Located in the quiet and peaceful South Somerset village of South Petherton, just a stones throw from the A303, therefore easy to find, this B&B offers an opportunity to relax and enjoy the wonderful countryside with its beautiful walks and cycle paths. This recently refurbished house provides three double bedrooms all with modern en-suite bath/shower rooms. Breakfast is served in the guest dining room offering fresh locally sourced and organically grown produce, overlooking the garden recently planted with a selection of fruit trees. The light and elegant guest lounge offers a large selection of reading material as well as DVDs. The log fire gives a warm atmosphere in the cold winter months. There is a large car park on the property offering safe off-road parking. The Square House B&B has welcomed many very interesting and friendly guests since opening in 2012. All the teething problems have been overcome and now even the garden is beginning to take some shape. The fruit trees supplied some produce for the table and the raised beds will be planted in the Spring to provide more goodies for breakfast and flowers to decorate the house. Roaring log fires give a cozy and warm welcome at this time of year. The house was constructed in 1851 by James England, a local boy transported to Australia where he made his fortune and built the house for his retirement back in the UK. In 1924 the house was split in two and The Square House came into being. In more recent times this part of the house was occupied by John Brunner the prolific science fiction writer. Two bedrooms have an en-suite shower room with large shower cubicle. The third bedroom has an en-suite with bath and overhead shower. All rooms have complementary hospitality trays offering fresh coffee and a selection of teas, as well as digital TV and clock radio. Of course, WiFi is available throughout the house. There are two rooms with double beds and one with twin beds/superking. Two of the rooms can accommodate a further single bed should it be required, thus making triple rooms. There is also a baby cot available. For the past ten years the present owner has run an award winning bed and breakfast in the heart of Bristol. The re-location to the countryside has been a long held ambition. Her wealth of experience has been carried through to this latest venture. Breakfast is mainly organic and locally sourced produce with a large selection of fruits, compotes, cheeses, croissant, toast and of course full english breakfast. Fresh coffee and teas are available together with fruit juices. Most food preferences can be catered for, please inform the proprietor on reservation. There is a very friendly West Highland White Terrier in residence. He has been brought up in the world of B&B and is happy to greet fellow medium and small sized dogs to share his home, although he is not so happy to extend his hospitality to other animals. The house is a three minute walk from the centre of the village and all its amenities and a three minute drive from the A303. There is plenty of parking in the purpose-built car park by the entrance to the garden. There is a barn and garage, so plenty of storage for bicycles, etc., also an outside tap for washing dirty boots after a hard day's exploration in the surrounding countryside.
