrr) and Eve showed up with all sorts of sweatshirts and jackets for BOTH my boyfriend and I and that made such a huge difference on the ride!! We also got to take place in a full moon labrynth ceremony which was on the grounds and that was special to both of us. Perfect spot, perfect little cottage and perfect hosts...what more could you ask for ??

    Katie2015-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • Your little gingerbread house was just stunning and so cozy! The grounds at the Sacred Garden and rest of the property was amazing and so zen. It completely helps with tying to find that relaxing time. ♥️ Thank you again for our stay with you. It was just what Andrew and I needed, to be able to unplug and just get away from everyone. If we come back to Maui, I know where will be will be staying ♥️

    Laura2017-06-27T00:00:00Z
  • The gingerbread house was beyond cute. My husband and I stayed here for our wedding week. The house has everything you need and is conveniently located near the OGG airport, towns, beaches and major roads that will take you to the other sides of the island. There are adorable chickens and geckos outside of the house that add to the upcountry experience. Eve was an exceptional host. She was always so quick to respond and offer suggestions about anything on her property or the island. Eve ordained our wedding at her labyrinth in the next lot and allowed us to host the reception in her log cabin, which we rented for our family to stay in. Everyone fell in love with the gingerbread house. I can't get over how stinkin' cute it was. Thanks again, Eve.

  • Great place! Got to see the tropical side of Maui!

    Lorenzo2017-07-11T00:00:00Z
  • We are feeling very relaxed after 4 nights in the Gingerbread house. The setting is amazing, and we were able to explore the grounds and enjoy the jungle and river-side seats. Eve was a very gracious host which contributed greatly to feeling relaxed as soon as we arrived. Highly recommend the gingerbread house and as big music fans, we were intrigued by it's history.

  • Joni Mitchell wrote in her song, Woodstock, about getting ourselves back to the garden. This retreat does just that. It is a perfect place to decompress from our 21st century lives. The cottage is perfect for learning how simple life can be.you are surrounded by natural beauty and an abundance of fruit trees which your host, Eve, shares with guests. We found it a perfect place to relax after our travel fom the east coast of the USA. The body has a chance to acclimate to natural rhythms, and the mind drifts away. If you need to shop, dine out, etc. you are minutes from that as well. The cottage is well stocked, clean, and has ample utility to prepare simple meals. Only the cook top was a bit small for our liking, as we enjoy preparing most of our own dinners.

  • Mick was a great host. He was very quick to respond to every question we had. They had everything nice and clean and snacks waiting. The place was better than pictured! We lived to unique and thoughtful details. My wife even wanted them to decorate our home. It was very cozy and had all we needed. There were plenty of places to check out to eat at. Our time there was unfortunately short, but the hosts and the place made it an excellent time. We would definitely stay here again!!

    Jason2016-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • Thanks so much for the wonderful stay! They have raised the bar on Airbnb properties (and B&B's in general!) from this day forward. All others will measured against the high standards of this place. From the expansive little details, to their gracious hospitality, they made us feel welcome and at home. We will be back and will recommend their place to everyone we meet!

    Doug2016-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • Mick is a stellar host. We had everything we could possibly want. The bed was very comfy, the snacks were greatly appreciated and we slept like babies its so quiet behind the main house. We loved the neighborhood and walked to Curtis park everyday, sometimes twice, to walk our dog. We took advantage of the little patio with its flowers and shade. Just the perfect respite for us and our dog Em. Thanks for a great stay, and for being dog friendly!!

    Kate2016-08-24T00:00:00Z
  • My girlfriend and I stayed at Mick's carriage house for four days while we were in town for a conference. It is a wonderful space and Mick is an enthusiastic and conscientious host. The space itself is beautifully designed and extremely comfortable (we especially enjoyed the heated floors). The amenities are all top-notch as well. The bathrobes in particular are a nice touch. We had a great experience, would recommend it highly, and hope to return sometime.

    Erich2016-11-21T00:00:00Z
  • We loved staying at Mick's place! Such a well considered space, exactly as described in the pictures. Mick was incredibly helpful and I would definitely stay here again.

    Pablo2015-11-25T00:00:00Z
  • If you are fortunate enough to book the 1880's carriage house, consider yourself very lucky. Mick and Patrick were absolutely wonderful and their place is just as spectacular as they are. A cozy cottage located on Stout street with a charm that will make you not want to go back home. Mick and Patrick made us feel right at home the entire time, which made our stay that much more memorable. To Mick and Patrick, we thank yall for everything and will absolutely be back. This a rural desert location. The Tile House is a magical place. A vortex in the desert of love and space. This is the place to retreat and unwind, find yourself, breathe and explore. Not available or appropriate for parties or large gatherings. A spot to meditate, cook, and watch the sky, the clouds and stars at night. A healing, colorful environment for rejuvenating your spirit and soul.
A two bedroom house with outdoor hot tub and gorgeous views, and gated courtyard with firepit. Queen-sized beds, picture windows, cotton linens, and towels. Fabulous and reliable WiFi. iPod dock with speakers. Full Kitchen, refrigerator, coffee maker, mixing bowls, wood-burning stove, swamp cooler. Laundry facility on site. Fireplace and pellet stove. Dog-door for your pet to access a fenced and secure yard. Great for large get togethers or a romantic getaway. Sleeps 4 comfortably but also has a sofa sleeper for a kid. Cradled inside and outside by a mosaic made of Mexican tile, smalti, handmade Perry Hoffman ceramics, tile and fused glass, found desert tiles, found objects, stained glass and ceramic bric-brac, THERE you find yourself situated in complete silence, watching the desert light crawl across the fast and intricate landscape which is ALL around you. 7 miles from the town of 29 Palms and the east entrance to Joshua Tree National Park. 360 degree views amid the peace and quiet, beauty and wonder, where indoor and outdoor osmosis expands your exposure to the desert. Touches of luxury, whimsy, and function make the visitor feel safe but also adventurous. Perry has been working on his roadside attraction / museum / gallery / magic spot / mosaic house since it began in 2000. 11 years later, 800 sqft were added, and approximately 2500 sqft of mosaic applied and grouted. Glass fused baubles, hand made ceramics and a magical desert. This desert homestead turned beacon of love vision is waiting to reach the stars. The Tile House sits in the middle of the vast and open desert. You need not walk two feet to be a part of the wilderness, now it is up to you to look around both macro and micro and see what you can see here. Jack rabbits, cottontails, ravens, scorpions, desert iguana, snakes, Gambel's quail, lesser night hawks, owls, coyotes, roadrunners, sphinx moths, and kangaroo rats, flash floods, dust devils, lightning storms, sunsets, summer rains, empty roads, wildflowers, and cacti are some of the things you might happen to see. Walk gently in nature. At night, absorb the clear starry skids, and August and November meteor showers. Remember, there are rusty bits and broken tiles in the sand. This is a work in progress. Be careful and don't walk about barefoot. You have been warned. Not recommended for children, unless prior arrangements and agreements are made. You are ironically completely alone in the middle of nowhere and the center of the universe.
  • Amazing house! Every corner of the house is an art! Room is very clean! Spa is incredible! A must see place in the world!

