Sightseeing

Who wouldn't want to spend a barmy summer night watching these little guys come in from a long day fishing, to provide for their family back in the sand dunes of Phillip Island. A long time favourite of visitors to Phillip Island. Be sure to book well in advance in the summer months as this popular tourist attraction is often sold day.

Not for the faint hearted, this walk will test your physical fitness, however you do not need to be a super athlete to do it. Trail winds along some of the most spectacular coastline in Victoria. The full walk is 14km and takes a few hours. You can also walk half way where you will discover a foot access only beach. Take picnic lunch and watch the waves roll in whilst you site on the pristine white sands. This is an ocean beach and we do not recommend you swim here, as this coastline is notorious for killer rips. (NB This walk is not suitable for people with mobility limitations. There is a lot of uphill downhill requirements. The track is not sealed and is uneven, rocky and sandy in some places)

There are a number of resident pelicans on the shore at San Remo, just before you cross the bridge to get to the island. It is worth a stop and look. Pelicans are feed daily at noon. It is a fun thing to see and great photo opportunity. Whilst there you can grab some fish and chips from the fish co-op and enjoy them on the pier.

Food scene

This historic site was established in the 1860's and many of the cottages and the homestead still remain and are open to the public for viewing. If you are lucky enough to be in town on the 4th Saturday of the month, you will be able to purchase fresh local produce at one of the 40 market stall at the Churchill Island farmers market. You can also visit the local cafe to grab some refreshments.

Something fun to do on a rainy day or in the sweltering heat. More geared at the kids, but still enjoyable as an adult. You can skip the factory tour and head straight to the chocolate shop if you prefer.

I love this cozy little cafe, purely because they make the best omelettes on the island. The coffee is okay too, but I really go there for the omelettes. It is within strolling distance, about a 15 min walk back towards the main street where you turn. At peak times it can get a little busy. I find early breaky or late brunch the best time to go.

Our Furry Friends

Some of Australia's cutest residence. The Koala conservation park not only house the cute little creatures that disguise themselves and are often mistaken for bears. You will get to walk through the treetops and watch them mull their day away chomping on eucalyptus leaves. You can also get up close and personal with these guys and may even be lucky enough to have cuddle. The centre is also home to a number of other native Australian animals who are equally as cute as the Koala's.
