I love its ambience: neo-Arabic architecture, high ceilings, pillars and tall arches, all brought trendily up to date with large cane lampshades, tripped brick walls and cool decor! The food is wonderful, cooked to perfection with a good variety of fish and meat dishes on offer. I love the sushi! :) ☎ +351 22 205 4016

The environment created refers to the glamor of the French style of the 50s, based in elegant gray and greenish tones and the use of period furniture. The highlight is the tree surrounded by lit bar, around which will be arranging the tables and chairs. A spiral staircase leads us to the mezzanine, where a sofa surrounds the entire space overlooking the ground floor. Champanheria da Baixa Bistrô is a restaurant-bar ideal for fine dining and/or a glass then working perfectly as bistrô betting on grilled meats or as a dedicated lounge to champagnes, 'sangrias' and champagne cocktails. ☎ +351 22 323 5254

In the old part of the city, the restaurant Abadia (Abbey) do Porto, was founded in 1939. It is said that the name has origins in abbeys where pilgrims, from Santiago de Compostela, rested for a few hours, slept and ate before start another long walk with religious purposes. This beautifully renovated space resembles a glamorous cafe from the mid 20th century. A largely sophisticated gay crowd frequents Café Lusitano, although all are welcome. On week nights, the mood is relaxed, perfect for sipping a wine, cocktail, coffee or juice. A wide range of popular and eclectic music keeps the bar interesting. On weekends, the party gets louder and wilder. Dancing is a prerequisite with resident and guest DJs playing international dance beats.

Bar Conceição 35 is a cool, fun and quaint space, with vintage industrial décor, transforming moods depending on the time of day and day of the month. In the late afternoon, Conceição 35 is a great neighborhood gay café serving tapas, sandwiches and pastries, as well as drinks at Happy Hour prices. On Fridays and Saturdays, the furniture is pulled out to create a dance floor. Special parties and special guests are scheduled regularly.

ZOOM is (currently) the hot nightclub of the moment in Porto. A contemporary party palace rises from what was once an old industrial warehouse. The club is contemporary and cool, with enormous disco balls and catwalks over the dance floor made for muscled go-go boys. The crowd is largely attractive gay males, but there are many hot lesbians mixed in. Drag shows, theme parties, strippers and popular DJs keep the entertainment continually interesting. The place gets even more crowded after 4:00 when night creatures migrate over from other bars closing around town.

Café Vitória is one of those spaces in the city I love to recommend, because, despite its name, it's more than a coffee in the usual sense of the word but rather a bar and a restaurant wishing to be an option for any time of the day. It is a bar that turns to be an excellent after-work choice, which I really enjoy, or an option for a late cocktail, always with a good background music selection.

The walls are the epicenter of this bar and mark the space decoration, hence the name The Wall. When we enter it doesn't get unnoticed especially because, behind the bar, the wall displays bottles that aim to represent the various drinks around the world. This reflects a cosmopolitan personality of the space, which has a sophisticated atmosphere underlined by other decorative details like the huge crystal chandelier that hangs from the ceiling and looks to create harmony and give sense to the mix of modern and retro reminiscences, which are also in the sonorities of the years 70 to 80 that invade the space.

The Gin Club is a wonderful bar, modern and sophisticated, divided between two rooms, one of which used as the dance floor to the sound of pop/rock of the years 80 and 90, and the terrace facing one of the most famous Porto's night arteries. In this space of night fun, able to ensure great discoveries among the endless supply of gin that are displayed on the illuminated shelves behind the counter, you'll find a pleasant place for great late afternoons and evenings among friends.

The ‘coolest and alternative’ night out in Porto is not complete without a reference to Passos Manuel. A former cinema house, (aka) ‘Passos’ is now a trendy cinema-bar-disco combo space, mostly frequented by people from the arts, architecture, design, and especially for those who like bold and alternative spaces, but with some refinement and grandeur, where you can hear some not mainstream sounds, within a quality musical agenda. That´s what brings it personality and charisma that turns this night spot for itself a “must goin’ out.”

Plano B is more than a bar/nightclub, it's a space of "cultural association", divided by two floors and a set of large rooms with different atmospheres. Now, a commercial space with shop, café-bar, or a multi-purpose space for concerts of music, from jazz to rock through electronic or experimental music, documentaries and film cycles, theatre, dance and other performances. An urban and cosmopolitan concept, worthy of any of the cool cities in the world, it deserves a regular visit.

A Vida Portuguesa was born out of the will to create an inventory of the brands that survived the passage of time, to highlight the quality of Portuguese manufacture and to showcase Portugal in a surprising light. Throughout the past few years they've searched, from the north to the south of the country, for products created and fabricated in Portugal. Products that have been handed down through generations and still touches their (and mines) heart today. In production for a long time now, they have, to this day, retained the same original, beautiful and naive packaging. They owe their longevity to their quality, which is, in some cases, outstanding (and recognized abroad, as well). With time, inventiveness and hard work they became perfect and indispensable. They are trademarked in our memories and represent a way of life. They evoke the everyday life of another time and reveal the soul of my country.

It is (probably) the most beautiful bookstore in the world! Built in 1906, the building of a Gothic façade presents Livraria Lello that seems inspired by the majestic cathedrals; inside, inspired in the libraries of English mansions, stands an imposing wooden staircase that gives access to the second floor, where you can get an overview about all the space. On the ceiling, right in the Centre, a stained-glass window lets pass a warm light, with an inscription of the well-known "motto Decus in labore", "Dedication at work".