  • We absolutely loved our stay at the tile house. Everything about Perry's home made us feel creative, energized, and at peace. We fell in love with his work and the life he put into his home, and we always felt as though it was comfortable and accommodating. We will come back again and again. Thank you so much for sharing your paradise with us!

  • Unbelievable experience. I absolutely loved the sense of freedom Perry's tile house/art inspires when you stay there. Will definitely hope to be back again soon! Only wish was that I had stayed longer!! Thank you for the inspiration Perry!

  • It's even more amazing than the pictures. Every time we turned a corner there was another small world to marvel at. Perry made it easy and private. I would bring friends and travelers here, perfect way to experience the California desert.

    David2015-05-27T00:00:00Z
  • The tile house was a truly incredible space to spend the night in Joshua tree. Waking up to watch the sunrise was a real treat, as was gazing up at the stars from the hot tub. Unfortunately we didn't get to meet Perry but he was very helpful and quick in response to all of our questions on arrival. Thanks!!

    Danielle Norita2016-03-11T00:00:00Z
  • We enjoyed a much needed escape at Perry's Tile House for my birthday weekend. It's soooo much more than I imagined! The walls are full of life and there's something beautiful, crazy, and cool to see everywhere you look. It's super chill and peaceful while being funky and fun. With my boyfriend being from Taos, NM it definitely reminded him of home. Sitting in the hot tub under the stars was perfect, and you really can see the Milky Way! Perry is an awesome and very responsive host, writing right back to me whenever I had a question. I just wish we could have stayed longer; you need at least a good three days to take it all in and really enjoy it and BREATHE! Thanks Perry!

  • My three adult daughters and I had our girls' weekend in the yurt and it was wonderful. Despite some cold nights, the yurt was warm and beautifully furnished. The kitchen has everything you need. The scenery was magnificent and Whitt and Martha were wonderful hosts. The tour of the sustainable farm was a jewel I had not expected. We learned a lot about sustainable farming and loved meeting all the very friendly animals. I highly recommend this place.

    Judy2015-10-18T00:00:00Z
  • The yurt is wonderful. t is very quiet and relaxing and allowed the perfect ending to our vacation in Virginia. Martha and Whitt made us feel very welcome. The yurt was absolutely beautiful. We wish we had scheduled our vacation to allow more time at the yurt. We would suggest anyone planning to stay here to stay for more than one day if not for their whole vacation. The pool and hot tub are well maintained. The yurt is just what you see in the pictures, if not better. We will definitely be returning!

    Garrett2015-08-03T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful (although too short) visit to the yurt. The yurt was very nice. Location was beautiful, breakfast was delicious and tour of farm was interesting and fun. \We will return when we can explore and hike.

  • We will definitely be staying here again. The Yurt is beautiful and it's located in such a wonderful area. I would recommend ordering a food basket. All the food is farm fresh and all the essentials to cook with were provided, Spices....etc. The only downsize was I wish we had more TIME to stay. There are plenty of trails and things to do outdoors but we just did not have enough time. Thanks again Whitt for your hospitality!

  • Alan's place is great as a stopping point for Acadia National Park and the surrounding areas. The grounds are quiet, the views are beautiful and Alan is a great host with an amazing history. He made us feel very welcome and showed us around his grounds.... Recommended.

    Neil2013-10-05T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful stay at Alan's cottage. He was welcoming upon our arrival and throughout our time there. He had great suggestions for where to grab a bite to eat and places to explore in the surrounding area (including a gem we would have never found without his suggestion, the beautiful town of Stonington on Deer Isle). Acadia was a quick and easy drive from the cabin. The cabin had plenty of amenities which made our stay very comfortable. Alan was a great host and you can tell he takes pride in this cottage and preserving the musical tradition and history on the farm. We would love to come back someday!

    Shannon2015-05-20T00:00:00Z
  • We loved, loved, loved staying in the rustic chalet, Alan's former music therapy studio. The house was comfortable and well equipped, and was the perfect base camp for exploring the area, including daily trips to Acadia park. The drive to the park was easy and interesting. Alan was a great host and his assistant Maureen was equally awesome. We were lucky enough to attend a great jazz concert on the property (!) in the barn right next door (Surry Arts in the Barn). We also loved visiting the authentic Japanese zendo (Morgan Bay Zendo) on the adjacent property. Fabulous trip!!

    Stephen2018-07-30T00:00:00Z
  • Alan’s place was great! Beautiful night sky, great vibes, and a wonderful host. Would highly recommend for a single traveller or couple looking for a quiet getaway.

    John2018-04-06T00:00:00Z
  • Alan's cottage was a perfect place to have much needed rest and relaxation. It was an amazing escape from our busy city lives, and a nice jumping off point to explore Acadia and that part of Maine. Alan really did make us feel at home.

    Darshan2014-06-14T00:00:00Z
  • Alan's cabin and surrounding property is a dream location for an artist's retreat and for everyone eager to get away from the hustle and bustle of city life. A piano, fascinating books, wifi if you want it, and - of course - a spectacular view! Not to mention the cabin's proximity to Acadia National Park, where we spent most of our time. Acadia's not but an hour's drive away, and the nearby towns of Blue Hill and Ellsworth are interesting in their own right. The loft's sleeping space is snug and serviceable despite the lack of mattress (foam padding is used instead) - it's truly amazing how Alan has improvised and improved this rustic cabin over the years. Alan himself was kind, responsive, and concerned with ensuring our stay was comfortable. His passion for Maine and the arts at large is contagious; be sure to ask to see the Surry Concert Barn!

The antique iron bedframe holds a queen mattress, the bathroom has a small interior shower and a real toilet, the kitchen is fully equipped with dishes and utensils, and alongside the deck is a charcoal grill and fire bowl for your night-time fire. The owners really go out of their way to add those special touches to make your trip complete, such as leaving fresh eggs in the fridge (as long as the chickens keep up) and local organic coffee. They also strive to make this property as green as possible by using environmentally friendly dish soap and laundry detergent, providing recycled paper products and full recycling, using low-wattage light bulbs, and more. This cozy retreat is nestled in an elm grove along the banks of Smith Creek on 10 beautiful acres shared with the owners. You’ll really feel like you’ve escaped to nature, yet the fabulous shopping and dining of downtown Wimberley are only 3 miles down the road. It’s the best of both worlds! So, what are you waiting for? The Dixie Daisy is the unique getaway you’ve been dreaming of. We are confident that it will exceed your expectations! Pet policy: Pets are allowed for a fee of $50 per pet, and we ask that you leave cash or check for the pet fee with the keys upon checkout. Pets must be declared to the owners in advance, preferably at the time of booking. We ask that if dogs are left unattended that they be crated and that they remain on leash when wandering the property if they might be inclined to chase a child, cat, or chicken or wander off. Thanks for understanding! Single night bookings: We have a two night minimum, but when there is a single night gap in the schedule we are happy to accept a single night booking for an additional $25. Just shoot us a message with your date and we'll go from there.
Wimberley is a lovely little town full of unique shops, swimming holes, and friendly folks. We think you'll love your visit here!
  • Fabulous, relaxing, much needed trip that we didn't know we needed! Wonderful Wimberely was so fun and close by the Dixie Daisy...yet just far enough away to feel like we were able to retreat! Dixie Daisy is so charming and well planned. Jennifer and Gregory are warm and welcoming! The Blue hole, local brew pubs, and The wineries were our favorite places to visit! I would recommend this place to any family wanting to get away. We went to local thrift shops, a bonsai garden exhibit, a glass blowing demonstration and we spent much time relaxing at the Dixie Daisy. The outdoor shower was incredible and the property is breathtaking! Overall on of our favorite trips!

