The Sawmill is a good place to get some food. It's convenient because it's only 2 miles away. They have good food, several beer options, and the atmosphere is good. It's a mix of people - mountain bikers to atvers to skiers to snowmobilers... "All wheels are welcome." The thing to note - the service isn't always great and sometimes the wait is long. Just need to know that going in to it.

Treelands Restaurant is right on their own bay, with an outside deck. Good food and lake access. If you're looking for a fishing or boating outing, a great option is to launch at their free boat launch and get food and a drink at the restaurant.

Bayfield Peninsula Trip Ideas (Ashland, Washburn, Bayfield, Red Cliff, Cornucopia, Herbster, Port Wing)
The Bayfield Peninsula is a great day trip option. Bayfield is about 1.5 hours from Hayward. An experience on and around Lake Superior is always worth the time. We've listed out some ideas to help you get started.

Cornucopia is a tiny little harbor town on Lake Superior. The beach is a wide open sandy beach with shallow water as far as you'd like. It's a great spot. Even at it's busiest on July 4th weekend, there is still room to enjoy. Tip: bring water containers because there is an artesian well at the north end of the parking lot. Another tip: Lost Creek Falls is real close and the Forestry and Parks Department has made some improvements to the trail, including the addition of a boardwalk. It's approximately 1.5 miles to the falls.
