My absolute favorite place for dinner within a 7 mile radius from our home (and that's saying a lot considering we live a 6 min walk away from it). Amazing drinks, heavenly food, stellar service, and delightful atmosphere. Their French cheeseburger is the best burger we've ever had the pleasure of eating (insider tip: burger is half-off after 9pm, if you sit at the bar), but honestly anything on their menu is bound to blow your taste buds away. Book a table and go have some delicious fun!

We love us some Nashville hot chicken at the Vergiels Casa and Mico's serves some of the best you'll find in the entire city. Be warned though, they do *not* play around with their spice levels-- if you're uninitiated in the dark arts of hot chicken-eating, maybe don't go straight for the "most spicy" :P

City/town information

This may come off like a love letter to Houston, and that's OK— the truth is, the city has our hearts and we’re not bashful about it. My husband and I met and fell in love here; it's where we've made so many dazzling memories and even more dazzling friendships. With extraordinary food, culture, people, and spaces, Houston is the sort of place where those who seek authenticity, pizzazz, uniqueness, and warmth (literally and figuratively!) find it in heaps. The energy capital of the world; America's boomtown; Texas’ most down-to-Earth metropolis; the place from which JFK gave his “We choose to go to the moon” speech; a culinary paradise; birthplace of Beyonce, ZZ Top, Solange, Tobe Nwigwe, Yolanda Adams, Kenny Rogers, NASA Mission Control, the world’s first domed stadium, and even the largest medical center on the planet, just to (humbly) name a few. Welcome to Houston, a magnificently scrappy town whose beauty lies in its capacity to shape the souls of all who visit her.

Believe it or not Downtown is a great spot for bar hopping -- some of our favorite bars are in this area: Captain Foxheart's Bad News Bar & Spirit Lodge, La Carafe (oldest bar in town, too!), Watch Company, Warren's, Pastry Wars, El Big Bad, Reserve 101, Flying Saucer, Secret Garden and the list goes on and on... Oh and yeah, Downtown is also home to "the tunnels" -- a system of underground, airconditioned walkways that connect all major corporate buildings in the area. Several cool food spots are available down there as well. Ah, yes must not forget to mention that this is also home to our amazing Theatre District which houses nine professional performing arts organizations some of which include the Wortham Theater Center where the Houston Grand Opera and Houston Ballet perform. Housing the works of one of my favorite artists-- the Cy Twombly Gallery is a celebration of the artist's work. The space is also located in the Montrose area and is part of the The Menil Collection complex (a lovely art museum)

The Ancient Egyptian wing is pretty grand and the rotating exhibits are 100% worth a visit-- check the museum calendar for silent disco parties; they happen in the paleontology wing and are quite the soiree. PS: While here, get tickets to the butterfly center. You won't regret it-- unless you're scared of butterflies... then you'll really regret it.