  • Great and unique experience! The Airstream itself is something you don't get to stay in every day. Very cool and it is kept super clean. Gregory and Jennifer made us feel very welcome - offering help with anything we needed and even leaving fresh coffee grounds, as well as eggs from their own chickens for us! The location is perfectly located right outside town, and close to a number of wineries, local swimming holes and the Blanco River. Make sure you explore the creek behind the Dixie Daisy, and find the treehouse! Will definitely try to stay there again!

  • We spent the Thanksgiving Holiday in the Dixie Daisy. We had the best time. It was the perfect getaway. We loved to explore the property, sit down by the creek and even the treehouse. We loved that the provided wood for the perfect, nightly fire. And that hot tub was so relaxing. The bed was very comfortable, we loved the outdoor shower too. It was a little chilly the nights we stayed but with an extra blanket and heater we were very toasty and comfortable. We were so appreciative that they allowed us to bring our dog, as well. Highly recommend the Dixie Daisy!! A+ experience!

    Shannon2017-11-24T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect for our little anniversary getaway. We loved just hanging on the deck and enjoying the whole set up of the property! Our dogs loved the place and we were able to take them in town to a few different dog friendly places and the town park which is beautiful and right off the river

    Anna2018-06-19T00:00:00Z
  • Fun place to stay. The fire pit, hot tub, hammock, and out door shower were all enjoyed.

    Kelly2017-12-07T00:00:00Z
  • This place was great! It was such a peaceful and relaxing little spot. Would totally recommend.

    Matthew2014-01-20T00:00:00Z
  • Such a beautiful and restful space! Jennifer and Gregory have put a lot of love into it and we’re drawing on that inspiration for our own place. It’s got everything you need and feels very private while still being a quick drive to town. The outdoor shower and creek nearby were our favorite parts. Highly recommend!

    Ben2018-01-12T00:00:00Z
  • We really loved this place. It was clean, secluded, well-kept, and just exuded personality. Jennifer and Gregory were fantastic hosts and happy to answer any questions that we had. For a weekend getaway, you can't beat this place. We'll probably be back.

The eruption at Kilauea continues. We are at the summit of the mountain. There is no lava here. USGS is housed locally and keeps us informed. Air quality is better than in the last ten years. It is not possible to predict what will happen in the future. It is safe here and the Kahuku unit of the park is open. This is a real treehouse. This is an exciting, awe inspiring time to visit. Truly a once in a lifetime event here. True adventure. #weaccept
This is a custom designed treehouse, built by the same crew you see in Treehouse Masters on TV. The Jurassic attitude of the rainforest is preserved on the grounds. We also have a wedding venue nearby you may view in the photos. Our volcanoes are in a spectacular phase just now. To see the effects of the eruption, you drive into Pahoa and down Highway 130, currently reopened. All roads open to the public are fully maintained. There is no known danger of being cut off between Kona and Volcano. There are many routes to take. *** Summer 2108 notes: The park is currently closed. This is expected to be temporary. It is due to what the park calls an abundance of caution during this cycle of the eruption. There is ocean entry of lava. The only ways to view the lava with your own eyes just now are by helicopter tour and lava boat. Land viewing is restricted to residents of the affected areas. Local effects of the eruption have included increased seismic activity. Our air quality has improved, not worsened, as the plume is gone from the summit. Mahinui Na Lani hangs in ohia trees growing over a lava tube in the rainforest that extends into Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. The treehouse was conceived as a companion to our rainforest pavilion, a Bali style structure a couple of blocks away, intended as an intimate wedding venue. Both may be reserved, and there are a couple of photos of the pavilion included in this series. The treehouse is accessed via a path that is about 100 meandering feet in the forest, lava boulders set into the side of the lava tube, and ladders. The ascent is somewhat steep once you reach the lava rocks. For your safety and comfort, we provide day packs to transfer whatever clothing is needed for your stay from your luggage into the abode. There is a special recessed corner dedicated to your stuff, with hooks for clothes, and a couple of night stands with drawers that can hold less bulky items. It's Hawaii, and the climate is mild, the atmosphere everywhere very casual. We also provide bathrobes. The treehouse itself is built on two levels, connected via a ship's ladder. The main level includes the living room, with two chairs and an ottoman, flat screen for viewing films & playing CDs, built in indoor window table & stools, small kitchen, outdoor shower, and composting toilet & vanity. The indoor fireplace is a Jotul propane stove vented to the outside. Outdoors on the lanai there is a cedar hot tub, and a teak table and chairs for al fresco dining in the trees. The upper level is also upper canopy, with birds actually flying around beneath you sometimes. There is a queen sized bed with a memory foam mattress, the tiny "closet corner" and another lanai. The windows other than the french doors onto the lanai are stained glass, made by a local artist. The kitchen functions best as a place to store leftovers after you go out to eat, with the microwave available to reheat them. There are plates and utensils so you can bring in take out and enjoy your meal either indoors or outdoors in solitude. The house was built primarily of recycled materials. The fir floors and redwood and cedar siding were once a church. This particular area is adjacent to Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, where Kilauea has been active for decades. There are hiking trails in and around the park through rainforest, desert, volcanic devastation, even a path with footprints preserved from an eruption over a hundred years ago. There are petroglyphs. Less than a mile from the treehouse there is Volcano Village, with restaurants and art galleries, a couple of places to buy gas. The entrance park itself is about two miles away. The neighborhood is rainforest, with many unbuilt upon lots. The reason there is no view of the treehouse through the forest is because the rainforest is very dense. There is the floor, very jungly with ginger, native ferns, and trees. Mid canopy are the tree ferns, some twenty feet tall, and over a hundred years old. The upper canopy is a mixture of ohia trees with red lehua flowers, Hawaiian holly, and others. We are asked from time to time if more than two people can stay in the treehouse. We can especially understand that families would like to bring their children to share this experience. The treehouse is a two person space. Everything is designed to be a honeymoon experience. While it is possible for more than two people to sit together and chat, only two can sleep over. There is no rollaway bed, nor is there room for one or for any other furniture beyond what is there already. Hall of Fame: The treehouse has been featured in Extreme Cribs, on episode 13. The Ellen Show: Kim Douglas's Tropical Vacation Ke Ola Magazine Volcano Tree House story in July - August 2011 edition Trip Advisor: One of the Ten Most Romantic Places to Stay (global selections) PureWow feature Treehouses of the World, Travel Channel European segment, by Treehouse Masters series Buzzfeed blogs and news articles published globally You will have access to the entire property, including the small structure below the treehouse near where you park your car. You may safely lock your luggage inside that room and use the day packs inside during your stay. If you use a CPAP machine, please contact us prior to making a reservation. There is only one treehouse on the property. We live nearby and come by regularly to maintain the treehouse. It is likely we will meet you on arrival. Otherwise, we are available by cell phone, text, email. When we are away, someone else who lives locally will be available to greet you and take care of your needs. The treehouse requires daily attention because it is off grid. This is generally done between 11 am and 4 pm, and most guests are away for that portion of the day. We do ask that if you are staying all day at the treehouse, that you communicate with us to let us know when one of us can come up and take care of the place. The neighborhood is mostly old growth rainforest with a few houses here and there. When you drive up, you will notice there are neighbors across the street and next door. You will forget about them once you walk through the moongate and enter the world of the treehouse. Sometimes of a late afternoon and evening you may hear a local hula halau practicing. We hope you find the sounds of laughter and Hawaiian language and music adds to the ambience. A rental car is a necessity. While there is public transportation, it is a long slow trip up the mountain. Uber and Lyft are available here, but the distances are such that renting a car tends to be more efficient. The park is a couple of miles down the road, and so large you will want to drive and not attempt to walk. Volcano Village is about a mile up the road. You might like to stroll up and back. If walking into the village for dinner, a flashlight for your return is an absolute must. We provide - please take it with you! If you are planning a first trip to our island, we suggest that you stay 2 or 3 nights at the treehouse. Please contact us for for discussion before you reserve if you wish. The island is truly big, and most people would rather spend the night on the west side of the island rather than return to Volcano after a day of play over there. Although we show rates for long term stays, we would like to discuss plans with you before completion of a stay of 5 days or longer. When you decide you want to stay at the treehouse, you are coming to a place unlike any other. There are other treehouses, but each is unique. This treehouse is off grid. This means it requires hands on service, every day. For most people, this is a seamless thing that happens while they are off adventuring. Every once in awhile, people come and do not want to leave, at all. We understand, but we do want to let you know that we must enter the treehouse on a daily basis to service the composting toilet. The hot tub also requires attention. The treehouse is in the forest. It is inside the trees, and this means easy critter access. To keep them outside, we carry your rubbish away and make sure your food is stored adequately. It is not a good idea to leave unwashed dishes, pots and pans, for these same reasons. This is the tropics. There are insects. They are not as prolific here as at lower elevations, but they do exist, and will visit you especially at dusk with lights on. Spiders are residents of the forest. They are food for the birds. If you love the birds, please tolerate their food supply. We empty the house of spiders daily but we do not poison. The spiders come back at will. They are small, and stay in the corners. They leave evidence of their visit in the form of webs. We do our best to be inhospitable to them, but they persist. When there is weather, like hard rains and winds, from your perch in the trees you will experience the sound and feel in ways you may have not before. The house is tight - the weather does not enter if the doors and windows are closed. But the sounds can be formidable. You will feel close to nature. Because of the size of the treehouse and the fact that it is off grid, it is not possible to offer a regular kitchen. The storage space is inadequate for more than a couple of days worth of food supplies.
The neighborhood is part undeveloped rainforest and part lots with houses. There are no tract homes - every house is individually designed and built. There are no street lights so at night it is very dark. The forest tends to obscure moonlight. There is a hula halau that practices nearby some afternoons, and you can hear their Hawaiian music and chants late in the day.
  • Great experience! Sunrise from the upstairs bedroom was breathtaking! Highly recommend!

