Authentic Cuban food con sabor! I love this little place because it feels just like stepping into Cuba (except the prices). Salsa music, colorful art, and complex flavors create an experience to remember.

This is a total secret spot. Best Vietnamese Banh Mi sandwiches in the Pacific NW. Fresh ingredients, perfect combination of textures and tastes. If you are lucky they will have some banana pastries and sesame balls in their display case. Please tell them that Adnan and Stacey sent you. We go there once or twice a week. It's a 20-30 minute bike ride and SO WORTH IT!

The freshest pita straight from the oven with the freshest hummus or baba ghanoush. Shawarma, lamb, chicken, beef, dripping with flavor. You MUST end it with their homemade baklava. Never a better baklava made. If you meet Hani, the gregarious owner, let him know that Adnan and Stacey sent you.

Sightseeing

One of Portland's coolest and most beautiful spots in a sketchy area. The Chinese Gardens are a full block radius oasis in Chinatown and so worth the visit. They have the Tao of Tea teahouse inside and you can easily spend a couple of hours relaxing and wandering and taking photos and having tea. Just be aware that Chinatown is not a nice area. It's an intriguing contrast.

This is one of my favorite nature spots in Portland. It's a small dormant volcano in the middle of our city! You can drive (or bike there and to the top if you are an avid cyclist). Beautiful views of Mt Hood and downtown Portland. We love to ride to the top and enjoy the view!

There are over 10,000 rose bushes of approximately 650 varieties. The roses bloom from April through October with the peak coming in June, depending on the weather. New rose cultivars are continually sent to the garden from many parts of the world and are evaluated on several characteristics, including disease resistance, bloom formation, color, and fragrance. It is the oldest continuously operating public rose test garden in the United States and exemplifies Portland's nickname, "City of Roses".
