Ta’ Karolina Restaurant is a family run award winning restaurant. Considered by many as the “best local restaurant” in Gozo. Ta’ Karolina Restaurant is located at the right end side of Xlendi waterfront, just before the steps leading to Karolina Cave. We work hard to consistently offer good food, with a personal touch, while making sure we give you a professional service. The food is excellent, many awards! Before you have fully passed under the archway into the Citadel, you will be welcomed by the majestic sight of Gozo Cathedral, across the small square at the top of a wide flight of steps guarded by two 17th-century bronze cannons. A walk along the fortified ramparts is rewarded with a breathtaking 360-degree panorama of Gozo’s hills and valleys, villages and churches and a view right across the sea to Malta.

A beautiful spot for swimming and snorkelling, this once-secluded inlet is increasingly popular though still rarely busy. A narrow inlet flanked by rock, there is a tiny pebbly beach at the head of the inlet providing a gently slope into the water. Along the sides are rocks from which you can swim straight into deep water. Steps are provided though some prefer to jump.

Wied l-Għasri, the Ghasri Valley, is a marvellous place for a country walks or bike ride, especially in winter and spring. The valley begins at Ta’ Dbieġi Hill before winding down through the village of l-Għasri, and on between iż-Żebbuġ and Ta’ Ġurdan Hill to meet the sea between impressive cliffs. Wied il-L-Għasri is very popular with divers who like to explore the surrounding underwater caves. The very narrow and secluded bay is also a haven for those who seek a quiet bathing area. Where the valley meets the sea is an interesting cave with a shaft dug right up to the top of the steep cliffs above.

This is Gozo’s, and arguably Malta’s, best beach. A wide stretch of red sand, it is often referred to locally as “Ramla il-Ħamra” – the Red Sandy Beach! Ramla is a wonderful place to swim, snorkel and chill out in the sun. The area around the beach is wonderfully undeveloped, although there are a couple of cafes and a stall set back from the beach. The sand dunes are protected and the valley leading down to the bay is green and fertile. The terraced walls built by the farmers give the valley an appearance of a quilt when viewed from surrounding high ground.

San Blas Bay is a pretty beach of red sand – a little sister to Ramla Bay. It is accessible from the village of in-Nadur via a narrow road, the last part of which is closed to traffic because it is exceptionally steep. This discourages many people, making San Blas Bay a very peaceful place. It is naturally peaceful too. Located on the North-East coast of the Island, San Blas Bay lies at the end of one of the most beautiful fertile valleys of Gozo, with no buildings to marr the view.

A small sandy beach and crystal clear waters make this a popular swimming place, particularly amongst locals. It is also a favourite spot for diving, especially for beginners, and Gozitans love to bring a barbecue in summer and settle in for the evening. The bay lies directly opposite the island of Comino and is reached through the village of il-Qala.

The Blue Lagoon – just fifteen minutes boat-ride across the water from Mġarr Harbour – is one of the best swimming spots in Malta. Lying between the island of Comino and the islet of Cominotto, the calm, crystal-clear waters of the lagoon reflect the cyan blue of the sky over a pure white sandy seabed. This long, narrow bay surrounded by rocks and a few small areas of sand is a natural swimming pool perfect for floating, splashing, snorkeling, scuba diving or simply relaxing. Tourist boats anchor in the marina-like bay throughout the day (in shoals at weekends!) but by evening the Blue Lagoon is empty. Comino has a resident population of fewer ten and only one hotel (open April-October).