    Michael2015-06-06T00:00:00Z
  • The tree house is amazing. It's small but has everything you need. I loved the outdoor shower. You have to love outdoors and nature to like this place. At arrival Gail gave us some banana bread. It was the best banana bread that i ever ate. The area (Volcano) is more for people who love outdoors and hiking then for people who are looking just for the perfect beach and palm trees. I love the place and it was definitely a great experience.

  • A unique experience like no other! We had a fabulous stay and my only regret is that we weren't able to stay longer. The location is perfect for visiting the volcanoes and the treehouse was exactly how the listing described, if not better. This was the highlight of our trip. STAY HERE!

    Kimberly2015-05-25T00:00:00Z
  • Our hearts are full of deep gratitude for the refuge the treehouse provided in the tail end of our honeymoon. We enjoyed waking up to the rain or the birds chirping in the morning, and enjoying our coffee and breakfast while looking out at beautiful rainforest! We highly recommend a meal at O'helo Cafe a short distance away for a yummy lunch or dinner. Seeing the volcano at night, visiting the black sands beach, and walking to the top of Rainbow Falls in the rain were some of our favorites. If you happen to be staying in the treehouse during a heavy rainstorm like we did on our first two nights, then we recommend earplugs. It was a magical orchestra! Thank you to Tia for looking out for us, and helping us find our way to the treehouse during the storm. We hope to someday be able to return to this magical place in the future.

  • This treehouse is truly a one of a kind experience! The ambiance of the house is so romantic and cozy. If you get a chance to stay here, you have to do it! The hot tub is the best way to unwind after a long day exploring the island. Gail and Robert are the ultimate hosts. I absolutely loved the papaya breakfast with homemade granola, I crave it now that I am gone. We couldn't have asked for more!

  • This was a really unique and interesting place to stay. The tree house is amazing!! So well built and with lots of character and attention to detail. The hot tub was perfect and the outdoor shower was one of the best showers we've ever had :-) The owners were very helpful and left lots of nice food for us. Its in a perfect location for visiting the volcano and the local area has some nice restaurants Thanks again for an unforgettable stay!

    Fiona2016-04-02T00:00:00Z
  • We loved the treehouse in Volcano! Everything was exactly as described. Gail and Robert were very nice and extremely quick in replying to questions etc. We had a few rainy days when we stayed in the Park - and the treehouse was just perfect for this weather. The location is also very close to the Park Entrance which is great. We'd come back anytime.

    Karin2016-06-17T00:00:00Z
  • My husband and I stayed here on NYE during our honeymoon. This place is so magical and off the grid. Great for nature lovers! The hot tub was perfect and the bed was so cozy! The outdoor shower was something I will not forget. Breakfast was delicious. I wish we could have stayed longer but it was a perfect way to end the year.

  • My daughter and I stayed at Mike and Nic’s place over the Thanksgiving holiday. It was cozy, warm, clean, spacious and peaceful. The neighborhood was quiet and friendly with small cafes and shops within walking distance (I recommend the Moonlight Cafe for breakfast). The nearby park had a spectacular view of the city. At nighttime, it was breathtaking. Although I only got to spend a little bit of time with our hosts, Mike and Nic, they were truly kind and down to earth people. If you want a real taste of the SF lifestyle, this is where to stay. When I go back, and I know it will be soon, Mike and Nic’s will definitely be my first choice of places to stay.

    Bob2017-11-24T00:00:00Z
  • Beautifully decorated and organized, so cozy! Great layout and location. I wish we stayed longer!!

