Parks & Nature
Norway's most western mainland point and a perfect small hiking route, also with children. Go by car on the road 57 (i.e. the main road from Lindås) in the opposite direction of Bergen. After 15 minutes from the house, you get to the village Fonnes. A few hundred meters, you see the sign "Ervik 1,6 km". Keep right at the first crossing, then continue until the road ends by the fjord/a small harbour. There you see the municipality's information board about Vardetangen and you can park there. Hiking is about 2 km from there, relatively flat. On your way, you pass the beautiful beach "Årvikane".

This is the uninhabitated island just below the holiday home and just opposite the boathouse. Take the canoe, get to the island and find some paths that the goats grazing there have made. You can walk anywhere on the island. Wonderful scenery. Personally, I prefer the southern part along the coast (a bit to the right when you go out from the boathouse)

Small charming beach just 1,5 km from the house. Go back the Sundsbøvegen road for a kilometer and it's the second road down to your left (a few hundred meters before the end of the Sundsbøvegen road)

For guests with kids: Bring a small thin rope and a small piece of fish that you attach to it and throw it into the water from the bridge. The kids will be delighted to see small crabs grab it.

Cross the field below the house and turn left as you hit the first trees, this takes you to the fjord and a nice bridge over to the closest small island. There are some wet parts. For guests with kids: Bring a small thin rope and a small piece of fish that you attach to it and throw it into the water from the bridge. The kids will be delighted to see small crabs grab it.

The Heathland Centre (Lyngheisenteret) is beautifully located on the heathlands at Lygra in Lindås municipality in Nordhordland, about 30 minutes from the house. Here you can wander around along the stroller-friendly (if proper wheels) paths winding through the heather-clad heaths, stroller-friendly. As a result of cultivation, pollution and overgrowth, this unique cultural landscape is rapidly disappearing in Norway and Europe. The Heathland Centre is an information centre focused on preserving knowledge and the way of life about how to manage the coastal heathlands. Just relaxing at the house in the hottub, in the garden or by the pool table. Let the kids enjoy the trampoline, playing football or badminton in the garden or visit the sheep or goats. Take out the boat or canoe for a ride and see if you get some fish. Go hiking in the immediate surroundings.
If you want to go for about 1.5 hours walking, there’s a very nice trail very close. There might be some wet parts. Go up to the road and take left. Just before you get to a brown cabin on the right hand side (my sister’s, by the way), walk on the grass toward the fence. Just at the height of the cabin, i.e. on the back of the cabin, there’s a gate through the fence. Go through that gate (remember to close it, there are sheep there…) continue on the inside, so that you have the fence on your right hand side. After a few minutes, the path goes up to the left through the woods. There are two trails to choose from once you reach the first plateau: One marked with red plastic rings and another one marked with white/red plastic tape. The red one goes in parallel with the road and offers very nice view, but stops after about half an hour. The white/red one, which is the one I recommend, goes to the right higher up on the mountain, and also offers a great view. On the top, you see a small man-made pile of stones. From there, it’s possible to continue even higher by taking a path that goes left from there. That path takes you to Kolåstoppen, closer to Lindås center.
