A vibrant bar that plays more alternative music. It also serves great food up until 10pm(ish) and has a great selection of local beers. Ask for the code to the secret garden out back (pro-tip)!

This bar is one of our favourites and it's just a few doors down. It's low-key and small, great bar staff and it has games (including GIANT JENGA)! Try Idun's Elderflower cider and Black Isle beer.

A lively tequila bar that serves excellent authentic Mexican grub. The décor and ambience is really nice and although it is always busy, you can usually find a good seat. There's a large selection of other alcohols too, so I'm sure you'll find your tipple.

This is a traditional fun pub with great food and an excellent ale and whiskey selection. It is down at the waterside so a nice location and also with a great outdoor space for when it's sunny. We like to play a board game over a pint or 3!

Make sure to book ahead because this place gets busy especially at the weekend. We can do this for you if you want! The best pizzas around Leith! They are traditional stonebaked with tasty toppings. The four cheese garlic bread is a must for a starter and we usually share one large 16" pizza between us! You can sit in at the restaurant or they also have a take-away shop round the corner too :)

Leith Depot is a fairly inconspicuous kind of place from the outside but it is a real treat. A very traditional Edinburgh bar in some respects they do great lunchtime and dinner food and always have some brilliant beers etc. on tap. It is so handy to our flat too just a 5 minute walk from our front door! My favourite is the beer-battered halloumi salad.

Timberyard is in a class of its own. It is an incredible eatery with all organic produce and mostly home grown in their own on-site vegetable and herb garden. The produce is seasonal so the menu varies, but its location in a converted timber warehouse is what makes it stand out. A meal here is pricey though, will set you back around £120 for two people so it is probably to be reserved for special occasions. We had our third date here! :)

This is a fun street market every Sunday with stalls for shopping and eating! Local produce from local people and a nice atmosphere. I would recommend, The Marshmallow Lady and Mademoiselle Macaron. This is Her Majesty the Queen's Royal residence when she visits Edinburgh and the Queens park or Arthurs Seat is situated towering above it. The palace is at the bottom of the royal mile, with a mile long walk up to the castle at the other end. There is a lovely art gallery inside the palace that often has some excellent exhibitions. Have a look in advance to see what's on.