    Sarah2018-06-02T00:00:00Z
  • This place is so beautiful! And it's actually bigger than it appears in the photographs. Gorgeous location! The apartment is a little slice of San Franciscan heaven. Thank you so much to Mike and Nic. I will definitely be back again one day soon. :)

    Emma2015-11-28T00:00:00Z
  • This is a luxurious apartment in an absolutely fantastic area. Mike and Nic are very generous hosts. So much to see and do in SF all easily accessible from Bernal Heights. A great place to stay, would definitely return!!

One bedroom sanctuary with a beautiful garden view and cozy fireplace. Comes with it's own entrance just steps from bus lines, train and all that Haight Street has to offer. Complete privacy with a separate bedroom, bathroom, and breakfast bar.
If you want to be within walking distance to Golden Gate Park, Haight St, Buena Vista Park, and Cole Valley, this is the spot. Full size bed in the bedroom with 400 thread count sheets and a pull-out twin in the living room. Just installed fireplace and large screen tv makes hanging out fun in the comfortable living room. Bathroom has a shower within the tub and white fluffy towels.
You will hear from many that this is the best neighborhood in SF. I chose this area for the many Victorian homes, the ease of mass transit, the walkability, and the abundance of parks, restaurants, and nightlife nearby. As a recent transplant to this area I can tell you that the stores, coffee shops, restaurants, and pubs are great here. I forget I have a car most of the time! Street parking is easy except for Wednesday 8-10 due to street cleaning.
  • Location of this AirBnB is fantastic. Just easy walking to good food and drinks. Great location for getting around SF by bus or car and walking. The small and cosy, with a great gas flame fire to keep us warm in the night. Very homely decorated and Sara the host provided lots of amenities in the room such as Espresso coffee, juice, milk and some snacks. We had a great stay. Thanks

    Mike2017-11-20T00:00:00Z
  • It was a pleasure to meet Sara. She is very polite and respectful. Great apartment in San Francisco. We really enjoyed our stay. Many thanks!

    Patrick2016-03-22T00:00:00Z
  • Sara was very friendly and welcoming. She has freshly baked choc chip cookies for us and allowed us to have a package delivered there. The space was as nice as the photos. The area has a few nice cafés and has a hippy vibe. Sara let us check-in a bit early but unfortunately I felt this was at the expense of having a clean space particularly the bathroom.

    Dominique2014-11-22T00:00:00Z
  • Just perfect. GREAT location, very accessible to everything and could catch an Uber/Lyft within 2 minutes anytime. The way the apartment is situated makes it quiet and peaceful. The furnishings and description is entirely accurate. A wonderful local grocery nearby lets you buy necessities (food, wine), but Sara keeps the basics well stocked (TP, towels). Very comfortable, great atmosphere and highly recommend.

  • The house is in good condition, quiet and tidy, the landlord is friendly, we like their dog very much, and we hope to have a chance to stay

  • This place could not have been any cuter or more comfortable. We stayed here with our daughter and everything was perfect for our small family. I absolutely recommend this place.

    Dylan2016-12-20T00:00:00Z
  • An excellent place and wonderful host. I will want to stay here again.

    Shawn2014-06-14T00:00:00Z
  • We absolutely loved our stay in Sara's beautiful apartment. It's in a fantastic location in the Haight-Ashbury district and after a day in downtown it was great to come 'home' to a real neighbourhood. We loved the Pork Store Cafe for breakfast and Sparrow and Magnolia for dinner, all on Haight Street. The apartment itself was very clean and tastefully furnished. Sara was very helpful to deal with and we couldn't fault our stay here.

  • Great location. Lovely place with beautiful view. Recommended

  • David and Ling's Malibu Hideaway was perfect! The drive up the mountain is a little scary if you've never been on narrow, winding roads but the view is definitely worth it once you get to the house. The view is spectacular and the apartment, while small, is perfect for a romantic getaway. The grounds around the house are beautiful and the apartment was stocked with everything we needed for our 5 day stay. We would definitely love to come back!

    Amanda2016-05-07T00:00:00Z
  • It was a beautiful stay at Ling and Davids apartment. All our expectations were exceeded. It is all exactly like in the pictures and descriptions. For us, it was a great experience to have 'our little home' during our one week stay in Malibu. Communication between us and David was always friendly and he answered super fast. We seriously are thinking of coming back there.

    Alexander2015-10-04T00:00:00Z
  • Love it hope you guys taker of the house more from the outside other than that can wait to get back

    Abdullah2015-05-08T00:00:00Z
  • David and Ling were extremely responsive to any questions we had. The house is lovely and exactly as described. We didn't cook much in the home, although the kitchen is well stocked if you wanted to make a meal. Use the guidebook they provide! It was extremely useful as this was our first trip to Malibu. We took long walks Carbon Beach, Broad Beach, and Point Dume State Park and admired the real estate. We ate at Duke's (twice for "wine Wednesday!") and Plate Malibu. We took a day trip to Ojai. The weather was a little on the cool side for Malibu so we didn't sit outside much, although the view from the inside was just as spectacular. The oranges on the tree were nearly ripe but that didn't stop us from having a few during our stay! My favorite part of each day was waking up to the sunrise. Words cannot describe how beautiful it is through the floor to ceiling glass windows. The home gets a little warm when the afternoon sun comes in so either pull the shades down or crack open the windows. The bathroom was plenty big and there was nice water pressure for the shower. We never ran out of hot water. All in all, we found David and Ling's place to be very welcoming and relaxing. It was just what we needed!

  • I could write a very long text praising Ling and Davids Malibu house. But to make it short it is likely the most wonderful place I have ever stayed. I would recommend everyone to stay there. It is simply absolutely fantastic inside as well as outside. Here life is luxury.

  • Christie is the perfect host and has such a wonderful place created where we could stay for almost one week. My husband and I felt very comfortable, the apartment was just perfect. We have really very much enjoyed the time in San Francisco and I can highly recommend Christies place. Christie, thank you so much for hosting us, you made our stay really outstanding. Always again. felicitas&oliver from Germany, Berlin.

  • Nice clean place.

    Daniel2014-05-18T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay at Christie's property in San Francisco was absolutely wonderful. The location (Pac Heights) and parking arrangements made the stay very convenient, which for San Francisco is very welcome. Christie made us feel at home and we thoroughly enjoyed making her apartment our "home base" as we explored the city. With Filmore St just down the road there's also plenty to explore in the neighborhood. The bed, in particular, was amazingly comfortable which helped us start each day on the right foot. Highly recommended!

    Brian2012-04-16T00:00:00Z
  • we had a very nice stay at Christie's appartment: the place is well located (Fillmore street one block up the road), clean and large enough to spend a couple of days. In addition, Christie was a great help with many things.

    Lauric2012-07-12T00:00:00Z
  • Christie was a wonderful host - helpful and available if needed. The flat is beautiful, clean, comfortable and well appointed. The location is great - close to shopping, good restaurants and transportation. We enjoyed our stay very much and will hope to book again on our next visit to beautiful San Francisco!

