Landmarks and Museums

The Port Clinton Lighthouse was constructed in 1896 at the entrance of the Portage River. It served as an active lighthouse for 56 years until its decommissioning in 1952 when it was relocated on orders of the U.S. Coast Guard. The lighthouse stood quietly on private property for more than 60 years until the Port Clinton Lighthouse Conservancy began its restoration in 2014. A replica of the Lightkeeper's Boathouse near the lighthouse features historical displays and artifacts, a keeper's rowboat, and a gift shop. There is no additional cost to visit the boathouse, and its hours are the same as the lighthouse. Tours are offered from Memorial Day to Labor Day, every Saturday from 12 pm to 5 pm.
