Sightseeing

Bude Sea Pool is a part-natural, partially man-made tidal swimming pool on the beach at this popular seaside town in North Cornwall. It was built in the 1930s under the cliffs of Summerleaze Beach to provide safe bathing in sea water, but away from the dangerous Atlantic currents in the bay. Measuring around 91m by 45m, it is topped up at high tide by the Atlantic Ocean. Since 2012 it is managed by the Friends of Bude Sea Pool, a not-for-profit charity that took over the facility when public funding was withdrawn. The spacious Pool provides plenty of room for paddling or serious swimming: inflatables, snorkels, surfboards and even scuba divers are welcome - just be considerate of other users, please. Bude Sea Pool is open throughout the year and is FREE for all to enjoy. Lifeguards are on duty at peak times. Children must be accompanied at the Sea Pool at all times.

A lovely National Trust Beach with long golden sands and plenty of rock pools. The rock formations are stunning. When the tide is out you can walk this beach all the way to Bude. Car park and cafe right by the beach

Parks & Nature

With a pretty route to stroll and plenty to do, a walk or paddle along the historic Bude Canal is a must for any visitor. Parking is easy on The Crescent, right next to our friendly Tourist Information Centre (EX24 8LE), which is also an excellent first stop before you explore the canal for yourself. Several features along its length are unique in British canal history, as you will discover. A unique waterway, it was originally created for transporting lime rich sand to local farms. Today it is a place for fun rather than industry. Canoes, kayaks, pedaloes and bikes can all be hired easily while it is also a fantastic coarse fishery with some large and unusual species to catch. Bude Canal is also suitable for wheelchair use and young children along its level towpath.