    Barb2014-04-02T00:00:00Z
  • I have made a friend at SF. Christie is not only caring about her guests, she welcomed us with champagne, fruit and every needs. I will only rent from Christy - the perfect hostess. Thank you Christie! Romana

    Romana2014-12-15T00:00:00Z
  • My husband and I enjoyed Christie's lovely and cozy Victorian during Christmas week. She is an awesome host who thinks of every detail; flowers on the table to a fresh change of sheets mid-week. The location is perfect , being close to Fillmore street , super close to all the best Muni routes and gourmet grocery stores. Should our travels bring us back to San Francisco, we will most certainly stay in Christie's grand victorian flat again.

    Leslie2013-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • I stayed here with my girlfriend for one night on a "staycation" and had a wonderful and relaxing break. We spent a lot of time on the back patio/deck soaking up the warm January sun. As a former piano player, it was great to get to play on a Steinway grand piano -- everything I played sounded amazing! Perfect location as well, just two blocks from Fillmore and two blocks from Alta Plaza park. I would definitely recommend this location to a friend.

The Urban Farmhouse circa 1886 - meticulously converted in 2013. Situated adjacent to community garden. The updates afford you all the modern convenience you could ask for and charm you can only get from a building built in 1886. A true Charmer.

Walking distance to local craft breweries and restaurants on Welton and Larimer. Street parking. 2 Bedrooms/2 Bathrooms perfectly sleeps two couples (additional charge for additional guests). We have a pack-n-play and baby gates available upon request. It is my home, but i will lock my personal items away and with the exception of a small portion of the closet the whole place is yours during your stay.
Denver's oldest neighborhood, Curtis Park nestled between gritty RINO with craft breweries, restaurants and Welton Street - all in walking distance (minimum 3 blocks away). About one mile to Denver's 16th Street Mall. One block from Curtis Park with public outdoor pool open Jun-Aug
  • Patrick and the team were very friendly and courteous, and provided everything we needed for this getaway. The Farmhouse is absolutely beautiful, and it was fully equipped with all that was needed. The location is perfect, just a walk to the city center! We loved our stay, it was extremely convenient, and their service was flawless. Thank you so much for a warm and welcome stay.

    Iryna2016-05-09T00:00:00Z
  • Wow! We had such a great experience at Patrick's house in Curtis Park. Everything from the initial request, answering questions, check in, and most importantly the stay itself was truly top notch. The house is stunningly beautiful, and was very nicely furnished. Being close to downtown Denver was a huge plus as well. Parking wasn't an issue as there was plenty of street parking. If you're thinking of renting this listing, do it! It's even better than what it looks like in pictures and Patrick is one of the best hosts you'll encounter. We'd be happy to stay again anytime we're back in Denver!

    Chris & Rachel2016-06-21T00:00:00Z
  • Patrick's farmhouse has so much character & was the perfect place for our quick trip to Denver. The space has everything you need & we loved all the attention to detail. Top notch experience.

    Jeff2016-06-09T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our stay at the Urban Farm house. The house was convenient and located close to downtown and plenty of breweries and quick restaurants with in walking. Patrick was a wonderful host.

    Jennifer2017-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • Patricks’ place is absolutely fantastic! Great location, and it was so cozy. Would absolutely stay here again!

    Justin2018-02-04T00:00:00Z
  • This home was fantastic for a long weekend in Denver. It is in my favorite part of town as it's walkable to several breweries while being very quiet at night and even during a weekday morning. Patrick's place offered us all the amenities I typically pack to bring for myself and the place was spotless upon arrival. Getting in was a breeze and the patio area offered some extra space during some sunny fall afternoons. When I come back I'll definitely look to stay here again.

    Phil2017-11-13T00:00:00Z
  • This Airbnb was one of the best I’ve ever stayed in. All the small details were taken care of. Love it.

Comfy, cozy and romantic cottage less than 3 miles from Downtown. The Cleveland Cottage provides a private oasis within city limits that includes full kitchen, Wifi, parking, electric fireplace & entrance through a private courtyard with fire pit.
*Taxes are collected separately. Please see house rules* -Wifi -Queen bed -Two twin beds in loft -Electric fireplace -Full kitchen -Smart TV: access to personal Hulu/Netflix/HBO Go accounts -Chromecast -Keurig with coffee and green tea -Towels -Blow Dryer -Ice Trays -Filtered water -Luggage racks -Outdoor courtyard -Fire pit -Soaker tub -Shampoo, Conditioner and Bodywash -Library We built and styled this cottage out of our love for adventure, history, creating an experience and the pure romance of traveling. The space is littered with family heirlooms and pieces of antique art that tell the story of our fair city. In the morning, the sun spills through the east facing wall, lighting up the cathedral ceilings and garland cladded chandelier. In the corner of the cottage is a reading nook where you can forget about your worries and dive into any of the novels housed in the library shelves. Wave your hand in front of the electric fireplace to ignite flames that create an authentic ambience or build a real fire in the fire pit outside. Take a long bath in the stock-tank-converted tub or grab the remote for the smart TV and sign into your Netflix/Hulu/HBO Go accounts. You can also cast something from your own computer with our Chromecast. If your adventurous spirit leads you beyond the walls of the The Cleveland Cottage, hop in a Lyft/Uber and take the 5 minute ride to the famous 5 points in East Nashville or downtown to the Honky Tonks. If you get tired, no worries, we've got a personal Keurig, in our full/fully stocked kitchen, to keep you going for days.
We live in the Historic Cleveland Park neighborhood of East Nashville adjacent to the original thoroughfare, Dickerson Rd. It is a transitional neighborhood and part of the gentrification process undergoing most surrounding, downtown neighborhoods here in Nashville. From big ol' craftsman houses to tiny, baby, paint-peeling bungalows- we have never found a more ethnically-diverse, artistic, tight-knit group of neighbors and are positive you will not only fall in love with Nashville, but also with our world-within-a-world... Cleveland friggin' Park.
  • We loved our time in Beta's cottage. It was a cozy little spot that was perfect for our needs. The space was right near downtown, and had plenty of local spots nearby. Beta was a great host, we'd recommend this spot to anyone!

    Andrew2015-11-20T00:00:00Z
  • It is impossible to describe just how amazing our stay was at The Cleveland Cottage! We were in Nashville for a wedding, so it was a pretty hectic weekend; however, the cottage was the perfect retreat for us. I would recommend staying here to anyone looking for a place to stay when visiting the city. We used to live in Nashville, so I have even been recommending it to any of our musician or creative friends that live there because it was a space that I found to be truly inspiring to work in. We will definitely be booking the cottage for our next visit to Nashville! It is everything you hope for in an Airbnb... And then some. :)

    Anna Lora2015-12-20T00:00:00Z
  • Our hosts were very responsive leading up to visit and during. We had a couple questions upon first day there, and they returned emails within half an hour. While they were gone at the time we arrived, our check in was seamless, using the August lock app to unlock/lock door to cottage. Lights were on, record was playing, "fire" was going and we felt welcomed immediately. It was chilly the first night because we mistook the a/c for the heater (remote for fan/ac says "heat" on it), but we were able to get ahold of hosts right away and figured out that the fireplace is actually the heater! Genius. Space was clean and organized, plenty of cooking supplies and toilet paper/towels to last the 2 of us the weekend. There is a Keurig with coffee and tea and little creamers, although we opted to go to store and buy some of our own food for snacks (Kroeger was about 25 min walk from cottage). While we spent a lot of time in downtown, we did walk from cottage to hot yoga of east Nashville on main st., then hit up Mas Tacos on our way home. About 35 minutes walk to yoga, but worth it if you have daylight and decent weather. We used Lyft the rest of time and typically about a $6 ride to downtown, about $15 to airport. I'd definitely stay again, if for nothing else, the wonderful design of the cottage. While we never met beta or emily, they were very helpful hosts.

