Ooltewah is 8 miles to the south of us and have tons of shopping and eateries! Cambridge Square is a new neighborhood with locally-owned restaurants and retailers; a large community square with live entertainment and events throughout the good-weather months; architecturally rich is the destination for locals looking for a new kind of dining, shopping, and entertainment experience. I much prefer driving 8 short miles to Ooltewah, through beautiful Bendabout Polo Farm rather through traffic in Cleveland.

Sweetwater is about 35 minutes north of us, off of I-75. I lived here for five years before returning to Cleveland and is one of my favorite little quaint towns ever! In this sweet southern city you'll get a glimpse of life in the slow lane. You will enjoy walking down Main Street - called the Sweetest Street in Tennessee with a wide variety of local eateries and unique shopping and antique venues. There are just so many quaint and interesting things to do in such a short distance! Also a great experience is The Lost Sea, America’s largest underground lake. It is one of my favorite local sights to see. Also across Hwy 68 is Tennessee’s largest muscadine vineyard, Tsali Notch Vineyard, with amazing views and plenty of local flavor surrounding America’s first grape. You can't miss the Sweetwater Valley Cheese Farm and the Tennessee Toffee Company. You can find a full visitors guide at sweetwatertn.net

The Houston Museum of Decorative Arts, The River Gallery and the Hunter Museum of American Art all call this scenic bluff with Tennessee River, and downtown views home. The River Gallery has a brilliant sculpture garden that can only be called a great job of yard work, while the Hunter Museum displays work in tune with the architecture of the three buildings with one of the buildings hosting the work of Andy Warhol. There are also a number of quaint coffee shops and restaurants to be found in this neighborhood.

The Tennessee Aquarium is two buildings; one freshwater and the other saltwater. The aquarium tries to follow the journey of a raindrop on land to the ocean, and it does it with spectacular effect. The freshwater journey will give you the birds, river otters, turtles, and alligators that populate the rivers in Tennessee and elsewhere. This trip continues to the other building and its saltwater denizens like penguins, sharks, reef fish, and a fantastic mirrored jellyfish habitat that seems to stretch forever.

The Raccoon Mountain Caverns measure over five miles on its well-lighted walking trail. Opened in 1931, the caves have remained a popular tourist destination for those traveling through the south given their proximity to the highway. Despite all the foot traffic, there remains an active and very much alive ecosystem comprised of spiders, bats, and salamanders. There is an excellent campground available outside the entrance if you wish to make a weekend out of your visit.

What do you do with a bridge scheduled for demolition? Use one of the many others spanning the Tennessee River? No, you turn it into the world's longest pedestrian bridge and host concerts and an annual wine tasting to complement the grand river views. The Walnut Street Bridge connects the north and south sides of Chattanooga which was quite significant when it was turned into a pedestrian bridge given the racially segregating nature of the river running through town.

Red Clay State Historic Park encompasses 263-acres of narrow valleys formerly used as cotton and pasture land. The park site was the last seat of Cherokee national government before the 1838 enforcement of the Indian Removal Act of 1830 by the U.S. military, which resulted in most of the Cherokee people in the area being forced to emigrate west. Eleven general councils were held between 1832 and 1837. Red Clay is where the Trail of Tears really began, for it was at the Red Clay Council Grounds that the Cherokee learned that they had lost their mountains, streams and valleys forever.

Getting up the mountain is a beautiful ride with scenic overlooks. The Chilhowee Recreation Area TRACK Trail, located in the Cherokee National Forest, combines two trails that loop around McKamy Lake and through old growth forest and Benton waterfall. Along the trail, you will discover a variety of trees and animals native to Cherokee National Forest. After completing the activities in an assortment of self-guided brochures, you can picnic or swim at the beach. In addition to the TRACK Trail, there are over 25 miles of trails in the area plus many roadside overlooks highlighting the beautiful mountain scenery. Very close to the Bungalow-This 4 miles trail is great for hiking, mountain biking, and trail running. Nice, wooded, easy trail system and well maintained. There's a small creek bed but mainly just woods for hiking, walking or biking. Easy to get to and marked well. There are no restrooms on the trail so be aware of that. Generally considered an easy route, it takes an average of 1 h 37 min to complete.