  • The space is beautifully designed and in a great location. A very quiet and relaxing home near some amazing bars and restaurants and a quick drive to downtown. The upstairs area would be ideal for kids. The vintage records, fire-pit, and coffee machine are all a great touch.

    Matthew2016-10-30T00:00:00Z
  • Place was exactly as described in ad and we had a great time!

    Pat2017-01-16T00:00:00Z
  • Very much enjoyed our stay! Beautiful, sweet cottage. A quick Uber ride to downtown and the Pharmacy. I fell in love with Nashville and can't wait until my return :)

    Ansley2016-07-18T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our stay at The Clevland Cottage ! Cottage was clean, trendy, and served as an excellent home base for our trip! We would highly recommend this air b n b :)

    Evan2016-07-27T00:00:00Z
  • Hands down my best Airbnb experience ever. Beta & Emily have the little cottage done up so nicely--and yes, it is as cute in person as it is in the pictures. They were great hosts and anticipated every possible want & need for a short-term guest. My boyfriend and I will make every effort to book this same location for any and all future trips to Nashville.

A cozy & clean renovated cottage in South Inglewood with private entrance. One bedroom, one bathroom cottage w/ a nice patio and backyard. Plenty of street parking. We'd love to help make your Nashville trip perfect!
Our cottage, which was renovated last year, is spacious (384 sq ft) with plenty of privacy. Included is a big patio and large backyard. Inside the cottage you'll find a full size bed, couch, dining table with chairs, shower/bathtub, and washer & dryer. Soap, shampoo, detergent, hair dryer, noise machine and filtered water are all provided.
Located in South Inglewood, we are very close to all the great East Nashville spots and only 4 miles to downtown. Our street is an upcoming residential area that is improving everyday. We are walking distance from a great YMCA and our neighborhood Mexican restaurant called Las Maracas. There's no shortage of good food, bars, shops and nightlife just minutes away. Most importantly, in the four years we've lived here, we've always felt safe.
  • Adorable little cottage perfect for a quick stay in Nashville! Easy to get to downtown from here or hanging on the patio for a drink!

  • We stayed one night in Nashville and this was the perfect place to stay! Comfortable and clean and they had great recommendations!

  • My 2 daughters and I spent a night in the cottage while visiting family in Nashville. The location was great. The cottage was super clean, and well decorated. My daughters (ages 11 and 13) loved the backyard and Julian's friendly dog, Gus. We will for sure get ahold of Julian the next time we visit Nashville.

    Cassie2015-03-31T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed staying in the cottage! It's well-decorated, has a cozy bed, and we loved listening to their great records! The Keurig machine is a nice touch and the cottage gets great afternoon and morning light.

  • Just as the listing photos indicate, this is an absolutely wonderful property in a great up and coming part of town. You definitely need to be prepared to Uber / drive to get around but in terms of value for money and location (quiet, friendly neighborhood) it can't be beaten. Highly recommended.

  • Great experience! the Unit was beautiful and charming. Perfect place to stay for a quick visit to Nashville. Located close to some great dining spots, and only a short Uber ride to downtown. Julian was very good about checking in and making sure our stay was pleasant. Loved waking up and listening to some Johnny Cash on vinyl!

    Ezra2015-04-11T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great stay. Bed was comfy! The cottage looks just as in the pictures. Julian was so easy to communicate with and very accommodating. Loved the hospitality, fresh flowers and a welcome note

  • Julian was a perfect host. Checked up on us via text. When we arrived there was a list of local suggestions in a nice, clean room. Really cool atmosphere and nice neighborhood. We would definitely recommend Julian's place to stay.

Location, location, location! Large, classy, timeless, comfortable, entire top floor with private entrance in our private house out of a 1890's novel in Williamsburg, Brooklyn one block from the East River. So easy to get to Manhattan by subway, ferry, cab or even foot, and all the best places in the "Burg" Wifi/cableTV/air/heat. (We stay in our separate floor below you never compromising your privacy!)
Perfect location on the Northside Williamsburg, Brooklyn Waterfront scene, my place is a wood beamed classic, with hard wood floors and restored original brick wall. It is the top floor of a 1894 restored house on a very nice semi residential street block. The nicely outfitted place, "the country in the sky" as I refer to it, has a beautiful totally functional "Peerless" antique prewar stove for cooking, generous amounts of pots, a wood burning fire place and a full size refrigerator in the kitchen. The feelings are cozy, warm, cabin like yet elegant. The kitchen and living room are in the same open area. There is a dining room table that seats 4, a beautiful brand new couch that folds down to become a very comfortable queen size bed that sleeps 2. Beyond the living area is the large master bedroom with a queen size bed that sleeps 2 with a large antique dresser and 2 riverside windows. Off the master bedroom is a large tiled classic bathroom with an antique skylight and large tub with shower, and a small bedroom with a twin size bed and riverside window that is nice as a separate rest area, a great place for a child to sleep, or an out of sight room to put your luggage and things. My location is beyond great and safe. 10 minutes maximum in a cab or car service over the Williamsburg Bridge and you are in Manhattan. It is a short walk (3 min) to the North 6th Street East River Ferry ( the scenic quick river route to Midtown Manhattan or lower Manhattan, please check schedules). Subways: L train ( gray line): First stop in Brooklyn, only one stop to Manhattan and a neat 10 minute walk from my place going by shops, restaurants and street vendors to the very frequent Northside L train subway stop at Bedford Ave and North 7 St, (Everything you want to pick up to take back to my place is on Bedford Ave or Kent Avenue which are the walking routes to the subway. (Among the small shops, restaurants and bars, there is now a "Whole Foods" supermarket and a Iphone store on Bedford!) The JM subway that goes over the Williamsburg Bridge with wonderful views of the river and NYC skyline to lower Manhattan (Chinatown etc), is a little further (13 min walk ) through the South Side. After a night out in the neighborhood, you will find this quiet, comfortable, timeless place to come home to that is the top floor of a restored Williamsburg house. All East River parks are a short walk away with their spectacular river and skyline views. During the warm months the weekend flea/food markets down Kent Avenue/North 8 on weekends are fun and back dropped by the river and Manhattan skyline. Grand Street River Park is only a block and a half away. I love going there in the mornings with a cup of tea and taking in the NYC view. The quaint restaurants and music clubs are amazing and abundant, the "Williamsburg Foodtown" Market has all the groceries you need and frankly the only reason I would leave the "Burg" would be to go to a museum, St. Patrick's, Grand Central's Oyster Bar or ice skating at Rockerfeller Center. Indoor Flea Market on North 7th right off Kent Ave, "Mast Brothers Chocolate" on North 3rd off Berry, "Beer Garden" restaurant lunch, dinner, brunch with live music on Friday nights on North 3rd and Berry, "Sea" restaurant (Thai) on North 6, "Sweet Water" (Bistro) restaurant on North 6, "Dumont Burger" for awesome burgers on Bedford between South 2-3, "Aurora" (Northern Italian) with great brunches, lunches and dinners is right around the corner as is "Coxley's" sport bar with 40 beers on tap and great chicken wings on Grand St. "Teddy's" rest and bar (American Bistro) on North 8, a landmark that serves brunch, lunch and dinner and also has music sometimes at night, and the "Knitting Factory" music performance space and bar is 6 blocks away on Metropolitan. The best NY steak house, "Peter Luger's" reservations only, is in the vicinity. The floor is divided in 4 areas: upon entering you are in the kitchen and living, dining room with a wall and door that separates this space from the large bedroom in the front, the large tiled bathroom and the smaller front bedroom. The living area can easily convert to a sleeping area for 2. The place is adorable and sleeps four comfortably. Much quieter than most places in the area. Heat, air conditioning, wifi, fine linens/towels and kitchen utensils are provided for my guest. Full laundry drop off service and dry cleaners is available a couple of blocks up the street at "Berry Cleaners" or 302 Bedford Ave. My personal assistant/butler and I will check with you on your arrival time, hand over keys and be close at hand for anything you need during your stay. I and my husband are on our private lower floor of the house.
The neighborhood feels like a small village. It is very safe and has such a mixture of different foods, cultures, and restaurants. The Manhattan skyline views along Kent Ave can get no better and the wonderful Pier off North 5 on a Sunday afternoon is full of families, tourist and the occasional fisherman. During the warmer months there are outdoor flea markets and food markets of North 8 on the East River side. Bedford Avenue (3 blocks away) on the North and South side is filled with non chain restaurants, bars and shops.
  • Maria was the perfect host, and her friend Azul was very friendly and helpful upon my arrival. The apartment was amazing. The photos don't do it justice. A really lovely place to stay. The neighbourhood was great. Very close to the waterfront, and only 10 minutes walk to the subway. Some really great shops and bars nearby, and an excellent supermarket 5 minutes walk from the apartment. Although it's on quite a busy street, I found it pretty quiet at night and very safe.

    Paul2015-09-08T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing location and fantastic accommodations. We had everything we could possibly need for a long weekend, and truly felt that we had a home in the city. Views were incredible and the apartment is walking distance to everything one may need. Good kitchen for cooking light meals and plenty of space for relaxing in the evening before going out. Thorough details on the surrounding area provided by Maria, and Azul was a delight. Friendly, prompt, helpful and unobtrusive. We can't wait to return!

  • We staid here this past weekend and it was nothing short of spectacular. Both Maria and Azul were very helpful and very welcoming. The Apartment is beautiful and the views from the roof and gorgeous! I would recommend this stay to everyone and I'm looking forward to returning for another stay in the near future! Thank you Maria and Azul!

    Travis2016-06-12T00:00:00Z
  • We had the most wonderful time staying in Maria's apartment. We walked in tired and exhausted from our journey from Australia and were greeted by soft lamp lights and warm earthy tones of the decor - it felt like being at home from the first minute. It is warm and cosy when it was cold outdoors and the location just perfect being just a short stroll to the subway station, supermarket coffee shops etc. Azul helped us during our stay with anything we needed and he is truly a wonderful guy. After a busy day seeing the sights of Manhattan we so enjoyed the quiet walk home from the subway station through the local neighbourhood. We felt safe at all times and highly recommend this as a place to stay whilst in New York. Thanks Maria, Greg and Azul!!

This is a safe space. We've created a wonderful space that we love to call home. It's full of good energy, happiness & musical instruments! All is Love. It's in Southeast Denver near I-25 and Evans. It's 15 mins from downtown & 20 mins from the airport. Come play! Cleaning fee is included in the price.
*** PLEASE READ THE ENTIRE DESCRIPTION BEFORE INQUIRING. ** *** THIS IS A SAFE SPACE *** *** Must be LGBTQIA+ friendly because we are, too! *** 🏳️‍🌈 *** We have an adorable cat named Butternut Squashington. If you're allergic, steer clear. I'm sorry you won't be able to meet him. :) *** *** 420 Friendly - cannabis inside, anywhere, cigarette outside. There’s a 420 shelf for all your hardware needs! Dab rig, pipes, papers, grinder, etc *** Check in is at one, but is definitely flexible depending on your needs and the guests prior to you. You can at least drop your bags off if your travel plans have you arriving early in the day. Lauren is a very open-minded queer woman that wants you to have a great time in Denver. She can help you find what you want to do and where you should go to do it. You’ll be communicating with Lauren consistently. Natalie loves to build community and speaks Spanish fluently. The condo is easy to find with lots of parking. Please park on the street. You can use my garage for things like bikes and motorcycles. We’re close to the airport and if you need a ride and we’re available, we can do that for a small fee to cover gas. The bus system is relatively easy to use from my place but gets very limited late at night. If you come when I'm not home I'll guide you to the hideaway key. You have to climb one flight of stairs to get to my condo. Make yourself at home! You and a second guest will sleep on a comfy foam mattress in the guest room (it's private). If there are three or four guests, we can blow up the double tall queen mattress. We travel a lot for work, so you may need to change your own sheets. Lauren is a sound healer and offers discounted treatments if you stay with us. Lauren’s work is to bring the body from a place of imbalance to a place of balance using the vibrations of ancient instruments. It's like a full cellular body massage! We don't have cable - We have internet, plenty of DVDs and a little projector for a fun entertainment center extraordinaire. If you bring a laptop you can connect it via HDMI to the projector, and I have the adaptor for Mac. There's a grocery and liquor store within walking distance if you have any needs that I don't have stocked. Feel free to do laundry with my personal machines and supplies. You need to turn on the light inside the closet where the laundry is to turn the washer on. When leaving please be careful because the cat is quite the escape artist.
Very close to I-25, yet quiet and clean. I have very nice neighbors.
  • Lauren was amazing! Super helpful and accommodating! And Butternut Squashington is one of the coolest cats in the game 😎

We would recommend this place to anyone looking to explore colorado and who wants to come "home" at the end of the day. Also, Butternut Squashington is the coolest bravest cat you will every meet. Don't hesitate on this listing you will not regret it. - John & Tiffany your Texas Pals

  • I felt like I was at a friends house, Laurens space was exactly what we were looking for. Very safe neighborhood, lots of art to look at! Wish our stay could have been longer. I really look forward to visiting again and hopefully staying there! I would recommend her space to anyone with an open heart and mind.

We loved staying at this Beaver Island apartment. It is a great location in town, close to the bars, beach, and boat dock. The views of the harbor from the deck and kitchen were awesome!
